Hi! I tried my hand at translating your comic in French (I got an English license)! I had lots of fun doing it, noticing little details that I didn't when just reading, and I also wanted to introduce it to my little sister who doesn't read in English and so far she seems to really like it! What gave me the most difficulty tbh is translating Mars' pronouns since our language uses mainly female and male pronouns but I did my best! I was also wondering if it was possible to post it somewhere to spread it...? Anyways, love your comic and your streams! ^^<3

also - as for translating mars' pronouns, this is a question that comes up often, so dont worry! ive created a sort of ladder tier system for it...

if a non-gendered pronoun exists within a language, please use that pronoun for mars!

if a non-gendered pronoun does not exist, please use mars' name or avoid using pronouns at all (similar to how menya is just 'menya'!)

YESSS I WILL DO THAT OR AT LEAST TRY TO!!!! Gonna split this into paragraphs under the cut :DDD

First of all, OHHH MYY GOD THIS WEBCOMIC MAKES ME INSANE DUDE!!! THIS MIGHT CONTAIN WAY MORE THAN WHAT YOU WANTED TO READ BUT OH WELL!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK OF ADMIRATION INFORMATION DUMP!!

1 - The Artist

Laika's Comet is made by Willow, an incredible, incredible artist! He uses @/catmask (main blog) and @/fourleafisland (art blog) for their handles: please go check out the art blog it's so so good!!!

Willow's art is so amazing, dude. Her colour choices, character designs, backgrounds, vehicles, everything is so damn beautiful. It inspires plenty of artists to create and keep creating, including me!

Here's a print it made! I chose to show you the dunmeshi themed one bc ik you're a dunmeshi freak (so am I):

2 - The World

Laika's Comet is set on Furth - the furry version of Earth! Everyone is an anthropomorphic animal, with the main character being a dog!

Furth is beautiful, very utopian with environmentally friendly tech and lifestyles. The world is also technologically advanced, with successful space travel!

3 - Themes

Laika's Comet has only just started, really, with two chapters (?) currently completed. However, from sticking around this long, I can take a shot at the overall themes:

- Family (VERY big on that one)

- Friendship

- Grief and loss (this one is something I think is going to be big later)

- Queerness and the queer self (hinted at)

- Trangenderism is BIG for this

- Abuse and/or neglect (implied? Might be explored explicitly in the future)

And probably a lot more! Obviously, as I am not the author nor artist, and the series has only just begun, I can't say that some of these things are for certain!

Now for the cast!

(Just covering current characters, as many more have been made but haven't cameo-ed yet!)

The Main Character - Laika

Laika is the main character of Laika's Comet! (never saw that coming, huh) She's a fat, bisexual, trans dogwoman! She rides a motorcycle and wears parts of an old astronaut suit. She drives around being a good citizen, helping little old dogs and searching for star pieces: you'll have to read to find out what those are!

She has two dads, Yue and Rover, who she lives with! She also has a "sidekick" called Mars, a cute little cat.

The Scientist - Yue

Laika's dad, Yue, is an old (sorry Yue), gay, trans bunnyman. He's an astronomer who tracks the star pieces with lots of technological equipment! He and Laika live in an observatory, and seeing as he technically works from home, his ideal work uniform is pajamas and a lab coat.

The Sidekick - Mars

Mars is a sweet kid, a little black cat who uses they/them pronouns. With a unique tail, some powers, and a cute doll named Menya, Mars is going to be a big part of the comic! I already love them so much (as I should).

A new masterpost to show all of my conlangs, with the way they are written, as it even has Saori in its actual script.

You are also allowed to send an ask with a sentence or two and one of the conlangs, and I'll try to translate it :3

Seissiric - a germanic language with hints of dutch, using the cyrrilic alphabet along with the characters å and ø (Ss)

Seissiri - ein germanishe tål mit ein flugl an niderlåndisch, mit das kirilishen alfabet mit å und ø (Ss)

Сеиссири - еин гер��анише тåл мит еин флугл ан ниде��лåндищ, мит дас кирилишен алфабет мит å унд ø (Сс)

Iaponi - a knock-off version of japanese, made by someone with limited knowledge of japanese (Ia)

iaponi-go - Nihon-go no nokku ofu, pashinde ikundo hatanki rādota (ia)

Saori - a germanic-ish language using its very own script based on hangul, sort of (Sa)

Sa’o’ri - un ri ger’mann’nikh avr’vra wyn es’kript yv hañ’gul, sort of (sa)

Sierien - a knock off version of german, that’s all i can really say (Sr)

Sachrai - a language isolate, i guess, it uses the latin alphabet with quite a few diacritic marks. screw that, many diacritic marks (Sc)

Sakhrai - u shpraaksistema isolaatia, khai guessa, es arazh as alfabeta latinshi an wea diakriti. shcho es, viela diakirti (Skh)

Saćrà - u šprāksistema isolātí, ćà gúßa, es araž as alfabeta latinši an wé díkriti. ščo es, vìla díkriti (Sć)

Mnavoch - a slavic language, but without any spaces, good luck (Mn)

Mnavokh - slavikskiya, dvizhasaskishchy, udachi (Mn)

Ytr - a slavic language, which has gotten quite some influences from slovenian recently (Yt)

Zhuzhian - another language isolate, with its very own alphabet, though it has some influences from german and dutch (Lj)

Negija’ika - an elvish language, uses the latin alphabet in a syllabary like fashion, the third form of the language (Hl)

Négijá’ika - ika’é élévî, zé’û aùfâbéte látin zû sîlíbárija, sén kún ika’é (Hl)

Helaja’ika ihla - the original version of Helaja’ika, using its very own script, and not bound by being a syllabary (Hi)

Helaja'ika ihla - seda walije u helaja'ika, aahi esdlibetaa, ni buuntaa i silabali (Hi)

ƥelqjqʋıɲq ıƥlq - çeɲg wqlıje u ƥelqjqʋıɲq, gƥı eçɲlȷbeðg, nı bųnðg ı çılqbqlı (ƥı)

Pegas’ika - the second version of Helaja’ika, adopted when i decided to simplify the language by using a single script (this was when i used an ipad) also this uses the greek alphabet (Pg)

Pegas'ika - deka gin ō Chelaga'ika, proschi a ko ebō ikan a ikada skript (ekas iPad e) ō, idamu thana Hellenika (Pg)

Thaos - a knock-off version of french, that’s it, i might have made it easier, or more difficult (Ta)

Lazerna - a germanic language whose alphabet is a mix of latin and cyrrilic, along with ä and ö (Lz)

New Tho - a germanic language with several diacritics, though not as many as Sachrai (Nt)

Arwnith - once again, a language isolate, with an alphabet based on the latin one, good luck trying to pronounce it though :3 (Ar)

Kijay - and yet again, language isolate with a special script, but this one only has e i and u as vowels (Kq)

Kiqé - éré, qésvëúr ī qrípté, dürqin eü é í mü ú qvé këlúr (Kq)

Krawzhic - a knock-off version of polish, i don’t know polish (Kw)

Krawsźiciśz - knock-off polski, nie wiem polski (Kw)

Do-chiau-lieng - my attempt at a vietnamese language (Dc)

Dó-chiāu-lièng - Wǔ no lió-juà ǐ vièt-nâm-lièng (Dc)

Syren - I decided to finally create the language that connects the siren family, which contains seissiri, saori and sierien (Sy)

Syren - Ikg æt gedesidiert das ikg eines tæler die des siren familien köunnektiert mækt, des æt seissiri, saori und sierien (Sy)

Archaic - this was meant to be a language for the stone-age, but just like with sachrai, i found out about diacritics, and over used them (Ac)

Arkhaikh - soherai angirzh v stenteider, alung v Sakhrai, findre v dzhåkreti, mshuy dāvere)

Alkaerungssirika - this is the revived corpse of the old script for seissiric, which now makes two old scripts revived, however, unlike Helaja’ika, i won’t change seissiri’s name (As)

Sileaan - this is a different version of Fullistc, though it will probably change soon, just like Ytr did (Sl)

To accomplish a particularly important task, the veteran reconnaissance officer Captain Mikhasyov receives a special reconnaissance group of four fighters under his command. Only these fighters are … young girls. These yesterday’s schoolgirls have to penetrate the communications center of the enemy army and paralyze its work, ensuring the success of the offensive operation of the Soviet troops.
