I'm so traumatized by the og ending of ME3 that, despite having 20 mods installed to change it, my entire being has been preventing me play it to the point where I stopped after the Citadel dlc back in August and now it’s mid November and I still haven't opened the game since then lol

Decided on more of a painted idea of this one, if I keep putting this much effort into these prompts I'm going to burn myself out whoops But in all seriousness, I ended up taking a bit of a different approach with this prompt This flight was probably the most important and serious of Joker's life. Thinking about Mass Effect, as you do, and how I'm kind of sad that the way it's been engraved in pop culture has more to do with the way internet reacted to it at the time than what the actual game is about. Yes sure, it's about romance (and not that much all things considered) and it's pulpy (but not solely because of hot lady aliens), but it's also intricate worldbuilding that touches on a lot of sharp ideas, and a complicated tug-of-war between a genuine and vulnerable belief in reconciliation and community VS post 9-11 US military propaganda and steadfast belief in heroic exceptionalism, and the melancholic yet energizing mood, and the daring narrative systems, and so so much more than the 'We'll Bang OKs" and the "There's No Shepard Without Vakarian" and the whole ME3 ending situation

It's all there, but I'm sad the impact of the series is often reduced to (what I think is) the least interesting parts of its sum

I think one of the funniest things BioWare can do for the ending of Veilguard is give us 3 slightly branching paths at the last moment. Maybe they could signify them with their own color? Perhaps red blue and green and Rook has to limp over a pathway to get to it right after Varric dies a heartfelt conversation? I can’t see how that would be a problem at all and I bet the fanbase would be so normal if it does happen in a beloved BioWare series again

The true ending of ME3 is destroy but only the reapers die because Shepards best friend is Garrus Vakarian and they've learned a little about how to ✨calibrate a giant gun✨

Also Me: Did EDI know that she was going to die? Did she see the possibility, one of a thousand simulations, subroutines running like dreams in the back of her mind? Did she tell Jeff? Or did she feel the Crucible wave catching up to the ship as it was happening, feel its hungry claws reaching for her synthetic synapses, her circuitboard heart? Did they get to say goodbye? Was there time for her to give him a message? Say Thank You, Jeff, I'll always remember you, Jeff, Jeff, I love you- Or did he look over, start calling her name, only to see the blank shell of what used to be his love? Did they hold a funeral for her? Bury her body in the foreign earth of a planet scorched by the heat of their crashing ship (her true form)? Did he ask Shepard afterwards? Did he ask her if she knew, knew what would happen when she made that choice? Did she reply? Did she tell the truth, or lie, her tongue burning like a thousand suns because she is too far broken, too cracked with guilt and grief, to force herself to risk another? Kaiden, Ashley, Mordin, Thane, Miranda, Anderson, EDI - surely another would destroy her beyond repair, so does she lie? Does she crush yet more bodies beneath her boots, saying No Jeff, I would never-

So, earlier on Reddit, someone made a joke about the Destroy ending of Mass Effect and how EDI was probably downloaded onto a USB drive, and I had the bright idea to draw Joker akd EDI having a nice lil picnic post war. And uhh... well....
