...which is probably very few of my followers but hey that's how it goes. Anyway, I made a picrew for making custom Curators and I'm very excited about it! :0
I do intend to add more stuff to it later but it took so much effort to just do this much, I just wanted to get it done XP
Feel free to send me suggestions for it though, even if they'll take a while! (Also if there's any art errors, let me know about that also please.)
Here's my own Curator OC I made using this, Mr. Keys (who's based on a Townsend's Big Eared Bat):
So yeah! Reblog this or tag me with the Curators you make, I wanna see 'em! :3
Curators are a species made by @failbettergames and featured in their browser game Fallen London, (which I highly recommend,) as well as two of their other games in the same universe, Sunless Seas and Sunless Skies. They are kind of hidden and secret though so if you don't know them this is technically kind of a spoiler, sorry XP
my personal headcanon design for Mr Pages, featuring an incredibly stylish (and incredibly unnecessary) pince-nez, and my attempt at adapting a glasses chain for a ten-foot-tall space bat (important in the case of suddenly needing to fly)
based off of a long-eared myotis; a north american bat species that is suitably round and fluffy (look them up, they’re very cute)
don’t ask me how those horns fit under a cloak. red science? probably.
and here is part two!! the last of the bats, coincidentally where all of the complicated ones are. some of these ones were hard to come up with ideas for, so thank you to @the-insouciant-scientist and @thedeafprophet for the help!!
design such below cut or in id
cups is a southeastern myotis, and i used exclusivly clay colors for it
mirrors is a silver tipped bat
wines is a cunty butterfly pied bat, and cloak is inspired by both @house-of-mirrors and @waterlogged-detective
stones is a pallas's long tongue bat (the brooch is a blood diamond)
fires is a Malaysian flying fox and is inspired by @thedeafprophet 's design! (if you get dohble pinged I'm sorry)
pages is spectacled flying fox inspired by @the-insouciant-scientist 's design!!
Revising my design for Mr Mirrors a bit since my old design didn’t follow the in-game description that well (I made that design before Merry even met Mirrors, so… fair.)
Still not absolutely sure about it so I might have to doodle if more.
So I capitulated and bought Mask of the Rose. It's got it's flaws - mostly that sometimes the dialogue is a bit mismatched (for example, a conversation where a character shows you a photo from his pocket, and then immediately loses it while you're standing there, and is confused why his pocket is empty - or the surprising ease with which people just accept the outlandish and move on), but I'm enjoying the insights into the early months after London's fall. Spoilers below!
So Mr Pages. It's the Master you get to interact with most in this game (I'm not sure the others show - I remember a trailer shot of what I assume to be the Vake, but that hardly counts).
Mr Pages... is possibly the most wet-cat-incompetent-tries-so-hard-you-guys while still being a mass-murderer by association that I've ever seen. So far it has revealed to me that it chose London and had to convince the other Masters. It picked London for its literature. Mr Pages hoped that British literature would be the vast trove of love stories they needed.
And five months in, it's read every fucking novel in the city and is realising it made a really, really bad error in judgement.
It also tells you that it voted against rearranging the city. Fires, Irons and Mirrors overruled. Fires, in particular, is responsible for "unpersoning" vast chunks of the city - buildings and inhabitants. It did this in such a way that your memories of the missing person also disappear. Harjit speculates, with concern, whether these people now ever existed at all.
Oh and you also saw the Fourth City drowning in lacre in a mirror at one point. And they saw you.
I'm barely into the Season of Yule, on my first playthrough, and the horrifying revelations keep coming.
The Fool & Mr. Cards (at least the iteration that belongs to @acheronarcanist )
our particular take on fallen london delves heavily into body horror and the Fool is the Neath's first werewolf, for all the horror that entails
