A hot summer at the Soul Society appeared unexpectedly to boil every soul and Shinigami. It was especially painful for those whom Zanpakuto were based on ice, and because of that, Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya would bury himself inside a bathtub filled with ice. But things came out of control when some Zanpakuto remembered those times they were a little “rebellious”…

“Master, I’m melting” Hyōrinmaru says, manifesting right in front of Toshiro who blushes because he is almost naked in front of his own sword’s soul. “Uh! Uh- Hyōrinmaru!” the white-haired pal screams trying to reach for the towel hanging next to him.

Such shout alerted you, as one of the 10th Squad Officer of the Gotei 13 you have to take care of your captain safety. “Captain? Are you alright?” you ask on the other side of the room. Squad tenth walls are kind of thin so you can hear everything.

Not even 10 seconds after, the doors opened, and like a snowstorm Hyōrinmaru followed by Toshiro passed running. “Come back here!!!” “No, I’m gonna stop the heat!!!”

You stand there, gawking. Is that Captain Toshiro wearing just shorts, running behind his manifested Zanpakuto throwing a tantrum because it’s hot? Yes. Yes, it is.

You run after them, searching for your vice-captain, Matsumoto Rangiku. But, as always, she isn’t there. Then, it’s time for you, the third place to help him. You grab his Shihakusho and try to find him.

After wandering around the whole Gotei 13 and stopping by the Kuchiki manor, where you learned Rukia was also running after Sode no Shirayuki you finally met your captain.

Right around one of the corners of the many houses of the Seireitei, Toshiro and you bump into each other. Both hit each other’s foreheads and fall back, creating the perfect moment for Hyōrinmaru to finally run away from you two.

“Ahhh…. Officer!” Toshiro scolds you, rubbing his forehead. “I’m so sorry, Captain. I- I brought you your clothes” you tell him, maybe that would make him forget about the pain. His intense icy blue eyes shine when you mention his clothes and quickly stands up lending you a hand to do the same.

He inspects you to see if you were hurt in silence, and the proximity of his cold hands to your forehead makes you shiver. And it’s not because it was cold, but because Toshiro Hitsugaya is your crush. Man you adore, man you admire, man you lust for.

But he has never seen you as anything but a subordinate from his squad…

You give him his Shihakusho, and he quickly covers up. “Thank you, officer (Name)” he mumbles, perfectly tucking the sash around his tiny waist. You can’t help but look at each and every single movement his hands perform and wish his fingers were interlocked with yours.

“Let’s go, Hyōrinmaru shouldn’t be far. He flew away towards the woods” he says, and without him giving you any order you follow him. That was enough for you to understand you were now on a mission.

Even if the sun was slowly setting, the heat of an abnormal summer would still be felt in your bodies and sweating and panting you ran to the Soul Society’s Woodland…

“I can’t believe I can’t still sense his reiatsu” Toshiro grunts, annoyed with the situation. He is frustrated and feels powerless once again before a rebellious Zanpakuto.

“It’s ok, Captain. Let’s get going. I’m sure we are going to find him” you tell him, maybe trying to sooth his anger.

Toshiro turns around and his icy stare lands on yours. It, paradoxically, begins burning holes into your eyes and you think you should shut your mouth from now on. But he surprises you. Instead of a scolding session, he simply sighs and sits down on the ground.

You instantly crunch next to him, maybe he isn’t feeling well because of the heat? “Taichou, are you ok?” you ask, rather desperately. He takes some time to look up at you, as now his head was hanging in between his knees.

“I- yes, (Name). I’m just tired… are you ok? Don’t you wanna rest a little?” he tells you, with a hint of exhaustion and stress in his words. You bite your lip; you simply wish he could have a least a day to rest but it isn’t up to you.

“I’m ok, Taichou. I can keep going for you, so you can rest” you say, offering yourself, even if your feet hurt and you feel as exhausted as him. “We are going together, (Name). By the way, thank you” he murmurs the last words.

You gasp, and your cheeks become heated. It’s not that Toshiro was rude with you or treat you badly before, but you never hear him say “thank you” to you. “Don’t thank me, Taichou! I’m always here for you” you confess.

Toshiro’s cheeks once again tint into cherry colour, so red and flustered. He has been always a little more forgiving when it comes to you, but you just thought that he treats you this way because of you not being as strong as him. But was it really because of it?

The uncomfortable silence that filled the humid hot air around you soon breaks. Toshiro stands up and trying to avoid your eyes he commands to keep walking. As the sun sets, the night comes and it’s better to rush to find his Zanpakuto spirit. It isn’t really safe to be on such places during the night, and even if he is one of the strongest captains there is no need to expose yourself to evitable dangers.

But, Hyōrinmaru is nowhere to be found and just like the sun hours ago shined bright in the sky now the moon was taking its place. Your captain run up a little hill to take a better look at the valley under it. “I still can’t sense him, so he might be masking his reiatsu… where the hell are you?” he whispers.

The silvery rays of the satellite make Toshiro’s white hair shine in different hues of argentum lights, and the way his Shihakusho flows with the subtle humid breeze hypnotizes you. “Beautiful man…” you think, biting your lip.

A sudden explosion that felt fresh and then icy blew several kilometres from where you are. Black clouds surrounded the sky, and the temperature drops. From extreme heat, to extreme cold.

Snowflakes begin falling from the clouds, intensely, like a snowstorm. In the middle of the summer, of a so exotic hot summer. An icy miracle… You shiver, the summer uniform isn’t enough to cover you and the cold creeps into your bones like stinging blades.

Your captain comes running down the little hill to check on you after the “icy explosion”. “Oi, (Name). Are you ok? Are you hurt?” he asks, suddenly and quickly grabbing your forearm.

“Y-es, Captain. What was that? Why is it snowing?” you ask, confused and evaluating some of the possibilities of why there was a snowstorm all of the sudden.

Toshiro sighs, because he knows too well why this is happening. “Hyōrinmaru, and probably Sode no Shirayuki have created this storm… my Zanpakuto has that ability” he informs you, and you quickly remember that time when he fought against Hallibel.

He seemed to be putting up with the cold pretty well, but you feel like dying of hypothermia shortly. Your teeth chatter, and your skin becomes bumpy all over. Even if you wanted to act like you were ok, you can’t.

And Toshiro notices it.

“Come here, you are gonna freeze” he says and surrounds you with his embrace. He hugs you, so all of the sudden and beautifully you aren’t even aware of this not being a dream. You inhale his scent as your nose gets pressed into the crook of his neck. He smells clean, like freshly out of the shower, and that sends you to heaven.

You are absolutely stunned to speak; you can’t pronounce any word. In fact, you don’t want to. You don’t want to break the hug; you want it to be eternal. Cold or not, you don’t care. If you were to die there, you would do it so happily.

But the storm gets even more intense, surrounded by white gusts of wind you can’t even see pass a few meters. You can sense Toshiro’s reiatsu growing, half annoyed, half understanding he needs to protect you.

“Let’s find shelter” he says, and when he does you realize he has aged just enough to show you his real form. He looks now like a young man, leaving aside his sweet childish façade to more sharp features.

“C-captain” you mumble, amazed by his change. “Heh, don’t be afraid. I just happened to age a little” he says, smirking and killing you with such beautiful gesture.

You let him take you somewhere else. Using his shunpo both of you quickly appear under a little cave the rocks have formed on one of the hills. At least you are covered from the high winds, and as much as he knew he could come back without any problem, he knew he couldn’t leave you alone. Not every person is an ice dragon.

“I should apologize for my Zanpakuto’s behaviour” he says, mortified and looking outside with burning eyes. He is gonna punish Hyōrinmaru… “It’s ok captain, they were probably suffering” you say in between the sounds of your teeth hitting with each other.

Toshiro uses kido to light some flames, even if the winds were enough to turn it off at any moment. He comes closer and sits right next to you. “Come here, you need to warm up” he says, and opens his arms waiting for you to fall over his chest.

You widen your eyes, isn’t he supposed to do something to stop the snow? Why is he asking you to hug him? His Shihakusho now is opened as he has grown and is unable to cover him up entirely.

“Oi, come on. You are gonna die if you don’t do it” he urges you.

“Of course, Toshiro just wants to save my life… this isn’t a romantic situat-“

He suddenly pulls you closer, once again you land over his chest, and his arms snake around your back. Your thoughts were cut short as he squeezes you tightly against his body.

“There, let’s stay like this. He is gonna get tired soon. You are right, Hyōrinmaru was suffering. The moment he feels better with the temperature he will stop. I can’t leave you here on your own, so I prefer to wait and when the climate conditions get better, we will come back, ok?”

“Y-yes, Taichou…” you moan, smiling against his bare chest. Even if he is almost made out of ice, his skin feels warm, warm and like home… After all, and maybe just for some time you will be on the arms of the man that you love.

Some time passes, and both of you, with reddish cold noses look at the sky from inside the little shelter. As if Hyōrinmaru was doing this on purpose, the clouds never covered the moon, and the snowflakes reflect such beautiful light on them. It feels magical and romantic, a fantasy, like fiction, like a romance novel.

“Thank you, Taichou. You shouldn’t hold back for me” you mumble, feeling perhaps like a burden to him. “I shouldn’t… but I want to. I want to protect you, (Name)” he says after clearing his throat, with his icy eyes fixed on the moon. His hand caresses your back up and down and you can’t stop yourself from looking up at his face.

His sharp jaw, his white hair…

Toshiro looked down at you when he noticed your insistent stare. “You don’t believe me?” he asks you, maybe a little troubled as he thinks you aren’t buying the “I want to protect you” part.

“Is not that, Captain… I- I-“ you stutter, maybe if you confess your feelings for him you will be kicked out of the squad… or he will reject you.

But, completely contrary to what you think Toshiro would ever do, he didn’t let you keep trying to say the words he already knew, and instead he planted a sweet peck on the tip of your nose.

“I really, really want to protect you” he whispers, getting closer to your lips. Lips you accept, melting in the sweetest, most warming kiss you have ever experienced in your life… 💖 ~

W.I.T.C.H - now i'm not gonna pretend to be the biggest fan but this used to be THE show for me before WINX came along and i'll always pride myself on being a witch girlie first and winx girlie second (the "not like other girls" syndrome began very early on for me); their powers, the visuals, the adventures combined with the daily struggles of teen girls, the boyfriends, the intro song omg, there is sm about this show, the countless books, the og comic.. good stuff <3

Lovely Complex - my first anime iirc, i wish people would pay attention to it (but also i'm the only one who's allowed to get it, y'know); only a young romantic towering over her classmates could have the chance of understanding my feelings for it

Hana Yori Dango - broooo- bro. this show was made for my basic romantic ass, it was my first asian drama (or one of the first), it introduced me to Matsumoto Jun, had me hooked for two seasons (though im pretty sure i binged the second season and movie in 24 hours, long after i had watched the first season..? idk what that was about)

i am of the opinion f4 thailand did best in many ways but this will forever be THE adaptation in my heart. the songs were unmatched, the drama breathtaking (there are so many cliches that i didn't know were cliches back then lol) and the experience surreal. i'll always treasure this questionable classic 💖

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? - i enjoy this an unreasonable amount - my country's edition, that is; i just like having it in the bg and being a smartass, sometimes i run my mouth off so confidently and proceed to apologise to the tv when the contestant turns out to have been right lol

Weekly Idol - hear me out on this - aside from all of its issues, the show has always been my way of finding more about groups. especially back in 2015, those low quality episodes on yt helped me so much with getting into kpop; it can be very hit-or-miss but i have so many faves; many artists have been on multiple episodes throughout the years and yet show something entertaining every time. you can find new groups to stan through the mixed episodes and learn more about the members of groups you're already interested in (though for that i also rec individual shows like gose, wanteez, monsta x-ray etc.). i'm especially excited for eunkwang and minjoo as the new hosts, they are so funny on their own and i want to see their dynamic so bad

Pride & Prejudice - i've watched this just once but i can't not appreciate the accuracy to the book (except for the iconic lake scene lmao) and it covers british tv, 90s shows, austen books and period dramas all at once - all things i enjoy

Bridgerton - i had a whole piece written bout this but simply put - season 2 and kathony were a Thing for me. got me researching and binging a bunch of jonathan shows, reading most of the book and a bunch of tumblr posts..even looking through gifs now im going feral, i love them

New Girl - i usually play shows like this in the bg but i found myself paying a lot of attention and actually losing it laughing so many times, also nick and schmidt are the most precious intense bromance i've witnessed in fiction

Angerme、were the top batter in the first time slot on the first day、so I was nervous in all sorts of ways、、、

But、when we all huddled in a circle in the wings、we could hear your voices、and my nervousness suddenly disappeared！

Then once we stood on stage、I could hear your voices even through my ear monitor、and as usual your kindness made me emotional and I ended up crying 🥲

Hearing Taーkeー! in 「Tsugi Tsugi Zoku Zoku」 made me happy too！

The time to hear your voices again finally came、、、

It was super duper fun、and my body felt so light、it really passed by in the blink of an eye！！！

Everyone、you must have gotten up and ready early in the morning、and came to the venue to see us、even in the rain。Really thank you very much！🥹

Shinigamis:

🌸 Byakuya Kuchiki – he thinks he smells like flowers, but he doesn’t. He smells like seaweed and gets annoyed if you point that out. Sorry honey, I prefer your natural smell better.

❄ Toshiro Hitsugaya – who knows why, but he smells like sake and Matsumoto will notice. She has a special nose for alcohol and she will point that out. Also Val will tell, and she would say that to him. Another one blushed and annoyed.

😈 Zaraki Kenpachi – Just… don’t mix huevo splash with sweat. Just… don’t.

🦯 Urahara Kisuke – Same as Zaraki, but less smelly. Yoruichi forces him to shower more often, if not she will clean him with a water hose. (and they will have fun and then they will fuck, cause that’s just them)

Pirates:

🟢 Roronoa Zoro: he doesn’t know what it is, he just stole it from Sanji’s drawer. He smells like seaweed too, but rotten. Again, don’t mix body odour with this splash, your huevos will boil in it.

👨‍🍳 Sanji: Well when he realizes his huevo splash is half empty he will most definitely know who stole it. He feels refreshed after using it, but the thing is that Oda said he smells like seafood so… huevo splash will only accentuate his fishy smell

💖 Trafalgar Law: he is allergic to it, he would have a rash and will try to scratch his huevos. That’s why he chose to wear an open kimono during Wano (to scratch his balls)

🦚 Marco: the only one decent. He would smell fresh after a shower, not delicious, but fresh you know. Not like seaweed, not like sake, not like rotten fish.

If you were to ship hana with someone other than ganju who would it be?

I really think Hana has the strongest and most comfortable/natural relationship with Ganju, but there are two people I might pair him with. People have paired him with Rin Tsubokura, but if you pay attention to their interactions, Hana seems almost annoyed by his antics at times. As friends? Absolutely. They're both adorable. As a couple, it wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure Rin is Aro/Ace anyway and all he wants to do is build weird robots in his laboratory cave and eat sweets. Although, Rin would love Hisagomaru lol and Hana's baked goods. Now, to the two people I might pair with Hana if not for his perfect match Ganju. The first one is Momo Hinamori. The novels reveal that they might have been in the same kido/kaido classes at the academy, and she recommended Hanataro by name to become the new lieutenant of squad 8 after the war. He has no combat ability, so I don't think he could become a lieutenant or captain for his own safety really, but it seems that Isane pawned off 3rd seat Iemura, whom everyone hated because he's a prick, to squad 8's lieutenant position just so she could promote Hana to 3rd seat as he deserves after running all of squad 4 himself during the war and doing an amazing job of it, even if he tells Hisagi, Ogido, and some of his squad 4 subordinates that he isn't qualified and doesn't feel he deserves it. You do deserve it Hana you deserve the world I love you! Aaaanyway, Momo and Hana were classmates, Momo is an absolute expert of kido and she can use kaido, and she was aiming for squad 5 from the beginning. Hanataro revealed to Rukia that squad 5 was his first choice, and the kido corps was his second choice as they had already called upon him deeming him worthy of a spot due to his exceptional kido control. You need to have amazing kido control to be able to heal at all, much less become an expert healer. Hana is incapable of offensive kido because his soul rejected it, he is incapable of hurting anyone he just refuses with every fiber of his being and that's why his soul could never manifest into combative energy. But why would Hana even consider squad 5? What does squad 5 have to offer that Hana would want? I don't know. That's why I wonder if he and Momo wanted to stay together after graduation. Hello, Hanataro Yamada tangent helpline? Please help me. Momo also loves to bake cookies, and episode 134 established that cake doesn't exist in the soul society. So imagine Hana baking this immaculate, beautiful cake, and Momo absolutely losing it with excitement. Begging Hana for the recipe, Hana teaches her and tells her all about Heita Momoyama and she's sobbing into the bowl and Hana has to gently push her away before she cries into the batter. 😂 They're both absolutely adorable little cinnamon rolls and their wedding would begin a diabetic crisis that spans every realm. A flower and a peach. 🥰💖 All of their baked goods use fresh eggs from Hanataro's chickens. Momo would love his chickens and they would run to her and hug her like they do with Hana. They just hang out in a flower garden with the chickens roaming about, and they have tea parties and stuff. Everyone loves being invited to their house. Momo might get a pet bunny. Rukia cries when meeting her bunny.

Onto the second person I would ship Hana with, if not for Ganju, it might sound odd, but hear me out. Rangiku. Rangiku Matsumoto. Why? Because all she really wanted was a gentle, lasting love. Hana is the type to provide that. Rangiku is also a person who is extremely understanding and accepting, and she is easy to talk to, she's good at comforting and giving advice, she's done so for Orihime, Izuru and Shuhei. And I know Shuhei is head over heals for Rangiku, but he had nothing but praise for Hanataro in the novels and seemed to view Hanataro as a really, really good person who deserves praise and to be happy. He would want Rangiku to be happy too, so I think he wouldn't be angry or upset and he would give them his blessing. I think Rangiku would be all over Hanataro because he's just so adorable! He's just too cute! And he's loyal and honest and devoted, and she can feel comfort and security in that. Hana could confide in her and tell her everything, and she would be so quick to defend him and protect him. If he told her about the abuse and assault squad 4 members suffer every day from their patients, she'd be down there wrecking shop on them. Hanataro now has a bodyguard, as he would with Ganju too lol I feel as though Rangiku might ask Hana to carry her shopping bags, but feel guilty once the pile got out of control and clearly too heavy. She would carry some too and even enjoy taking Hana clothes shopping for himself. She would hype him up and tell him he's handsome and she'd be aggressively yelling "You're gonna love yourself!" 😂 Which, Hana definitely needs that. She'd take him to the spa, the salon, he'd be nervous, she'd force him to participate, but he might feel okay by the end. She'd want to pamper him and spoil him and build up his confidence and self love. She'd be good at getting him to open up and finally tell someone how he truly feels about how he's treated, and let out all of that pain. She'd be spearheading the reform of squad 4 security and how the gotei 13 views and treats them. She would push Hana up front as the face of it all, and he would be very reluctant, but she would convince him and back him up. I'm sure she wouldn't mind eating Hana's cakes all the time either, they're delicious. Let Hana open a cake shop. Seeing 100% city girl personality Rangiku meet Hana's chickens would be really funny, I think. Hana is gentle and cuddly, and Rangiku just needs love and she would love to cuddle Hana all of the time. She would probably invade his personal space a lot at first, but over time he would begin to trust and understand her more, and vice-versa, so he might not mind after a while. I can see Hana becoming less anxious around Rangiku and being comfortable with her.
