If it's not a trick glass, Colin had some impressive drinking skills (!) It's literally gone in seconds.

Charles witnesses a nasty road rage incident and ropes Andrew in to investigate, much to Derek’s frustration. It’s always amusing when Charles decides to put aside the politics for some actual policing—even if his colleagues would rather he didn’t.

6 55
12 ½
No kiss fine but hazy morning (rain in the night and recently) - F45 ½° at 7 55 am from then to 8 ¼ wrote the last 14 lines of yesterday then looked over bills and wrote note enclosing check for £100 (5 pounds of it in silver) to go by John Booth this morning to ‘Mr. Mackean Yorkshire District bank H-x’ and sent also my letter written last night to ‘Miss Marian Lister Market Weighton’ and then in 25 minutes till 9 10 wrote 2 ½ pp. to M- meant to have written immediately after the funeral (on Monday) ‘but somehow I have felt unusually disinclined to writing, and have written to nobody - I was sure you would, after all, feel a little taken by surprise at the last - when I wrote to you last, I knew that your coming must be too late; but I knew also that to alter your plans was almost impossible; and I grieved over it the less, because, for the last fortnight, any exertion or excitement was carefully avoided - I myself sat in the room without speaking - For your visit to have been a comfort, you ought to have come 6 weeks or 2 months ago - we should all have been glad to see you - But no matter, those who are left will still be glad to see you; and do not delay very long even now - It is already almost the end of the month when shall we expect you? Let me know as soon as you can, for it is possible we may be in York for a day very soon - Do not let this make any difference - only arrive before or after - either will do - if before, why should you not go with us? I think we can give you 24 hours for your mother, and the rest in the minster court - Perhaps the effort of this might be very good upon such parsons at the Micklegate Cromptons, cum multis aliis - it might help to uproot the sickly ideas that grew upon your passing me by twice - But follow your own inclination - or do as you think best - all will be right to me; and you may count upon our being delighted to see you - the house is in terrible disorder - the whole place full of workmen inside and out - but we can take in you and Watson and a footman, too, if you like - we have no regular cook, but do not be too fastidious, and you need not starve with us - I fancy, I have much to ask you, but it is all out of my head at this moment - I hope your house, if full of company, is agreeably so - I make so sure of seeing you in a few days at the utmost, that is useless to add more than believe me, my dearest Mary, always very especially and affectionately yours AL’ - sent by John Booth my letter (the above is the whole of it except the 1st 5 or 6 lines) to ‘Mrs. Lawton Lawton Hall Lawton Cheshire’ -  breakfast at 9 ¾ - A- did her French - out at 10 ¼ - had Mr. Husband -with Robert Mann + 3 at lowering in front of the house - had been at the Lodge road lagging from 6 to 9 am - staid over hours this afternoon - staid till 6 instead of going away as usual on a Saturday at 4pm - Ingham + 2 men and a boy began the outside wall of the cross arch this morning - Mar k Hepworth and c° carting rubble to the Lodge this morning and footings from Hipperholme quarry for Ingham in the afternoon - David Booth began this morning carting stone for rubble from Northowram this morning and Matthew’s brother began this morning to break the stone by the load at the Lodge - Joseph Sharpe (Robert Schofield’s man) spreading rubble on the Lodge - the gardener and Robert Schofield in the walk (bottom of Dolt in the morning) and till about 3pm when I brought them up to the Lodge road with a few young trees - planted a nice beech in the rough walling - Booth + 2 or 3 at the west tower and Abraham and James jobbing and did a little at the ash-place etc in the new court - sat with A- (who had Mr. Horner at 10 am to 12 ½ pm) ½ hour from 1 to 1 ½, except this, and when settling with Booth the mason at 2 1/2 , out all the day - or in and out -saw Holt in the walk at 2 and Joseph Mann - walked homewards with H- and part of the way up the road to beyond the Conery Ing to point out the bottom corner of Park farm Ing for a pit - the idea came into my head only last night - H- never thought that I would have a pit so near the house - I said I did not see that it would be any nuisance - it would be well walled and banked up out of sight - what nuisance could accrue from it - it would be nearly opposite the back Lodge but what would that signify? - H- said the pit would be 80 yards deep - and would be sunk for 20/. a yard - £100 would do the whole considering that I have gin and all ready - At H-‘s pit in Siddal they have got 33DW in ten years - the railroad to go close past on the other side of Raggolds Inn - all Stocks’s coal to the south of it, that not a yard of his coal will be loosed by the railroad but Shugden head coal (Illingworth) will be loosed, and the coal in the farm bought by Mr. Holmes of Mr. Rawson - Holt could not settle about the Machan coal on Thursday - expects to meet all the parties on Monday or Tuesday about it - told him to get 2 respectable people to go down and investigate the trespass of Mr. R- and that of Hinscliffe at Walker pit and SW to lay down the latter on the coal plan - Holt told him to do it before but he said it was of no use so did not do it - H- to get his coal steward Joseph Clayton and --- Cookson of Elland to go down Walker pit and examine the trespasses on Monday or Tuesday next, or as soon as he can - came in at 6 - dressed - dinner at 6 ½ - coffee upstairs - read Saturday’s Halifax guardian - then looking over royal genealogies with A- till 10 ½ then till 10 55 wrote the above of today at which hour F46° fine day, and very fine moonlight night

THE DA-DARK INSIDE NOT OUTSIDE AND ONLINE (or something)
in true last minute fashion, the postponed Da-Dark Outside meant for last weekend (28th March) is now going ahead online via furtherin.live  on Saturday 4th April from 12 noon UK time and finishing whenever it runs out of things to play that have been sent in.   Here is the list of everyone who sent in something ( not including the ones I don’t have artist names for yet )  If your name is missing, let me know I might have missed that in the folders.  In alphabetical order ( not order of play )  There will not be a tracklist, no listen again function, no archive.  It’s playing once only.

reading and letters
5 3/4 11 Went into the stables - read over and directed my letter written yesterday (about a page taken from that written at Buxton 26 August) to Miss H.M.C- [Crompton] - went out at 7 1/2 - walked as far as the Crownest gates and read as I went along from p. 149 to 164 1/2 Tom. 1. Nouvelle Héloïse - In returning turned down at Charles Howarth’s to see Mr. Robinson’s men Matthew and Richard digging out the bit of new channel for the brook at the new bridge - set it out differently - waved the too straight line, and stood there 1 1/4 hour
Got home at 10 35/60 - sealed and sent (George drove my aunt out in the gig) my letter to ‘Miss Henrietta Crompton Esholt hall Bradford at 11 - had breakfasted and come upstairs at 11 20/60 - wrote the above of this morning etc and from 12 to 3 3/4 wrote and sent off to Mme. Droz (à madame madame Droz, rue Caumartin no. 6, à Paris) 3pp. and 2 or 3 lines on one of the ends - a very kind letter of congratulation in answer to her last announcing her marriage, and filled up with chit chat, and friendly questions respecting how she is going on, etc. expression of my sincere interest in all concerning her - say the climate of Paris agrees with me so well, that should I live to be enough at liberty, my visits to Paris may be pretty frequent - mention my having joked and said to Mrs. B- [Barlow] that by the time she has done with her apartment Quai Voltaire no. 15, I may be ready to take it, and all there as it stands adding ‘However high, there is a something in that terrace that pleases me past forgetting’ - beg Louise (address her by this name) to tell me how Mrs. B- [Barlow] and Jane are looking - concluded myself her ‘ever affectionate and very sincere friend AL’ - altogether a very kind letter
From 4 to 6 1/4 wrote 2 1/2 pp. To Mrs. James Dalton - Dressed - dinner at 6 3/4 - afterwards wrote the last 8 lines - and read aloud from p. 49 to 61 Fosbroke’s Archæology - a few drops of rain while I was out this morning and showers afterwards in the afternoon - Barometer 1 degree above changeable F. 57 1/2º at 9 1/2 p.m. at which hour came up to bed E..O. - read from p. 381 to 398 end of no. 26 Edinburgh Philosophical Journal which George brought me this morning, looked over all the advertisements in this no.

Producer Gathering - A space for the sharing of resources about producing in the arts sector
Producer Gathering is designed to offer insights into and context around independent producing practices happening across the arts sector right now. By offering a large pool of free resources, learning opportunities for independent producers, space for discussion and writings from some of the best in the theatre, live art and dance sectors we want to support and encourage independent producers at all career stages.
By no means conclusive, Producer Gathering is at pilot stage seeking to address an on-going lack of available support for independent producers across the arts sector, who are often overlooked for development opportunities. We are advocating for more funding for initiatives like this to spring up across the UK. We want wider recognition of the essential role independent producers play across the culture sector.
The website includes:
Case Studies of brilliant producers from South East England;
Free Resources to support best and easier working practices including budget templates, successful funding bids, disability & access information, etc;
Sign-posts to other independent initiatives’ websites and other resources;
Commissioned articles giving light to the intricacies of the sector and its mechanisms;
How To guides for producers including venue-related COVID-19 safety measures, digital event production methods, etc;
Following an initial launch in 2016 by Xavier de Sousa and Sally Rose with support from Live Art Development Agency, Producer Gathering has been re-developed and supported by Marlborough Productions in collaboration with Arts Council England.
Producer Gathering has been conceived and is managed by Sally Rose, Xavier de Sousa, David Sheppeard and Carmen D’Cruz for Marlborough Productions in consultation with producers Vicky Graham, Sarah Crompton-Howes, Matthew Jones, Sud Basu, Becca Gibbs & Steve Goatman. Its’ re-development and launch has been supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

Hard Seltzer Sales Surging In Bars and Restaurants, Data Shows
Tumblr media
Off-site sales of hard seltzer soared in 2019, even outpacing vodka in total volume sold. But the seltzer wave wasn’t just limited to stores: new data also shows skyrocketing sales in bars and restaurants.
As cited by The Drinks Business, a new report by research firm Nielsen CGA shows that on-site hard seltzer sales reached $1.2 billion in 2019, an increase of over 470 percent from 2018’s sales of $210 million. Nielsen’s data further shows that restaurants and bars sold hard seltzers to 7.5 million new drinkers in 2019.
Much of the growth came at the expense of beer, with 52 percent surveyed having chosen to opt for seltzer instead. Even more surprising, hard seltzer has surpassed pale ale in weekly on-site sales. Still, Nielsen sees an opportunity for synergy between the seltzer and spirits categories, with 69 percent of those surveyed open to mixing seltzer with rum, tequila, or vodka.
Combined with 2019’s off-site sales figures, hard seltzer as a category reached a total of $2.7 billion in sales last year, exceeding both Business Insider’s conservative estimates, and White Claw’s own optimistic ones.
While this is undoubtedly good news for the major players in the category, their dominance is not assured. “[W]ith suppliers all wanting a piece of the action, competition is going to get intense very fast,” Matthew Crompton, Nielsen’s client solutions director said.
What might help seltzer-craving bar and restaurant patrons choose a favorite?
Hard seltzer on tap. According to Crompton, “having a solid draft offering may end up being the differentiator in winning in the on-premise [market].”
