This is going to sound crazy, but I kind of felt Dansið eða deyið, the tour, and the music video, was the coda or conclusion of an anti-capitalist tale told by Hatari. (I know it was from an earlier song they wrote years ago, having listened to it many times). And that would inevitably mean an end to their performances.

The video was incredibly nostalgic, with reference to all of the interviews, Iceland Music News stuff, and Eurovision. It's the handshake in the video, the eurovision routine being acted out by little hatari, and even the message in the song itself, that seemed to summise an anthology of the corruption in everyday life. To dance or die. It's impossible to live an anti-capitalist life when our only option is to earn money to eat and have a home. Either we make money or we dont live. I've always seen the music as part of a performance, like theatre, so each song tells us a tale of capitalism and the expectations in society we face. I think of William Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience. So, being a performance or a story, it does have an end. I just didn't want to admit to myself that it was indeed the end of something. It does mark the end of an era, which is sad.

I'm not sure if there will be more performances in the future, but I feel like it will be very different, if Matthias did decide to get into it again.

However, I think it's a very honourable thing to get a full-time job and to take care of one's family, and make that a priority. Matthias is totally right to stop doing something he doesn't enjoy anymore. And it is exhausting to combat capitalism every day or to keep thinking about it. There is some irony that Matthias is a copywriter, writing to sell products, something that might manifest itself in his screenplays, perhaps! As he says, the writer never dies.

Aside from that, going on holiday or getting takeout with friends, or buying a new pair of shoes, or spending time with family - those things are what makes life pleasant, they are comforting, and they are totally needed. Sometimes, it is better for one's mental well-being to take the sedative rather than feel the constant pain of the world's injustices.

What I really want to know is, what will happen to all that pleather?

Since 1956, performers from across Europe, Israel and Australia - who are performing their respective songs on the Eurovision stage....

However, there are those Eurovision men (most especially) who make ESC fans swoon and win the hearts out even because of their handsome or charming faces.

So without any further ado, here comes the 2nd batch on my list of the MOST HANDSOME MALE EUROVISION ACTS (just based on my choice or opinion & criteria which are: physical appearance, personality or attitude and presentation on the live stage. Then, its in no particular order)…

by now i have their instagram almost completely committed to memory, lol. and i have no regrets. i wish their costume designer had pics of the layers and just...everything. i just want to see progress layers and concepts or whatever lol, it's great.

I’ve just realized when Hatari took on the stage in Sonar Reykjavik 2017 just a day before Matthias’s birthday :)

Well, that hit the human behind the specs, and they went off to look it up.

So let's relive that via my favourite Icelandic paper, The Reykjavík Grapevine.

Warming up the main stage were the band on everyone’s lips: Hatari. They’re an interesting trio. The drummer stood topless and largely unmoving, wearing a spiked leather facemask, as if plucked straight from the set of Mad Max II. The two vocalists are an utter contrast: one is a flamboyant, whirling presence with a beautiful falsetto voice; the other stands almost completely still, his face resting in an almost-grimace, surveying the audience coldly and occasionally bursting into a fierce rant in a grating voice. Both wear militaristic outfits, shouting and howling over motorik beats and severe synth lines—an odd couple of actor-vocalists that perform a hypnotic stage spectacle. Two dancers moved around them in tandem, marching around dispassionately. Hatari’s authoritarian aesthetic is inherently theatrical, but it also manages to be oddly unsettling: this is art pop for our contemporary dystopia.
