Michael Fassbender is in negotiations to star in “The Department,” an espionage thriller series directed by George Clooney.
Set to start shooting in London this spring, “The Department” is based on “The Bureau,” the hit French spy show created by Eric Rochant. It has already been given a straight-to-series order by Showtime. The series is produced by Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures, MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.
The original French show starred Matthieu Kassovitz as Guillaume Debailly — alias Paul Lefebvre, alias Malotru — a member of a clandestine branch of the French Secret Services (DGSE) who returns to his home base after a six-year mission in Damascus. As he struggles to let go of his false identity and illicit affair with a Syrian woman, he finds himself playing a double game between the DGSE and the CIA. The show was a smash hit on Canal+ in France due to its look at the psychology of secret agents, inclusion of geopolitical issues that resonated with current events and international locations.
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, “The Department” will be executive produced by Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz of MTVE Studios; David Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari of 101 Studios (“Yellowstone”); Alex Berger for The Originals Productions; and Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton for Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America. Rochant is involved in “The Department” as a producer and writer.
Fassbender recently played a professional assassin in David Fincher’s “The Killer.” He is represented by Conor McCaughan, Range Media Partners, Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern and Tapestry.

Who is Fabrice Mathieu ?
Passionate about cinema, Fabrice Mathieu started studying at the French Film school ESRA while making his first short films in Super 8 and video. From his initial encounters a new group was born "Mauvaises Graines (Bad Seeds)" composed of actors, directors and musicians. Together they created pastiches based on commercials, trailers, television and movies of the 90s while working on different concepts of programming content for the small screen. He later co-directed the short film Reality Toon "Dr Kill & Mr Chance".
He has been sharing his love of movie soundtracks on the airwaves for over ten years on the Vallee FM radio show "7eme Symphonie". Following the tender of Matthieu Kassovitz for his film "Babylon AD", he directed "Eau de Mars (Water on Mars)", a futuristic commercial selected and integrated into the movie. Increasingly attracted by imagination, he wrote his first feature film script called "Dans l’Ombre (In the Shadow)", a film noir with shadows. He directed a short film to promote this project. Then he met the artist Marc Giai-Miniet and discovered his art through Philippe Giai-Miniet, actor and nephew of the painter. Both attracted by the universe of the plastic artist, they wrote the short film "Mémoires Vives (Memorium)" which tells the journey of a deceased in the afterlife.
Movies Mashups
Since 2013, Fabrice Mathieu is interested by Movies Mashups.
He directed "Master of Suspense" starring Alfred Hitchcock as a killer, "Darth by Darthwest", a close encounter of the third kind for Cary Grant chased by a TIE fighter, "Raiders of the Lost Darth" with a new hero Indy Solo, "Cheese Trouble", where Wallace and Gromit have problems with Minions, "MIB: Men in Blues" where the Blues Brothers are the new MIB, "HZ: Hollywood Zombies" a meteor strikes Hollywood and the movie stars become zombies.
Then, "Far Alamo" (Vimeo Staff Pick), in which stars of western fight against giant arachnids, "TS: Terminators" with a lot of Schwarzy who fight each other, "Moon shining" a mockumentary about Kubrick on the set of Apollo 11, The episode 2 of "Darth by Darthwest" with Cary Grant in the Millenium Falcon, "The End" (Vimeo Staff Pick) made with 600 movies gifs, "TS2: Terminators 2 primary targets" with the return of Sarah and John Connor.
In 2022, Fabrice Mathieu made a new version remastered in HD of his short film and feature project "Dans l'ombre" ("In the shadow").

jasmine ⇢ do you have a movie or book you loved but will never watch/read again?
chamomile ⇢ what kind of things do you like receiving as gifts?
papyrus ⇢ if you put your ‘on repeat’ playlist on shuffle, what’s the first song that comes up? what do you like about it / associate it with?
jasmine -> if the reason is emotion, then I don't think I can go through La Haine (Matthieu Kassovitz) again. I think it's a must-watch movie but it's kind of depressing especially when you already know what happens at the end, that it doesn't get better or matter in the end... Yeah
And length-wise, god I love Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint (ORV), it's a masterpiece of a novel, and I want to read it again but it's so daunting. 551 chapters. Came in at around 4000 pages on my ereader. It's insanely long, insanely good but I'm not sure I will ever have the willpower to read it again cover to cover.
chamomile -> I actually hate receiving gifts 💀 just bc most of the time ppl don't know what to get me, and then I feel like I have to repay it somehow, it's a whole Thing that I'm not fully able to deal with...
That said. Gifts I do like. Handmade stuff, that ppl put time in, that really touches me 💙
papyrus -> the song небо с молоком by tequilajazzz, I like the whole album that it's from bc it's very noisy post-hardcore that mixes a bunch of different elements, spoken word, jazzy melodies (tho not rlly in that song), both "crazy" sounding and chill stuff... So yeah it's very eclectic and noisy and I love these 2 things in particular!
