Canadian Leylah Annie Fernandez and Taylor Townsend were defeated by second seeds Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula 7-6(6), 6-2 in the final of the WTA 1000 in Miami. Fernandez has now a 0-2 record in WTA doubles finals, also finishing runner-up with Bethanie Mattek-Sands earlier this year in Auckland. Gabriela Dabrowski is still the last Canadian to win a WTA 1000 doubles title with her victory last year in Madrid (she has a total of 4 WTA 1000 doubles titles, including the Miami Open in 2017).
