I love books that are written from the 2nd person where the author just pauses the story to trauma dump on the reader

"What about the bird in the other picture?" said Max-Ernest. "Maybe it's like the North-West South-East African Go Five Blocks and Turn Left Rainforest
Parrot or something?"
Yo-Yoji laughed. "That was kind of funny, dude."
"Really?" Max-Ernest smiled, gratified.
and other underrated moments of friendship honestly

Max-Ernest's parents gave him two names because they couldn't decide on one then basically split him into two people because they were too selfish to coexist for their own son and now I'm unwell goodnight

Cass and Max-Ernest will never stop making me feel inadeguate: when I was 13 I could barely tie my shoes and they fucking destroyed Scientology.

I just love Cass's and Max-Ernest's friendship. They're both lonely, struggling kids who have trouble connecting to other people. Finally, they find a peer who doesn't look down on them.
This scene when they first meet is so touching. They have learned to be suspicious of other kids, as they have experienced constant mockery and insults. But now they realize that the other one is not going to judge them or make fun of them.
Over time, they learn to trust, understand and like each other. It's seriously one of my favorite friendships in fiction. ❤️
