V nació el 30 de diciembre de 1995 en Seo-gu, Daegu, Corea del Sur. En su adolescencia estudió en Korea Arts School, donde se graduó en 2014. Carrera BTS Se unió a Big Hit Entertainment en 2011. El 13 de junio de 2013, V debutó como miembro de BTS en M! Countdown con el sencillo «No More Dream» de su primer álbum debut, 2 Cool 4 Skool.1 El 1 de febrero de 2016, se anunció que V y Kim Min Jae participarían en el programa Celebrity Bromance de MBC. El primer episodio se transmitió el 4 de febrero en MBig TV. En el mismo mes, se confirmó que V establecería su debut como actor en el drama histórico Hwarang: The Beginning, que se emitió en la mitad de 2016 en KBS 2TV. Formó parte de la banda sonora del drama en el que participaba Hwarang: The Beginning junto a su compañero y miembro de BTS,Jin, con el tema «Even If I Die, It's You».
