McDanno Christmas Story

Exerpt: Steve turns around and looks straight into the most handsome face he's seen in a long while. The guy has the bluest eyes and a great, attractive smile. Steve simply forgets to answer his question. He stays there instead, rooted to the spot, and stares at this guy he has never seen in town. Steve even checks him out just because he's so fascinated by the red apron with a huge Santa Claus on it and the Jingle Bells text. His eyes caught on the tight shirt and how it outlines the muscles underneath. The guy has square shoulders and a strong neck. Steve doesn't mean any harm by staring, doesn't think that he might come across as creepy and too intense. But he can't take his eyes off the guy because something is happening, something so utterly confusing . . . there's suddenly this . . . silence – like fallen snow – inside him. It's the kind of silence he thought would never find the way back into his head. Steve is almost shocked about this unexpected moment. It feels so amazing just to stand there and look at the good-looking dude, a cop, who's still smiling at him, by the way, like Steve's the best distraction he's seen in a while. And for a second, Steve loses himself in this fantasy to be of interest to this handsome guy in front of him.

PHIL DAVIS: Well, if you'd rather forget it.

BOB WALLACE: How can? You won't let me. Since you saved my life, you decided you had the right to run it. You ootched me along every step of the way. You hammered, drove, pushed, shoved, and if that wasn't enough, you'd look at me with those great big cow eyes of yours, point at that phony arm, and I'd melt and go along.

PHIL DAVIS: Well, I don't expect any gratitude.

BOB WALLACE: Well you're going to get it. We did great, and I'm grateful. So, thank you. Thank you, Phil Davis, from the bottom of my heart. Now will you let the rest of my life alone?

PHIL DAVIS: No, I won't.

BOB WALLACE: Well, why not?

PHIL DAVIS: Because you're a miserable, lonely, unhappy man.

BOB WALLACE: Oh, you're wacky. I'm a very happy man.

PHIL DAVIS: Well, then you're happy for the wrong reasons and that's the same as being lonely and miserable except it's worse.

BOB WALLACE: You know something? You're off you're nut about a mile and a half. I've got everything in life I want.

PHIL DAVIS: Oh sure. I'm off my nut a mile and a half--

BOB WALLACE: At least.

PHIL DAVIS: You've got everything you want except the most important thing.

BOB WALLACE: What's this?

PHIL DAVIS: A girl.

BOB WALLACE: I'll get around to that one of these days.

PHIL DAVIS: My dear partner, when what's left of you gets around to what's left to be gotten, what's left to be gotten won't be worth getting whatever it is you've got left.

BOB WALLACE: When I figure out what that means, I'll come up with a crushing reply. What's back of all this anyway?

PHIL DAVIS: Nothing, nothing. Only you're happiness.

BOB WALLACE: My happiness?

PHIL DAVIS: Yeah.

BOB WALLACE: You know, when you get an idea that's for my sole and ultimate happiness, there's always lurking behind it somewhere a little angle for you. Now what is it?

PHIL DAVIS: You really want to know?

BOB WALLACE: Yes, I really want to know.

PHIL DAVIS: All right, I'll really tell you.

BOB WALLACE: Well, then lay it on me, will you?

PHIL DAVIS: Ever since the day we became producers, you're a changed man. You've gone absolutely berserk with work. And the strange thing is, you liked it. You like being Rodgers and Hammerstein.

BOB WALLACE: Well, it was your idea you know.

PHIL DAVIS: Well, sure it was my idea, but I didn't think I was going to create a Frankenstein. From that day on, I haven't had one minute I could call my own.

BOB WALLACE: What do you want me to do about it?

PHIL DAVIS: I want you to get married. I want you to have nine children. And if you only spend five minutes a day with each kid, that's forty-five minutes. And I'd at least have time to go out and get a massage or something.

BOB WALLACE: You don't expect me to get serious with the kind of characters you and Rita have been throwing at me.

PHIL DAVIS: Well, there's been some nice girls, too, you know. Phil: "They didn't go to Smith."

BOB WALLACE: Yeah, yeah, like that nuclear scientist we just met out in the hall.

PHIL DAVIS: All right, they didn't go to college. They didn't go to Smith.

BOB WALLACE: Go to Smith? She couldn't even spell it.

PHIL DAVIS: Oh, that's very funny. (fake laughter) The crooner is now becoming the comic.

BOB WALLACE: Phil, let me tell you something. There's a lot of sense in what you say, and I have to admit it. But the kind of girls you and I meet in this business, they're young and they're ambitious. They're full of their own careers. They're not interested in getting married, settling down and raising a family.

PHIL DAVIS: That's funny, Bob, I never heard you open up like that before.

BOB WALLACE: Someday the right girl is gonna come along, and if she'll have me, we'll get married. We'll settle down, and we'll start having those nine kids for you. Forty-five minutes going to be enough?

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do respond to comments, but in a completely random and haphazard way because I am incable of being organized😂

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? My H50 comment fic ‘Anger’ is definitely my most angsty ending. And yes, it’s yet another fic I need to cross-post to A03…

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? It’s a toss up between Care and Feeding and Bodyguard. I love happy ever afters!

Do you get hate on fics? Not on my fics per se, but I called out some people who were bullying a friend of mine in another fandom—and they decided to repost all my fics on other sites to punish me for speaking up. So, now all my fic is on Dreamwidth and friend-locked. I am slowly cross-post H50 fic to A03, but I doubt I will ever cross-post fic from that other fandom.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I will write sex if its necessary for the story, but porn is definitely one of my weak spots as a writer.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Occaisonally. I wrote an Addams FamilyxAvengers that was very short and very silly😂

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yes, many. At least I am really good at writing DMCA letters now?

Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope, but I had few pod-ficced ages and ages ago.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? I used to co-write regularly, but my co-writers all got super busy😭

What's your all-time favorite ship? I think McDanno has ruined me for all other ships.

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? I have a X-MenxSupernatural fic that my co-writer had to abandon.

What are your writing strengths?I love to world build and have been told my AUs are very believable. Even when I do really crazy stuff, like **checks notes** space spiders.😁

What are your writing weaknesses? Writing sex scenes. Definitely.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

In general, I think writers are still working out how to write fanfic that is easy to read on mobile screens. For example, long paragraphs and conversations between more than three people are sooo much harder to read on a mobile phone.

Heck, I’ve even stopped using italics for dream sequences/flashbacks because it’s just not readable on a small screen. And then there’s coding. **Sigh** Dreamwidth has updated their coding and now I really need to reformat my entire journal because the changed have made my older fanfic much harder to read.

So when it comes to different languages or dialects, I try to come up with something that will make it easier for my readers, instead of relying on the ‘proper’ way to do things. I don’t know if I’m always successful, but I at least make a stab at it. And since I have a fic I’m currently rewriting that has 13 different languages in it, I definitely spend more time than I want to admit thinking about this problem! 🥵🤪

First fandom you wrote for? Duran Duran bandom. Yes, I just dated myself😂😂😂

Favorite fic you've ever written? My fic with the most kudos is Care and Feeding of a Super SEAL. The fic that people are still dming me about is So Let Me Set Your Battlements On Fire over on dreamwidth.

“I have a side bet on Danny making the first move—double or nothing. Kamekona also bet me that Danny will want it slow and won’t let Steve move him in before six months. There’s no way Steve won’t kidnap Danny and the kids at the first opportunity once they’re together.”

I don’t normally like romcoms but Hallmark Channel Christmas AU where Grace makes a wish so that Danno’s happy for Christmas and the next day they run/clash into Steve in some way and she’s convinced this is her wish...idk maybe she makes the wish to a Mall Santa who looks VERY realistic and whatever cryptic answer he gives just happens to fall very well into how she and Danno first meet Steve...and they KEEP running into him!

Much Ado About Something

this one is only just started and is the fault of @itwoodbeprefect (said lovingly) because what happened was i rambled the premise at her in dms and she went 'PLEASE write that' and then never let me forget about it so. now i'm writing it. said premise (slightly refined) is that Grace is studying specifically Beatrice and Benedick's plotline in Much Ado About Nothing for school, and through the extremely detailed and clever plan of. asking them, she ropes Steve and Danny into helping her by reading it out with her (with Steve as Benedick and Danny as Beatrice). this leads to. realisations.

A double-decker sandwich turned to greet them in the kitchen. Charlie was sitting on Steve’s shoulders holding a cheese slice in one hand and a cherry tomato in the other, while Steve was holding a loaf of bread and had a lettuce leaf dangling half out of his mouth like a depressed brontosaurus. 

“Hi, Gracie!” they chorused in unison, the lettuce somehow not budging, and Danny thought about Christmas cards and family albums and blackmail material. Except that one of the things Danny loved most about Steve was that he would never deign to be embarrassed by anything that made a kid happy. Especially if it was Charlie or Grace.

As it happened, that thought also should have tipped him off to future events.

this is also. kind of squares' (iwbp) fault. we were talking about steve/danny/cath and. hm. well. there was some sequence of dominoes in my head and now i'm writing a cath/steve/danny pwp (in that order bc the cath/danny part is mostly tangential. it's really '*meme voice* wow steve how come your mum lets you have TWO doms?' the fic.). Steve gets Cath to answer his phone while he's going down on her in case it's work and. things go downhill from there. or uphill, if you're Danny's dick.

She reaches down and pushes Steve’s face away to slide two fingers into herself, pressing hard against her inner walls. Steve moves up slightly, mouthes at her clit, and it’s enough to send her into her second orgasm of the night, arching into Steve’s mouth and her own hand, tensing with her head pushed back into the pillow as Steve keeps patiently working her through it. 

She’d originally had plans to push to three tonight before Steve fucked her, but when she comes down from this one, she’s honestly more intrigued by the whole spectacle going on here. 

Danny’s still talking. She’s missed what he’s said for the last few minutes, but when she buries a hand in Steve’s hair he bucks into the touch the way he only does when he’s close, and when she uses that hand to pull him off - partially because she’s going to be oversensitised for a minute here, partially because she wants to see his face - the first noise he makes is something halfway between a moan and Danny’s name. 

“Hey, Steve,” Danny, frankly, murmurs like they’re waking up on a honeymoon, then checks, “Cath?”

Cath’s not sure whether he’s checking she’s okay with her boyfriend having what has very much become phone sex with someone else or just that she’s okay with Steve using his mouth for other purposes, but either way, “Yep, right here.”
