Writing a lighthearted time travel fic for father’s day. Kirk and McCoy somehow get sent back to 2230 during a transporter malfunction and end up on First Officer Pike’s ship, the Antares. As y’all know, I love me some McPike, and this fic is an extension of last year’s father’s day fic which also feature McPike.
The question is whether or not Kirk and McCoy tell Pike about their relationship. If they don’t, Pike figures it out by McCoy’s painfully obvious longing looks and sighs and blushes. If they do, it’s Kirk that reveals the secret in a sort of tit-for-tat childish way after McCoy tells Pike about this being the only chance for Kirk to meet his father.
On one hand, you have flirty shenanigans. On the other, you have Kirk allowed to act like a bit of a kid because Pike is the only person he ever felt comfortable doing that around.
I don’t know what to go with, they’re both good options. 😭

McPike Mansion
Illinois
Tucked away in the southwest corner of Illinois, not far from St. Louis, lies the town of Alton. Considered one of the ‘most haunted small towns in America’ Alton has no shortage of ghost stories and haunted places. One of the best known is the McPike Mansion.
The Italianate-Victorian style building looms over citizens of Alton from atop the highest point of the town, Mt. Lookout. Nestled among contorted oak trees, McPike Mansion ranks as one of the most haunted buildings in the state. The structure has been featured on two television shows, ‘Scariest Places on Earth’ and ‘Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files.’
Tumblr media
The three-story red brick building was erected in 1869 for Henry McPike and his family. McPike was a local businessman and horticulturist. He served as mayor of Alton for three years and developed the nationally known McPike grape. With its 16 rooms and vaulted wine cellar, the McPike Mansion was one of the largest and most extravagant private dwellings in Alton at this time.
The mansion’s next owner was Paul Laichinger. During his time in the home, Mr. Laichinger rented out rooms to boarders. Soon, these tenants began to experience strange events that could not be explained. Some of these occurrences involve the sounds of children playing and laughing together when there were no children on the grounds.
Tumblr media
After Laichinger’s death in 1945, the property sat vacant. Weather and trespassers helped to turn the dwelling from elegant to menacing. The rusting iron fence, broken windows, dilapidated structure and graveyard made passersby intrigued and fearful. Reports of faces looming in the windows began to surface.
In 1994, the McPike Mansion was purchased by Sharyn and George Luedke. Their hope is to restore the building to its former glory and allow it to serve as a bed and breakfast or a historical attraction. Within six weeks, Mrs. Luedke had her first experience. She was gardening in the front yard when she looked up to see a strange man staring at her from the window. He soon disappeared, but not before she was able to take note of his attire. Later, while researching the history of the mansion, Mrs. Luedke was startled as she came across a photo of previous owner Paul Laichinger wearing the same outfit as the man in the window.
Tumblr media
Since then, McPike Mansion has hosted numerous psychics and mediums. Many have felt the presence of the McPike family and other residents of the estate. Sharyn Luedke herself believes the ghost of not only Paul Laichnger, but also of servant girl Sarah Wells roam the halls. Her lilac perfume can still be smelled in the attic.
Other experiences include light orbs that appear in photos, sensations of being touched, pacing footsteps and vanishing objects. Some of these have been caught on film. The most active room in the house is the wine cellar. Here a mysterious mist appears and seems to follow visitors as the move around the basement. A bulky metal door leading to the area scraped across the floor as it moves on its own.

McPike Mansion
Henry Guest McPike was a multi-faceted spirit. He was a two-time mayor of Alton, Illinois, and a kingmaker in local politics. He dabbled in horticulture, propagating his own variety of grape coveted in winemaking circles. He was also a skilled businessman, who counted real estate and insurance among his ventures. A man of such prominence needed a stately home, and, in 1869, McPike commissioned a local architect to build an ornate Italianate-style estate on a 15-acre compound in Alton.
McPike adored the property, particularly the grove of fruit trees, before he succumbed to a brief illness at the house in 1910. Legend has it, his spirit never left.
For more than a century, local lore has held that the home now known as McPike Mansion is haunted by its original owner.
McPike, however, may not be the only apparition who has seemingly taken eternal residence inside the mansion’s walls. Sharyn and George Luedke, who have invested thousands of dollars in renovating the dilapidated house since purchasing it in 1994, believe there are a dozen spirits who have maintained a presence in and around the home.
Among the putative spectral inhabitants is Henry’s mother, Lydia. “She’s the matriarch of the family,” Sharyn says. “She is a pretty strong presence who likes to be introduced when I bring people into the entranceway.” McPike’s first wife, Mary, also makes regular appearances. “She’s kind of shy, but she’s a good spirit,” Sharyn says. “She loves children.” There have also been encounters with McPike’s son, James, and daughter-in-law, Jenny, who Sharyn calls the trickster of the spiritual group. “She’ll touch people. Not in a harmful way—she might tug on your hair a little bit or touch your ear.”
Neither Lydia nor Mary lived in the mansion before their deaths, and not all of the supposed spirits are of the McPike clan. Sharyn says she’s felt the spirit of a woman named Sarah, who is believed to have been a personal attendant to the McPikes. Sharyn claims that at least three children who may have lived on the property before McPike purchased it still haunt the grounds today.
No earthly bodies have lived in the house since 1954—it was long ago condemned—but the site has become a popular destination in recent decades for hunters of paranormal activity. Recently, a photograph captured a dark shadow in the doorway to the cellar. “It’s pretty obvious,” Sharyn says. “That was Henry.”

Apologies to anyone waiting on me to update Bully and All Things Left Unsaid. I’m going feral over my new fic, One More Time. What was meant to be a silly little Father’s Day oneshot turned out to be a 16k+ word, 8+ chapter time travel fix-it fic where AOS McCoy and Kirk fix every major broken thing about their universe.
At first I was worried people would think it impossible, weird, or out of character, but is it really? They witnessed what happens when someone from another universe comes and does something to their universe: you change the timeline. They don’t disappear, the world doesn’t end, people (Chekov) still get born. The micro changes, but not the macro. Plus Star Trek has some pretty whack canon episodes, especially in TOS, so there’s nothing in canon stopping me them from pulling these stunts, either.
So yes. McCoy and Kirk are gonna save both their daddies, save Pike, save Vulcan, get ahead of the Khan situation, warn Number One, and whatever else they can get their grubby little hands on. McCoy takes Do No Harm seriously, and that includes preventing harm. 😤

anthonygreen666 This album Doom. Spun. is a collection of experimentation and collaboration, like a collage of moments from my life since Boom. Done. was released. I began building the record using some of the songs that didn’t fit on Boom. Done., Megadeath is a song that I have been working on for the past few years. I recorded an electronic version of the song with my friend Death Barrier during the pandemic and on the first week of the tour, I was workshopping a solo arrangement that really seemed to be connecting with the audience. When I played my hometown of Philly, we had the chance to record the new version at the @.worldcafelve studio with @.toddmec and had members of the audience sing backup vocals on it. Being able to record this song while on tour and with people who were attending my shows was a truly unique experience. I am excited that the essence of these experiences is captured in the heart of this song. Megadeath is out now. Doom. Spun. is out June 26th on @.bornlosersrecords. Pre-order the LP and merch in my bio and stories.
