every once in a while i remember that steam has a "discover queue" that is supposed to be filled with games that you will "like". i would love for that to be the case but unfortunately, reality doesn't line up like that. i spend a good amount of my free time playing steam games and it doesn't even remember that i like first person shooters. do you know it recommended me disney dreamlight valley? i had no clue what that even was. i got recommended it because of the two hours i have in american truck simulator. does that gameplay match up? i don't think so. i would love to know if it does. does disney dremalight valley have in depth truck driving mechanics? please tell me it does. i want something to be real in this miserable life of mine.

i knew nothing about the game until my sibling was in town and offered to play it with me and some friends, with us making consesus decisions on what to do

for context, my sibling Knows this game. theyve played it inside and out, knows the lore and endings, and (perhaps most pertinently) theyve played it with several other groups of people including several college friend groups and a philosophy professor and gender studies professor during office hours.

and they used their experience to gently steer us away from choosing dialogue that wouldnt reveal anything new to us and react to unique moves we made.. that combined with the peanut gallery of me and my friends (an asexual strategy gaming fanatic, a pretentious ludonarrative enthusiast, and a girlboss who spent the entire stream playing american truck simulator in the background with a soundboard that interrupted the drama every time she crashed)

and honestly? that was not only the most fun ive had with a game in a long time but also might have been the best possible way to experience this game. i called the twist within the second loop and spent the rest of the time obnoxiously waxing poetic while each of our loudly overlapping opinions on the situation ended up being embodied in the game perfectly by one of the voices

and even though this was the dozenth or so time my sibling went through the game with other people, we managed to get an ending they had never seen before. because we were the only group who didnt bother picking up the knife the very first time.

I play a ton of other games! If I had to name overall favorites, it'd be Red Dead Redemption 2, The Last of Us, The Ghost of Tsushima, Our Life, and God of War: Ragnarök. I play a huge variety tho: anything from FNAF to Life is Strange to Deltarune to Stardew Valley to American Truck Simulator (listen it's relaxing lmao).

I prefer PC gaming, but sadly my laptop is, uh, very weak so I can't play most AAA games on it. I would love to eventually have a gaming laptop (and desktop once I'm settled down in my own place). For now, though, I do a lot of my gaming on my PS4 and Switch. My first ever console, though, was my beloved Gamecube <3

Genre-wise, I'm fairly open-minded. With some exceptions (like the Sims, technically) I'm alllll about story. I'll play games with gameplay I don't even like if the story and characters are good. A vast majority of the time, story really is the most important thing to me. But, in general, I'm a single-player person who loves a game with some horror elements and good combat (as long as it's not all combat).

For the bonus, I loooove character customization. I make unique characters for all games (sometimes multiple) and I love when choice-based games let me develop their personalities. || The Year 2022 in Review ||

So, @her-enlightened-ladyship​ made a review of her 2022 year, wherein she read 100 books and travelled and accomplished things. And then she tagged me, assuming that I also did a lot of things in 2022 besides doing a book and taking a lot of naps.

Well, maybe I did. Let’s see.

Projects I am proud of completing :

Put together a bunch of my Kuja art into my own zine, with print copies that people actually bought, which was nice. The digital copy is over at @kujazine for everyone who wants one now.

Took more naps.

Cooked an omelette without dropping it on the hotplates or turning it into scrambled eggs.

Started making an RPG game with help of @xzidane. We’ve made the whole story, now its time to make maps.

Got back in touch with a dear writer friend and started writing our story again.

Talked to a lot of neat people.

Got invited to partake in a Final Fantasy IX zine as a guest!

I’ve been using what energy I have to write - I’m working on fics for @samwinchesterzine2023 and @spnproshipbang and have submitted to the Folger’s Flash Exchange! - and play American Truck Simulator, both very therapeutic and relaxing in their own way for me.
