Supa Mega leaves the Megacy with a precious parting gift - The Mass Country album

As the Megacy and the nation at large struggles to heal from the deep wound of losing Aka, the release of his much anticipated posthumous offering is a timely analgesic. The Mass Country album is worth more than a barrel of gold. Aka’s patriotism is evident in his use of vernacular and beautiful local sounds that resonates with the masses. Some of the best talents in South Africa in Emtee, Nasty C, Khuli Chana, Yanga Chief, Thato Saul and Sjava were all featured to add some sauce to the already hot ‘Chakalaka’, The Braai show host had already prepared. Well-renowned engineer, Robin Kohl and a stellar team of producers amalgamated to make the timeless songs on the track list, while multi-award winning illustrator and street artist, Karabo ‘Poppy’ Moletsane grabbed the attention of the masses with the unique design of the album cover art. It’s contemporary African aesthetic perfectly fits the theme of the album. The piece honors the traditions and the rich history of South Africa while celebrating a national treasure. Nasty C) You likely to find yourself singing along to the words of the song when the beat comes on: “Tracksuit Versace, pull out the set Zip up the off white up to the neck Call up the slay queens, pour out the Ace Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, baby Ooh, ooh The Stardust sample was recreated to perfection! Even Busta Rhymes would have been so proud of how his lines from “As I come back” was utilized. One of the funniest moments of the song was this golden quotable by Nasty C, “Zaba Zaba Zaba Zai Zaba Zai Always out the country I'm guess I'm a Zai Zai” (We will surely need a baby language translator for this line! It sounds amazing on the flawless instrumental) This radio smash hit will keep the vibe alive on dance floors for many years to come! - Company (ft. KDDO)  It was exciting to hear another song from these two after their 2018 smash hit, “Fela in Versace” Their musicalchemistry is undeniable. The song “Company” on this new album has such a catchy Afro beat vibe but it has the least likely lyrics to impress your wife! LOL. The song grows on one over time. After playing it a few time, you may find yourself chanting: “One girl not enough for me, two girls not enough for me, three girls not enough for me!” - Dangerous (ft. Blxckie & Nadia Nakai) This is a song of romantic passion, where The Supa Mega and Bragga embraced their uncontrollable, unapologetically loud and overwhelming feelings for each other while Blxckie can be heard singing on the chorus “I don’t see nobody else right now, just me and my baby.” It would have been beautiful to see a music video to this song that really solidified the couple’s chemistry and broke the internet in the process. - Diary (Anxiety) Supa Mega shows listeners that he was human after all.

On this song, he candidly opened up to his diary about his struggles with anxiety and shared intricate details about one of the most challenging chapters of his life story. Despite the heaviness of the subject matter, the infectious beat somehow mysteriously makes you want to dance! Kiernan Jarrad Forbes will forever be remembered for the barrels of Gold he gave the masses through his classic catalogue. Release Date Of New Song From Late Rapper AKA With A Nigerian Producer Announced

The release date of a new song from the late South African rapper, AKA with a popular Nigerian producer, has been confirmed by his family.

Following the tragic death of the multiple award-winning rapper AKA in South Africa, his family and music partners have confirmed that the rapper's last project before his death 'Mass Country' would be released on the 24th of February 2023.

However, this was not the only announcement made in the shared press release; it was also confirmed that a new single titled 'Company' by AKA with famous Nigerian producer Kiddominant would be released on Friday, the 17th of February, 2023.

Talking about the project and song a long-time friend, advisor and business Partner @Vth Season’s, Raphael Benza revealed:

“Kiernan worked very hard on this project. The energy and the expectations from the Megacy fuelled him to make a masterpiece. Singer AKA to be buried on February 18

The family of late South African rapper, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, better known by his stage name, AKA, has announced details of his funeral and memorial details. AKA will be laid to rest in a private provincial funeral on Saturday, February 18 and his memorial service will take place on Friday, February 17 at the Sandton Convention Centre at 3pm. On the 10th of February 2023, the sad news of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes shot dead on Florida Road sent shock waves through the streets of South Africa. If his memorial, which was held at the Sandton Convention Centre last week Friday, is anything to go by – AKA’s family, friends and legions of fans known as the ‘Megacy’ had the deepest affection for him. Those who attended or watched the service from their homes were surely touched as tears flowed down his daughter Kairo’s cheeks. Perhaps it is the burning love he felt for her that spurred him on to become one of the greatest Hip Hop artists South Africa has ever seen.

According to the TV and Radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo, when AKA was asked what his plan for his career was, AKA responded by saying, “I want the mass appeal of Pro, I want the commercial viability of HHP, and I want to have the stage presence of Brenda Fassie".  If you ask anyone in South Africa, young or old, the likelihood is that they know who AKA was. They might even spit a bar or two from one of his tracks. AKA was not a one hit wonder whose music resonated with a singular demographic. He was an artist who understood the importance of versatility. He created an alter ego, “Supa Mega” that made him a force that was bigger than the headlines and the myriad of controversies he was involved in. The artist’s ability to remain unapologetic about his sound and his vision is the exact reason why AKA was often topping South African radio charts.   Let’s look at five tracks that cemented AKA’s position in the hearts of South Africans: - Victory Lap When AKA dropped Victory Lap he made it clear that he was the newcomer who was here to stay. - Composure Who could ever forget the track that immortalized the greatest and most entertaining artist feuds the industry has seen? In 2015, at the height of his beef with Casssper Nyovest, AKA released a diss track that would remain on the tongues of fans for years to come. - All Eyes on Me This is undeniably one of the best collaborations in the African music industry. When this banger dropped, clubs and radio stations across the continent had no choice but to have All Eyes On Me on repeat. In fact, to this day many fans are still trying to figure out who Shibabadu Shibabu is. - 10 Fingers (with Anatii) Two years after their short-lived beef over Anatii charging AKA R80 000.00 for a beat, the duo dropped their joint album Be Careful What You Wish For.
