Martin’s logico-mathematical approach to metaphysics and cosmology has a very distinguished precedent: Whitehead. By insisting that metaphysical reasoning be firmly grounded in formal logic, Martin ([Logic, 1, 7, 8], [Events, 2], [Mind, 5]) agreed with the Whitehead who wrote: Speculative Philosophy is the endeavor to frame a coherent, logical, necessary system of general ideas in terms of which every element in our experience can be interpreted. ... It will be observed that logical notions must themselves find their places in the scheme of philosophic notions. [Whitehead (1978), 3], cited in [Events, p. 39] ... Martin drew on his event logic to formalize the process philosophy of Whitehead and Hartshorne, and to elucidate difficult passages in Process and Reality and Science and the Modern World ([Whitehead’s, 1, 4, 5], [Mind, 12]), going well beyond Whitehead’s principle of extensive abstraction. Finally, Martin was personally devoted to Whitehead: “It was my good fortune to have been a direct student of Whitehead’s during his very last year of teaching.” ([Logical, p. 200]). He dedicated [Truth] to Whitehead “my teacher and friend.”

Inspector Meguire

I've been reading the Case Closed Manga, and got nostalgic for the anime, so decided to boot it up for background noise and I have to say, Inspector Meguire is easily in my top five favorite characters. I first started watching Case Closed when I wasn't even a teen yet, so back then I never really appreciated him but now I do.

Even though he deals in cases of murder and worse, he always gets a quip or two in. In episode 3, when they got to Yòko's place, he says, "So you unlock your door and there's a stiff new addition to your furniture," so casually.

Then there's the fact he's basically the Junior Detective League's exhausted uncle and has to keep Richard in line too, even when Takagi and Sato are introduced to help take some load off of him, he's the main inspector, head of the department so he still has to deal with them.

I also got through how he met his wife recently and the story is so cute after it's shown she lived after that ordeal, and how reactive he still is about things similar to that case.

I just think he deserves more love an appreciation for helping keep them all on track and having to deal with kids at crime scenes lol

Detective Conan/Case Closed Read Through Volume 21: Part 2

Cutest Moment:

Amy/Ayumi saying that Haibara/Anita is “just like, Conan” because she can also make deductions.

Anything with Sato and Takagi is cute, but this is basically Sato asking Takagi out. I love how much Takagi loves Sato.

Favorite Case:

Shinichi/Jimmy’s first case! This case is so memorable and I love it a lot. It’s hilarious to me how he investigated the crime scene before Inspector Meguire did. He is truly a “do what he wants” detective.

Favorite Character:

Haibara/Anita! She is really starting to grow on me. She’s intelligent in her own right and I think it’s sweet how she tried to protect the Detective Boys/Junior Detective League in the castle when Conan and Doc Agasa weren’t around.

I love how Meguire and Takagi have tried keeping the kids and Dr. Agasa out of cases, but when they know something is off, they look to them for help xD
