introduction perhaps?
My name is Stevie or Kelly, I use any pronouns and prefer neutral language most of the time! I don’t really like labelling my gender or sexuality. I’m a mediocre artist and writer, a plant parent, vinyl collector, a saxophonist, a cat enjoyer and Just A Little Guy. I’m also autistic!
My interests have always seemed to revolve around music, as I am very much sensory seeking when it comes to audio. My favourite artists at the moment are Barenaked Ladies, The Tragically Hip, The Highwaymen (and their solo careers), Melanie (Safka), and Stompin’ Tom Connors. I also have a shrine to Willie Nelson and I’m a recovering Bob Dylan fan /j (I still like him)
As for other forms of media, I’m a big fan of The Muppets and Fraggle Rock, South Park (only Ned and Jimbo and the Marsh family at this point), Garfield, King of The Hill, Stagecoach 1986, BTTF trilogy, Stardew Valley and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.
You can find me on discord, toyhouse, instagram and twitter as shitandpissworldtour! Here’s my carrd https://canadianstereotype.carrd.co/ . My art is all tagged under #stevie draws and my commissions are always open
blogs of mine:
@shitandpissworldtour - main, you’re here rn!
@shitandpissartgallery - just my art
@dan-and-the-dandelions - oc blog!
Anyways :3 hii I’ll probably edit this bc I forgot something

I actually think Melanie's version of the Rolling Stones' "Ruby Tuesday" is better than the original.
Is it me or does she sound a little like Alanis Morissette on the chorus?

Every Record I Own - Day 811: Melanie Candles in the Rain
RIP Melanie Safka.
I first heard Candles in the Rain at my in-law's house back when my husband and I first started dating. My in-laws had been hippies back in the day, and their record collection was a mixture of '60s rock and folk singers that one would naturally assume had been in their orbit. We'd sit around their fireplace at night and listen to various LPs from their collection while we drank and played cards. At some point someone in the family threw Candles in the Rain on the turntable and you could sense everyone in the room getting nostalgic.
I had never heard of Melanie, even though she had performed at Woodstock. She'd actually had a fairly solid career in the folk world, but her general disdain for the music business and her insistence on operating at her own pace and within her own comfort zone meant that she faded from the broader public consciousness, though she continued to perform at folk festivals until fairly late in life.
My in-law's copy of the LP was well-loved... meaning it was beat to shit. We got through a few of Melanie's vibrant and heartfelt Greenwich-style folk songs before the needle started to skip. So I tracked down a better used copy at a record shop in Tacoma for $3 and brought it to their house on my next visit.
And we listened to it enough that I had to pick up my own copy a few months later.

“Brand New Key” Singer, Woodstock Veteran Melanie Dies at 76
Melanie, the folk singer who played Woodstock and is best known for “Brand New Key,” has died at 76, her children said.
The mononym singer died Jan. 23; no cause was given.
“We are heartbroken, but want to thank each and every one of you for the affection you have for our mother, and to tell you that she loved all of you so much,” Melanie’s children said. “She was one of the most talented, strong and passionate women of the era and every word she wrote, every note she sang, reflected that.”
Born Melanie Safka, the singer performed under her first name and scored hits like “Lay Down (Candles in the Rain),” “What Have They Done to My Song Ma” and a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday” in addition to “Brand New Key.”
The singer-songwriter was “truly one of the most beautiful humans of all time with a voice of gold and true genius abilities,” Fernando Perdomo said.
Melanie played Woodstock; launched her own label, Neighborhood Records; and saw her compositions covered by Ray Charles, Mott the Hoople, Nina Simone, Morrissey and others. Todd Rundgren often played “Brand New Key” in concert.
“May Melanie rest in peace and love,” Rundgren’s Spirit of Harmony Foundation said.
