ch. lxvi - anniversary date

soulmate!yunho × reader, wooyoung × reader

!! A N N O U N C E M E N T !!

fated and marked, soulmates are supposed to be your destiny. you are connected to him by his heart and him to yours. but despite the cosmic or even divine intervention, you felt that he is not wholly yours. why is destiny so cruel to you?

You must be crazy to agree to spend what was supposed to be your anniversary with... well, the man you're supposed to spend what was supposed to be your anniversary. It's a uniquely annoying situation. But still, you somehow put thought into your outfit, expecting Yunho to put thought into the date as well.

So there you stood in front of your mirror, wearing a long-sleeved chiffon floral blouse paired with high-rise jeans, and you did your makeup and hair. Truth to be told, you've planned this outfit months ahead. Your and Yunho's anniversary just meant everything to you and you were so excited. But then things happened.

Suddenly, a knock came from your front door, knocking you back into reality. You glanced at the clock to see that it was exactly 4.30 pm which can only mean that Yunho has arrived.

"Okay babes," Liz pulled you to face her, "Remember what I said?" she asked, referring to the conversation you both had as she helped you get ready. The other guys initially insisted on being there as well, but after seeing the three appearing at your door with a metal bat, a cleaver, and a golf stick, you sent them home to avoid any of them "accidentally" harming Yunho despite them saying it was just to scare him off.

You rolled your eyes at her and nod, "Yes, Liz. PB&J," "Which is...?" she urged for you to continue. You sighed but couldn't help yourself from grinning, "Penis, brain, and jaw." Satisfied, Liz nodded as she gently guided you to your door, "That's right, anything weird, those three are the spot to smack with anything near you," she smiled at you reassuringly. Though that smile immediately dropped when she opened the door to reveal Yunho on the other side.

Yunho stood in a navy blazer and dress pants, inside was a white graphic t-shirt and he combined his outfit with white sneakers. Not gonna lie, you wanted to punch him straight in the face for being so handsome yet so infuriating.

As soon as he saw you, a big grin bloomed on his face and he handed you a bouquet of Cornflowers, "F-for you, I tried looking for flowers prettier than you but I ended up frustrating myself and the florist for an hour before buying these." Your heart skipped a beat seeing the beautiful blue and white-coloured flowers. Hope in any endeavour; strengthening your relationship and expressing your love and hope.

Your momentary train of thoughts was cut short when Liz scoffed from behind you and reach to take the flowers from his hands. "Please, she can't be bought this easy. If necklaces and flowers can fix everything for men, the world would be at peace," in a speed of lightning, she turned to smile at you, "Go and have fun, okay?" then it changed again very quickly as she stared Yunho down, "10 pm, any later than that, I'll bring backup," she said as she showed a picture of Beomgyu, San, and Yeosang showing off their choice of weapons in a 'menacing' pose. When did she get that picture? Though it managed to scare Yunho as you saw him visibly swallow the lump in his throat as he frantically nod.

During the first fifteen minutes, you had just kept silent. Rather than not wanting to talk, you found yourself no knowing what to talk about. Yunho himself seemed very nervous which is very unlike him. He's a person who exudes confidence and self-comfort. The atmosphere felt like two 15-year-olds on their first date, It sucks.

"Hey," Yunho broke the silence, making you snap your head at him, "You look very pretty today," he said. You raised an eyebrow at him which instantly made him panic, "N-not that I'm saying that you're not pretty every day! My God, you're the epitome of beauty itself, I- I- I'm just saying that you're radiant right now, like- like a Goddess even or maybe more! I- I- My god, I forgot how to speak. I don't know what's wrong with me today, I just feel like you're a whole different level than me. N-Not that you're the lower level, I'M on the lower level you know? Like-"

He stopped rambling when he heard you chuckling at how panicked he was. "I... Thank you, Yunho. You look very handsome yourself," and he almost slammed his steering wheel from your compliment. He even had to cover his mouth because he was grinning so widely.

After that, he talked a little bit more comfortably which made you more comfortable. Maybe it was because of the familiarity, but you forgot all the things he did to you. The conversation itself was lighthearted, you both talked about recent activities and even about each other's group of friends.

"Yeah, and they ate the rest of the cupcakes despite Wooyoung sending it FOR me," you chuckled while remembering the cupcake you and your friends ate together the previous week. As soon as the name slipped your lips, your eyes widened and you froze. You remembered how Yunho got jealous over Wooyoung a while ago and you blamed yourself for letting the name slip. The both of you were having so much fun, mentioning Wooyoung might ruin everything.

Unexpectedly, Yunho laughed heartily as he kept his gaze on the road, "Those cupcakes must've been that good, huh? You gotta tell me where it is," he said, glancing at you with a smile on his face.

You were stunned.

Based on his previous reaction to Wooyoung, you had expected Yunho to slam the brakes and cry out how much he doesn't like Wooyoung or something. But surprisingly, he was chill about it. Maybe he didn't hear Wooyoung's name, you think. But you had clearly said it and there's no way he didn't hear the only name he wasn't quite so familiar with. So you decided to check again. "Well, I might need to ask Wooyoung for the name because frankly, I've forgotten. Wooyoung must've still had the name of the shop in his phone," you said, purposefully mentioning Wooyoung's name twice. Yunho chuckled and nodded, "Should I just ask Wooyoung myself? I might be able to get recommendations on other shops as well," he said lightheartedly. Your assumption was proven, he had said it and he seemed fine by it. Maybe it was a momentary thing, but you didn't care, you only cared about how you both were still maintaining the enjoyable atmosphere.

Soon enough, Yunho pulled the car to park in a seemingly familiar place but you just can't put a name to it. You looked around and furrowed your eyebrows, "Yunho, where are we?" you asked, looking around in confusion. Yunho was grinning at you widely when you finally look at him. "Wait here," he said before getting out of his side and closing his door. He then went around to open his trunk. You could hear him rummaging around in the back, you can only wonder what he's doing. For a split second, you even thought that he might be planning to do... something... to you and he's doing it in an unfamiliar and secluded place to avoid being noticed. You were so wrapped up in your thoughts that you jumped when Yunho opened your side of the door softly.

"Ready?" He asked you.

At first, you couldn't see what he was holding, the thing he got from the trunk, and he was actively shielding it from your sight. You looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, wordlessly questioning his plans. Yunho only smiled as he excitedly swayed in his spot, "I promise it's nothing weird," he tried assuring you. Knowing he's not gonna say more, you sighed before letting one of your legs out.

Before you could completely step out, however, Yunho blocked you whilst handing you a handkerchief. "Put this on please," he said, still enthused. You squinted your eyes at him, "I thought you said it's nothing weird?" You asked, starting to get a little suspicious. "And it's not weird! It's a surprise," he said, defending himself. Despite being unsure due to his secrecy, you didn't feel any red flags so you just did what he told you.

After tying the handkerchief as a blindfold, Yunho helped you get out of the car. Your walk was surprisingly easy. Instead of just holding your hand, Yunho stood close to you to wrap an arm around your waist so he could help navigate you better.

It wasn't like you had just started dating Yunho. You've known him for a little over two years and you've dated for a year. Well, supposed to be a year. But for some reason, his touch made your heart beat at a pace too quick for your liking and you could feel your cheeks heat up. Due to that, you wanted the walk to end as soon as possible but at the same time, you wanted to stay in his embrace a bit longer. For a split second, you could've sworn you felt your soulmate mark tingling but maybe you're being crazy.

Though it felt like forever (for good but also bad reasons), Yunho finally stopped walking and you heard a soft thud, you assume it was the thing he was holding. "Here we are!" He said excitedly before walking around to stand behind you, "I hope you'll love what I have planned for us," he said before pulling your blindfold gently. Your face scrunched and you had to blink a couple times to adjust your vision. It was at that moment you realized where you both were.

"Oh my god," you whispered out in amazement and surprise. In front of you is the beautiful view of the lake in Seoul Olympic Park. You remembered that you used to go here when you were still in middle school. It was close to your parents' house and you felt at peace. Nowadays, you can't visit the place as much because it's a little bit out of the way and you can't risk meeting your parents as they still hadn't reached out to you.

Yunho stood next to you, hands in his pocket and he looked proud of himself. "Yup, you mentioned that this is the place where you first felt our connection," he said as he smiled. His gaze dropped down to yours as yours lifted to meet his, "It was... on our second date? Way before we became official because we were still getting to know each other," "And Somi was still having a hard time accepting the fact that you had found your soulmate," you cut him off. He laughed but nodded, "Yeah, okay, fair. When we were still getting to know each other and Somi was still having a hard time accepting the fact that I had found my soulmate." Yunho then pulled the blanket from the picnic basket and spread it on the grass We went to that little french cafe and you had that salad that you don't even like but I noticed so we split that humongous thing of a sandwich and then we split that fruit tart," he said and each time he mentioned something, he pulled things out of the picnic basket.

Your eyes widened when you realized that he had bought the exact same food from the exact same place you told Yunho about the first time you felt your connection with him. Without you realizing it, a couple of tears had dropped from your eyes. "You remembered," you choked out, touched beyond anything else.

When he saw your tears, Yunho immediately sprung up to cup your face in his big hands, "Hey hey hey, please don't cry, of course, I remembered baby, I remembered everything," you then smacked his arm, completely letting go of the fact that he had just called you baby. After you hit him, Yunho chuckled and nodded, "Okay, yeah, I remember MOST things," his thumbs moved to wipe your tears away.

Instinctively, your hand move to wrap themselves around Yunho's hands, letting your own thumb caress his skin gently, "I just can't believe you were able to pull this all off," you said, chuckling at yourself.

All of a sudden, Yunho pulled both of your hands away to press his forehead against you, "Hey, I know I've been a jerk to you and I've said things I shouldn't have, but I genuinely want to start over with you," you groaned and was about to pull away to complain at how he just ruined the moment, but he held onto you firmly as a soft chuckle escape his lips. "But... I thought about what you told me and, yeah, I was being the biggest asshole to ask you to just forget everything and restart our relationship from zero, that's why... I changed my mind," he pulled away to stare at you directly, "I want a renewal. I want to prove myself to you and completely dedicate my love for you because it IS only for you." One of his hands crept up to cradle your face, "You don't have to decide now, you don't have to feel the same way as me because I deserve that. I deserve your hesitance and I deserve having to work hard for your trust, but I will do it and this is me trying," his thumb travelled from your cheek to your bottom lip and it caressed the skin there, "You have one thousand and one reasons to push me away and run, and I have no right to ask you for anything, but I never stopped believing in us. Can I prove myself to you?" he asked.

His eyes, the thoughtful gesture, the fact that he remembered something that you yourself forgot that you told him, and his words. It's true, you had one thousand and one reasons to reject him, but your heart was calling to him. Your heart knows that there is still unfinished business between you two. Rather than to him, you owe it to yourself to know what it is.

You took a hold of his hand and pulled it away, smiling gently at him, "I'm not saying yes, but I'm not saying no, okay? I'm saying... Right now I'm affected by all these anniversary gestures so I can't really trust my own thinking. I'm not saying you can't try, but I'm saying I can't promise anything. It all comes back to you, okay?" you told him. The news wasn't a bad one to him, but it wasn't exactly good. But Yunho smiled and nodded in understanding, "I get it, I'm still thankful for it though."

Several moments passed and you both were still staring at each other because things felt surreal. Thankfully, Yunho broke the moment by tugging you down to sit with him on the picnic blanket, "Come on, the sun is setting soon and we still have food to finish," he said happily. You settled next to him close, watching him take out paper plates, wooded utensils, and cups happily as he rambled on about anything and everything.

For the first time in a while, you felt good about the decision you made for your relationship with him. It was as if a weight has been lifted off of your chest and you can go back to enjoying the small things.

Trans truths #5

It’s often the clothes that count most for validation and passing.

This tip, though primarily a clothing, touches on many other subjects. Feel free to send an ask if you’d like more information on something. I do intend to circle back around with some other posts addressing the other stuff. The idea with these posts is to give you info in small bites.

So— A major thing that comes along with starting T is… sweat. Your face, your back, and anywhere skin touches skin (or when skin touches a medical device, such as a feeding tube, insulin patch, prosthetic silicone sleeve, etc.).

When purchasing a new wardrobe, focusing on light fabrics, wick-away materials, and affordable quality goods is the way to go.

Here are my shopping secrets:

Cotton t-shirts—you will need a ton of them, even if your closet is already stocked. Changing shirts multiple times a day is not only ok, but also beneficial to keeping your body bacteria/acne free. I know I’m a little high-brow when it comes to labels, but I put my trust in Abercrombie and it’s brother-brand Hollister. Quality is great, most basic T-shirts are 100% cotton, and there are numerous basic fits (crew, v-neck, henley…) to suit your preferences. The basics frequently appear in the clearance section at about half price from the new collection, so they’re often surprisingly affordable. You can order up to 10 of the same item at a time, so if you find your wonder-fit, you can stock up.

Shorts and sweats— I recommend wearing shorts as often as possible. If they’re not your thing, consider at least wearing them at home for the sake of comfort. Old Navy’s Breathe On collection is my go-to for shorts and athletic pants. The athletic pants fall like Addidas new material trousers (the ones with the side stripes). The shorts are a 9” inseam (I think, based on how they fall on me), set with an elastic waist with a drawstring, and made of the softest blend of new materials I have ever felt in my life. Seriously, their quality rivals LuluLemon and other high end brands. Not only is the fabric soft as a cloud, but it’s incredibly thin, and still extremely opaque. A couple caveats: These are definitely athletic style. The price and color availability varies wildly depending on the season (up to $30 regular price and as low as under $10 when on sale). Be careful to purchase from the adult men’s section; the children’s section also has Breathe On items, but they are extremely poor quality. No idea why.

Hoodies— The best I’ve found is the Alternative Eco Zip Lightweight Hoodie, which is available on Amazon at this link: Alternative Men's Eco Zip Lightweight Hoodie https://a.co/d/dUCmpwt . They vary in price from $40 to under $20, depending on the size and color availability, but these hoodies are absolute life savers. They’re a cotton and new material blend that is both super soft and very thin, making them a go-to for fall and spring weather. They’re so light and comfy that they can be worn in hot weather too, for buildings with extreme air conditioning and situations with a lot of sunlight exposure (they’re not UPF, but opaque enough to keep you covered).

Socks— I’m a stickler about quality and fit, so I turn to Bombas for all my sock needs. They are a bit pricey and rarely on sale, but they’re also very charitable— one pair bought is one pair donated to folks lacking clothing resources. They have about a million styles and fits, but the athletic styles (running, golfing, sports, etc.) are quite thin and sweat-absorbing, regardless of the material blend. Bombas socks do live up to their reputation as the “perfect sock.” They don’t slip down your foot with wear, the arch support is amazing, and they last forever (seriously, I’ve have a few pairs I bought six years ago that are still in circulation.).

Underwear— As all the internet buzz claims, MeUndies does make quality and fun products. Now, you do have to start a subscription in order to make them affordable, but once you’ve been on for ~ 7 months, you’ll have plenty ( just mind how long you compile laundry and you’ll be fine). The undies are super soft (new material blend), and the color and pattern choices are extremely amusing. If this is the first time you’re wearing men’s underwear, I recommend going with briefs (boxers are a little tough to wrangle with jeans and such, and boxer briefs can lead to an unfortunate cameltoe if you’re not wearing something underneath (however, if you have incontinence issues or use a catheter, the boxer briefs are great for holding everything in place). Additionally, briefs with an open fly make packing more comfortable (definitely more on that in a different tip post).

Pajamas— I highly recommend 100% cotton poplin pajama pants and shorts. The Gap makes great quality products, and they’re frequently on sale due to seasonal releases. For shorts, browse the men’s boxer section (just to be clear, I recommend wearing these as pajama bottoms, not actually as underwear.) They refresh the prints regularly, so more often than not, you can find some in the clearance section. The pants fall loosely with a straight leg cut, so no need to worry about curves (especially if you just wear them at home). They also have an elastic waist and a drawstring. The boxers also have an elastic waist. The one downside is that the pants and shorts can get super wrinkly in the wash, so you may want to fluff them after they’ve been in the washer and before they go in the dryer.
