'Christmas has come early in the UK charts as almost three quarters of songs in the top 40 are festive tunes.

Wham!'s Last Christmas has topped the singles chart for the fourth time, followed by Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You in second place.

A week after the death of The Pogues singer Shane MacGowan, Fairytale of New York has risen to number four.

It still has time to reach the top spot for the first time, with two weeks until Christmas number one is revealed.

Released in 1987 and featuring Kirsty MacColl, the track originally peaked at number two, being narrowly beaten to festive first place by the Pet Shop Boys' Always On My Mind.

In total, there are eight festive songs in this week's top 10, including Brenda Lee's Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree at number six, and Ed Sheeran and Elton John's hit Merry Christmas at number seven.

Speaking to the Official Charts Company, Andrew Ridgeley, one half of Wham!, said it felt like "Christmas has indeed come early" and he was "delighted that Last Christmas has once again reached the zenith of the Official Singles Chart".

George Michael and Ridgeley's 1984 festive song broke a record in 2021 for the longest time taken to reach number one.

It reached the top spot for a second time in 2022, and for a third at the very beginning of 2023.

It has never been number one in Christmas week itself, however. But that could change this year after YouTubers and charity fundraisers LadBaby - who have had the Christmas number one for five years in a row - decided not to enter the 2023 race.

The 28 festive songs in the top 40 include Ariana Grande's Santa Tell Me at 11, Michael Bublé's Holly Jolly Christmas at 21 and Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody at number 39 on the 50th anniversary of its release...'

It was Christmas eve at the Amobi household. Pip in a nice Christmas sweater and Ravi in an "ugly" Christmas sweater, he insisted, while he tried not to spill any punch on his or Pip's sweaters. Josh in an uncomfortable nice suit he was forced to wear, and their parents frantic trying to add last little details to everything even though it was all perfectly fine and ready.

Everybody was there. Pip, Ravi, Cara, Naomi, Connor, Jamie, Lauren, Anthony, even Stanley showed up. (ILY STANLEY) Pip didn't know if she had finally lost her mind or if this was an affect from losing it a long time ago, but she also invited Nat, along with her girlfriend Kalli.

As much as she tried to avoid it, Pip ended up face to face with Nat, holding hands with Kalli. "H-hey Nat, glad you decided to come and... get into the holiday spirit!... N-not that you aren't already obviously... mery and... bright." Pip laughed uncomfortably meeting Ravi's gaze shortly. "Pip it's fine." Nat said, offering Pip a small smile. "Merry Christmas." She said walking Kalli towards something else. "See? She doesn't still hate you." Ravi said nudging Pip who just glared at him in return, heart beating out of her chest as she fiddled with the sleeves of her sweater.

As Nat and Kalli got comfortable in a spot with their drinks, Kalli's having 'Batman' written on it, something she's always done at parties, Kalli looked towards Nat. "I'm glad you decided to come." She said taking a sip of her punch. "Why?" Kalli looked down before meeting Nat's gaze again. "Because, you deserve to enjoy good things in your life." Nat looked down to her lap, muttering a quiet and shy thank you, something Nat never was, quiet or shy. "Plus, I thought it'd be fun." Nat laughed for a moment, looking up before pulling Kalli in for a kiss.

My Top 10 Favourite Movies Part 1 (10 to 6)

I always find it hard to answer the question ‘What’s your favourite movie?” Because it’s so dependant on my mood or what criteria I’m judging it against, but I get it - people want some kind of insight into you and the movie you love will probably give them a bit of that. So this is my top 10 which kind of cover the run of different kinds of movies I love for very different reasons.

10. Gone with the Wind Yeah, this movie is problematic. There is no denying that, like it’s source material, it tries to put a ‘kind’ face on slavery and glamorises the south. But here’s my story, when I was 16 I went to boarding school and I was not exactly the most confident or pretty of the girls so I tended to be a little invisible, people didn’t dislike me but a lot of the time they just sorta forgot I was there. Sunday was our one free day of the week with no lessons and whilst everybody else used it to socialise I used it as my time to be alone and recharge. I’d camp out in the TV room that rarely got used except when big sports events were on - I’d take a book, a film, a mug and a load of tea bags (the kitchen was just next door!). A lot of the time that film was Gone with the Wind - Scarlett O’Hara was everything I wasn’t she was the centre of attention, she always knew what to say, she focused on her goals and didn’t really mind who she had to used to achieve them. I loved her and whilst I didn’t condone everything she did I did find myself practising some of her looks in the mirror.

9. 300 Zac Snyder’s style has taken a fair bit of probably reasonable criticism, but for me in 300 it really worked. Whilst there is some loose historical fact behind 300 it’s not meant to be accurate - it perfectly captures graphic novel style in the medium of film, something which Scott Pilgrim also manages in a different way but which a lot of films have failed to achieve. It is also being told as a story within the story in order to amp up some troops for battle so ya know its supposed to be a bit out there and exaggerated. I think its beautifully shot and paced and I like the overall message. These men didn’t think they were going to win, they knew they didn’t have the numbers, but in the face of something they saw as unreasonable they stood up anyway in the hope that there story would lead others to fight and ultimately win where they alone couldn’t. Also, Lena Headey is killing it as always.

8. Little Women (1994 version) Little Women was one of the first ‘grown-up’ books I read and I fell in love basically from the first page. I’ve seen three versions of this film and love different things about each of them, and whilst June Allyson will always be my favourite Jo on balance I think the 1994 version is the best overall film. This is for several reasons; I think Susan Sarandon is excellent, I think they handle the growing romances of Amy/Laurie and Jo/Fredrich much better and perhaps most importantly I love the score to this movie. It’s so perfect sometimes I just listen to it and it conjures up all the emotions of the film for me. I watched this film so many times when I was younger I think everyone else in my household was ready to die of boredom but I was constantly enraptured by it. I can even forgive them for prettying up some of the characters who weren’t quite so written.

7. A Muppet’s Christmas Carol Here’s a thing about me, I love Christmas as much now as I did as a child. I shamelessly buy into all the commercialism; I love the lights, the present buying, the mulled wines and ciders, I bake mince pies and gingerbread, have a Christmas songs playlist and watch tonnes of Christmas films. And I’m not sure there has been a year since it came out in 1992 when I haven’t watched the Muppet’s Christmas Carol. I think the mixture of human to Muppet characters is perfect, the songs are excellent (It feels like Christmas being a personal fave of mine) and the mixture of laughter and sadness is just right. I’ve seen this film so many times I could probably perform the whole thing solo. But I don’t think there will ever be a Christmas when I don’t sit down and watch it.

6 Kuch Kuch Hota Hai I come from a mixed race family and whilst I never learnt Hindi I did watch a lot of Hindi films when I was younger. I’m a sucker for catchy songs and gut punching emotion so Bollywood in the late 90s/early 00s was kinda made for me. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was definitely my favourite and the one I would encourage anyone who has never seen a Bollywood film before to watch. It’s a great entry point, it’s colourful, the songs will draw you in and the story is not overly complicated but the characters are well drawn. It’s so super 90s and more than a little bit over the top but I challenge anyone not to have a good time. There is a song called Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aaye from when one of the characters finds out the person she loves is in love with someone else that made me cry then and makes me cry every damn time I hear it. 

So that’s 10 through to 6. I will follow up with part 2 later and do 5 through to the number 1 spot.

Every year we see many Bollywood couples getting married and it becomes the talk of the town. And if you look back, some of the Bollywood couples have been giving #couplegoals to all of their fans and fellow Bollywood stars. We’re here to talk about one such couple who has been regarded as the cutest and the bubbliest of all the couples that Bollywood has ever witnessed. They were a reel couple and turned themselves into a real couple more than a decade ago. We’re talking about the adorable Jodi of the Deshmukhs — Genelia and Riteish! Recently just after the eve of Christmas, Genelia took to Instagram to share a video on her Instagram feed. As soon as the post was up, the couple hoarded spotlight and everybody right from their fan following to fellow Bollywood stars, everybody showered their likes and left really sweet comments admiring the duo’s togetherness and “very much in love always” attitude. Let’s take a look at what it was all about.

Genelia’s Christmas Post On Instagram

Genelia put up a video post on Instagram in the Christmas spirit. In the video clip, the actress is seen wearing a white shirt with a grey blazer, and blue denim. Her husband Riteish is oh well, shirtless, and tying a red tie for her. Genelia is seen making cute faces on the video and the background score of the music is the uber-famous Mariah Carey version of the song “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.

She captioned the post as, “It’s never too late to tie a knot❤️ #alliwantforchristmasisyou.” The video went viral and has garnered more than 16,00,000 views and 3000 plus comments. The couple’s fans, as well as their Bollywood well-wishers, showered love for the couple in the comments section of this Instagram post. Genelia, every now and then, does put up something cute about her hubby on her Instagram account. But this one is hands down our favorite.

Even her hubby Riteish shared the same video on his Instagram account later on captioning it as, “#BossLady #MerryChristmas @geneliad #retro #love #KehDuTumhe” (1). And it wasn’t just them, another couple took to Instagram to share their Christmas spirit and it is none other than our favorite— DeepVeer! Both of them posted very warm pictures of the two hugging.

Genelia And Riteish’s Love Story

For those who don’t know, Riteish and Genelia fell in love when they were shooting their first movie together, Tujhe Meri Kasam in the year 2003. Since then, the couple has been together (touchwood). After having dated each other for almost a decade, they tied the knot in the year 2013 in a Marathi wedding ceremony and at a Christian church wedding. The couple has been since then known for their cutesy ways of expressing love to each other. Genelia took to motherhood soon after the wedding and they have two sons, Riaan and Rahyl together. While Riteish’s father passed away, Genelia was seen donning the role of the bahu of the house on a serious note and stood as a pillar of support for the entire family.

On the work front, Genelia hasn’t done any Bollywood films off late and is seen being a happy mother to her two children. She’s often seen at various social gatherings and clicked at some charity events. Her last screen appearance was in a Marathi movie, Lai Bhaari in the year 2015 opposite her husband.

Riteish, on the other hand, was last seen in the movie Marjaavaan that was released in November this year. Multi-starrer movies Housefull 4 and Total Dhamaal were his other movies that were released this year. Riteish is often seen juggling between acting in Marathi regional movies and Bollywood movies. While he usually plays comic roles in Bollywood movies, he’s a successful award-winning lead actor in the Marathi film industry. For the coming year 2020, Riteish already has quite a good number of films in his kitty including Baaghi 3 that stars Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor as the leads.
