CHIGIRI HYOMA!

Objectively speaking, there’s very little that Chigiri hasn’t gained through his soccer career. He’s gotten noticed by a formidable club, earned himself an equally formidable salary for someone his age, and has the attention of the whole wide world tucked away squarely in his pocket.

And to top it all off, he even has someone as caring and lovely as you to call his romantic partner. Sure, he has to work incredibly hard and push himself to the limits of both his body and his ego to retain it all, but he’s passionate about soccer and has no issue doing so.

There’s just one small issue.

A certain someone has beat him when it comes to being in a relationship with you.

It’s hard for Chigiri to miss the anime character that’s taken up your phone’s wallpaper, the keychains on your bags, and the merchandise littering your room. He doesn’t like to think that he’s jealous, but if he’s being honest, he’s a little jealous that it’s not him.

“Sooooo…,” he decides to try his luck one day, “Is there a particular reason why you have that guy everywhere?”

You take one look at your boyfriend and then back at your phone. There’s a video playing, and it’s titled something along the lines of ‘Kuroo Tetsurou Anime Moments Compilation.’ There’s the hint of a giggle appearing at the corners of your lips.

“Oh!” You immediately light up. “You mean Tetsu here? Wanna watch with me? Here, there’s room.”

This… wasn’t quite the direction Chigiri was hoping this would take, but nonetheless, he joins you. You hand him an earphone, and now he’s physically stuck side-by-side to you as you squeal over your little anime crush’s volleyball moves. They’re impressively animated, but he knows he can do far cooler moves on the soccer field. And in real life, to boot.

But as he gazes at you, you look so giddy. You’re eagerly sharing all of your favorite moments and pointing out the details that you’ve only discovered after hours and hours of rewatching. Maybe it’s because he’s there to share double the joy with you, he doesn’t have it in his heart to interrupt your special moment. Even if it does make him a little jealous, this Kuroo guy means something special to you, and if watching this anime makes you happier than anything else, who is he to take that away from you? He wants to encourage your interests and hobbies, and it just so happens that you’re willing to share it with him too.

So Chigiri decides there and then that he’s going to have to change his tactic. The solution is pretty simple. He’ll just up his game. He’ll become someone so captivating and impressive that you’ll have no choice but to look away from that Kuroo of yours and become smitten with him all over again.

If he can’t beat that little anime crush of yours, Chigiri will simply have to join him instead.

ITOSHI RIN!

“I can’t believe this, of all people, is who you choose to compare me to.”

Rin looks less than impressed as he sits next to you on the couch, arms crossed firmly over his broad chest and his cold gaze falling on the video game character displayed on the screen. You’re half-listening to him half-button mashing at your controller, too engrossed in the heat of immediate combat to warrant an instantaneous reply.

You shrug as the character on screen strikes a pose and a flurry of fiery red races across the screen. “Diluc? You have an issue with me comparing you to Diluc? Why? I think you two are pretty similar.”

The frown on Rin’s face only seems to deepen. It’s at times like this you’re reminded of just how boyish Rin can be—not quite fully grown, still clingy and desperate for your attention like the young man he is. “I don’t see it.”

“Well, you two are both rather brooding,” you point out matter-of-factly. You make sure Diluc is parked somewhere safe in the world of Teyvat before sneaking a glance at Rin. You reach over and place a hand on his thigh, squeezing him playfully. You always have to use a little more force than you expect due just how toned his legs are, and your palm is so ridiculously small in comparison to how big his thighs are. “And even though you’d never admit it, you work hard for good.”

You decide to conveniently leave out the part about both Rin and Diluc having an incredibly complicated and sometimes straight up hostile relationship with their brothers. It’s a touchy subject for Rin especially, and you know better than to provoke him into a bad mood.

Rin sticks his bottom lip out into a pout. “Me? Work for good? I don’t put myself through the wringer for you to describe me like I’m some kind of hero.”

He is 100% jealous and refuses to admit it with his own mouth. It’s your turn to surrender, and you pause the game and place the controller down. You scoot over to him and swing your legs over into his lap before wrapping your arms around your moody boyfriend.

“You know what I mean, you big baby,” you coo, grabbing at his face gently and squishing his cheeks together. “Awwwwww, is widdwe Rinrin upset that I compared him to Diwuccy? Does baby want me all to himself? Googoo gaga?”

“Must you embarrass me at every chance you get?” Rin swats at you, gritting his teeth. You laugh loudly as you evade his sloppy blows, only aggravating him by continuing to purr at him as if he were a newborn infant. Despite his annoyance, you know deep down that there’s nothing Rin loves more than hogging your attention all to himself, and if this is what it takes to get you to tear your eyes away from that pixelated video game man that is absolutely nothing like him, then so be it.

KARASU TABITO!

“Huh. So this is what you’ve been sneaking off to do,” a heavy arm lands on your shoulders while you’re hunched over with your eyes glued to your phone. You let out a small yelp, completely caught off guard by the sudden motion, and your attention is ripped away from the anime you’re watching. Flashes of blue and loud Japanese dialogue emanate from your phone, and you can make out Karasu’s face observing the scene unfolding.

“Jeez, you scared me half to death! Did you have to sneak up on me like that?” You try to reprimand him, but Karasu isn’t paying any attention to your scolding. If anything, he’s more fixated on the character on your screen.

“Is this the guy you like? Remind me of his name again… Dabi?” His sharp eyes are focused on the anime character. Judging from the way your eyes tremble and you bite at your lip, he must be right. He’s heard you gush about your favorite BNHA character for quite a while. True to his guess, it’s Dabi—blue fire glistening inside of his palms, his half-lidded eyes gazing back at Karasu as if he were a person challenging your boyfriend instead of a fictional character.

An unreadable grin spreads across Karasu’s face, and a slight shiver goes down your spine. It’s never a good sign to see your boyfriend make that face. The arm slung around your shoulder grows tighter as Karasu pulls you closer to your body, and he lowers his face so that you’re eye-to-eye with him.

“Didn’t think you’d be into guys like that,” he laughs, his voice low and dangerous. “You like your men like that? A little rough around the edges? Looks like I gotta step up my game. Make sure I can keep up with your tastes. I’ve been playing up the nice guy act too much around you.”

Your cheeks burn, and you fight the urge to push his arm off. “Don’t tease me, Karasu. Let me watch my anime.”

“Hey, I’m just stating the facts.” He is so teasing you. His hand slinks towards your face to grab your chin, turning your face so that you can face him. His eyes are as keen and opportunistic as always, and you can’t help but feel as if you’ve somehow walked straight into a trap. “I can’t have your eyes wandering when I’m right here. I gotta know my competition. And if this Dabi fella’s the one that’s been stealing you away from me… Maybe I can pick up a thing or two from him.”

“I said quit it, Tabito!” Your heart skips a beat, and you huff your cheeks out, hoping a display of faux anger can cover up how easily he’s flustering you. At the mention of his first name, Karasu gives a hearty laugh, letting you glower at him as you hide your face in your hands.

The anime—and by extension, Dabi—on your phone now long forgotten, you settle down in Karasu’s firm arms with a loud huff. Whatever his aim was, it looks like he succeeded: your attention is all on Karasu now.

NANASE NIJIRO!

“You guys kind of share a name, if you think about it.” Your arm is wrapped tightly around Nanase’s as you curl up next to him. Nanase’s always been incredibly considerate about the things you like, and if he discovered something that caught your interest, he wanted to take part in it with you. An episode of your weekly anime is the result of his efforts, although he would have never expected someone as cheery as you would be into such an intense show.

A blond man smirks towards you inside the screen. Nanase squints, racking his head for the blond character’s name. What was the show’s title again….? Tokyo Revengers? He glances back at you, evidently confused. “What do you mean by sharing a name? Isn’t this guy’s name Mikey?”

“Well, yes,” you giggle, squeezing his arm. “It’s a nickname. His real name is Manjiro Sano. And you’re Nijiro. You’re both Jiros! Different characters but phonetically similar, don’t you think?”

Nanase nods, humming in understanding. He isn’t sure how he should feel towards this Mikey character, especially after having undergone weeks and weeks of you gushing over how handsome and cute the blond was, but he so desperately wants to believe he’s above feeling jealous.

But he’s only human, and hearing you fawn over a man that isn’t him does make him feel a little envious, as much as he hates to admit it. You deserve a kind, caring boyfriend, and feeling jealous over an anime character makes Nanase feel immature.

He steals another peek at this Mikey character on the screen. Now that you’ve mentioned the similar name thing, he can’t help but think about it differently. Were you thinking about him whenever Mikey came on screen? Did you grow to like Mikey because the blond reminded you of himself? It’s all speculation, but just the thought of it makes him feel shy.

“I still hope I’m the number one Jiro in your heart. Otherwise, I might die of heartbreak at the thought of you leaving me for a different Jiro,” Nanase pretends to swoon dramatically before collapsing on top of you. You playfully shove at his shoulder before his head pops up, smiling sweetly towards you.

The screen grows dim as the ending OST plays, and You reach for the remote. You look at Nanase as if asking for his approval. “Oh, c’mon, Jiro. One more episode?”

He pretends to think before sticking his face in front of yours. “Only if you pay the kiss tax first and tell me I’m the better Jiro!”

You let out an exasperated laugh but oblige, pressing a quick peck to his expectant lips. “Fine, fine. Nanase Nijiro is the only Jiro for me. Happy now?”

He lights up like a kid in a candy shop, eagerly nodding before cheerfully settling down in a comfortable position, practically glued to your side. “So happy!”

MICHAEL KAISER!

“For Idrila!”

“Pffft,” Kaiser huffs loudly. The prideful edge in his voice sounds sharper than usual today, and he makes no effort to conceal the fact that he’s leering the video game character on your phone screen as he watches you button smash from over your shoulder. He’s itching to hug you and hold you and annoy you for hours on end, but he knows better than to mess you up in the middle of your gaming session. “How lame. Is this the new rose guy you’re fixated on?”

You pause your game to stare at your boyfriend who’s perched his chin comfortably on your shoulder, and you stick your tongue out at him. “Argenti’s not lame! He’s so chivalrous and sweet!”

“And he’s fake.” Kaiser pouts childishly, and he juts his bottom lip out. He eyes up the redhead prancing around inside your screen and huffs again at the sight of his fancy armor and clothing. “Besides, I do the whole ‘rose’ thing better than he can.”

You try your best not to be too amused by Kaiser’s jealousy. Despite how high and mighty he likes to act, your boyfriend would drive himself insane if he ever thought his position as the sole recipient of your affections was threatened in any way. And as much as you adore your video games, nothing could replace his spot as number one in your heart.

“He’s a knight, Mihya,” you hold your phone up so that your fickle boyfriend can get a better look at Argenti’s details, “Don’t you think that’s a little cool? He travels around on a spaceship and defeats monsters! He devotes himself to the god of beauty and tries to do good to spread his mission.”

It’s Kaiser’s turn to stick his tongue out, and he scrunches up his face in utter disgust. “A knight? That’s it? Why bothering with a fake knight when you can have your very own emperor? And why bother with him for anything beautiful? I’m right here. I think the choice is pretty obvious, darling. Don’t keep me waiting.”

“Fine, fine,” you resist the urge to roll your eyes dramatically. You bite back a laugh as you put the phone down, holding your hands up in mock defeat. Kaiser immediately lights up, the frown on his face dissolving away into one of mischievous glee as he wraps his arms around your midriff and yanks you as close as he can to his own body. His grip on you is tight, like he doesn’t want to let go, and he nuzzles his face against the back of your neck. Now with you flush against him, your phone forgotten and trapped in his arms, he has you right where he wants you.

You turn your head a little to give him a kiss, and he melts into the touch. You ruffle his blond hair slightly. “Is this better? Happy now?”

“Much better,” he purrs, the happy glimmer in his eyes as bright as the peak of a sunny day. You really can’t win when it comes to him and his childish jealousy, but at the same time, these are little battles you’re more than willing to let him have.
