If writers make Milly Alcock choose a fucking old ass man (who she doesn't even have any fucking chemistry with) over the MOST MAJESTIC WOMAN you have ever seen in your entire life ONE MORE TIME I will be the next to throw myself off that fucking cliff

Michaela wanted to help Simone become independent and empowered by promoting her and helping have her own career, she advises Simone to reject Ethan, to not accept become his wife because she saw her younger self in Simone. She didn't wanted her to became Ethan's wife with status and luxuries at the price of Simone becoming smaller and dependent. Sadly, when Michaela founds out about the kiss she immediately fires Simone and doesn't even asks for an explanation. Even when Simone tells her that Peter initiate the kiss and made advances on her and it seems that Michaela believes her, she still cuts her off and the bond they had. Here Michaela acted in a misogynistic way, Michaela punished the innocent woman for the actions of a married man. Michaela sided with Peter even though she knew it was wrong because she didn't wanted this situation to jeopardize her marriage. But at the same time her legal marriage situation with Peter was against her, so I can see how Michaela felt cornered and preferred to turn a blind eye to Peter's action and choose her marriage and everything she built, but it was still unfair.
This situation reflects how women in society are forced to be against each other or at odds instead of supporting each other, Michaela and Simone were like sisters or best friends and their relationship was broken because of a man. Ironically Michaela still lost at the end. It seems that if she hadn't fired Simone and pretended everything was fine everything would have stayed the same, BUT Peter already had his sights set on Simone, the younger innocent prey. After all, Peter was the siren who seduced, chewed, and spit his victims when he got bored, one after the other. The ending with Simone as Peter's newest wife replacement while not caring anymore for Michaela, the woman she was obssesed with and had a deep bond was awful.
Also at the ending scene on the cliff, it looks like Simone's eyes are glazed and bewitched by the siren's song, Peter's song. Will Simone someday be free of him? Will Simone only leave when she's replaced like the women before her?

I watched Sirens fully expecting the women to be the sirens and it turns out Kevin Bacon was the siren all along (a sentence I never thought I would say or write) more specifically the fake safety that comes with being a rich guy's trophy wife fake because you're only safe as long as Peter Kell or whatever rich guy you gave up your whole life for deems you worthy of being safe and the second he doesn't anymore you fall off the face of the earth and he'll even let you think you have power and joke about how his family's house is no longer his but really nothing not even yourself belongs to you but you'll see a rich wife's life and you'll be hypnotised and dream of having it anyway because the combination of capitalism and trauma makes the alternative look so bleak and you have to be strong as a rock to resist that siren song and keep choosing you with all the shit that comes with it
Which is why i still liked Devon's ending she chose to go back and build her own life not disappear into Morgan's life or rely on her sister's new fake power for however long it lasts she saw what it did to Michaela and drew the right conclusions

The real plot twist in Sirens was Peter and Simone ending up together. I would have put money on Michaela and Simone having an affair because the narrative hammers you over the head with how uncomfortably close the two are. They do yoga for the male gaze together in the mornings. They sleep in the same bed when Michela has a nightmare. They share the same piece of gum. (?????) Devon mentions her sister tends to "get lost in people." Where does Michaela end and Simone begin?
Anyway. If we get a Season 2 and they don't end up in some weird, toxic situationship I WILL riot.

i just finished sirens (2025) and i loved it (literally watched it all in one sitting.) my only complaint is that i thought julianne moore’s character (michaela) was going to seduce milly alcock’s character (simone) due to some of the body language in the beginning, and i think that would’ve been a better ending 🤣 (okay not a better ending, but still. to fanfiction writing i go.)

The Price Of Freedom - Michaela 'Kiki' Kell/Devon DeWitt
A/N: Second fic for the latest prompt from @flashfictionfridayofficial
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The price of peace. Michaela considers it quietly. She’s lost it all, or so it seems, but then she doesn’t have to keep her guard up. She doesn’t have to pretend to not prefer other people than her husband. She is free. At peace. Devon watches her, a quiet watchfulness that makes it hard to make a choice what to do next. She walks away alone, at first, the price of peace is lonely, it seems. Then, after a month, she sees it. The last message she’d wanted to see. Simone’s father, Devon’s father, has died. Simone will be fine, she has Peter, but Devon is alone. She finds her back where it all started. At the dock for the ferry. Devon’s breathing catches and Kiki finds she moves to take her hand, her voice softer, more honest than before. “You don’t have to face them alone.” Once they arrive it’s clearer, the price of peace, of happiness, is facing the past. The mistakes she’s made. Devon curls into her arms when it’s all over, finally, finally whispering the words she’s most wanted to hear. “Take me home.” They walk away together, Devon finding peace with Kiki, even when Kiki seems still a little nervous. She’s not used to this, to peace, not true peace. She learns, slowly, to adapt. To trust someone, really trust them. In the end, she decides, it’s worth it.

I'm so glad my instincts haven't failed me on Sirens because I clocked Peter as the actual villain from the second he appeared on screen with his condescending smile and his whole "woe is me this used to be my house and now my evil wife has taken over everything" spiel bro was really playing the "I'm just a normal guy she's the high strung one Idk where she gets it from" when he's the one who inherited half a fucking island and she's the one who lost a career because being his wife is a full time job he expects her to do but then complains about her giving him chores such as being present and acting like a husband... and I was right!
But also I can't blame Simone. If someone were to force me to live the rest of my life with my abusive parent I'd do some desperate shit too ngl and yeah I know her dad wasn't abusive on purpose and he was sick and every character on this show is painfully human but Simone's resentment still makes sense. My god this show was good!

"Sirens": Un Thriller Psicologico che Incanta #Netflix
Nel vasto e sempre crescente panorama delle serie televisive, alcune produzioni emergono con la capacità di catturare l’immaginazione e stimolare la riflessione. Tra queste, la serie Netflix “Sirens” si distingue per la sua audace fusione di elementi fantastici e dramma contemporaneo. Lontano dalle classiche rivisitazioni delle mitologiche creature marine, “Sirens” ci trasporta in un mondo dove…
