Getting to know the cast of HAMILTON: Michael Luwoye and Joshua Henry (SHN Magazine)

Michael Luwoye can currently be seen playing Alexander Hamilton on tour. Prior to that, Michael was the Hamilton alternate and Burr understudy on Broadway. He made his broadway debut with Hamilton, having initially auditioned for the role of Mulligan/Madison. He was incredibly surprised to learn that he has been cast as Hamilton. He is also the first actor to have played both Hamilton and Burr. Prior to Hamilton, Michael appeared in The Invisible Thread off Broadway. He is only 25 years old.

Michael Luwoye is a huge nerd and a Nintendo fanboy. Legend of Zelda is his favorite franchise. He is also a noted prankster; the butt of most of his jokes while he was with the NY cast was Nik Walker (this is of course a recurring theme; Nik Walker is the butt of everyone’s jokes).

Michael is known among fans for his daily inspirational Rise & Shine/Sweet Dreams twitter posts. He is also a civil rights proponent and feminist.

Sometimes he dresses up as Waldo.

#throwbackthursday to when I went to Hamilton earlier this year. The cast is taking their finale bow this Saturday before continuing the tour in LA. I had been waiting for two years to see this musical. I literally cried when I purchased my tickets! When the day came and as I was sitting in my seat waiting for the show to begin I was worried that I would be let down by the hype. I'm so glad that I was so wrong! To the Hamilton cast and crew: You are all fantastically talented amazing people and I was literally blown away by the performance you gave! @emmyraver you gave me a spiritual moment during "Satisfied". @joshuahenrynyc you made every note soar and I had tear in my eyes when you sang "Wait for It". And lastly to my Alexander @michaelluwoye I cannot begin to describe how amazing your performance was! The brought your all to every not you sang! Guys if you can get tickets go see this cast! They are amazing! (at SHN Orpheum Theatre)
