En Amérique latine, plus 2500 femmes décèdent chaque année pour seule raison de leur genre. La poétesse et militante mexicaine Susana Chávez, avant de devenir une des victimes du féminicide, lança une campagne pour faire stopper les disparitions et les nombreux assassinats de femmes ne faisant l’objet d’aucune enquête. Elle prononça cette phrase, devenue le slogan du mouvement contre les féminicides, “Pas une femme de moins, pas une morte de plus”, une référence aux féminicides de la cité Juarès et de toute l’Amérique latine. Susana Chávez est devenue une véritable source d’inspiration dans la lutte contre toutes les violences faites aux femmes. This one is gone. It’s about those terrible #grindadráp which happens every year on Faroe Islands. When I’ve showed it for the first time someone tell me it’s a customs, so how can we do for change it. Every customs even very old one can evolve with times. This whales hunt had a reason a long time ago : feed Faroe people. But now it’s useless and just become a bloody folklore. Why don’t transform it in a festival to thanks whales for all those centuries in which they were the main food source and their sacrifice help people on the islands ? It will be beautiful to reconnect in a other way with tradition without blood and hunt. Without cruelty. Perhaps it’s time for humans to be grateful with nature, not always hurtful. Mask ORLOG, the mask of the fate. First idea was to do the photo with a spining wheel someone offer to the old gods of the mountains next to my home but my heart is a little bit weak those last weeks and i must stop my walk. When he was more quiet we go in another place with standing rocks. I’m a little bit frustrated but, well, i must listen my boss. On the front there is a woman spining the yarn of destiny. On the back the wheel of fortune which represents the cross between cycles of life. . This mask is a part of my solo show in @museedupaysdehanau next February ( if all is okay ) . Today was really sunny and warm especially for February. I’ve decided to continue my old panel signs series. Yesterday i show you The Horned God, today it’s a very fresh Freyja with her blue giant cats. In this countryside archeologists think there was a Freyja/ frigga cult place. It’s on the same path than the Horned God and next tile i will do the third panel. Small reversed glass painting after Frida Kahlo. I discover her story in the middle of 90s. I was captivated by her self portraits but also her life. I feel some connexions with her as someone who knows disabilities ( even not the same experience of course) and show me that we can do a lot with a frail health. And we can do art and art help them to cope with hard times and diseases. Here I show her with her monkeys, her dog, wearing a scarf with Diego on and La Catrina . Cerf Violoneux is a reversed glass painting about an almost forget tradition from my home countryside. It’s a rite of passage between two seasons, two cycles. Young people hunt the wild man and enchain him then walk through the village as a sign of luck. We found those kind of rituals about hooded animals in many other countries ( one of the most known is the #marilwyd in South Wales ).
