With a small smile on my face, I stood in the kitchen staring at the pot in front of me, its water already boiling. With one hand, I grabbed the pack of spaghetti and opened it, tossing the pasta into the pot shortly after. My eyes were fixed on the pot.

I jumped in surprise when I felt hands around my waist and someone resting their chin on my shoulder. My eyes widened as I turned to see the person hugging me from behind. "Minji!" I exclaimed in shock, clutching my chest and exhaling in relief.

Minji smiled and pulled me closer. Her lips were near my ear. "I missed you so much," I heard Minji say softly, which immediately relaxed me. I smiled to myself and let myself sink into her arms. "How was Paris?" I asked, placing my hand on hers, my eyes back on the pot.

Minji sighed a bit. "It was great. I saw a lot, but next time I wish you could come with me," Minji replied, though I only partially understood because a loud ringing suddenly filled my ear and it felt blocked. Annoyed, I sighed and stuck my finger in my ear, wiggling it until my ear popped open. Unfortunately, it quickly blocked again, so I pinched my nose and did a pressure release, which unblocked my ear again.

Minji looked at me with concern, releasing my waist and standing in front of me. "The doctor said you should stop doing that. You're only making your ears worse," Minji said, taking my hands in hers and looking me seriously in the eyes, her forehead furrowed.

Sighing, my shoulders slumped. "My ears are almost just for show... Only my left ear still somewhat works," I said, rolling my eyes as I moved closer to the pot and took out a noodle with a fork. "Try this. Are they done?" I asked, holding the fork out to Minji.

The taller woman looked at me dissatisfied but opened her mouth and tried the noodle. "A little longer," she replied, and I nodded. Minji leaned against one of the counters, crossing her arms over her chest, her eyes fixed on me, making me sigh again.

"What did the doctor say?" Minji asked, making me freeze. My eyes shifted from her face back to the pot, and I quickly grabbed the pot and moved to the sink. My jaw tightened as I pretended not to have heard my girlfriend.

I didn't want to talk about it...

Minji watched me closely as I poured out the water and then tipped the noodles onto the plates. I wasn't in the mood to cook today, so I just made spaghetti with butter. My eyes fell on Minji. "Take your plate and sit in the living room," I said, and her eyes immediately narrowed.

"Baby."

I looked seriously at the slightly younger woman, which made Minji fall silent. Sighing, she just nodded and grabbed both plates before disappearing into the living room. I ran a hand through my hair, frustration evident on my face as I sighed again.

I regretted it myself...

Why hadn't I changed my doctor sooner?

With a smile on my face, I went into the living room and sat next to my girlfriend. Minji already had the remote in her hand and looked at me. "I want to talk about it... What did the doctor say?" Minji asked again, making me hesitate.

Sighing, I clasped my hands together and rubbed them. "I might go completely deaf in the next few years," I admitted, causing Minji's eyes to widen immediately. She set the remote aside and turned her whole body towards me.

"What?" she asked incredulously, staring at me in shock. Nervously, I bit my lip and hung my head lower.

"I had hearing aids in both ears... The reason the volume never really worked for me was that my left ear was average. The hearing aids damaged my left ear," I began quietly, and Minji nodded with a furrowed brow. She didn't say anything, just let me continue.

"It seems I had an ear infection as a child that wasn't treated..." I added, and Minji shook her head. "That can't be. You had an appointment every four months," Minji replied, visibly annoyed, shaking her head in disbelief and exhaling several times.

I let out a humorless laugh, which made Minji fall silent. "Isn't there anything they can do?" she asked, biting her lip. Her eyes looked sadder as she sighed heavily. "You love... hearing my voice," she murmured softly, which made me smile gently. I took her hands in mine, my thumb stroking the back of her hand.

"I love everything about you," I began quietly, laughing a bit. My teeth caught my lower lip as I felt... kind of sad...

A beeping sound rang in my ears for the second time, and a sigh escaped my throat. My eyes immediately fell on my girlfriend in front of me, who was animatedly telling me about what happened in her last dance class. A small, sad smile appeared on my lips as I propped my chin on my hand. "Baby... my hearing aids are out of battery," I said softly, causing Minji to tilt her head slightly. Her eyebrows raised as she started to laugh a little. "Do you have the batteries with you?" she asked, but I shook my head.

My eyebrows raised almost in shock as I felt the hearing aids switch off. It felt like my ears were completely blocked or like an emptiness formed inside me. My thoughts became louder in my head as the world around me fell almost completely silent.

"Baby, baby," my eyes focused on Minji in front of me, which immediately made me smile again. I quickly removed my hearing aids and gently placed them in their case, which I then put in my bag. "Sorry... I never forget my batteries," I murmured as I leaned forward a bit more.

Minji smiled and seemed to say something. I heard the sound, but I couldn't understand the words...

"What?"

Minji probably repeated herself, but I only tilted my head more. An embarrassed laugh escaped my throat. "Haha, really?" I asked, hoping it was just the story she was telling me earlier. Minji furrowed her brow briefly but then giggled into her hand and leaned forward a bit.

She took my hands in hers and looked straight into my eyes. "I asked if you wanted something to drink," Minji said with a smile, making me laugh again. My cheeks heated up automatically. "Sorry. But yes, I'd love a hot chocolate," I said, looking at her through my lashes.

Minji smirked as she brought my fingers to her lips and kissed them. "Coming right up," she said with a smile, getting up to go to the counter to order our drinks. My eyes immediately looked out the large window. I frowned a bit as I noticed a car on the other side of the street driving away almost frantically.

"Here you go."

My eyes turned back to my beautiful girlfriend. "Thanks," I said with a broad smile and took the cup. "Careful, it’s h-" Minji started, but I immediately burned my tongue as I tried to take a small sip. Panicking, I set the cup down on the table and fanned my tongue with my hand.

Minji laughed amusedly, shaking her head. "I’d love to kiss it better," she said, intertwining our hands again. "But we're in public," she sighed, rolling her eyes, which made me smile immediately.

"We should probably head home soon then," I replied, causing Minji to blush slightly. She looked straight into my eyes while taking a sip from her straw, grinning at me. "We probably should."

"Minji," I said quietly as I looked at the article on my phone. My eyes immediately filled with tears as goosebumps spread across my body. Dispatch had caught us... right when Minji kissed my fingers. My face was censored, but it was clearly Minji.

Panicking, I tapped on my phone and dialed my girlfriend’s number. It rang for a while before a voice answered, but it wasn’t Minji. My eyes widened immediately.

"Oh my god. Are you Minji’s girlfriend?" I heard from the phone. "Oh, how sweet. Minji has you saved as 'Love of life'," they laughed. My face relaxed as I nervously chewed my lip. My mouth opened, but my entire face turned red at the same time.

"Hello? Are you still there?" I heard another voice say. "If you want Minji, she’s with the CEO right now."

"Is- Is everything okay?" I asked quietly into the phone. There was silence for a moment until multiple voices erupted almost simultaneously. Overwhelmed, my eyes widened. "Is... Minji okay?" I asked again, making some of them say, "Awww." I swallowed. "Can I... come over?"

With a small smile on my face, I now sat on the bench at the dance studio where Minji and her members always practiced their songs and choreographies. Minji was right next to me, with an arm around me, trying to pull me even closer, though it was almost impossible as I was already practically sitting on her. Her eyes were seriously focused, observing every little movement her members made.

"Why do we have to hear from Dispatch that you’re in a relationship?" Hanni asked, clutching her chest playfully. Hyein nodded enthusiastically beside her. Danielle leaned forward a bit to get a good look at my face, making me visibly nervous, so I started to laugh. Danielle smirked and poked my cheek with her finger.

"Hands off," Minji growled, trying to pull me even closer. Surprised, I turned to Minji. "Don’t be so mean," I said, gently tapping her thigh. Minji's expression softened as she looked at me. She exhaled but didn’t respond.

"So? Why did I have to hear from Di-," Hanni began, but I just stared at her. Hanni blinked. "Why is she staring like that?" she asked, looking at the others before looking back at me. "Oh, sorry. I’m... a bit deaf," I said, pointing to my right ear.

Hanni nodded understandingly, and none of them made a big deal out of it. My body relaxed immediately. "Is that why we didn’t know?" Haerin asked, looking at Minji. Minji sighed again. "You’re all crazy," she replied, making Hyein and Hanni laugh and nod.

"I’m hungry," Danielle said, and Hyein nodded vigorously. "Let’s go to the dorm. Y/N can eat with us. Let’s have a movie marathon," Hyein said excitedly, clapping her hands and bouncing in place. I smirked.

"No way," Minji replied almost venomously. "She’s mine," she added, pulling my leg over hers. My eyebrows raised. My hand rested on her arm while the others immediately complained. "That would be fun. Plus, I’d get to know the others better," I said, smiling. "Can we?" I asked, making Minji swallow.

"Okay," Minji replied softly, her hand on my thigh, gently stroking over my pants. "Will you sleep with me too?" she asked hopefully, looking at me with big eyes.

"Simp."

"Absolutely."

"That’s sweet."

"I’m going to puke."

"Hopefully they won’t be like this when we watch the movie."

"Oh god. I’ve got vomit in my mouth."

You and Jay arrived at school. Filled with laughter, the both of you laughed about the mess you guys faced at the bakery with the cashier lady earlier.

(Flashback)

“Woah, you guys are such a cute couple.”

“No,” Jay replied, laughing.

“We’re just friends,” you say, shaking your head, laughing.

(Back to Present)

Just as you gain stares from some individuals out and about to use the restroom, you check your watch. Class started 15 minutes ago, making you snap back at the current situation in time.

“We should probably start going to class. Do you know where your class is Jay? I can help you find yours. I will just run to my class after.”

He opened his phone, checking the student system online to find his class.

“It says I have Mrs.Yang right now.”

You gasped in shock.

“I have her right now too. What a coincidence.”

You guys walked to class together. Earning stares from everyone, Minji, Hayoon, and the other members of your friend group came to hug you.

“What took you so long” they urged, frowning.

Hayoon, who was next to Minji, spots Jay. Running up to him, she hooked her arm in his.

“Woah, you are a student in this class?” connecting a sweet tone after such a message.

“Yeah.”

Seeing the action towards Jay made your eyes widen, alongside hearing heavy breathing against your ear let out by Minji standing next to you. You knew in that instinct that she was angry. Luckily Mrs. Yang called everyone to their seats, stopping a possible blowout.

As roll call went through swiftly, Mrs. Yang announced a new student in the class, leading to Jay walking up to the front for his introduction.

“Hi, my name is Jay. Pleased to meet you guys. Please be well for the last weeks of senior year.”

“Do you have any perforations for your seating in the class Jay?”

“No, I am fine with anything Mrs. Yang."

“Ok, the seat in the back of YN will be your permanent seat from now until the end of the year.”

Maybe it is fate, almost as if all of the events following his arrival here in Korea were fate. The student who sat in his current seat left a few days before you first met Jay that night at your shared apartment with Hayoon. Yerin, the girl that used to live in his current space, moved in with her boyfriend a few days before his arrival. And now, he is here in your class, as the new student, who will sit behind you for the time left at uni.

As he made his way to his seat, he grasped onto the side of your desk, leaving a note behind on your desk.

You opened the note.

“I get to sit behind you. Such an honor.”

You laughed, covering your mouth, making sure no one heard you.

You wrote back.

“Woah, my number fan.”

Sticking the sticky note on the bottom of your shoe, you pushed your foot back for Jay to retrieve the sticky note with his foot.

After not hearing from Jay, you were scared. You hoped that none of your dry humor had hurt anyone, especially Jay, as he was the first ever guy you had spent time with a lot, other than your other friends like Jiwoong and Taerae.

Jay had given you an Airpods case with an Airpod in it. He somehow managed to get the kid next to you and his attention to giving it to you by passing it to him directly. Attached is the front was a sticky note.

“Put it on. I need to let you listen to my favorite song lately. Trust.”

So you put it on. Who could say no to Jay, Jay Park specifically?

The song began to play, fixating your attention not on Mrs. Yang but on the melody instead.

Both you and Jay sat back in your seats, leading a smile as the song went on. It was a nice feeling, sitting there and savoring the moment in such distress.

Jin ha dunque rimandato ogni altro impegno post-congedo che non fosse relativo alle/gli ARMY, lavorando ininterrottamente per 8 giorni, con un solo giorno di riposo. Eppure sorride di cuore ed è chiaro che quelle lunghe ore di lavoro non gli sono affatto pesate e che ci teneva a mostrare alle/i fan quanto sono importanti per lui. “Nulla di insolito, insomma, sa? Congratulazioni per aver completato il tuo servizio militare!

Jin: Mi sembra quasi di essere solo a riposo temporaneamente e che dovrò poi tornare alla base. Ancora non sono entrato completamente nell'ottica del congedo. Anzi, è tutto piuttosto disorientante. Ne ho parlato con gli amici e mi hanno detto che questa sensazione svanirà tempo uno o due mesi, massimo tre. Mi hanno detto, “Vedrai—ti verrà da dire ‘Voglio tornare a casa’, come d'abitudine, anche quando ormai sarai fuori.” Ed è veramente così! (ride)

Quindi stai rispettando la routine quotidiana che seguivi nell'esercito? Jin: Come là, ho già sonno intorno alle 10 o 11 di sera, ma devo riabituarmi ai miei impegni lavorativi, quindi a volte vado a dormire tardi o mi sveglio alle cinque di mattina. Penso riprenderò il giro abbastanza rapidamente. Saranno cosa? 8 giorni che sono uscito, e ho sempre lavorato, a parte un giorno.

E non è stato difficile? Jin: Ci sono abituato, sa? Perché sono una superstar (ride).

Beh, caro signor Superstar, è stata “Dynamite” dei BTS ad accompagnarti mentre uscivi dalla base, il giorno del congedo, vero? E ho visto RM che suonava il sassofono lì accanto a te (ride). Jin: Non mi ero neanche accorto che stesse suonando lì a fianco a me, e ho capito che la canzone era “Dynamite” solo quando ho poi guardato i video, in un secondo momento. Il mio ruolo nell'esercito era assistente sergente istruttore, quindi ero ormai abituato a sentire il sassofono nelle registrazioni della banda militare, tipo durante le cerimonie di arruolamento e congedo. Quindi, quando ho sentito la musica, ho dato per scontato fosse il solito accompagnamento. Ero in lacrime e dovevo anche salutare diverse persone, c'era anche la stampa ed ero talmente sopraffatto da tutto che proprio non avevo idea. Poi mi sono girato, ho visto Namjoon e ho pensato, “Uh?”. Era sempre il solito Namjoon, ma era vestito in modo molto strano (ride)! La scena è stata tipo, “Ma che--? Va beh, grazie per essere venuti. Va bene, Namjoon, ora andiamo, su andiamo.”

Quando ti sei arruolato sei diventato il primo ed unico soldato del gruppo e ora sei il primo ed unico civile. Jin: Sì, e infatti i ragazzi continuavano a dirmi quanto mi invidiano, e i membri del nostro staff, che ci sono sempre accanto, mi hanno confermato di non aver mai visto prima sguardi di più pura gelosia nei loro occhi. Avevano tutti quella stessa espressione. Quindi non è che me ne sia vantato, ma mi sono divertito a stuzzicarli a volontà. Era troppo spassoso vederli prendersela a cuore. Ho continuato per tipo 30 minuti a prenderli in giro (ride).

Il giorno del tuo congedo, hai abbracciato le nuove reclute e detto loro, “È stato bello.” Credo non ci sia testimonianza migliore dell'impegno che hai sempre messo nel corso del servizio militare. E sembrerebbe tu sia stato un ottimo seonbae perché, a quanto pare, uno dei tuoi colleghi più giovani piangeva a dirotto. Jin: Non era il solo—i ragazzi delle caserme assegnate alla mia supervisione - e non solo – erano tutti in lacrime. Ovviamente, non capita sempre di piangere così, ma quando dei bravi seonbae se ne vanno è diverso. Nel mio caso, non credo sia tanto perché ero un bravo seonbae, quanto perché ero popolare (ride). Eravamo un gruppo composto dai vari assistenti sergente istruttore, quindi non eravamo in tanti. In tutto saremo stati 25 e nelle nostre camerate c'erano sempre solo tra le 6 e le 8 persone. C'era questo ragazzo che era solo 4 anni più giovane di me ed era entrato insieme a Hobi, quindi soli 4 mesi dopo il mio ingresso. Nel corso dei restanti 10 mesi abbiamo avuto tempo e modo di diventare buoni amici.

E qual è il segreto di tanta popolarità? Jin: Ho speso parte del mio stipendio per offrire cibo a tutti quanti (ride). Molte reclute hanno appena 19 anni e non hanno mai lavorato prima, mentre io ho una situazione finanziaria molto più stabile, quindi dicevo loro, “Per stare bene bisogna anche mangiare bene. Dài, offro io” e pagavo anche per loro. Ho comprato talmente tanto pollo fritto, jokbal e pizza che, con l'andare del tempo, se ne sono anche un po' stufati. Invitavo anche soldati dalle altre caserme a queste serate barbecue. Talvolta qualcuno scherzava con me dicendo, “Sergente Kim, cos'altro hai fatto, a parte dormire, oggi?” Al che io rispondevo, “In quale camerata sei? Avevo intenzione di offrirti cena, questa sera, ma ho cambiato idea. Non sei invitato!” E loro rispondevano prontamente, “Mi scusi, sergente!” Scherzavamo e ridevamo sempre insieme così, ma tanto alla fine offrivo comunque cena a tutti (ride). Non per vantarmi, ma il mio battaglione mi chiamava 'dio'. Quando mi vedevano, se ne uscivano con “Venite, adoriamolo!” (ride)

Ti hanno anche scritto dei messaggi di congedo, tra i quali uno in cui dicevano che hai offerto loro cibo talmente spesso che non riescono neppure a ricordare i tanti diversi menù gustati. Quando si è nell'esercito, è già abbastanza difficile prendersi cura di se stessi, che cosa ti ha ispirato ad avere tale e tanta buona cura degli altri soldati, allora? Jin: Sono stati tutti molto bravi e generosi con me, quindi ho cercato di mantenere sempre il sorriso e dicevo loro cose tipo, “Non preoccupatevi, facciamo tutti degli errori. Non avete fatto nulla di grave. Sul serio, solo perché ho iniziato sei mesi prima di voi non significa io sia meglio. Sono oltre 10 anni che lavoro nel mondo dello spettacolo e ci sono ancora tantissime cose che non so. Faccio errori anche io—li facciamo tutti.”

Solo in un'occasione ho perso la pazienza.

Cos'è successo? Jin: Uno dei soldati ha commesso uno sbaglio, ma continuava a scherzarci su dicendo, “Non si preoccupi, faccio da solo, signore” al che io gli ho detto, “Non è grave commettere errori. Non è che io pretenda di sapere tutto, faccio errori anche io. Ma se un seonbae ti dà un consiglio, quanto meno fingi di ascoltare. Non va bene continuare a scherzare così. Capisco che—non siamo tutti uguali [e gestiamo le cose in modo diverso]. Ma per lo meno cerca di capire cosa e come mai hai sbagliato. Dal canto mio, posso rispiegarti come fare, quindi cerca di non ripetere lo stesso errore.”

Eri davvero bravo con i soldati più giovani! Non mi stupisce affatto che ti chiamassero 'dio' (ride). Jin: Gli altri soldati del mio stesso grado erano altrettanto fantastici. Quando siamo arrivati circa a metà del servizio militare, le segnalazioni anonime sono cessate e sia i nostri superiori che le reclute ed il resto del personale si son detti soddisfatti al 98-99%. Da quel che so, solitamente il grado di soddisfazione si aggira attorno al 38-40%. Erano tutti piuttosto invidiosi della nostra squadra. Andavamo tutti molto d'accordo.

E immagino che tutti quanti – non solo le nuove reclute – fossero tristi di doverti salutare (ride). Ti sei meritato anche il titolo di “soldato d'élite”, giusto? Jin: Dipende dalle singole basi, ma da noi c'era l'opportunità di far pratica con le armi da fuoco, ogni qual volta arrivavano nuove reclute. Quindi ho potuto esercitarmi molto e facevo anche sempre esercizi come addominali e flessioni per conto mio, quindi, mano a mano, sono diventato sempre più forte. Dovevamo andare a correre insieme alle reclute e, in quanto assistente addestramento, non potevo rimanere indietro, quindi mi sono imposto di continuare ad esercitarmi e a correre finché non sono migliorato. Mentre mi preparavo per ottenere quel titolo, i colleghi con più esperienza sciamavano tutti da me e mi dicevano, “Devi saltare cena, o avrai lo stomaco pieno e pesante e non riuscirai a correre domani.” Al che io promettevo che avrei mangiato poco, ma loro insistevano, “No. Ma se proprio devi, limitati ad un boccone.” Il giorno successivo, tornavano all'attacco con cose tipo, “Oggi è il gran giorno. Smetti di bere acqua, ora.” E io, “Solo un sorso!” e loro mi concedevano, “Un sorso, poi basta.” Poi aggiungevano, “Ecco, con questo non sentirai dolore quando inizieranno a farti male le gambe, così potrai correre senza problemi” e l'istante successivo mi son ritrovato coperto da testa a piedi di ghiaccio spray.

Da come ne parli, sembra proprio tu fossi molto amato. A riprova di quanto, a tua volta, tu fossi bravo con tutti loro. Jin: Che dire? Sono semplicemente adorabile (ride).

Eri amato dai tuoi colleghi nell'esercito e, ora che hai finito, ricevi l'amore delle/i tue/oi fan, le/gli ARMY, che hai recentemente incontrato dal vivo alla BTS FESTA. Jin: Quando si presta servizio, ci sono molte restrizioni da rispettare e nulla di ciò che hai ed usi è veramente tuo, il che non è sempre facile. Ma quando sono salito sul palco, avevo le/i mie/i fan di fronte, il mio microfono ed auricolari personali ed era tutto esattamente come me lo ricordavo. Mi è sembrato di esser tornato a casa. La gente cerca sempre di immaginare come sia essere una superstar, sentire le grida di supporto dal palco. Io conosco già quella sensazione e, chiaramente, non c'è dubbio che col tempo avrei potuto sperimentarla di nuovo, ma mentre ero al militare ne ero privato e ne ho sentito la mancanza. Quindi, quando sono uscito, ho proprio realizzato, Ecco, è così che deve essere—il batticuore, il teso entusiasmo e il boato della folla.

Com'è stato tornare sul palco e sentire di nuovo quelle grida? Jin: Probabilmente non è ciò che le/i fan vorrebbero sentire, ma ho cercato con tutto me stesso di distaccarmi da ciò che stavo provando. Cioè, era il giorno immediatamente successivo al mio congedo. Non ho avuto molto tempo per provare ed era passato un sacco dall'ultima volta che avevo cantato. Avevo paura sarei scoppiato a piangere, se mi fossi abbandonato alle emozioni una volta iniziata l'esibizione. Volevo fosse un bello spettacolo per le/i fan, quindi non potevo lasciarmi andare e lasciare che le emozioni avessero il sopravvento, impedendomi di cantare. Quindi ho alzato a palla il volume degli auricolari di proposito, ho cercato di tagliare fuori ogni emozione e la prima canzone l'ho eseguita ad occhi chiusi. Anzi, ho anche provato a fare un trattamento cheongsimhwan (*rimedio tradizionale coreano con effetto calmante) specificamente per quella performance (ride).

In che senso? Di cosa si tratta? Jin: Sapevo che avrei avuto il batticuore, quando sarei tornato sul palco, quindi ho provato a seguire un ciclo di pillole cheongsimhwan, ogni qual volta rientravo alla base dopo i miei giorni liberi. Volevo testare se prendere quel medicinale rendesse la gola secca e quanto avesse effettivamente effetto calmante. Però, in fin dei conti, mi lasciava con la gola molto asciutta ed avevo paura mi si sarebbe spezzata la voce, sul palco, quindi ho subito cercato una qualche alternativa, e ho seguito quella. Però il mio cuore batteva comunque all'impazzata.

E nonostante tutto, hai anche cantato in anteprima la versione completa di “Super Tuna”, inclusa la seconda strofa. E l'hai fatto con un solo giorno di tempo per prepararti. Jin: La canzone era già belle che pronta, quindi mi sono limitato a riascoltarla e ripassarla per memorizzare la seconda strofa. Ma, di fatto, credo fosse comunque evidente quanto io fossi agitato (ride). Oh, e ora sto lavorando sodo al mio nuovo album. Fortunatamente, gli altri sono riusciti a finire i loro prima di iniziare il servizio, e presto uscirà quello di Jimin. Credo sia meglio non aspettare troppo e rilasciare il mio dopo quello di Jimin, quindi ce la sto mettendo tutta per finirlo al più presto. Mi piacerebbe anche partecipare ad alcuni varietà. E dato che è da tanto che le/gli ARMY non vedono il mio viso, ci tenevo ad esporlo in un qualche luogo che fosse chiaramente visibile alle/i fan, quindi mi sono riservato appositamente dello spazio sui cartelloni pubblicitari più grandi che sono riuscito a trovare.

Hai fatto tutto questo, più la BTS FESTA il giorno dopo il congedo, e non sono passati che 8 giorni? Jin: È il mio modus operandi. Non si smette certo di respirare solo perché l'aria non è pulita (ride). Mi son detto che certe cose vanno fatte volenti o nolenti, anche se le circostanze non sono delle migliori.

Hai detto che la BTS FESTA è una delle cose cui non rinunceresti mai. Immagino tu non abbia fatto che esercitarti ogni qual volta eri in ferie, durante il servizio, e anche non appena congedato. Non dev'essere stato facile. Jin: La pressione era tanta, ma sì. È stata dura, visto che non potevo neppure esercitarmi e non avevo abbastanza tempo. Semplicemente, ho tenuto duro e l'ho fatto per amore (ride).

Quello sì che è amore vero (ride). Questo mi ricorda ciò che hai scritto nella tua lettera per il 10° anniversario dei BTS: “Si dice che, in 10 anni, persino le montagne ed i fiumi cambino. Quindi trovo incredibile che l'amore tra i BTS e le/gli ARMY non sia cambiato.”

Jin: Anche se, in un futuro distante, le/gli ARMY dovessero mai abbandonarci, noi non potremmo mai lasciare le/gli ARMY. Come ho già detto in precedenza, stare insieme alle/gli ARMY è come essere a casa. Ci danno tanta sicurezza. Vorrei ribadire che cercherò di dare sempre il massimo e chiedere loro di rimanerci accanto per molto molto tempo. Inoltre, voglio ringraziarlə per averci aspettati.

Come hai fatto a continuare a dare solo sempre il meglio di te, ogni singolo giorno, in questi ultimi 11 anni? Jin: È merito di tutto l'amore che i BTS nutrono per le/gli ARMY. È del tutto normale fare del nostro meglio per le persone cui vogliamo bene, no? Pensi a ciò che si prova quando ci piace tantissimo qualcuno: si dà il proprio 100% per quella persona. Vale lo stesso per noi. Non è del tutto normale?

Dovrebbe, ma non è sempre così. Anche quando si ama tantissimo una persona e si cerca di essere sempre al meglio per lei, talvolta non si può fare a meno di priorizzare altre cose.

Jin: Quando ho finito il servizio militare, ho posticipato ogni altro impegno per poter incontrare le/i fan. Ho avvisato preventivamente la mia famiglia e gli amici: “Devo vedere le/gli ARMY, quindi vi sarei grato se aspettaste ad organizzare festeggiamenti per il mio congedo dopo questa prima settimana”. E la gente intorno a me mi diceva, “Sei appena uscito—dovresti riposarti. Vediamoci”. Il congedo è stato di mercoledì, ma non mi sono preso impegni fino alla settimana successiva. Tutto il resto poteva attendere. Vedere le/i mie/i fan era la mia priorità assoluta—ci tenevo a mostrare loro tutta la mia gratitudine, prima di dedicarmi a qualsiasi altra cosa. Nessun se né ma. È sempre stato così ed è ciò che che ci si aspetta. Le/gli ARMY mi danno tutto il loro sostegno e la cosa mi rende davvero felice. Sono persone estremamente importanti per me, quindi penso sia del tutto normale priorizzare il tempo che trascorro insieme a loro.

Trovo davvero eccezionale che questo sia un sentimento che ti sei portato avanti per 11 anni consecutivi.

Jin: Quando penso a quanto sono felice e rifletto sulla ragione—di fatto, è perché sono un membro dei BTS. Ed i BTS esistono solo grazie alle/gli ARMY. Ho sempre adorato le/gli ARMY proprio per quel motivo e lə adoro sempre di più, ogni giorno che passa, e spero possano essere sempre più felici. È per questo che cerco sempre di dare il massimo per loro.

Penso sia normale tu desideri esprimere il tuo amore per le/gli ARMY, ma non è del tutto scontato ricevere così tanto affetto di rimando, quindi, sì, immagino quella sia la tua motivazione, ciò che ti spinge a lavorare tanto sodo.

Jin: Il fatto che io piaccia alle persone, l'affetto e rispetto ricevuto dagli altri soldati, il cibo che mi viene offerto gratis quando mangio fuori, il modo in cui mi tratta la gente—è tutto merito del mio status in quanto membro dei BTS. Ma potrebbe anche essere perché sono affascinante (ride).

Che cos'è per te la felicità? In precedenza, ti è stato chiesto che cosa pensi ci sarà quando questo momento bellissimo giungerà al termine, e hai risposto che sicuramente ce ne saranno altri, sebbene sperassi la gioia presente potesse durare per sempre. Jin: La penso un po' diversamente, ora (ride). Però non è così che funzionano le cose, in realtà, cioè... non è che all'improvviso la mia vita sprofonderà nel baratro più buio ed orribile. Ora come ora, trovo la mia vita sia già sufficientemente positiva e bella, quindi non vedo che motivo ci sia di pensare al futuro e preoccuparmi dei momenti più belli a venire. Ora sono una star globale, ma anche dovessi perdere in notorietà, o semplicemente diventare una stella per la mia famiglia e nessun altro, se sono comunque felice, tanto basta. Perché dovrei disperarmi? Significherebbe forse non avrei mai più altri momenti bell come ora? Ho capito che non ha senso pensarla così. Devo solo continuare a vivere la mia vita così come viene, anche un giorno dovessi diventare una star solo per le persone più care. Quando si è felici, quello è il momento più bello delle nostre vite.

Quindi, sì, ho deciso di considerare tutta la mia esistenza come un unico, lungo momento di bellezza e felicità.

adore u has rlly stolen my heart recently after Vanner performed it for peak time (which they also used as their encore song in concert) and home is sooo pretty it was one of the first seventeen songs i listened to!!! also i LOVE the way your family has caught on to aju nice hahaha that's so fun and wholesome it's such a catchy phrase 😂

if you like adore u, i recommend mansae (the music video is also iconic) and snapshoot (one of seventeen's favorite songs to perform in concert) !! if you like home, you might like our dawn is hotter than the day (which is sUCH a poetic name for a song).

also a highlight of seventeen is their divisions into different subunits so i can give u my top 5 songs that are all from subunits. the main 3 subunits are vocal (woozi, jeonghan, joshua, dk, seungkwan), hip hop (s.coups, wonwoo, mingyu, vernon), and performance (hoshi, jun, the8, dino). my fave vocal unit song is Hug (such a comforting ballad), my fave rap unit song is Gam3 Bo1 (truly noise music but it's so fun in concert when everyone is jumping together and mindlessly yelling the chorus), and my fave performance unit song is PANG! (a cute song comparing having a crush to my heart being like a balloon <3 floating in the air, expanding, and could explode like pang! if you come too close aksdflajsdfsf SO CUTE RIGHT). anyways! there's also some other subunits such as the leader subunit (s.coups, woozi, hoshi) which i recommend their song change up (though you might be more familiar with cheers, the change up mv is SO aesthetic). and i am personally very very fond of the booseoksoon subunit (seungkwan, dk, and hoshi) and if you haven't listened to their song fighting you definitely should, especially if you like aju nice!!! it's got a very wholesome uplifting message and an addictive chorus.
