She's here! Our #newprofilepic winner is @scj985! Here's what she wants you all to know! "Mixed and proud! 60% #Black (#African origin) 40% #White (#European) Biggest problem, lack of melanin and acceptance to any ethnic group. The privilege received by my light skin is the detriment to my being accepted into the black community. I love being able to talk through racial disparities and get them to listen because I have experienced so much from different people with different backgrounds. Also. I finally fell in love with my hair! 80s baby, 90s kid.. barely any representation of mixed people in the media (at the time,) and have been an anomaly throughout life." 🏴🏳️🇺🇸 Thanks to everyone who entered! I was overjoyed to see my inbox full of BEE YOU TEA FULL women with different stories to tell! Don't fret! We'll be picking our November winner at the end of this month. Can't believe this year's almost over! Make sure to congratulate Stephanie! 🥳✨ Can you relate to her experience? Also it's still #latinxheritagemonth! Where my mixed latinas at that want to be featured?? 🖤 #mixedgirlproblems #happyoctober #halloween #spookyseason #mixedlgbtq https://www.instagram.com/p/CjMBephuRS4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

@jaeylin.snyder: "Okay So- #beingbiracial AND #bisexual- but also being in a hetero relationship and having brown skin. Need I say more? The classic “you don’t talk/act like a black girl.” Too black to be white, too white to be black. Dating a guy, therefore I’m OBVIOUSLY straight because I can’t date a man but like women. No grey allowed. However I’m #Black so the fact I’m dating a white guy means I hate my race.. even tho my race is technically more #White anyway.. yknow, 56% and all.. but what do I know. I identify how I choose. I like to say I’m #queer, and I’m #mixed. I dont have to answer “bisexual” and “black and white.” I said I’m queer, so I’m queer. I said I’m mixed, so #Immixed. Thank you, next. This page makes me so happy. Thank you for starting it." 🏳️🌈🏴🏳️🇺🇸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's #PrideMonth! @lilmixxlamb: "#Black & #White. I feel like we don’t see enough #nonbinary #mixedpeople out in the world. Growing up, I never really fully felt like I related to either gender and was constantly feeling out of place amongst my peer group at times. On top of having no preference for attraction in regards to gender, #beingmixed further put me in a place where I didn’t feel like I belong especially growing up in a more conservative part of Texas. I’m thankful for the people out there who supported my journey of self discovery and helped me blossom into something beautiful. To all the people out there that feel like you don’t belong anywhere, that’s okay, you are who you define and that’s perfectly beautiful." 🏳️🌈🏴🏳️🇺🇸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's #PrideMonth! #StorméDeLarverie was a #biracial #butch #lesbian, male impersonator & performer. They were known as the Rosa Parks of the gay community, volunteering to patrol the streets of NY to protect fellow LGBTQ with a baseball bat! Their scuffle with the police was what started the infamous #StonewallRiots. They are known as one of the great #gaycivilrights icons. (Pronouns: they/them) Stormés father was #White; their mother was #AfricanAmerican & worked as a servant for his family. DeLarverie was born in New Orleans in 1920. However, they were never given a birth certificate because #interracialmarriage was against the law, but they celebrated their birthday on December 24th. While growing up, they were often bullied, attacked & beaten by peers for being biracial — one incident left them with a leg brace, another resulted in a scar from being left hanging on a fence. Their father ultimately sent them away to private school for their own safety. They also spent some time as a teenager in the Ringling Bros. Circus, riding & jumping horses side-saddle. At around 18, they realized they were #gay & decided to move to Chicago. Stormé feared they'd be murdered if they stayed in the South. "I’m a human being that survived. I helped other people survive.” 🏳️🌈🏴🏳️🇺🇸 #fbf #ff #featurefriday #mixedlgbtq #pridemonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CQjugEzFYKd/?utm_medium=tumblr
