Bridge over Mountain Lake

Located about 62 km (approx. 39 miles) southwest of Tokyo, the Niji-no-Ohashi Bridge, a reversed Lohnse arch bridge, crosses Lake Miyagase in the mountains of Kanagawa Prefecture. This man-made lake is one of the major sources of water for home, industrial, and agricultural use in Kanagawa Prefecture.

This shot was taken at Toriihara Park, which is located high up on the northern shoreline of the lake and has been developed to provide visitors with grand views of the lake, the mountains, and Niji-no-Ohashi Bridge.

Day 4 Bukkasan

Climbing this mountain had been on my itinerary for 2019, but after a typhoon destroyed the hiking trail, that didn't happen. So, another try this year!

The trail was really pretty, leading us (me and my fried) a across a couple other peaks, before eventually making it to Bukkasan. As much as I loved the views, this climb made it painfully clear how much my physical fitness deteriorated in the last couple years. Climbing didn't use to be this hard! I felt like an old grandma trying to get up stairs and back down again.

This mountain is definitely a "would not recommend" to beginners. Personally, I think it's on the advanced side. Some parts are just rock climbing, and the final part near Miyagase Dam is super steep! I ended up losing grip with my feet and sliding down little bits multiple times!

But it was a pretty trail, and I don't regret going!

By the end I was too tired to really check out the dam area, so we just headed onward and caught a bus to the Yukaraku onsen to recharge.

At the end, we were for some reason told we did not have to pay, leaving us utterly confused. My friend used a coupon that should give us 10% off, but... They clearly messed that up. Our honesty led to the staff trying to get the coupon added correctly, taking up so much of our time the onsen's free shuttle to the train station was already fully packed when we finally arrived at the stop. While they were messing around, we had informed them we wished to catch that shuttle, so when it turned out we missed out, they immediately arranged a staff member to give us a ride to the station using a different car (at no cost). Which was really nice and helpful.

All in all a very exhausting, but fun day.

Last Friday night, I went to Miyagase to see the sky by Kaito's car. Since I have been living in the main principles like Tokyo, I have not seen the sky in which I can see many stars ever before. We had a nice view. When we turn to go, an old man asked us if we want to see the moon via telescope. We said yes and he lend us his telescope. That was impressive. I could see the full moon clearly like this photo. I had a nice experience and I thought we were lucky. If you have time and could do so, I recommend you go to Miyagase to see the moon and the sky. I promise that you can have a nice view unless the whether is nice.
