The show is in hiatus what do you want me to do, a comic? an AU? I'm already doing it for TLK

I'm waiting for season 6 and 7.

Doesnt mean i wont do some art, i have done a realistic Plagg eldritch horror like a month ago. But i have never been a ML only account.

When i have the motivation i will probably continue with my ML TLK AU or do some more eldritch Plagg with Adrien

I redesigned Gabriel because i had to make him look fabulous.

Also a bit into Adrien’s life + a sweet moment between father and son.

As promised, here’s Marinette’s redesign for the TLK AU. Like i said, she is going to be the leader of the Lion Guard.

Second pic is how Sabine, Tom and Marinette usually sleep in the pride den. Tom acts as a big pillow for his favorites girls, he doesnt mind.

And third pic is the first time Marinette and Adrien met, before they get The Roar.

Here’s Marinette’s Lion Guard!

A bit of explanation for each one:

Alya, The Keenest of Sight: She is new to the Pridelands but managed to become Marinette’s best friend in less than a day. The first one to be chosen to be part of the guard, she also knows about Adrien, and Alya doesnt waste time and teases Marinette whenever she can. 

Kagami, The Bravest: She is the third to be chosen as part of the guard. She used only to train with her mom and their pride, but one day saw Adrien sneaking away in a suspicious way and decided to follow him. And lo a behold, she was in the Pridelands! She didnt have time to enjoy the view because she got the same welcoming that Adrien got, again by Marinette xD Kagami got starstrucked by the tiny lioness and her fierceness. She gets her role in the guard by saving both Adrien and Marinette from a Nile Monitor that have been stalking the Tsurugi pride for months.

Kim, The Fastest: Childhood friend of Marinette, it’s wasnt that difficult to choose him as the fastest. His athletic condition plus the fact that he could rival crocodiles with his swimming abilities made him earn the title. He was chosen not long after Alya.

Luka, The Smartest: This rogue came back one day saying he was Juleka’s brother and wanted to stay in the Pridelands to help. At first everyone was suspicious, specially Adrien, since Marinette seemed charmed by the older lion and his stories. But the lion proved himself to be trustworthy, when he presented his best friend to the group: a small cobra named Sass, and explained to them that there’s nothing to be afraid of, that Sass’ venom could have curative properties and he was willing to let the Shaman work with it. In the end, Luka confesses that he actually came back because he got information that his father was around the Pridelands and he wanted to meet him.  No, he doesnt know he is a Leopon. Neither does Juleka.

Zoé, The Strongest: The last one to join the guard. Marinette was having a hard time trying to choose a lion for the role: Ivan could have been perfect, but he didnt want more responsibilities and politely rejected the role. And Nino could stand his ground, but he was busy gushing over Alya and how cool she was. And then Zoé appeared. The bastard child of Queen Aubrey, whom she abandoned in the Outlands.The royal family, except for André, didnt want anything with her, so she was basically nothing. Doesnt mean that Zoé didnt try to get close to them. When a rockslide almost kills Chloé one day, Zoé jumps and shields her sister, receiving all the impact. Her live in the Outlands, tho, had endured her skin and muscles, and both lionesses get out of the mess with tiny scratches. Marinette picks her then as the Strongest and last memeber of her guard.

Here comes the Royals of the Pridelands!

Chloé is the Princess and future Queen of the Pridelands. Like in canon, she is a spoiled brat that believes every other animal, that isn’t a lion, is inferior to her and her family. She knows the basics of the Circle of Life and she respects it, she maaaaaay have been the one who gave the idea to his dad about the other lions of her age acting as diplomats between the different herds, but her mother has not been a good influence to her, specially since Chloé believes that acting this way, her mother is finally going to settle in the Pridelands for good.

Speaking of which, Audrey is...not exactly the Queen? Not by blood, at least, she is the Queen Consort. She comes and goes as she pleases, leaving André to deal with the kingdom and their daughter all by himself. André used to have a darker mane but because of the stress, his mane is getting lighter in color. He lacks the backbone to confront his wife, even when she comes back with a child that is obviously not his.

And well, Chloé doesn´t take well that Marinette has been chosen to be her Guard. They have been enemies since they were cubs. Marinette isn´t thrilled either, but she has been training a big part of her life for this, she is not going to let Chloé stop her and not commit to her duty.

okok i said i was gonna work on Chloé, BUT, these two designs have been bothering me a lot so here’s the new versions of Alya and Luka for the ML TLK AU!

EDIT: I heard you guys and i agree that Alya’s head fur looked like a mullet so now it looks like this! Now is more organic, the brown gets fused into the orange fur like her canon hair and she keeps the fluffiness. I think this is a good mid point.

Here, an update to my ML TLK AU. Adrien (left) still shares The Roar with Marinette, and Felix (right) is jealous his cousin has powers, even tho Felix is in the Grasslands studying to be the next shaman.

So Felix, being the little shit he is, impersonates Adrien sometimes by painting a fake mark on his shoulder and going into the Pridelands to cause some ruckus.

Personality wise? Basically the same as canon. She was welcomed into Gabriel's pride (that was just him and Emilie) and she is grateful to both of them. And she may have a crush on them too hehe.

When Emilie "dies", she stays loyal to Gabriel for the previous reasons and because she loves Adrien as her own son. She basically raises him and teaches him a lot of lion stuff that Gabriel is too busy to deal with (because he is distracted trying to find a way to revive his mate).

And so far that's it until i see how season 5 develops xD

I had a few questions, if that’s allowed?

1. What kind of lions are the Dupain-Cheng family? Since their pelts, especially Sabine and Marinette’s, are very dark. Or were you just making stuff up for the AU? I wasn’t sure, since you seem to know a LOT about the Lion King.

2. Is there a reason why Alya looks like she kinda has a mane, or was that just your way of showing off her canon hair? Either way I really like it!!!!!

3. Why does Zoè look so scared/sad in your drawing of her? Is she okay? Or is that just her being sad that Queen Audrey and Princess Chloe don’t really accept her?

4. I saw you mention the Tsurugi pride allying itself with King Gabriel. But Kagami is a member of the Lion Guard. I thought only members of the Prideland’s pride could be part of the Lion Guard? Of course that would also exclude Adrien, technically. Are you just changing it up for your AU, is there more info we don’t know about Kagami and Adrien yet, or am I wrong about the requirements of the Lion Guard? (I will admit I don’t know a lot about the canon Lion Guard, so I’m curious lol)

5. What’s a Leopold (?)? I think you mentioned Luka being one? Also I just wanted to say your design for Luka is great! I still prefer Kovu, but Luka is fun too lol. He does look a little stoned though - and honestly I find the thought of Luka being high hilarious for some reason lol

6. Are all the classmates gonna be part of the pride? I would LOVE to see your takes on them! I already can’t wait to see more of Marinette and Adrien, but I’d love to see haughty Princess Chloe too! 👑

Sure thing i love questions about this AU!

1. Tom is just a typical african lion while Sabine and Marinette are Asian lions! In The Lion Guard Asian lions look like this:

The lionesses specifically seem to have a very visble mark in their backs, which is what im using to differentiate them from the typical african lions. 

Grey lions, on the other hand, have been a thing since Simba's Pride:

So the grey color palette is not unusual. This is all my reasoning to make Sabine, Marinette and Kagami look that way. And im also using their clothes instead of the color skin as pelts, while with the males, is easier because their manes are their hair's color.

3. Yeah, she has a lot of insecurities and she doubts her position as The Strongest, since Audrey has made her feel like nothing and Chloé doesnt accept her as her sister.  

4. I asked some people in the fandom that has watched the show more than me and is up to interpretation? But the agreements is that, once chosen, they need to live in the Pridelands. So, in the lore of my AU, that applies as well.

 I explained that Adrien kinda loses his powers if he is not close to Marinette because of this rule. The Tsurugi pride is indeed in ally with Gabriel but it’s more of “i want to live here because i dont want to make an ally with the Pridelands royals cause they suck and is convenient” rather than being full pals lol. Kagami does end up moving to the Pridelands after she is chosen as The Bravest, and she visits her mom from time to time. Tomoe agrees to this because she is proud of her daughter’s achievements.

5. Leopon! It’s a hybrid between a male leopard and a lioness. So Jagged is a leopard and Anarka is a lioness.

6. Yes, they are all part of the Pridelands! I do want to draw all of them, but i cant promise it will be soon tho. Chloé, tho, she is coming up next!

Since I just saw your post and began freaking out in sheer excitement, I figured a comment isn't going to suffice. So, ask it is.

A little background information here; I grew up with TLK. It's much older than me, but it was my brother's favorite Disney animation, and he had me obsessed. I was a sick kid who missed school often and was bedridden more than she wasn't, and TLK was my only salvation. Once, I watched it ten times in a day. Back to back. I still managed to cry when Mufasa died exactly ten times. I still cry when I watch Mufasa die, and I'm an adult.

So you can understand why I began weeping in joy when I saw your ML TLK AU.

It's beautiful. It's magnificent work. I've never been happier in life about anything. Gabriel's design? My God, you captured his character. Nathalie is gorgeous. Gorilla being an actual gorilla is brilliant. Adrien looks as every bit of a starry-eyed sweetheart as he should (I would say you could maybe lighten his mane a bit, but then, I understand that this is a lion we're talking about).

But let's get to Dupain-Chengs. I'm... I don't have the words.

Sabine is... Look, her body was dwarfed by Tom's, her eyes were closed, we practically didn't see much but she is beauty. Personified. My God, I'm in love with her design. You've outdone yourself.

Tom is every bit of sweet dad Tom that he is in the show and I love the fact that you managed to keep the mustache in design because that is half of his character.

And Marinette being a fierce lioness is what I'll sign up to go to war for. I smell Adrienette slight rivalry going on. That would be gold. (But then again, it's your AU and your choice)

In short? You have me captured. Enthralled. I'm never leaving.

Tiny question (literally): Are you planning on designing the rest of the gang? Nino, Alya, maybe even Chloé? Or perhaps Emilie?

I just realized that if Adrien pulls cat puns in this AU, it would be peak comedy because he is an actual feline.

Adrien's mane color is the color i use to paint Adrien's hair normally xD I dont like using yellow, is a color idk how to blend well. The desaturated one i use is the one i have grown comfortable with for years now, sorry.

Sabine, yes! Took me a while to figure out her pelt color but im glad how it ended up looking. And Tom needed the mustache, that was a must. Probably gonna make a full body sheet for them.

I just had a thought for a cute/funny thing for your ML TLK AU: Marinette tried to learn to be a hunter like her parents before the whole Roar thing, but her clumsiness comes out full force and she's just... Bad at it. So one day she's talking with Adrien and finds out he had to learn to hunt for his own meals already because his pride is so tiny and Marinette is all just "Are you just good at everything you try?"

Adrien, contemplating the chances of getting swatted if he says yes: "... Nooooo."

But he does start teaching her his own hunting style and they start hunting together for practice and bonding time.

Marinette knows the basics of hunting but she has been trained by Fu to be Lion Guard (since Chloé didnt have any siblings and André wanted someone to protect his daughter) most of the times, so she may have missed the hunter stuff that her parents wanted to teach her. So yeah, she is not as clumsy as Kiara in Simba's Pride but needs some help in that area.

And you are correct! Since Adrien's pride is very little, he learned fast to catch his own meals. Not exactly easy if you live on the mountains, tho. His best move is jumping from above and surprise the prey from than angle. He is very impatient tho 😅 which sometimes causes him to jump earlier and scare the prey.

So both of them help each other out: Marinette with her patience and calculations; and Adrien, with his lessons and tricks.

I really love your TLK ML au, my favorite art has to be Marinette and Adrien first meeting, with Adrien finding out that, oh, he likes lionesses who can kick his butt, that's good to know. His expression really cracks me up.

If you need an excuse to talk more about it, a few questions about the AU for you to pick and choose from: How did Marinette and Adrien get their shared Roar? How did Adrien convince the pride to let him stay, if it was before said Roar acquisition? What's the biggest surprise Adrien had about how his new pride does things differently than his old one? (Basically any culture shock?). And finally, Marinette's reaction at finding out Adrien is prince of his old pride?

Now to answer your questions

The lore explanation is that the Spirit of the Lions of the Past saw them both worthy of it. Marinette still has the biggest responsibility and her Roar can work without Adrien's, even if weaker, but Adrien's doesnt. Adrien's powers dissapear outside the Pridelands if Marinette isnt with him. Hence why Gabriel doesn't suspect his son is part of the Guard. Now, what is the event that makes them gain The Roar? We'll see.

He doesnt! He comes and goes from the Pridelands to the Mountains. At first Gabriel doesnt know how his son managed to escape (Adrien gets the help of someone special 😉), but one he learns Adrien is getting closer to the leader of the Lion Guard, he allows him to visit them. It's all part of Gabriel's plan to use The Roar to revive Emilie, tho.

Basically the freedom! And that there's so many lions! Gabriel's kingdom is pretty particular: he doesnt have his own lionesses except for Emilie (who is dead/comatose) and Nathalie. The rest of his kingdom are different herd of animals that are allowed to live in Gabriel's mountains floors. Gabriel's best allies are the Gorilla kingdom and the Tsurugi pride, that has recently installed themselves in the mountains.

It goes like canon: Marinette hates Adrien at first because she thinks he has the same "princey" attitude all the royals have, specially since Chloe comes saying he is her friend. Yup, spoiler alert: Chloe is the Princess of the Pridelands. But later Marinette learns about Adrien's live in his pride and changes her mind about him. While he gets inmediately smitten by her it takes Marinette a little more while to get like that. She is more focused on learning how to use The Roar, forming her guard and understanding why she is sharing her powers with another lion.

Speaking of the Couffaines, of course im gonna make Jagged and the whole tea that exists around the family. Since there's no "akumas" in this AU, Luka is gonna have a bigger outburst than in canon. The Agrestes cant be the only ones with family drama xD

Tikki and Plagg are gonna make an appearance! They are also important, altho Adrien's and Plagg's relationship is gonna be more touched upon (sorry, is my bias towards those two, i love them).

This is my AU and i make the rules and the biggest rule is: no love triangles lol.

Also, i will make it gay: Kagami has a big crush on Marinette and tends to compete with Adrien on who gets her attention first. There's no bad blood between each other, it's just a sane competition.

When Luka appears, he grabs Marinette's attention at first but he realizes easily that there's something going on between her and Adrien so he just stays out of the way. He is the big bro of the group. But Luka's arc is about his identity as an hybrid.

Still figuring out the whole "Hawkmoth" thing. I think Gabriel is gonna use hallucinogens plants to cause ruckus and he will appear with face paint and fake marks to disguise himself and convince his targets that he is a grand/bad spirit or something.

Btw, Gabriel's plan is not to steal Marinette's Roar: his plan is to force Marinette to train to the point her Roar is powerful enough to be used to revive Emilie, the same way Kion's Roar revived Scar.

I think that's mostly it in general what i want to show for now. I dont think i will make a comic but bita of scraps there and there that i hope, you guys can understand (i mean already someone on instagram didnt recognize the designs of Alya, Kagami, Kim, Zoé and Luka, i feel disappointed in myself for that OTL)
