I think most american comics like the X-Men could benefit from using the storytelling aproach of Scooby Doo, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Gundam, James Bond, Star Trek and Doctor Who.

What is that aproach?

Those franchises are longevous as they are because they make self contained story arcs/seasons/films in the series.

So say, you watch Scooby Doo Mystery Inc, and you follow that show fine, no need to go all back to the 1969 Scooby Doo: Where Are You ? series unless you really want to.

In the case of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai/Power Rangers, they are conected by a specific formula of masked heros (individual or team) fight monster of the week until getting onto the big boss at the finale, and ocasionally have crossover episodes, but overall each season is its own show with different, new characters, gimmicks and villain.

For example, I grew with up the Power Rangers that was animal themed, another younger generation will grow with one that is Mystical Fantasy theme, and so forward.

Gundam is an anime franchise that has a conecting theme: discussing war and the politics behind and consequences of war trough the adventures of giant mecha pilots representing different planetary factions.

Only all the rest, the characters, the robots, the plots, the tone and aesthetics, will be their own distinct self contained story from which you pick a favorite to follow.

James Bond's series if formed by each a different movie with beggining middle and end, ocasionally there can be references to previous movies, and some villains like Blofeld return to the franchise, but overall you can follow one movie fine without needing to see the previous one unless again, you are a really big Bond fan that wants to see everything related to that franchise.

Star Trek has a similar aproach to Kamen/Rider, Super Sentai/Power Rangers an Gundam: a formula (group of heroes travels trough space) and new characters, themes and storylines that can be followed on their own, so you can watch The Next Generation, or Voyager, or just one of the movies, and not be obliged to go all the way back to the Original Series to follow what's happening

One cannot forget the show that endured because it embraced change, Doctor Who, a show about an alien in a blue box, having adventures trough space and time, with their companions, and every three years, there will be a new Doctor and a new group of friends that will be YOUR version of the characters!

So what could be incorporated into the X-Men comics from these examples?

Well, you start with one character and their group of heroes.

Their mentor and its students.

Then you complete their arc, their main story is over.

And next you go trough the next series: put in a new school, a new scenario beyond the United States, a new Headmaster and Teachers, and a new group of students.

Some of the previous characters can make cameos or be incorporated into the main story as mentor figures, but extablish that their main struggle is over, they conquered their problems, and now is time to guide the next generation trough THEIR new sets of conflicts.

And I'm not inventing the wheel here, the X books gave us precendent in this during the Chris Claremont era.

We started with headmaster Professor X training Angel, Cyclops, Jean, Beast and Iceman, then new characters joined in and renovated the team with Kitty Pryde and Jubilee acting as audience POV characters, and then we saw Magneto becoming the new Headmaster and teaching the New Mutants who have been characters embraced by old and new fans.

If the sliding scale timeline didn't started in the 80s, the New Mutants would have aged in real time and become the teachers of characters representing OUR generation!

Some vaguely but attempting to be as non-spoilery as possible thoughts about MSG: The Witch from Mercury (Episode 07)

-folks who were worried Miorine wasn’t getting any attention the last couple episodes, worry no more

-while Miorine denying she cares about anything besides her personal goals, and then proceeding to prove herself a liar by making a personal sacrifice on Suletta’s behalf before the episode’s end, may seem to be a bit of a repeat from Episode 02, I think it was necessary, both to emphasize that, yes, Miorine cares *a lot* about Suletta, and because this time Suletta was present and witnessed it (I don’t think Miorine or Prospera ever told Suletta the details of the decision not to scrap Aerial in Episode 02)

-speaking of: Prospera, please stay away from Miorine (I think during their chat was the closest that we’ve yet seen to Prospera going mask-off [figuratively speaking], and it was *unsettling*)

-Prospera also casually confirms that tidbit from Episode 06 about the show’s timeline, but doesn’t say anything else about it (natch)

-Shaddiq, please stay away from Nika, I do not trust you

-Elan, please stay away from Suletta, I *definitely* don’t trust you after the last episode

-Suletta recalling Miorine’s words to bolster her courage in the face of public scrutiny was great; Miorine and the members of Earth House are pretty much the only people who warrant Suletta’s trust at this point, so I’m glad to see her taking advice from them

-no but seriously, Miorine was shining this episode and I wasn’t expecting her actions toward the end, which, for better or worse, will be changing the status quo (I’d imagine Lady Prospera is enjoying the irony of this particular change and especially how it came about)

-and finally, I hope a certain revelation Suletta received galvanizes her to start asking her mom some questions; I don’t think it’s unfair at this point to say that Utena Tenjou was one of the inspirations for Suletta, but there are major differences between the characters, and it’d be nice if one of those would be that Suletta displays a greater sense of curiousity than Utena ever did

any big changes Eri's presences causes in the twin au?

Can't say I actually put too much thought into the bigger picture, aside from probably a complete erasure of the revenge plot. Focus probably shifts more towards the friction between Earth/Space and the politicking within the Benerit Group itself (like Shaddiq's scheming). Really any changes are less due to Eri's presence overall and more towards how the universe has to shift around the idea of her being born 4 years later (because I'm not about to do the mental gymnastics of all of Suletta's peers being born 4 years sooner)

My AU assumes a probably less violent takedown of Vanadis, perhaps just a mass arrest where Elnora and Nadim were able to escape and legitimately find work on Mercury, iterating on the Lfrith on their own in secret before their daughters come into the world. Nadim probably does die in a mining accident (the lie told to Suletta) when the girls are 4 and this leads to one or both of the girls trying to use Lfrith to go rescue daddy (because mommy says it's a machine that's supposed to save lives) and end up discovering their natural compatibility with Gundams. Elnora, now "Prospera Mercury", now pours herself into a more benevolent goal of proving the soundness of the GUND Format to the rest of the Sol system. Sending the girls to Asticassia is more to rub it in the Group's nose that "I told you it would work" and the girls get caught up in the greater politics at large.

Optional: Prospera scrounges up the resources to not only refurbish Lfrith into Aerial, but construct a sister unit, the Caliban.

Advice; Where to Make Rules and About Pages

If you've read my advice post about the difference between about and rules pages and why they're both important, you may not be wondering the best way to make them. The good news is, there are plenty of options!

Tumblr

The simplest choice. In the past, people would make custom pages on their theme. However, since dash view has become popular (and you can't view custom pages via it, nor can you view them on mobile), most people simply post their about/rules page as a normal text post, and link to it in their pinned post. If you have a custom theme, make sure to link the pages in the navigation bar too!

Using a plain Tumblr post increases your page's readability, but reduces the amount of formatting you can do. If you make your pages elsewhere, you will be able to customise them a lot more.

Carrd

A free website maker. You can make a small site with a free account, and the prices are pretty reasonable if you need to make a bigger site. Carrd has a minimalist aesthetic, and it will also adjust what you make to fit a mobile browser (though this may break your formatting if you have designed something complicated).

Carrd is easy to use, but it is best used for simple designs. If you want to do something more complicated than a basic Carrd layout, you're going to spend a lot of time trying to make the formatting work. If you want multiple pages for your site, you're also going to spend a lot of time formatting as you can't clone pages, therefore have to recreate each one every time instead.

It uses markdown for formatting text. If you're familiar with it, this can speed up writing, but it may slow you down if you've never used it before.

One of the benefits of Carrd is that there are lots of free templates available within the rpc! Here are resources I found with a quick Google search, but there are plenty more out there if you look for them: [x] [x] [x]

Weebly

Another free website maker. You can make more for free here than you can on Carrd. Weebly sites should adapt to work on a mobile browser.

I've never seen anybody use Weebly for about/rules pages, but I do recommend it! It's very easy to use, and, unlike Carrd, you can copy and paste entire pages. This makes it ideal if you have lots of muses that you want to make individual about pages for.

It uses a more typical text editor than Carrd. Instead of markdown, it's more like Microsoft Word - where you highlight text and click buttons to add formatting. You also have HTML/CSS options.

Weebly does offer some free templates, but you're likely to want to edit them to suit your needs more. This is okay! It isn't difficult to do!

Google Docs

A popular, completely free option. As with Carrd, there are plenty of templates and resources within the rpc (here are three examples: [x] [x] [x]). These pages will be viewable on a mobile browser, but the theme may not translate well. Keep readability in mind if you use this option.

If you use this option, also make sure the link you share is viewer only and doesn't have editor permissions!

Other Options (WordPress, Self-Hosting, etc)

Don't feel you have to follow the crowd. If you like to use WordPress, use WordPress. You could also use Neocities, or any other website builder!

Personally, I already own a web domain because I have websites for other online activities, so I use about pages that I've coded from scratch and host them myself. For my rules page, I just use a Tumblr text post that's linked in my pinned post. In the past, I've used Carrd and Tumblr pages for about pages.

If you want to write your site using HTML, some free website hosters will allow you to do this (Neocities, for example). If you're interested in coding, I do recommend this! It allows you to have full customisability, and coding can be a really useful skill. However, one downside of this is it can make your pages hard to read on a mobile browser. It's up to you to decide how important this is.

If you're interested in learning HTML (as well as CSS, JavaScript, and other coding languages), this site is a great resource!
