this may not be the safest space for this hot take i have on the w*lbur situation, but i had this realization and i think it's a good point (at least based on my experiences)

now to start off, i believe Shelby 100%. i believe she's been in an abusive relationship. and i believe her when she confirmed from W*lbur's apology.

the realization i had was,, i have reformed-people in my life (previously abusive, currently in a better place with their behaviors and coping skills). specifically about 3 people i'm close with, and with almost similar circumstances to what's going on with the w*lbur situation (friend group isolates/shuts out said abusive person until they get their shit together).

i'm in no way a w*lbur defender or apologist. again, i believe that he did commit the abuse that Shelby stated. but i definitely think that it's reasonable to hope that he uses this time to truly learn from his actions and work on himself and his behavior. i can only hope this moment in his life is the beginning of becoming a better person. i definitely think it's better than wishing for and telling someone to die or off themselves.

I do believe he can get better. In no way shape or form will I ever wish ill on someone, not only because of personal experiences, but also because it is not better than what the abuser did. We're basically promoting harming people that have harmed others, which is absolutely not better.

As long as he does show that he shows he is willing to change and get better, he can get better.
