cWilbur should have been worse honestly

Like I feel like he should have ended up a worse villain than Schlatt y’know, not because I like Schlatt bc I also think Schlatt should have been worse but because like.

That’s how it felt like it was. Supposed to go? Like. The story itself felt like Wilbur was supposed to end up being the overarching villain besides Dream. It really felt like that was how it was going to play out. It would have been a really interesting reversal, if the other characters or even just the fandom had kinda noticed that like. It isn’t Wilbur’s self hatred - he really IS the villain in that story.

Because ultimately, Wilbur is more of an impactful villain than Schlatt is, and even though his own self-hatred is a catalyst to his villainous ways, his mental illness and personal despair both worsen him, ultimately someone undergoing those severe stresses still has the wherewithal to make choices of their own accord. The way they’re thinking is warped, and the way they interact with others can be effected, but being mentally ill doesn’t stop you from knowing right from wrong. Wilbur knew other people lived in L’Manberg. He knew that his actions would hurt people, namely Tommy who he cared a lot about. He knew it would be wrong to blow it up - but he didn’t care. And that’s the point that turns him from a sad uwu bean who needs a hug into a villain. He knew he shouldn’t hide his suicidal thoughts from the people who cared about him. He knew he shouldn’t mislead them into thinking they’d won and then betray them. He knew that. He didn’t care. That’s where he becomes the villain in the story, in Tommy’s story.

And… yeah. I think he should have been worse. I think the contrast between him and Schlatt would have been really cool if it was more clear.
