Forgive me for not mentioning the exact source but I've seen a person on TikTok hypothesize that when we feel insecure, we tend to embody the negative traits of the sister sign of the placement in question when we feel lesser than.

Let's use myself as an example. Natally I have asteroid Glo in Libra 1H. According to this, I shine for simply being myself. In times of insecurity, it can be said that may appear self-centered and arrogant (negative aries traits) and perhaps seek external validation through romantic relationships in attempt to remedy this (7H). With this awareness, I can learn to pour more into myself and become more attuned to my needs.

SOLAR RETURN OBSERVATIONS

This year (2023-july 2024), I have Glo in Cancer 11H trine saturn and squaring neptune. I've found myself slowly opening up more and literally crying (cancer) to my friends (11H) and noticing that it does help with the emotional burden, as someone who usually doesn't. Also, I find that those closest to me occasional make remarks about how hard-working I am (saturn) and this in turn has led me to in more into their perspective of me (8H) and lean more into discipline (capricorn) daily routine, diet and healthy regiment (6H). On the other hand, I have been trying to balance my mental sensitivity (neptune) through my formal education alongside more spiritual practices such as tarot, crystals and astrology (9H). As a result, this year has led me to take a more caring and gentle approach (pisces) to my mental health and explore the inner workings of my mind through guides such as tarot and astrology (8H) though I do require more alone time.

As for this upcoming year (july 2024-2025), I'll have Glo in Virgo 12H sextile the moon and venus, as well as trine uranus and opposing chiron (wow). I foresee myself taking a more analytical view (virgo) when it comes to the inner workings of my mind, analyzing my spiritual beliefs, sleeping routine and hidden fears (12H). With this placement sextile moon, I suspect that emotional expression may come with more ease (moon) and that freeing myself from emotional turmoil may lead me to more career opportunities, and a greater reputation (10H). With a venus sextile as well, this placement is indicative of an improved fashion sense and general understanding of what natural suits me through an intuitive and emotional connected approach, nurturing my needs (cancer), in particular when it comes to finding success in career and social standing (10H), which mirrors my exact natal placement. With a uranus trine, embracing my innovative ideas (uranus) will allow me to flourish in matters related to fear as a general concept, conquering it and transform for the greater good as a result, becoming more spiritually attuned to myself perhaps (8H). This success should be approached in a patient, practical way as lasting success is not immediate (taurus). Now, with Glo opposing chiron, this upcoming year may be one where I must actively fight against my limiting beliefs, perhaps even those that others project onto me (chiron). In particular, challenges associated with potential romantic pursuits are at the forefront, if I do not acknowledge my strengths and hide away instead (7H). I must not waver in my faith and tap into the true courageous, leader-like energy that I know I have inside (aries). This last part shouldn't be as daunting seeing as I have Glo square chiron natally, both in cardinal signs.

A/N: not me just randomly hittin ya with a Beyo chapter on a thursday. i've sat on this for a while because i was so nervous it wasn't as good as the others 🫠 i also went to a war museum to do research on stuff related to this fic so i'm excited about the coming chapters, i learned a lot!!

Pairing: ARMIN Arlert x f.reader

Summary: the Lieutenant meets the Nurse in a field hospital. Commotion follows after their fleeting moment of bliss in the broom closet.

Warnings; angst, secret kissing, brief mention of blood/wounds, being caught

Clouds clustered in the sky while military men and nurses started cramming themselves into their trains. Loved ones gave soldiers departing hugs, words, tears, kisses…

Among the buzz, the Lieutenant craned his neck in search for you. His eyes darted around the station.

The train station rung with laughter and sobs. Relatives and darlings gave their impassioned goodbyes; some hopeful, some a garble of sobs. Armin passed an elderly woman who was crying so hard on her nephew’s uniform that he thought her lungs might burst.

He searched the crowd for you, attentive to each uniform and armband. There were nurses gathering in preparation for the next train that would follow the soldier unit’s train, so his search was hasty. And, after a few minutes, proved futile because the train that you presumably boarded was departing.

“Stop craning your neck around, you’ll get an ache for nothing.”  Eren thumped his hand on Armin’s shoulder. So, Armin stopped searching.

Dreamy, longing eyes dragged along the floor as he went with his friends and embarked on the soldier unit’s train. He and Eren took seats with the others in the compartment where the Commander sat with Levi and Hange.

“You said last night,” Armin began on a distracted note. “That the farewell party was probably the last time I’d see her and be able to smile.”

“I did say that... I’m sorry, is that depressing to think about?”

Armin half-heartedly chuckled, “No. I’m an optimistic person. Anyways, personally, I believe – whether this sounds implausible to you or not – that I’ll see her again and still be able to smile.”

His friend looked down at the wooden table that divided their seats. The compartment was quite large, but the overwhelming presence of Levi’s squad made it seem smaller than it actually was.

“You really are optimistic.” Eren said after thinking for a while.

Armin stared out the window and watched the passing trees blur into countryside, then blur into other landscapes, until they reached the port. There, they disembarked the train, and embarked on the ship. Through it all, Armin searched and searched, never giving up, until he caught a glimpse of the back of you as you boarded the other ship. Much too far to communicate, Armin settled for admiring you for possibly the last time. He wished you would have turned around.

His shirt was stained crimson.

Bloodied hands were holding up his struggling comrade as he carried him to the field hospital. The night felt eerie and strange, or maybe those feelings were owed to the battle that he had just narrowly escaped. Their side wasn’t doing well.

Who knows what had happened – Armin never talked about anything like that night to someone as gentle-minded as you. When he saw you scurrying around cots filled with wounded soldiers, his heart battered around in his ribcage. He was so startled and happy to see you that his grip on his comrade slacked; a weak groan of pain brought Armin’s attention back to the poor man.

Bringing his comrade to a cot and laying him down, Armin signalled for you. At first, it felt like you were seeing a figment of your imagination. Neither of you had the opportunity to talk with the noise and severeness that filled the patient ward.

But body language was more than enough. Eye contact. Shaking hands. Stolen glances. You were so excited to see him again that you spilled some iodine. It felt as if you had forgotten how to do anything when he appeared.

You don’t remember why, but for some reason it was very difficult to nurse his comrade. A distracting nausea overcame you.

After clearing away medical instruments, you went to the opposite end of the ward to the door, where Armin was standing waiting by an empty cot. The night had calmed down, all the patients had been treated and most had fallen into an uneasy sleep.

“Lieutenant.” You called his name excitedly, wiping your clammy palms on your grey uniform.

Armin raised a finger to his lips and nodded for you and him to sneak off somewhere less risky, where you had no chance of being caught by your father who he had already spotted lurking around the patients every now and then.

You snuck off to the broom closet with the Lieutenant. Yes, a tiny, cramped broom closet that smelled lightly of medicine and gunpowder.

“I’m so sorry. This isn’t exactly a romantic place for me to whisk you away to.” Armin apologized sincerely.

You looked at him dreamily. To be back in his presence and hear his voice was so fulfilling that you were unfazed by the unflattering environment.

“Don’t apologize, Lieutenant. As long as it’s with you, I don’t mind where I’m whisked away to.” You replied honestly. That put a sheepish smile on his face.

A smile is a rare thing to see on a soldier’s face in the field hospital. Yours was a serene and patient one, as Armin described it decades later in his memoirs as “A smile capable of bringing comfort to a dying soldier. One incomprehensibly soothing.”

In the broom closet, you and him shared secret intimacies, until there was a commotion outside that tore you two apart. Armin’s breath staggered on your lips, his hands clutching yours against his chest.

“I guess we’ll have to resume when we meet again.”

“I guess.” You smiled at him dreamily.

The two of you emerged from the broom closet. A sullen face shocked you and Armin out of your bodies.

“Father…” you choked, and began blabbering excuses and apologies. He looked as if his gut was wrenched. You trembled and choked “I’m so sorry… father! I’m so sorry!” over and over.

Your father only looked at you with a disappointed, resigned expression. It hurt your heart.

“Sir.” Armin gulped nervously.

When your father finally spoke, his words marred you more deeply than if he would have shouted like before when he caught you and Armin together.

“I thought it was awful when you stole my daughter away at the farewell party when you saw me approaching the two of you, Lieutenant Arlert.” He paused, completing that expression to Armin and then directing himself at you. “All I have to say… is that I’m sad that you betrayed your promises to me. All I wanted was for you to protect your sensitive heart; a girl like you shouldn’t have to deal with something as difficult as loving a soldier.”

He promptly told Captain Levi. You were summoned to the Commander’s office. Though you could understand that punishment was inevitable, you couldn’t wrap your head around exactly why you were seeing the Commander; surely he was busy panicking in the heat of this hazy commotion. There had been an enemy sighting. And since forces were weakened, everyone got flustered about it. Especially considering it was a moonless night.

You remember watching Armin as he saluted his superiors. It was an automatic, immediate salute; was it attractive because he was a soldier, or because he was the man you loved? Perhaps both.

Erwin’s rumbling voice punctured the silence.

“You are a good nurse. I want you to accompany Levi, keep at his side.” He commanded you.

A confused relief crossed your chest. “Sir, I’m confused. Wasn’t I called to be reprimanded?”

He almost laughed. “I can’t reprimand an innocent young lady such as yourself. The fault lies with Armin.” He said severely, but then broke character and joked to lighten to heavy mood. “A hundred push-ups. And preferably next time don’t take pretty ladies to broom closets to kiss.”

Armin flushed so bright red that you thought then, if you would compare him to a red poppy flower from outside, that it would seem less red than him. His blush boyishly spread down to his jawline.

“Yes, sir.”

When you learned that Armin was going to head out in separate directions, you had a breakdown and wouldn’t let go of him. You sobbed loudly, causing a great scene. Armin pulled you to the side to console you, begging his glaring Captain for just a few minutes alone with you.

He managed to soothe you with his words. “We’ll meet again.” He said over and over. He talked about things the two of you would do when the war was over and you returned home for good.

You bore a serious, tear-streaked face up to him. Your eyes were red, nose sniffly.

His departing proclamation was;

“My heart is devoted to you.”

Quiet, mysterious and always looking like he would rather be somewhere else, Kalle is Azul's loyal yes-man. He spends most of the time on the sidelines, carefully observing people around him and gathering information. He acts as Azul's eyes and follows his every order, gossip says.

Like the rest of the Octavinelle trio, Kalle is a merperson and actually went to the same middle school as them, though they never interacted much. To be fair, Kalle had never interacted much with anyone. As the middle child out of a gaggle of loud kids, he grew up either being forgotten and left behind, getting compared to their more accomplished younger siblings or being mocked by their older siblings' friends. They quick learned that the best way to survive is to fade into the background and let people more powerful than them cover their back.

At Night Raven College, when the word about Azul's wish-granting abilities spread out, Kalle came to him, offering his services in exchange for a safe and secure place in the school metaphorical food chain.

Just as smart and cunning as Azul and the twins, he follows Azul's orders blindly. Determined, methodical and good at planning. While he usually doesn't speak much, when he does, it's usually something sarcastic. He tends to say he has a low stupidity tolerance.

While they're good at keeping his cool and seeming indifferent to most things, inside they're a deeply emotional person who learned how to hide almost everything about themselves, including their opinions and interests.

Their signature spell is called Seaglass. It allows them to see through another person's eyes for up to 30 seconds at a time without the person knowing.

RELATIONSHIPS

Azul Ashengrotto — here's the thing, you see. Yes, Kalle admires his inteligence and magic powers and will do basically anything he says without hesitation. Does he actually like Azul as a person, though? Well. Sometimes, during the times when Kalle tries to not feel jealous of his magic or his place in the school's society. He tries to not think about Azul as a friend, though, trying to keep their relationship strictly business-like. (They're so friends.)

Floyd Leech — oh, boy. Their first meeting, still back in middle school, ended in a bit of a disaster, with Kalle losing his patience for once and yelling at Floyd. That made Flody think that maybe Kalle is somebody like Riddle — somebody easy to anger. Somebody fun. Unfortunately for Kalle, the fact that he actually has a great control of his emotion and rarely loses his cool only made Floyd more persistent. He wanted to push Kalle's buttons, see what exactly it is that sets him off, tests the limits of his patience. And well. It would be easier for Kalle if they could simply dislike Floyd. See him as simply lazy and chaotic and stupid, instead of noticing his intelligence and the ability to see through people and feeling drawn to his antics. They often argue, though it had long lost any fire and now sounds more like friendly bickering and if they sometimes make out in the hallways— that's Kalle's bussines, alright.

Jade Leech — probably the only person from the Octavinelle trio that Kalle has a simple, straightforward relationship with. They're friends, in their own weird way. Neither of them has the need to pry into the other's affairs but they feel comfortable in eachother's presence and Kalle shares Jade's interest in different land flora.

Kalim Al-Asim — easily one of Kalle's most disliked people at school. He doesn't know what it is about Kalim that wears his patience so thin so quickly and he doesn't want to find out, preferring to stay as away from the boy as possible.

Jamil Viper — in another universe, those two maybe could be friends. Sadly, for now Kalle spends most of the time observing Jamil with suspicion, not trusting anything he does. They're also — most importantly, very embarrassingly — just a bit jealous of the way Azul tried to befriend Jamil. But that's a secret.

Rook Hunt — if Kalle could ask a genie for one wish, it would be for Rook Hunt to finally shut up. Sadly, there's no genies nearby and so Kalle has to suffer through every Science Club meeting. Even more tragic, Rook seems to know a lot about about a lot of different things Kalle finds interesting and so they make the same mistake everytime, agreeing to help Rook with a club project only to regret it after, when he has to listen to the boy talk about sunsets or Vil’s eyes for two hours.

Trey Clover — he's not sure if he and Trey are friends, but Kalle likes him. He's usually the most sane person around, which feels like a breath of fresh air after being in the same dorm as the Leeches. While they dont necessarily hang out, they sometimes spend time in the library together and being the upperclassman, Trey helps Kalle with homework from time to time.

Misinterpreting his divine fascination as a desire to harm her, she actively avoided him, ensuring she was never alone with the god of the sea.

Her fear, fueled by tales of divine wrath and relentless power, drove her to keep a safe distance.

Unphased by her avoidance, Poseidon saw it as a challenge. Determined to unravel the mystery behind Kianna's reluctance, he took every chance he could to approach her.

Poseidon sought her out often during breaks, offering gifts of seashells, jewellery that glowed with ethereal beauty and sharing moments of respite in the quieter corners of the war-torn landscape.

"T-They're all beautiful, Lord Poseidon.."

Kianna found herself speechless as she admired the gifts she had been handed.

"It's also a token that you can trust me, Kianna. I'm not as cruel as people make me out to be."

"Hm.. How can I be so certain?"

"I- well..it's coming for me personally..!"

Each attempt to win her trust became a delicate yet frustrating dance between the two beings.

Poseidon, not accustomed to the vulnerability that came with affection, found himself increasingly invested in breaking down Kianna's walls.

One day he decided to take her to places untouched by the raging conflict, a place more luxurious and revealing the beauty of the halls only accessible for the gods.

The air was filled with tension as Poseidon with his piercing blue eyes locked onto Kianna's yellow shining ones for a moment.

They were just watching the fight in silence and unbeknownst to him.

Kianna's heart stirred with unfamiliar emotions as well.

"Kianna, is it not a marvel to witness the clash of gods and men?"

Kianna glanced around nervously, breaking the eye contact they had.

She wasn't used to these surroundings, afraid the other gods might see her.

"Uh, yeah, sure..It's something."

Poseidon, sensing her unease, softened his demeanour.

"Don't be afraid Kianna, no one will harm you for being here. You're safe!"

Kianna looks over at Poseidon slowly, keeping her composer.

She couldn't help but feel herself warm up whenever those blue piercing eyes stared right through her soul.

"Really? How are you so sure.."

"No one can as long as I am here. After all, you're my guest. In fact, I find myself quite drawn to your unique spirit.."

Kianna, keeping her distance, eyed him sceptically, her cheeks were finally giving away her true feelings.

"Drawn to me? You, a god? What's the catch?"

Poseidon starts smirking slightly as he notices her changing appearance.

"No catch, my dear. Just a god who appreciates the beauty found in unexpected places."

Despite his attempts at charm, Kianna remained wary.

"Look, Poseidon, I appreciate everything.. The gifts and being your guest and all!"

"Oh..?"

"But you're not exactly known for being warm and fuzzy.."

Poseidon, taken aback her mind when it came to this still hadn't changes, tried to explain himself

"Well, this is going to sound cheesy but you're the one who makes me the opposite of that..Kianna"

"H-Huh..what do you mean?!"

"I am not as cold as the sea may appear. Give me a chance to prove it to you.."

Kianna, truly convinced, wanted to let him, she wanted to let him prove it but continued evading him.

"I'll pass on that..I'd rather not end up as fish food or something when I have a life to focus on.."

Poseidon, undeterred, persisted in pursuing her. He couldn't give up when they had gotten so far!

"Kianna, I assure you, I harbour no ill intentions towards you. Not to anyone!"

Kianna, still unsure, shot him a loving glance, finally giving in to her hidden feelings. Smiling nervously to herself.

Kianna sighs, trying to cover up her face with her hand as she looks over at him.

"I don't know, but I'll give you a chance my Lord, I suppose you deserve it after everything hehe!"

Secret Admirer

Wei Wuxian peeked his head out of the water and smiled at the man lounging in his boat, sound asleep. Lan Wangji had his ship pushed onto the shore so he could get a proper night of rest and not have to worry about going the wrong way or getting caught in a storm, and right now he was using a pretty old tattered cloth as a blanket so he didn’t get too chilled.

Wei Wuxian’s tail split into two as he pulled himself ashore, grimacing slightly as he got used to the change and felt his body finish adjusting. When he finally got onto his awkward feet, he smiled and tiptoed about the sand, leaving all sorts of things close to shore- but not so far that it’d be suspicious. 

Once the shores had been littered with seashells and trinkets, he carefully took hold of the starboard side, closest to the man, and pulled himself over the edge just enough so that he could see the other. 

He smiled and reached out a hand, sand quietly spilling from his palm to make a bed for the jewelry he’d made so they wouldn’t make a sharp sound as he placed them on the board.

The earrings he left were made with mother of pearl and small pearls he had collected himself over the years, whether through tears or along the seafloor. He had made himself a pair to match, which he proudly wore now as he snuck his gifts onto the other’s ship.

He gently left a little kiss on his forehead. “Goodnight, my little traveler.”

He laughed silently as the other made a noise in his sleep, warmth dusting his cheeks. “Maybe one day I'll see you again.”

Way down deep below the chaos of the crashing waves, down on the ocean floor where all is quiet and still. There in the darkness we grew as we slept for years locked tight inside our rocky little homes. Not a soul in the world knew that we were even there. It was the very secret of our unknown existence that made us precious and that beauty died the moment we were discovered and our shells finally and brutally prised open. We were sold into slavery to be shackled along a golden chain and end up draped around your pale and slender neck. To be admired by the entire town.

Our misery was now complete and even though we were now resigned to our new life of agonising daily public scrutiny. There was still one surprise more to come! Of all the people in the world it was you alone who felt our unhappiness at being constantly observed. You took your sharp little knife and cut the same square shape, page after page and then you unclasped us for the very last time and placed us gently inside our new home and closed the book and climbed up the tallest ladder and placed it on the highest shelf in the library. And in the beautiful dark we fell asleep and forgot anything had ever happened.
