i never get why people think critique always comes from Being Mad At Things. sometimes i will just critique for fun and people always seem to presume an emotional angle - generally there isn't one! i'm just talking about the things i find questionable or dislike in a work because that's a fun and enjoyable part of media analysis

every time I talk about how dnd is kind of a shit system with people I get someone saying "oh but my group has fun with it" Yeah. Because roleplay is fun. It's still a bad system for so many reasons. people also so often take my critique of dnd as me hating the people who play it and that I want to send them to the gulag or whatever. the most that succeeds in doing is making me want to put them in the gulag

thinking about how funny of an insult "tankie" is. like it really does not mean anything further than "communist/socialist" and if you're getting mad at The Existence Of Socialists you are a deeply unserious political commentator . like nine times out of ten people who use tankie unironically are just telling on themselves

now listen I have to be honest when it comes to reading about Marxism I am veeeery new on the scene. Like I've been working my way through the basic stuff but because before I got into Marxism I hadn't read for pleasure in like 2 years I've been very slow about it . so any reading lists I gave would just be, like, Capital and The State And Revolution and maybe Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung. I could go screenshot all the epubs I have on my phone but I'll be honest I've not touched those in a hot minute

I occasionally watch Innuendo Studios' "The Alt-Right Playbook" on YouTube, it's fun & informative and probably useful, but like..oh my god. Why is he seemingly so dedicated to arguing with people who clearly will never change positions? I genuinely don't understand the fascination he and his comment section have with engaging the troll, the rightoid on twitter. It doesn't make either of you happy & all it does is prove to the people that already like you that you're Cool and Awesome. No prick posting on Twitter wants to have a fucking reasoned debate, they're on Twitter because they think it's a laugh. Like, yeah, a lot of the things he talks about are applicable to the IRL right too, and have broad reaching political implications (in the imperial core), but so many of his videos go on spiels about having these arguments over Facebook or fucking Twitter. I just don't understand the impulse to try to reason with someone posting unreasonable and unserious bullshit.

have to say, being a trans woman on tumblr is not very fun right now. people I look up to, who's posts I enjoy regularly, are being pedojacketed over nothing. transmisogyny is rampant as ever, and i can't even trust when people rb posts about how they love trans women anymore because I see so many people get stabbed in the back. i barely post anything here because I worry if I make a slip-up, even one mistake, or even criticise a thing somebody likes, I'll get called a pedo *again*, get put on blocklists and be demeaned and depersoned. it's horrible

havin a real moment about how aggressive I am to people in my head. like I don't mean it at all I'm just chilling reading the posts & for some reason I'll go "go fuck yourself you should die . kill yourself now" towards the person. like it just happens. not a big fan of that! I know logically this isn't the case but it makes me feel like a Rather Bad Person

some days it's really hard to stop myself from falling into the Nihilism Cycle I once found myself in; you think "well shit. world's unsalvageable. what's the point then" and it's all downhill from there. you start considering nothing having meaning as a coping mechanism, and from there on you sort of just stop doing things because it'll mean piss all in the end. it's a very bad headspace to be in, but shockingly the most effective strategy I've found to combat it is being politically conscious . understanding that I and my comrades are capable of changing things as they are with our actions and words pushes me out of this spiral. wonderful thing that is
