I also did some spinning!
This green batt had been lying around since.. idk 1 or 2 years, but I splurged on a second cross spindle and NEEDED to spin something and this was the first thing the fell into my hands!
With this I also figured out a way to chainply on the fly - and it made me finish these 4 wonderful turtles in a record time (mappsie record time, but still xD)
The batt's fiber content is:
60% Merino
20% Shetland
20% Tencel
Then I started with these pretties I bought secondhand from Kleinanzeigen.de
200g total!
1 turtle done.
Again with chainply-on-the-fly because it's working well for me, my hands and wrist, and brain.
I've been also chipping away on the black merino with red silk which took forever, but I finished spinning all its fluff into a single which is now waiting to be plied.
Also, I spun more of this stuff which I'm pretty sure there's still some fluff left. Ah well, langsam nährt sich das Eichhörnchen, as the German saying goes.
Also also I've plied another turtle full of white alpaca and Paz coloured merino/silk mix.
And then!
Well then my spinning streak was interrupted by some
✨ nålbinding ✨
It FINALLY clicked for me, after 5 years of on/off trying! I'll show that in the next post (whenever I'll get to make it lol)

TdF roundup
@a-tour-de-fleece I'm a bit late, but here's what I managed to spin up during this years Tour de Fleece:
To the very left is the first quarter of the Malabrigo Nube Persia that the amazing @bronzeagecrafts gifted to me 💙💙💙. Chainplied, still waiting to be soaked.
Here's a closup:
Then there is the Mondschaf Fluff, that I merely plied when TdF started. Also chainplied, waiting to be soaked. Here's a closeup:
To the right on the first pic is my faithful low whorl spindle with the second quarter of the Malabrigo.
I did not spin every day as planned. Mainly because I caught the crochet bug from enabling encouragement by the wonderful @nichtsneu 💙💙💙 and continued on a project that had been waiting for me since I started it in 2020, and there's maybe one more row left after the one I'm currently working on, maybe 2 max. So that's worth a "YAY!" in my book nevertheless. Whatever Bug calls you, you follow, that's how crafting works, right? xD
What's not so "yay" is that something is up in my shoulder, and I'm gonna have an mri scan in August, hoping they'll find what's going on and then we can hopefully deal with that. I'm suspecting that spinning too high might have its part in the issue? So I'll try to be more careful and not go over my head with the fluff holding hand.
Overall and all things considered I'm happy and proud with what I made even though it doesn't seem that much, and I thank everybody who spun along for the virtual companionship and pretty progress pics ^_^

TdF Day 3!
I wound the plied Mondschaf fluff on my niddynoddy:
and prepped and started spinning the stunning Malabrigo Nube Persia that was a gift from the lovely @bronzeagelove (i had to do some brain acrobatics bc my birthday is next week, so actually I wasn't allowed to unpack this but... like.... it's tdf... and only a week? i can spin a little malabrigo, as a treat, right?)
This is a challenge, though. It's super dense - I've never had such a dense fluff in my hands! - and it needs a lot of wiggling and dizzing and I still need to experiment with the prepping because rn it's still a little bitch that's evades being spun evenly. But maybe that's what it wants to be, so... we'll see.
I am, however, in love with the colours!! There's so many shades of blue and black in there, like... just ugh I love it!!! I wanna bathe in it xD
💙💙💙
So yeah, that's today's roundup ^_^

I have finished spinning the first third of the Mondschaf fluff, ca. 40g! The plan is now to chainply it which might prove a little difficult because it's so thin... We'll see, I guess.

I'm very low-key participating in the Tour de Fleece with my goals being
to spin a little whenever I can so it doesn't need to be every day
to spin what brings me joy in the moment, so i'm not "locked" into a specific project
So far, I can report the following:
I finished a single turtle with more of "Mondschaf" fluff.
It's gonna be chainplied when my plying spindle has been freed from its current entanglement of:
chainplied Zwartbless (my beloved 💕)
I also started a plying turtle with my Super Hightech plying contraption:
The blue yellow thing is spun from what i call the Paz Fluff. The white is Alpaca from my hometown which i spun on my little Nano 2. I have more hometown-grown fluff in brown and black, so I might go for a little sorta gradient here, we'll see ^_^
I wanna knit (!) a Paz Hug Shawl bc if I can't hug fictional people I can at least make something with their main colours and wrap myself up in it xD
This is a very longterm project. I expect it to be done in 3-4 years or so. The alpaca fluff might be carded but there's a lot of VM in there, so it needs more prepping time. Then spinning up like 400g each of Paz Fluff and Alpaca Fluff. Then plying. Then knitting. And all at my slow pace.
So, yeah, 3-4 years seem appropriate xD
I also have this one with merino and silk in the backburner which I might take with me on my oncoming journeys, though it seems to be prone to felt quite a bit.
Yeah..
So, Hiiiii fellow TdF participants 👋😊

Stash Inventory!
These are the two I'm working on atm.
Left pic with green and purple'y and black and blue is what I dubbed the "Hildra Fluff" bc the colours reminded me of my OC Hildra (incidentally the colours of her bff Cuyan are also in there so that's very lovely. xD)
It was handdyed by Elfenwolle.
Right pic: The Nube, colourway Persia, generously gifted to me by @bronzeagelove. I cannot express how much i love all the different blues in there. it's perfect.
There's more under the cut:
Then we have the "Mondschaf Fluff", which I utterly adore as well. This is also a wip, but I haven't worked on it since July.
Due to my wrist issues I started spinning up only like 25-30 on a spindle before plying.
Then there's these two lovely batts.
Left, the one with green and brown and beige, is I think the newes addition (still a few weeks ago). Have done anything with it yet. I dubbed it the "Forest Batts".
Right pic is the remaining second half of the "Sunset Batts". I started knitting a cowl with the first half that's been spun and plied sometime at the beginning middle of this year.
There's also the orange-brown-red-firey "Earth Fire" by Wollinchen. First half was amongst the first things i spun. Getting a similar thick thickness will be a challenge, I reckon. We'll see.
I also have these undyed lovelies:
Left: Llama with with unknown amount of Polyacryl blended in
Middle: Eiderwolle, by Wollinchen. I wanna use it for dye testing.
Right: Brillenschaf. I am so not sure what to do with this. it is shedding so much while spinning and it's very.... uh... "not-sproingy"? o_O i don't know. I was curious how it spins and now I know and I still have to find a purpose for it.
Left: Big Green Thing. A Hulk of a combed top. it was one of the first things I bought and spun up when i started spinning. Meanwhile I've found that it's probably more suitable for felting. The yarn it makes is quite scratchy. I don't mind a little scratch from my wool things, in fact I enjoy a little scratch (mostly, not all the time), but this is too much scratch even for me.
I've already spun up 100 g and I've been using it as gift ribbon. Not sure what to do with the rest bc there's many other fibers I'd rather touch and spin.
Right pic is bits and pieces, mostly merino, I reckon. Bought as surprise bags to have "Practice Fibers" at hand for the kids and for me trying to make some rolags with my handcarders, you know, just to play around with colours and stuff ^_^
Not pictured:
There has to be a box of brown alpaca somewhere... I though it's in the bedroom but I couldn't find it when taking inventory.
There should also be a box with fibers that came for free with a spindle and that i did not like at the time. They had a weird diarrhea brown colour, were full of VM and lanolin and needed more preparation than i was willing to give at the time. I'd give them a new try, with new eyes and more experience, if i found them, that is.
Also not pictured: a bunch of samples that I forgot to take pictures of.
So that's my Spinning Stash ^_^

Tour de Fleece Plans
@a-tour-de-fleece Here's my "plans" for the TdF ^_^
1. Spin a bit every day, but don't guiltspiral if that doesn't work out.
2. Finish what's on my spindle now (the Mondschaf fluff) - but don't guiltspiral if that doesn't work out.
3. Spin in public on a bench. Maybe I'll make a little poster to lure people in xD Maybe I'll take some extra spindles and fluff in case that somebody wants to give it a try - but don't guiltspiral if that doesn't work out!
Mainly I wanna go with the flow and see what comes up and have fun and ogle the pretty progess pics of everyone else☺️
