... and here is the second one! not going to lie, this piece went through many iterations - at first i wanted to do a more aerial look, with the tall statue and the tiny tiny humans barely visible, but then decided that having the girls be visible would do it better and now here we are. the oracle and the knight

i was working on my gil-galad design for the drawing i plan to draw for @officialtolkiensecretsanta and i was really happy how he came out!

i always imagined gil with dark hair, no matter what his parentage is, so working with gil-galad son of orodreth was very fun for me. i picked to draw him with the classical noldorin dark hair of his grandmother eldalote (mother of orodreth) and the dark brown of his sindarin mother, but with the “house of finarfin” golden locks still showing through. the vanyarin genes are very strong in the line of finwe, it seems!

i cannot wait for the exchange to commence and i hope my giftee is enjoying this as much as i am!

my second drawing for the @officialtolkiensecretsanta just mere hours before the clock turns to the 24th, starring: star boys elladan and elrohir

elladan is definitely the more chill out of the two, very calm and suave but an awful flirt, always smiling and winking and wooing any elf or man in sight. elrohir is more hot-headed, more impulsive and also definitely the more show-off one! he was very bookish when he was younger, a lot like their dad, but did his darn best to grow out of it. he tries his best to drag his brother out of the problem his many conquests cause

elladan is the better swordsman and elrohir is the better archer. (arwen, not pictured here, is best rider in the whole of imladris.) the two brothers get up to a lot of wild shenanigans together!

i really hope my giftee likes them and i cant wait for the reveal!

from the moment i saw the characters you had listed, i knew i had to do a portray of the royal family of nargothrond! so here we have it - orodreth with his wife and children, all beautiful and shiny! im had so much fun drawing it and i hope you like them as much as i do!

courage, power, wisdom

i cant believe i finally got to posting this but!!! 

i’ve been working on a legend of zelda au for almost this whole month and im extremely excited to introduce it to the world. featuring:

natsu dragneel as the accidental farm kid turned hero (link);

levy mcgarden as the unfortunate princess with too many responsibilities (zelda)

and gajeel redfox as the gerudo prince with anger issues and literal demons to fight (ganondorf)

there is a lot more to come of that au and i have so many things to draw and write and just!!! pls send me an ask if you’re interested 

also, in general: whose idea was to give a magical weapon of mass destruction to a bunch of children???? wtf triforce???????????

already past the halfway point, we come to some of the most important ladies in the legendarium - finwe’s three law-daughters and the wives of his three sons - nerdanel istarnie, anaire and earwen of alqualonde 

this piece took by far the most time of all i’ve drawn thus far (the hair) yet i enjoyed it immensely. i want to dedicate it to @avantegarda, who is by far the most nerdanel-like person our fandom has graced us with - she’s an amazing writer and overall a hilarious person, and i simply love reblogging memes from her blog. the second person i want to dedicate it to is @actuallyfeanor, who was one of the first ever silmarillion blogs i followed and whose sense of humor i simply adore. (c r a b l o r)

nerdanel the wise is the wife of feanor and mother of his seven children, as we all know. she is no less of an artist than her husband and we all know she must have been a saint to be able to stand all seven little menaces. she did not support feanor in his petty actions towards his family and neither followed him to middle-earth, but deeply grieved for both him and their children. 

anaire is the wife of one high king and mother of two - although she never bore the title of queen, one can’t deny she looked and acted the part. when her husband nolofinwe followed feanor, she stayed behind, but did not prevent her children from taking the same path although it grieved her to watch them go and know she might as well lose them. 

earwen, high queen of the noldor and princess of the falmari of alqualonde, is the wife of the youngest of finwe’s children arafinwe, and mother of finrod felagund, angrod, aegnor and galadriel. she stayed behind in aman. she’s known as the swan maiden of alqualonde and her kind words were what healed the rift between her people and her husband’s people in the aftermath of the first kinslaying.

nerdanel still lives in the house she and feanor built many years ago and although the silence of it saddens her, she’s patient and knows that, one day, everything is going to be alright. by the very end of the third age, she shares her home with her only son left - maglor, who traveled westwards on the white ship of the ringbearers. she often visits her law-mother miriel in lorien or indis in valmar, her own family’s workshops in the outskirts of tirion, as well as the royal palace of tirion, where she is the most renowned artist and close advisor of high king arafinwe

anaire rules over the noldor with her law-brother and even though she bears no crown, everyone treats her as one would treat a queen. she is more stern than arafinwe and either of her law-sisters, but she is also just. she lives in the palace of tirion with arafinwe and earwen and although she often visits fingolfin and their children in tol erresea, she shares a closer and more loving relationship with earwen - although her love for fingolfin is no less strong, the rift between them after the flight of the noldor has never healed. 

earwen is a favorite of the people of tirion, known for her kindness and her charity. with her law-sister findis, firstborn daughter of finwe, she often holds court in the streets of tirion like high queen indis once used to, and listens to the hardships of their people so she can later share them with arafinwe and anaire. her heart is big and she has enough place for them both. her love is great and strong and she shines brighter with it. she’s a great diplomat and works hard to strengthen the bonds tirion has with alqualonde and valmar both, and her people deeply love her for it.

the fourth day gave me a lot more freedom which characters do decide to draw - finwe’s line has some amazing and spectacular female characters! eventually, i decided to go with idril celebrindal, celebrian and my favorite shiny golden princess, finduilas faelivrin!

this piece i dedicate to @idahlrillion, the artist who truly dragged me into the tolkien fandom and who inspired me to draw what i love (the scars on cel’s face are also inspired by her design!), and to the amazing and awesome @princess-faelivrin, who is just so talented and by far my favorite tolkien artist! (I ALSO LOVE FINNY GALAD)

this particular scene i imagine to be the time of the white ship’s arrival in valinor. she officially lives with her favorite uncle finrod in tirion, but prefers spending time on tol erresea. celebrian spend about five centuries on valinor and im sure, between healing in lorien and serving nienna, she made friends with her cousins - the one she never truly got to meet and the one she’d know since her birth but never truly realized it

idril lives on tol erresea with her husband, tuor, and is seen as a beacon of hope for her people, being the first one to return (mostly) safe and sound from the far east. (and. being the mother. and then grandmother. of some of the greatest heroes in middle-earth.) idril greatly enjoys the sea after being coffined to gondolin for years and often sails around the bay of eldamar with tuor and visits her law-daughter elwing in her tower.

finduilas, also known as gil-galad, lives in tol eressea as well, co-ruling with her great-granduncle fingolfin. (FIN-GALAD FOR THE WIN!!!) finny is now happily engaged to her beloved gwindor and on the way to be married to him, and greatly appreciating finally being able to have some GODDAMN PEACE!!! (shes also extremely excited to see wee elrond again)

idril and finduilas are here supporting dear celebrian as she welcomes her mother and husband to valinor. i had amazing fun drawing this!

pan-princess-levy’s (that’s me!) 2019 summary of art

wow! what an year this was! time for retrospection...

holy hell, i drew... a lot of stuff. i dont think there are quite the 500 files (both process and finished) for 2019 but i think i drew maybe. 250? 300 separate pieces? and im so proud of myself!

lets just ignore the fact only half of my summary pieces are published ones and the other half are just favorites from my un-published work hahahAHAHHA

(as you can probably guess, the months where the drawings are the most sketchy - february, april and november - didnt really have that much artwork im proud of. i have an excuse for novermber, because i was writing for nanowrimo, but i have no memory of the other two. rip me.)

so! a word for every piece!

january: a sketch of cana im still awfully proud of! i used a poster of luke evans as bard the bowman from the hobbit trilogy as a base and im just! still shook

february: part 3 (summer) of my seasons levy drawings alas i never got to autumn it’s connected to one of my countless aus, where she is a forest guardian spirit 

march: this piece of gajeel! (but with a the agender pride flag because i got up to editing it later) im still so fond of how it came out! i used it for discord icon for a while back then

april: a clothing/jewelry study i was doing! it is kind of connected to another au i shall never write. (yes. there are. a lot of them.)

may: the famous mermay piece! it was drawn for the first weekly challenge organized on the @gajevyevents discord server and i still think its one of best pieces. very proud of it

june: this amazing levy piece for pride month! i did a lot of drawings for pride as part of a project by @ft-wwtdp but this one is closer to my heart. shes a flower gorl,,,,

july: okay. this one? this one is one my favorite drawing i’ve ever done. it’s my phone wallpaper. it might? look silly and crappy compared to the rest? but it’s my favorite and i love it so much! it’s a silly pokemon au inspired by the pokemon 2014 masters division spectacular pachirisu. IM A NERD OKAY (theyre just. so soft.)

august: ALRIGHT! THIS! THIS ONE! this one is so dear to my heart because its a redraw of one ancient drawing of mine. back in the day i had a voltron au and this is levy’s design for that au but just. this drawing makes me go all soft.

september: this piece i did for @finweanladiesweek! it was the first silm fandom event i took part in and it still fills me with warmth. i had so much fun drawing it - september was when i caved in and finally bought clip studio paint and you can clearly see the difference in quality from there

october: my profile picture! god this one was so much fun, i will never forget it. i thought a lot about this one, whether i wanted to put it or the gajeel day piece i did, but in the end i found i liked this a little bit better. 

november: alright, no lies here, i have only like 4 or 5 drawing from november because i was so busy with nanowrimo! this one is a gajeel design study. i struggled a lot between it and another similar piece (gajeel in full profile instead of 3/4) but at last decided on this one. its,,,, soft,,, he soft,,,

december: THIS BAD BOY! i poured hours upon hours of research on this one, it can fit so many artist crying fits. i still think its one of the best ive done, and its so shiny and bright.....

i dont think im supposed to reminisce so hard but it’s the end of the year and im just. im having a lot of feels, you know? i grew up a lot as person, both creative and personal-wise, a lot of things happened. im very happy with all the progress ive done and i cannot wait for what awaits me next year. 

i hope 2019 was good to you and i wish you a happier and merrier 2020!
