Another funnier option would be that neither of them found out until after Elros’ marriage when some confusion arose between Elros and his Wife. Elros then frantically writes to Elrond to ask him what sex is and how it works. Elrond, who has no idea what Elros is talking about, brings this up to Gil Galad, Galadriel and Celebrimbor after a council meeting at which point all three remember, with no small amount of panic, what they forgot to discuss with the twins. This results in one of Gondor’s archives/museums having a stack of letters adressed to Elros Tar Minyatur sent by several famous historical elves. Unfortunately due to the age of the letters and the fact they were written in ancient elvish no one can read them but its is assumed they were important diplomatic messages. If they could read them, the scholars of Gondor might be a little suprised and confused why the adult King of Numenor had received multiple, quite lengthy letters detailing how sex works.

I love the idea of Gil-Galad just being A Guy while Elrond and Celebrimbor are insane, actually.

The Chemical™️: *eats through the jar, eats through Gil-Galad’s desk, sizzling as it tries to eat through the stone flooring*

Gil-Galad, seeing an Opportunity: can you move the jar a little to the left? That’s where the complaints from Lord Oropher are stacked.

Love the idea of Gil being a regular dude while his alleged cousins are the resident eldritch horror and the mad scientist next door.

Nolofinwë Week Day Five: Gil-Galad, Elros, and Elrond

This is maybe more headcannon? I don't think Tolkien ever nailed down the age Elrond and Elros were when Maglor and Mahdhros left/released them, but I always felt like they were still fairly young. I see a lot of interpretations of their complicated relationship with their captors, but not very much about their relationship with their rescuers.

Elrond at the very least seems like he must have been close to Gil-Galad. He was his herald, he led his armies, Gil-Galad left one of the three Elven Rings to him before his death.

I'm sure they missed their parents and Maedhros and Maglor, but I always imagine that being found by Gil-Galad and taken to Lindon was the first time they had really felt safe or home since the Sack of Sirion.

Gil-galad theory of the evening, he's Amrod.

Fëanor and co. burnt the ships, Amras is like "dad where's my brother?!" Fëanor goes "oh fuck" and the drama ensues, but! Amrod didn't actually die! He woke up in time to leap off the boat and float down the shore on some scrap of a ship. He's mad at his family because he feels like he was betrayed and abandoned (reasonable) so he decides not to rejoin the Fëanorian host and find somewhere else to live. He makes his way to the Falas and lives with Cirdan's people. There are initially weird looks because he has red hair and that's weird to them, but Amrod uses elf hair dye to blend in (sometimes he goes dark, sometimes he uses elf bleach) He goes by the name Artanaro (noble fire) at first because he survived a burning attempt and he lives there as a hunter.

Whenever his lineage is called into question he'll say something vague like "oh my family were nobles" and try to drop the topic. After a while he tells some people "I'm from Finwë's family in Valinor, no not those kinslaying ones what are you talking about" and he gets called the equally vague "decent of kings" for that.

Once everything goes to shit and Gondolin falls, Cirdan is like "you're the only one left from Finwë's line who's not a Fëanorian right? You're the king now" and Amrod just rolls with it because why not? What's the worst that could happen? And then he dies in fire and everything makes a full circle and it's cinematic something something poetry something something irony

I have been putting off on actually settling for a design for him because there's no good way to reconcile my headcanons and still keep his parentage open to interpretation. This design lands him quite squarely in the "son of Fingon" case, though I have not done a proper design for either Orodreth or Finduilas (only a sketch) so I could adapt...

The four and six pointed stars are inspired by Tolkien's design of his heraldic device, though it's on purple here instead of blue in honour of the ace flag.

I like the idea that Celebrimbor inherited Feanor’s Glare™️ because it’s a funny image to think of his father and uncles seeing him after being reembodied and at one point getting a Scalding Glare™️ and immediately getting war flashbacks from their first lives l’mao like-
