So i just beat Omega raid questline (ended up in tears seeing little Alpha roaming the world but that's beside the point) and while i was commenting maniacally in the group chat, a friend who plays in english underlined A HUGE difference in one sentence.

Here's the original line from a transcript my friend send, it's around when Nero is down the floor not feeling very great... And here's the french version:

It's not a direct translation by any means, nor interpretation. Translated roughly, it goes:

"Deep down, i'm not preoccupied by Omega, not even the destiny of our world. You're the only and unique reason i'm present here, so don't make me regret coming"

Needless to say, i was screaming reading it. Idk if it's a matter of direct translation to japanese or one person in the french translation team shipping cid and nero. If it's the later, I SEE YOU AND THANK YOU.

Cloud: Cloud trusting you means he lets you see him be awkward. Not cool. Not competent. Just him. He'll say weird little things like, "I like you. You're not loud." and hand you a rock like it's a gift. He doesn't know how to show affection directly, so he shows effort. Polishing your boots. Watching your stuff. Saying, "I saw this. Zack: Funny enough, when Zack trusts you, the volume doesn't go up, it drops. He doesn't feel pressured to be sunny and positive anymore. The smile relaxes. The jokes come slower. The FC has been closed for a lil while in the downtime between expansions but has recently opened back up for Dawntrail! We're a raiding FC and will be running regular EX runs, doing 24 man alliance raids, maps, mount farming, ultimates, and host several savage statics! Basically if you want to do more content in the game we might be a good fit! Pretty much anything you want to do you'll probably get some people willing to do it with you. Anyone is welcome to join in anything we're running and we welcome all skill and experience levels, provided you put in the effort!

They should make it so you can play Doman mahjong or other Gold Saucer minigames from the ff14 companion app. It would make the app have a purpose.

I don't know anybody who actually uses it to chat or use the other features it has. I only have it installed so I get notifications about patches and server outages.

I tried using it once to send my retainers out, but you can't send them out on quick exploration. Even if you could send them out on quick exploration, it would be useless thanks to the very strict limits they put on using the retainers.

But don't worry, you can just buy moogle coins at gacha game prices instead. 😉

Like obviously the app is a cash grab but at least put some amount of effort into it. I'm mad because it's bad.

I'm curious, were you a mod for any of the ask blogs back in 2012-2013? I used to dabble in the Once-ler fandom and I remember some of the major blogs from it, like One and Spook.

Nope! I was the same thing then that I am now, a fan who spends way too much time and effort investing in these characters.

However...

In the actual Once-ler fandom I did briefly mod a blog for an original Once-ler, her name was Mouse-ler and she was a cute and shy little thing. I also had a blog for baby Oncie and Greed haha. Neither made it far and I wasn't good at pumping out art like that for responses, even if it wasn't crucial.

As for the THS fandom, I actually did create a blog for Pip as an OC, but it was late-game and I never made it past a single introduction post! As it stands I wasn't really well acquainted with any mods, mainly just Minty who was teen Swag, and even then it didn't go past interacting on each other's posts really. Most mods have chat history, or nowadays Discord servers where they plan RPs and (usually) become pals. I was never one for that even if I did RP as a kid in the KH fandom, I tend to wing things or go off single prompts haha.

Anyway, my point is that when it comes to running a proper ask blog, the answer is that I was never really a proper mod. But I did enjoy the mini-interactions I had with One, Swag, and the others, all while remaining on my personal account under the guise of a fanged Ditto, LOL. My fave moment is still when I revealed my human persona and Swag called me a "fucking Moogle" (in reference to the silly Ahoge I drew on my sona at the time).

What, respectfully, THE FUCK is Final Fantasy even ABOUT

UM. WELL THERE ARE 15 SOON TO BE 16 OF THOSE FANTASIES so in general they're just very epic jrpgs with big ass sprawling stories and certain themes and motifs in every game (crystals, a lot of the classes, monster species like moogles, specifically you'll usually find a guy named Cid, the general idea of Light versus Dark, just to name some). none of the stories connect unless they're specifically marketed to BE a part of that game (so like X-2 is a sequel to X, but X isn't a sequel to IX). Also they tend to use roman numerals to number the main series games.

the final fantasy i play is specifically Final Fantasy XIV, one of two MMOs that the series has (the other one is XI, and it's servers are still active today). ffxiv is specifically about your player character, the Warrior of Light, traveling to the country of Eorzea and being recruited by a group of ppl called the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, to help fight the monstrous threats named Primals, who are summoned by giving people crystals to summon false versions of their gods. This is supplied by the Big Bads, the Ascians, evil black-robed people of untold power. The Ascians are working for the god of chaos, Zodiark. You, by contrast, are God's Specialist Child (aka you can hear the voice of the star, Haydelyn). Also beyond the supernatural threat, you have to deal with the Garlean Empire, a technologically advanced imperialist empire who wants nothing more than to conquer the star.

A lot of people in game will talk about an apocalyptic event called the Seventh Umbral Calamity that happened five years before the game started. The Calamity was actually the shut down of the original version of XIV, which was so bad it nearly bankrupted Squeenix. So the lore reason for the server shutdown was Bahamut fell from the second moon Dalmund and just. fucked shit up.

There's a. LOT MORE PLOT but that's all you need to know for the basics of starting this game. < 3
