this is my to-go bbq and steamboat/hotpot place when visiting cameron highlands, never missed it once because it’s just a must-visit place on my list. and going with a group of friends would make the experience more fun and enjoyable.
eating steamboat/hotpot is a culture in cameron highlands, because of the chilly weather, and there’s just steamboat/hotpot restaurant everywhere. this place uses a mix pan where you can grill meat in the middle and cook food in soup on the side, it’s thai style called mookata, and for me, this is really perfect.
the restaurant do set menus, minimum order of 2 pax which has fresh vegetables, a plate of bbq meat, some frozen steamboat/hotpot assorted fish balls, egg tofu, abalone slices, mushroom, noodles and egg. it’s a very traditional steamboat set.
you can of course add on more based on the number of people and also order extra for any dishes that you like. the meat is highly recommended, it grills perfectly, just a good aroma, very appetizing flavor, not too fatty and goes well with their homemade chili sauce.
the soup is clear and when cooked with vegetables, it taste so refreshing and sweet, great to wash down all the meat. and chinese tea is of course the perfect drink for the meal to cleanse away the oiliness.
the place do get crowded very quickly, so visit early to get a spot, or have a late dinner, i love how simple yet satisfying the meal is, and it’s just awesome with the chilly weather.

went to the gym, slayed on that 3.8km run (PR!!). fucked around with some weights and did a dead hang for 40 seconds (another PR!) then i went to drop off the london things at my ex's house and left to go to the mall near my place to get dinner. dinner was tasty but not filling at all lmao also i hate cooking my own food at restaurants (steamboat, mookata e.t.c) NUH UH i hate using my brain when im tired and i want to eat something. was supposed to get frozen yoghurt after, but they didn't have the sauce i wanted so i went with a doughnut instead.
went home, found out my sleep hoodie and blanket was in the wash, was dismayed and distraught. texted my ask to ask for one of his hoodies back and he said "okie" im not sure how he's planning to pass it to me but aight i guess. Fell asleep after that.

I was again, intimated before going in as I was nervous that Secondary school students would be more rebellious and if I would have to change my tone when talking.
I realised interacting with secondary school students is WAY DIFFERENT to primary school students.
SECONDARY VS PRIMARY
In primary schools, it’s very instructional: ‘step 1: blah blah, step 2: blah blah blah’, and it’s all spelled out for the students. This goes beyond just learning the music, but also for how to practice, how to keep their guitars etc… the tone I use when speaking to them is more ‘teacher-like’
In secondary schools, the students are no where as enthusiastic as primary school kids. So it took more effort on my end to engage them and make the lesson look more interesting and fun. Because for them it’s been a 7 hour day, they are EXHAUSTED, and you can see it on their face. Thus, I tend to use a more friend-like, casual tone.
Overall, I enjoy the contrast between the 2 and I know it’ll take more time to properly firgure out my teaching style for both.
The ensemble received their new song ‘I Want It That Way’
After my first day at Yuying, I met my seniors for mookata, they nagged me to complete this intern journal, I appreciate them a lot for doing so🤪
They shared about our experiences doing their internships and we went back and forth. It was fun to hear how they faced the struggles with their internships and how they adapted and reflected upon their experiences.
