Moominktober/Inktober Day 31 Farm/Crossover
The Moomins were sad to leave their new friends, but had to go
The adventure was over, so a grand farewell did they bestow
Guy and Sam had their own travels and more places to be
They wanted to see their friends, Gluntz, Michellee and E.B.
The two whos now had stories to tell and charm
They also had to get back to their Green Eggs and Ham farm
Both groups vowed to meet again, one day they’ll could come over
But for the moment, each side had to leave this crossover
…….
Moominpapa, Moominmama, and Snorkmaiden had already started towards the boat and the Amphibian. Joxter had to drag Little My away from Snufkin and Moomintroll so they could say goodbye in private—all while keeping an eye on his boy, lest he disappear again. Moomintroll and Snufkin turned back towards the portal, glancing at the other side. Sam and Guy was staring back at them with a sad and yet grateful smile. Snufkin looked at Moomintroll, who was holding Snufkin’s hat. He held it out for his to take, and Snufkin happily took it back. After placing it back on his head, Snufkin met Moomintroll’s eyes, and briefly glanced back at the two whos. Moomintroll thought for a second, and release that this was the last chance to say goodbye to their dear new friends.
Without another word, he placed his paw on the water-like surface of the transparent doorway. Snufkin turn to fully face Guy and Sam and did the same.
With tears blinked back, Sam and Guy returned the heart-felt motion. They each placed their own paws on the doorway too—with Guy placing his hand near Moomintroll’s paw and Sam’s own hand almost on top of Snufkin’s.
Neither person made a single sound, not one word was needed. This simple gesture was the best way the two couples could their silent, bittersweet goodbyes as the portal slowly and gracefully disappeared.
THE END

MOOMIN - WOLFWALKERS AU (based on C3′s post)
FINALLY. I have done the references ksjdfhs
I tried to color them but I still can’t find a good brush to do lineart with... I’ll figure that out later.  Anyway here’s everyone’s designs in their normal form and wolf one. A rough summary of the AU under the read more!
Longing once more for a brand new adventure, Moominpappa chooses to move  from England to Kilkenny, Ireland, taking on the position as a wolf hunter in a settlement on the outskirts of a grand forest. However, Moominmamma, too attached to her home, refuses to leave England. After lots of discussion, their son Moomintroll decides to follow his father to Ireland with the hopes of having the adventure of a lifetime as a hunter’s apprentice. However, soon after arriving at the settlement, Moomintroll begins to question of leaving England was the right decision. It is not long after that, one day, while sneaking out into the forest, the young troll comes across two peculiar siblings that walk during the day in humanoid form, and roam the forest at night in the shape of wolves.

>3> its 3 am and i am having fic ideas
so, very hypothetically, if i were to write something where...
the moomin family (including little my, snorkmaiden, and sniff) all left moomin valley for a period of time (four years?) for some reason. they leave in the middle of winter. snufkin comes around in the spring and waits for a like a week, writing it off as being early in his eagerness, before too-ticky crosses paths with him and says they left during the winter.
and snufkin is a little angry they didn't leave him a note (or invite him), but mostly disappointed by not getting to see his friends. but hes ultimately okay with it by saying that everyone needs a grand adventure from time to time. too-ticky invites him to her and mym jr's place but he declines and says he'll be oh his way.
he sticks around hoping maybe they'll come back soon. they don't. he leaves a note in their mailbox, just in case they come back, to let them know he stopped by, and that he'll see them next spring.
he comes back the next year, they still aren't back. he leaves another note.
a third year, and they aren't back. another note.
the moomins come back the fourth spring. snufkin doesn't. instead they get a letter from him saying that he won't be able to make it, but he'll keep in touch through sending letters.
another year, no snufkin, just letters.
a couple years pass and a stranger, a mumrik, as rare as they are, comes through, quiet as a mouse, with a scar across their face. sets up a little tent on the outskirts of the valley. (its snufkin but he's changed. sporting more fur, a new scar, and a new set of clothes. he's taller, more muscular, but still thin and lanky, vs how Moomintroll filled out, grew up and out and could lift boulders larger than he.) and hes not purposely hiding his identity, but hes still a little hurt, and a little bitter, and honestly, kind of stopped talking to *anyone* after the fifth year mark.
moomin still has his harmonica.
basically, it'd be a rekindling of old friendships and crushes, with older (mid-20s vs barely adults) characters, more life experience, and more heartbreak.
would anyone be interested...?

Hello friends. So, like many a person waiting on haitus I too have imagined what the perfect next season of moominvalley will be like. I'm sure there's bound to be SOMETHING wrong with it because idk no one at studios ever listens to common sense and community input? Idk man but here we are. I myself have decided to create a pretty solid season 3 and we'll see how much I get right or wrong. I'm sure this will age like Orange Juice (which by orange juice I actually how no idea if orange juice can spoil just like I have no idea WHAT the studio has in plan) but we do know a few things so I kind of tried to keep with the spirit, the way their characters have progressed and how far they still have to go, and also what we all want. Some things I have in mind will continue/happen in my fake season 4 so maybe I'll do that later we'll see but for now have a presentable season :)
(I'll put it under the cut I know it'll be long lol. also apparently there is a 10 image limit so I'll put the second part of the season in a new reblog don't worry)
Episode 1 - Moomintroll's grand adventure
-moomintroll gets a sea adventure all on his own. he learns the struggles of independence and gets to feel the wind in his fur. it's all rather lovely, but he finds that it isn't exactly as easy as he thought.
-Things to keep in mind: in this ep we want to show how he has become more independent and drifting from the kind of shadow his father left. He still wants to fit under it a little (that's why it's a sea adventure) but as it goes on he needs to realize he is his own person and that is great
Tumblr media
Episode 2 - If snufkin feels one (1) more emotion he's gonna snap
-the moominparents, little my, and the lightouse keeper return to the valley on the keeper's boat
-the moomins go into hiberations and the fisherman and toft/toffle bond and find family in each other and go back to the island. This way they are both able to find the companionship they both so desperatly need and the fisherman basically adopts toffle, that way they don't need the moomins anymore :)
-so anyway, naturally, during all this snufkin is emotionally DESTROYED and runs off to the woods. there is nothing worse than skyrocketing your hopes only to have them come crashing down once again
-however, before runing away completely snufkin consults too-ticky who has just recently started to settle down in the boathouse for the winter
-he talks about his emotions, because he feels that she would understand this kind of thing, and how it's really weird. he's always missed moomintroll while he's away but it's different now and there's something different and maybe there alway has been he doesn't know!! it's all so confusing
-too-ticky gives him some wise words (basically: aye, ye gaye bastard) and he goes on his way
-Through the forest he sees several memories flash before him in the form of magical looking apparition that look really cool (the animators can flex their particle engines with the memories as illustrated below which I think would be,,, pretty cool)
-The memories are old, like when he and moomintroll first met or a few small adventures they've had
-he realized that he's never had a friend like this ever not even with the rest of his group or even the several interesting characters he's met on his travels
-at least.... never someone to come home to
-home. that scares him. he heads on his way and promises to find moomintroll again no matter what
-this memory montage has an indie banger over it, of course
Tumblr media
Episode 3- Little My the Asexual Pirate Queen
-Little My isn't hibernating this year. She's decided to have her own adventure, if everyone else is getting one
-Pirates come to the valley and she boards their ship but gets thrown in the brig before she can do too much
-She meets a few people in the brig with her and they all stage a mutiny against the captain
-little my becomes the new captain with the person who helped her as her first mate
Tumblr media
Episode 4 - Beauty Queen gets character development
-sniff and snorkmaiden look for snork
-they face a couple things and snorkmaiden shows how she can be a really great and independent leader
-snork, when they find him, is excited to go to the valley with them because he will be able to finally get all the materials to build his flying ship with/finally fly/test it!
Tumblr media
Episode 5: The Real treasure was the bf (best friend) we had all along
-moomintroll meet little my and her pirate crew
-one of the pirates says they know about a treasure on an island and they go to find it
-kind of like the hattifattener episode
-but now with actual pirates and real treasure lol
-the find the chest and celebrate theier newfound riches
-now that moomintroll has had his adventures he decides that it's time to go back to the valley
-after all it is almost spring and he doesn't want to miss snufkin
-through this adventure moomintroll and little my aren't as mean to each other and understand each other more, becoming more like adopted siblings
Tumblr media
Episode 6 - Backstreets back alright dunununn
-Snufkin is playing his newest spring tune solemnly against a tree
-here he is back in the valley but moomintroll still hasn't returned
-he puts up his tent anyway and basically mopes
-moominmamma comforts him over tea and they talk a bit
-the finally finally he's back babyyy
-now here's the most important part pay attention
-they both run across the way and collapse into a
-you guessed it
-spin hug!!
-which is as it sounds moomintroll picks snufkin up and they spin around (kind of like when snorkmaiden and moomintroll broke up but it's better and means the opposite)
-another indie song plays over this scene of course so everytime we listen to it on the album we can cry
-snufkin whispers "I missed you" in moomintroll's ear
-moomintroll laughs and says "now you know what it feel like" but in a teasing way he doesn't mean anything bad by it. he gets it now.
-but snufkin still stiffens and realizes what that means. he tries to apologize for leaving all the time and tries to promise things moomintroll knows it would hurt him to keep so he assures him that it is okay he understands and loves him no matter if they're appart
-snufkin has a gay panic moment obviously he doesnt mean it like *that*
-so they part each other's embrace on good terms and snufkin thanks him
-there is probably a sub plot to this episode but none of us remember what it was because we had whiplash for like a full 10 minutes after this

Moomintroll learned about Swan Maidens from Mamma. Pappa liked to tell long winded stories, of grand adventures and daring deeds that he had seen and done, but Mamma’s stories were the best, told late at night when it was just the two of them, Moomintroll curled up in the warmth of his bed with the covers tucked up close.
She told stories about a Swan Maiden who had a magical cape, that turned her into a swan, and she could fly so high and see many things of the world, and she would tell him of all the things the swan had seen. 11k, mostly fluff.

Rainy Days
Anonymous: u asked for fluffy snufmin prompts and I’m here to deliver!:) it’s cold and rainy and gross out so moomin convinces snufkin to stay in at moominhouse. snufkin tries to teach moomin how to play an instrument and moomin tries to teach him how to bake smth. they’re both bad at the thing which the other finds adorable <3
Annzy: I am so sorry this took so long, but I hope there’s enough fluff <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Snufkin, can you put aside your pride for one second?” Moomin wasn’t sure if he was scolding or pleading with his boyfriend at this point. All he knew was that it had been raining for the past two days, and Snufkin had to keep moving his tent to higher and higher ground to avoid the mud, and really things would be so much simpler if he would just come stay in Moominhouse until the rain cleared up.
“This is the last rainy day,” Snufkin argued, rolling up his tent while Moomin held an umbrella over them. “I can feel it.”
“You said that yesterday.”
“That was yesterday.”
“Just come inside!” Moomin pulled at the skin underneath one of his eyes. “If today really is the last rainy day, then staying in a nice, warm, dry house until it clears up would be best. And then we can go worm hunting as soon as the rain stops!”
Snufkin hummed, fixing his tent to the top of his pack before looking at Moomin with a small smile on his lips. “Trying to butter me up?”
“More like trying to resist throwing you over my shoulder and carrying you to Moominhouse.”
Snufkin laughed at that, swinging his backpack on with a small sigh. “All right, you’ve won me over.”
“Finally!” Moomin groaned, snatching Snufkin’s hand and starting to lead him off before he could change his mind.
~~~
Moominmamma wasn’t usually too strict when it came to messes and dirt. But at the sight of Snufkin with dried mud in his hair, on his legs, and stuck on the ends of his tunic, she insisted he take a warm bath while she washed out his clothes for him. Thankfully they had a worn-in outfit that Snufkin considered acceptable to wear for brief periods; a plain, mustard yellow, cotton frock.
“It’s so weird to see you in anything other than green,” Moomin commented when Snufkin entered his room. He’d spent the time idly doodling some flowers, but he was happy to put it away for awhile.
“Is it?” Snufkin brushed out the fabric, chuckling a little. “How would I look in red?”
“I can’t even imagine,” Moomin shook his head, happily padding over with a smile. “Well, what should we do for our rainy day adventure? Play a board game? Act out scenes from a book? Oh! Let’s bake something!”
“Bake?” Snufkin was already looking forward to whatever sweets Moomin was in the mood for. He’d become quite a fantastic baker over the years.
“Yes!” Moomin was already walking out of his room and down the stairs. “I can show you how to make a rhubarb pie!”
“Oh…” Snufkin hesitantly followed him down the stairs. “Aren’t pies rather hard to make?”
“Maybe at first,” Moomin admitted. “But I’d say they just take more time. Especially if you want the lattice covering on top, but it just looks cuter, don’t you think?”
“If you say so.” Snufkin tried not to feel too nervous. If it was a rhubarb pie, he could just help prepare the filling and let Moomin worry about the rest. He absolutely hated working with pastry dough; it always turned out lumpy and stuck to his hands or his utensils whenever he tried.
At first his plan worked out well; Snufkin washed and cut the rhubarb while Moomin started mixing the flour, sugar, and butter together into a nice, large ball of dough. But once Snufkin was done preparing the rhubarb, Moomin called him over to the table, insisting, “Rolling out the dough into a big circle is the best part.”
“Oh, is it?” Snufkin kept a smile on his face despite his heart leaping into his throat.
“Oh yes!” Moomin separated the ball into two, smaller spheres, handing one to Snufkin. “I’ll let you use the rolling pin; a little easier than using your hands.”
“I’m sure.”  Snufkin nodded, acting like he knew what he was doing as Moomin handed him the rolling pin. He stared down at his ball of dough, noticing out of the corner of his eye that Moomin was already making good progress with flattening out his own ball with his hands. With a deep breath, he pressed the pin into the center and started rolling, hoping it would work out and that he wouldn’t look like a goon.
He should have known that was too much to hope for.
With each new roll, more and more of the dough started sticking to the pin, and Snufkin was quickly becoming frustrated with just how often he had to peel it off and lay it back down on the table. “A little easier than using your hands” indeed. He was so absorbed with his struggle that he didn’t realize Moomin had already finished flattening and rounding his ball of dough.
“Snufkin.” Moomin was clearly amused, and when Snufkin turned to look he saw a playful gleam in those baby blue eyes. “Need some help?”
“Oh, no.” Snufkin shook his head, trying to roll out the dough fast, hoping it wouldn’t stick. No such luck; if anything that made it worse. “I have it all under control, thank you.”
“Ah, I see.” Moomin nodded, obviously stifling a large grin. “Then I’ll start mixing the filling together while you finish… that.”
“Yes, I’d appreciate it.”
Moomin nodded, chuckling a little as he began gathering spices from the cabinets. Snufkin watched him for a moment to make sure he wasn’t looking before returning to the menacing pastry. The dough looked more like a lumpy, cracked plate rather than a nice circle, so he began rolling it into a ball again before starting over. He put the rolling pin aside before digging in with his hands, since that had seemed to work for Moomintroll just fine. Except, just like before, all that ended up happening was the dough sticking to his hands rather than the rolling pin.
“How’s it going?”
Snufkin felt the fur on his back stand on end as he turned to look at his grinning boyfriend. “It’s going.”
Moomin chuckled, tactfully sliding the flour to him. “A little of this should take care of that stickiness you’re struggling with.”
“Right, of course.” Snufkin tried to smile nonchalantly, hoping his cheeks weren’t red as he reached for the flour. A little sprinkle later, and the dough was finally behaving properly. Now all he had to deal with was the fact that he was apparently incapable of flattening it evenly; some parts were thin as paper while others were little, thick pockets.
Snufkin bristled when he heard Moomin start to laugh, and he quickly turned to glare softly. “You’re enjoying my suffering?”
“Sorry!” Moomin covered his mouth, shoulders shaking with his laughter. “It’s just such a rare sight to see you like this.”
“Like what?”
“Like…” Moomin paused, trying to think of the best way to word this. “Like someone who doesn’t know everything?”
“I never claimed to know everything—”
“But you do act like it sometimes,” Moomin pointed out, grinning wider. “With all your grand stories and wise words. I’m just saying, it’s nice to see you failing at something.”
Snufkin pouted at him, certain his cheeks were at least pink as Moomin continued laughing at him. “What use is dough-making for a tramp?”
Moomin shrugged, leaning in to nuzzle his nose against Snufkin’s cheek as he pushed his hands away from the dough. “Just let me take care of this, all right? You can be adorable somewhere else.”
Snufkin tensed up from the casual way Moomin said that, a warm shiver running down his spine. “What, you—my struggling is adorable?”
“Very much so, actually.” Moomin was thoroughly enjoying himself as he rounded the dough for the third time that afternoon, picking up the rolling pin and humming away as he easily levelled it into a perfect, little circle. “And there we go.” Moomin grinned at him again, pointing towards the counter. “Can you get me a knife so I can cut out the lattice?”
Snufkin huffed quietly, stepping over to fetch him his knife while embarrassment sat heavy in his stomach. He really didn’t like looking like a fool, but at least it was only Moomintroll who saw. And to be called adorable on top of it all! How completely undignified.
“Thank you, Snufkin.” Moomin beamed as he took the knife from him. “And just so you know, you look even more adorable with that pout on your lips.”
Snufkin was sure his entire face was red as he covered his mouth with his hand. “I am not pouting.”
“Oh, you’re not?”
“Absolutely. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be in the living room.” Mamma could use some company as she knitted, anyway.
~~~
The pie turned out beautifully, and the whole family came to the kitchen to enjoy it. Pappa complimented them on their perfect, flaky crust, and Moomin couldn’t help but laugh a little until Snufkin gave him a look. He didn’t say anything, of course; he didn’t want to embarrass Snufkin. No, he’d rather keep the image of Snufkin glaring down at the dough with flushed cheeks and a frustrated pout all to himself. Maybe he’d try and sketch it out later in his journal, just for posterity’s sake.
It was still raining after they finished their rhubarb snack, so Moomin and Snufkin went up to his room to stare out across the cloudy skies and damp valley.
“What should we do now?” Moomin asked.
“Hm.” Snufkin tapped his fingers twice against the windowsill before pushing himself towards his pack. “Let’s make some music. Rainy weather is perfect to compose to.”
Moomin brightened, happily going to sit on his bed. “I do love your songs.” And it would be so exciting to hear him compose something in real time!
“I’m glad.” Snufkin pulled out his trusty harmonica before going to sit next to him on the bed. He blew through it once, as if to check to make sure it still worked, and then he began to play. Short, brisk notes, as if to imitate the pitter-patter of the rain, but sudden and loud enough to make Moomin’s ears twitch occasionally. He stopped after a few moments, turning to Moomintroll with a small grin of his own. “Actually, would you like to learn how to play?”
“Me?” Moomin’s eyes widened as he pointed to himself. “Oh, I don’t know how good I’d be.”
“Give it a try.” Snufkin handed the instrument over. “Can’t be any worse than me with pie dough.”
Moomin couldn’t help but laugh at that, covering his mouth again as he did. He was glad that Snufkin wasn’t too sore about earlier; he’d wondered if he’d gone a bit far with his teasing. “You have a point.” He took the harmonica, simply staring at it for a few moments before blowing into it experimentally. It was surprising how loud it was, but he supposed it was bound to sound louder to the one playing it.
Snufkin began trying to explain two different ways to isolate one note on the harmonica. One involved puckering your lips into a small oval shape, while the other involved using your tongue to block some of the other holes.
“You put your tongue on this thing?” Moomin interrupted.
“Sometimes.” Snufkin shrugged. “To get a certain sound. It makes it easier to add in or take away chords, too.”
“And you’re sure you want me to play this?”
“You’re clean enough, aren’t you?”
“That’s not really the point.”
“I don’t mind, Moomintroll.” Snufkin shook his head, a fond smile on his face. “Go on, try and play something. Just search until you find the note you want.”
“All right.” Moomin swallowed nervously, staring into the daunting holes of the harmonica before holding it up to his puckered lips and giving a cautious blow. It did take a bit of practice to play just one note, and whenever he tried to find a new one he found all sorts of unpleasant sounds coming out of the instrument before he got to where he wanted. After only a few minutes, his mouth was already starting to hurt and he stopped to rub at his lips.
“How do you play this for hours?”
Snufkin laughed, taking the harmonica back as he explained, “Well, for one thing, you were moving your mouth too much. You should move the instrument with your hands, not your lips.”
“Oooh.” Moomin groaned. “That makes sense.”
Snufkin chuckled for a bit longer, wiping the instrument down once with his sleeve. “I know what you meant earlier now,” he spoke up, eyes twinkling with mischief as he teased, “You also look adorable when you’re struggling.”
Moomin felt his fur stand on end as heat travelled down his body. “Oh, hush.” Moomin gently pushed at his shoulder, smiling a little at the joyful laugh that came out of Snufkin’s mouth. “Let’s just agree that we’re both adorable, all right?”
Snufkin paused for a moment, thinking that over. “Only if you agree that you’re the most adorable, being so large and fluffy.”
Moomin snorted, leaning in to nuzzle Snufkin’s forehead. “Deal.”
Moominpapa Steps Up
On healthy relationships and families
Just before sunrise on Friday morning, Moominpapa made his way to the cliff overlooking Moominmama's flower garden and waited until the sun fully illuminated it. Over the week that Moominmama, Snork Maiden, and Little My had been gone, he had made it his personal responsibility to care for the flowers and keep the garden weeded. He looked down at the portrait of Moominmama that the flowers created and breathed a sigh of deep love. This garden was the best gift that he and the rest of the extended Moomin family had ever given Moominmama. Even so, it was still a small token of how much they all loved her.
Moominpapa went down into the garden and picked two of every kind of flower in it and wrapped the stalks up in red and white wrapping paper, after the colors of Moominmama's apron, to make a lovely bouquet. When he got home, he found that Moomintroll and Snufkin had already brought out the picnic tables and dining room chairs and set them up right in front of the veranda as usual. Moomin and Tayberry had put the tablecloth on the tables and set out the place settings. They both wore party dresses, makeup and sun hats. Tayberry wasn't used to wearing dresses, and she had required her sibling's help to put on the makeup, but she was determined to look her best for her mother and grandmother on this special occasion.
"Thank you so much, all of you for all your help this week! Come on! Let's all head for the beach!", said Moominpapa, who was becoming more and more excited and emotional as the time for Moominmama, Snork Maiden, and Little My to return drew nearer and nearer. Moomintroll, Snufkin, Tayberry, and Moomin all stayed close to Moominpapa's side as they headed out, to offer him moral and emotional support.
They were soon all standing on the beach just a little bit away from the boardwalk that lead up to the bathhouse, staring at the door in anticipation. When they had found The Adventure still moored to the boardwalk last Friday, they realized that The Hobgoblin's Hotel must have transported Moominmama, Snork Maiden, and Little My somewhere, probably somewhere very special.
The door to the bathhouse opened by itself and there was a blinding flash of light, and suddenly Moominmama, Snork Maiden, and Little My were walking down the boardwalk towards them. Moominpapa ran up to greet his beloved wife, knelt down on one knee, and extended his bouquet of flowers towards her. She took it with a big smile on her face and held it to her snout and inhaled the blend of fragrances from the different flowers deeply.
"Mama.", said Moominpapa, "I would rather never write again than ever hurt your feelings or make you worry for me. You're the greatest adventure I ever had and I can never express how much I love you adequately. I hope you can forgive me now and keep on forgiving me forever, because I'm going to fail to be the Moomin you deserve again, and a lot sooner than I want to think about."
"And I'm going to try too hard and do too much and forget to take care of myself and then blame you again.", said Moominmama, "We were always perfect for each other because we know how imperfect we are, and we know how to forgive each other. Well, I see you brought everyone with you! How did you all get on this week?"
"Perfectly, grandma!", said Moomin, "You should have seen the way grandpa took care of the house, and your garden, and us! Dad, Snufkin, Tayberry and I helped, of course, but he took full charge! You'll be amazed at how good Moominhouse looks! Come on, you can start to tell us about your vacation on the way! We're going to prepare a special outdoor breakfast once we get there!"
"Well, to start with, we went to Mars.", said Moominmama, "We reunited with the Martian we rescued when he crashed his flying saucer in Moominvalley years ago. He had three children of his own, and they gave us a mailbox to send letters to them and get letters from them (at this she held up the Martian mailbox). Now, I want you all to understand that I will be the only one to touch it. I will keep it near my bed to keep it safe. So, there will be no more roughhousing in our bedroom, is that clear? If anything were to happen to it, I don't know what I'd...." Her voice broke and she shed a tear. Moominmama had very few strict rules that governed Moominhouse, and no one would ever think of breaking any one of them because it would mean breaking her heart.
The walk back to Moominhouse was a lot more subdued than Moominpapa had intended. Moominmama went into Moominhouse on her own and everyone else waited for her around the picnic tables. She went up to her and Moominpapa's bedroom first and gave the Martian mailbox a place of honor on her bedside table. She breathed a sigh of relief and headed back downstairs with a flower vase for her bouquet from the third floor storage room. She went into the kitchen for water and saw the ingredients for the breakfast they were about to have spread out carefully on the kitchen table. As she set her bouquet of flowers in the vase out on the parlor table, it really struck her all of a sudden how clean and inviting Moominhouse was. She couldn't have done a better job herself.
When she walked out of the veranda door, she had a broad smile on her face and tears of joy in her eyes and the somber atmosphere suddenly vanished and her whole family gathered around her for a big group hug.
"Papa, you did this all for me?", asked Moominmama, "It's wonderful! Do you want any help in the kitchen?"
"Nonsense, my dear!", said Moominpapa, "You should just relax and enjoy being pampered!" He led her to her seat at the head of the table, then he and Moomintroll went back to the kitchen to prepare the grand breakfast. As they waited, Snufkin played a brand new dance song on his harmonica and Moomin and Tayberry performed a special dance together to it. Moominmama's smile kept getting bigger, and her joyful laughter flowed freely as the celebration of the three women's return kicked into high gear. Moominmama, Snork Maiden, and Little My told the story of their time on Mars over the wonderful pancakes and fruit dishes Moominpapa and Moomintroll had prepared. They had even managed to bake Moominmama's legendary carrot cake with buttercream icing for dessert. It was one of the best parties that the Moomin family had ever thrown.
