Kdramas that you shouldn't have missed in the first half of 2021

Hello! i am back after a year of not uploading! So sorry guys! i just finished my final year in university so i didn't have time to upload a review on any kdramas. Rest assured, i will be posting again while i am free!! Anyway, before we go back to 2020, there were a lot of Kdramas that kickstarted the year. i have already watched 10 this year but will be sharing you 5 dramas that you should have not missed!

1. Vincenzo

The last drama I've watched of Song Joong Ki was Descendants of the Sun and my heart broke when i found out that he and Song Hye Kyo got a divorce. I'm not into the fantasy dramas like his previous Arthdal Chronicles but when news came out that he was going to star in Vincenzo along with Taecyeon, it became my most awaited Kdrama for 2021. The storyline was pretty slow and revolved around Song Joong Ki protecting the Geugma Plaza and the people from the Babel group. It also had lawyers from Wusang Law Firm who did dirty work with the Babel group. Humor is a bit weird, but the storyline was really good! You just have to be patient as there were plot twists in every episode (coughs ep 4).

Also, can we talk about Vincenzo and Hong Cha Young’s chemistry!!! Even though it wasn’t a romantic kdrama, the way they looked and took care of each other was 💯. 

2. She Would Never Know

I ike Rowoon but I didn't like him in Extraordinary You. But man, I looked forward to watching this kdrama every single week! It was an office romance type of setup, revolving around the company Klar Cosmetics, wherein  Chae Heun-Sung (Rowoon) fell in love for his senior, Yoon Song-Ah. At first, Song-Ah didn't want to date him because she was apparently dating someone else (aka Lee Jae-Shin), until she found out that he was cheating on her. In fact, he was already engaged to Lee Hyo Joo, the younger sister of Lee Jae-Woon,  the chairman of Klar. Song-Ah somewhat used Heung-Sung to protect herself from that guy (will avoid spoilers lol) but she eventually fell in love with him.

3. Penthouse Season 2

This drama was hifalutin but it did not disappoint. It was like Sky Castle but 10x more intense. Can't wait for season 3!

Also, Heung sung was such a baby! HAHAH but I really loved his acting here. 

4. True Beauty

Although premiered last December, it was such a lighthearted drama that you should watch it when you are having a bad time. Cha Eun Woo's acting got so much better than his past 2 dramas and Moon Ga-Young really impressed me! From that spoiled actress from Tempted to a kind-hearted girl in True Beauty. Moon Ga Young's character was someone deemed "ugly" by her peers. When she moved schools, she used makeup to cover her face and gain her confidence. This drama was actually an eyeopener for me because makeup definitely helps people gain their confidence. (please teach me how HAHAH)

I feel bad for this Seo-joon in this drama!! Although I am a Cha Eun woo fan, Hwang-In Youp’s character deserved more huhu.

5. Youth of May 

Set in the 1980′s, it talks about a love story between Kim Myeong-Hee, a nurse, and Hwang Hee-Tae. Myeong-Hee was supposed to study in Germany but had no funds to do so and her best friend, Lee Soo Ryeon, had to go on a blind date for family ties. Lee Soo Ryeon made Myeong-Hee go on that blind date and hence the relationship. THIS DRAMA IS HEARTBREAKING! It has a sad ending because of the political situation in Korea back then. If you are not ready for that kind of sad-romance drama, I suggest you skip it out for now. BUUTT LEE DO HYUN IS SO CUTE! After watching his 18 Again drama, I just could not resist. 

I’ll be doing more reviews soon. I just hope I have the inspiration to write. I just finished “I Married an Anti-Fan” so I might write about that as well.

Vincenzo officially ends last May 2, 2021. To be honest, I find it difficult to put in words what I felt while watching this series. It was too much but it was also too good. I was amazed on how they write the story as the beginning parallels the end. If you look deep in the story, you'll find some cultural references that have made the story deeper than it actually looks. At first, some are disappointed because when Vincenzo went to Korea, the show was full of comedies rather than actions. But I think some of the comedy parts are made to hide the dark meaning behind it. I want to commend whoever did the casting. The whole Geumga family and Babel Group casts was amazing. The director and writer maximized the use of all characters. No one was left behind. And even though it was Vincenzo-centered, hence the title, the other leads did well, too. Jeon Yeo Been and Ok Taecyeon steals the spotlight. Definitely a gamechanger. Jeon Yeo Been's character was constant throughout the whole series. Unlike any other strong female characters who became weak when they fell in love and eventually became reliant to their male partner, Hong Cha Young remains independent and fierce. Hong Cha Young is what the patriarchal society hates. She's loud, outspoken, strong, and consistent. She have shown her weakness and frustrations, making her character real. But it doesn't stop her on achieving her goals. Even if she's in danger, she's brave and can stand on her own. Jeon Yeo Been portrays her very well. As for Taecyeon, he did great, too. Jang Jun Woo is such a cutie and I'll miss his curly hair. But Jang Han Seok brought something different. His character was stressful and I was amazed on how Taecyeon portrays him. Taecyeon can differentiate Jun Woo to Hanseok. Actually, Taecyeon broke the stereotype of idols who can't act. Taecyeon CAN and he was amazing. This character is very different on what he usually plays. Hope he will have another project with Yeo Been because their chemistry was great. I just don't ship them together because he was a villain. When Hanseok said he loves Chayoung, it felt dry. They actually hinted that Hanseok loves Chayoung at first few episodes(when he got angry to Hanseo because he tried to harm Chayoung) but they removed it in the later episodes. I thought that they finally dismissed that idea because it will contradict on Hanseok's heartless character. Furthermore, if you are someone who wants to watch or expecting a lovestory, this might frustrates you. Because the love of the two leads was slow but this power couple won't disappoint you. I also want to praised the other villains in the story. Its great to see that they can keep up with Vincenzo.  AND GEUMGA FAMILY THE BEST!!!!!

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT Some says that the ending was brutal. But for me, they executed it just right. Remember, Vincenzo is a mafia. The villains can bend the law and kills whoever is in their way. No justice system can punish them for what they did. And can we talk about how they die? Attorney Han was stabbed because he was a backstabber. Myunghee died in fire while a Zumba song was playing. If you remember, she was dancing while Lawyer Hong Yoo Chan was announced dead in the television. And Hanseok? He died with no one knows where he is, the thing he was most afraid of. Plus, that spear of atonement, it pierced his heart eventhough he didn't have one. In the end, his flesh was eaten by a vulture. I am confused if that part was intentionally did by Vincenzo, hence, the he have the book on how to befriend or not. To be honest, these villains was actually a coward when they don't have a gun with them. Or when you remove their power. They are no match with Vincenzo who calculates everything and 100 steps ahead. The dumbest thing they did was to kill Vincenzo's mom. They just removed his weakness and provoke him. They deserved their death. The death of Hanseo was the most undeserved of all deaths that have happened (eventhough it was already foreseen). He deserved better. His character development must be commended. Although, I don't think Hanseok plan to kill him. He was just provoked on what Hanseo said (not deserved to be born) because it is what his father is always implying into him. And to Chayoung, too. I don't think he plan to kill Chayoung. The bullet was actually for Vincenzo. Lastly, Vincenzo did also received a punishment for all he did. It was difficult for him to go back to Korea, where his love one was. It was actually a torture for him because his love interest was away from him. Love how in the end, the writer and director didn't sugarcoat his character. He was still evil. An antihero. And I love him for that.

LASTLY, I want to thank all the fans and viewers of Vincenzo. All of you who made the theories left and right. When the 2 weeks drought came, a lot of you filled the gap. It was such nice to see a very great fandom! Will miss this weekend drama with all of you!!!

I'll give this drama a 1 million over ten!!! Recommended!!!!

Flower of Evil // review

note: this review is just base on my own perspective and view of the drama.

This is definitely one of the best Korean drama that I have ever watch. It's a literal roller coaster ride that would always leave you breathless in every episode to the point that a calm scene will scare the shit out of you. Really, don't expect an episode without chaos haha. You'd laugh, cry and feel the love in it. I was just really thinking that I'd watch it at a past time, you know. I didn't expect to get too attached to it since I just really found it interesting. But I never expected to be in too deep in it. Once I started, I never know how to stop myself from watching.

There are a lot of things that I really really love about this drama but I want this review as spoiler-free as possible because if you're thinking of watching it, then definitely go! No regrets, it's worth it, I swear. But please prepare tissues and prepare your heart.

One of my favorite thing in this drama is the trio. The Baek family. Baek Hee Seung, Cha Ji Won, and of course, the ever-lovable Baek Eun Ha. I really can't move on with their bond as a family. It feels heartwarming every time that they're complete on-screen and having a good time, but it's scary at the same time, you know. There's always this fear for what will happen in the next episodes and how would they overcome the struggles to come. You would really want to protect them as a family at all costs. They don't have to be vocal about how much they love each other because you could feel it in their actions. And I think that's one of the best things about it. There's no cheesy or over the top dialogues to express their love, their action speaks for it.

It is my first drama of Lee Joon Gi and I am beyond impress. I didn't expect him to be that good. And also Moon Chae Woon! They all nailed their characters. I couldn't think of any other fitting characters for their roles other than them. The emotions are there in their eyes. The pain, sorrow, struggle. I especially want to commend Joon Gi for his excellent act. I was so carried away with his acting. The two's chemistry is also... wow. I couldn't get over it. You would think they're really married haha. Special mention to Episode 11. Goodness, gracious. Their acting is truly phenomenal.

Let's talk about the plot. Wow. It was the first thing that really tickled my interest and I never regret picking it up. Most of the scenes would really leave you breathless, scared, and crying. The story was really unpredictable with every twist and turn. I love how their actions really reflected the scenes that happened. Also, the OSTs are so beautiful! I also love how they gradually unfold the past relationship of the two that made me connect with them even more.

Some might be disappointed with the ending, but it's just perfect for me-- or maybe almost. If they only give me few more scenes showing the family's bonding again then it would be perfect. For me, the ending was the right ending for all of them. Knowing everything that Hee Seung went through, if I am him, I think I would just also choose to forget it all. And I think it was just perfect timing for them to start anew. You know, it's time for him to love his family as him-- as who he really is and not someone else. I don't want him or anyone else to be haunted by the horrible past that they have gone through for months and years. I did complain at first, but gradually I realized that it's just the ending that they all deserve.

Well, that's all. I tried to make it as spoiler-free as possible haha. If you're planning to watch it, then go! You won't regret it, I swear. Truly one of the best Korean dramas of 2020.

This medical drama revolves around two talented surgeons, Ahn Hyo-Seop who playes the role of a General Surgeon who has a trouble past, and who is being ostracized by his fellow doctors, and Lee Sung-Kyung playing the role of Cha Eun-Jae who is a second-year Cardiothoracic surgeon who was suspended after making a major mistake inside the operation room. Não aprendi dizer adeus, mas tenho que aceita...

"Flower of Evil" acabou gente, e eu estou me sentindo órfã de drama e possivelmente estou escrevendo isso aqui bem no calor do momento, mas essa é terceira vez no ano de 2020 que abro minha boca pra dizer que com certeza é o drama do ano, apesar de acha que "Its Okay to not be okay" seja o campeão por conta da audiência mundial e tals, mas Flower Of Evil merece demais ganhar uns prêmios, tem como dar um prêmio duplo produção?

A atenção pelo drama iniciou bem antes mesmo das promoções, era Moon Chae Woon protagonizando com Lee Joon Gi de novo, alô órfão do Shipper de "Criminal Minds", tudo bem com vocês? Não vou dizer que agora eu estou bem, porque eu quero mais, sim, já começo minha torcida desde já pra que aconteça um terceiro trabalho pra esses dois, mas deixa eu retornar, porque não é de Shipper que vim falar hoje, é sobre não querer dar adeus a um drama tão perfeito do início ao fim.

Eu queria saber quem a TvN pensa que engana? Pois eu que não, chegou vendendo um drama que prometia que a gente ia torcer para o vilão, mas no primeiro episódio já passou a ideia que o vilão não é tão vilão assim, se fosse taria mais que certo que as dorameiras já estavam com os panos prontos pra passar, o poder que o Joon Gi tem atuando é inexplicável, sempre querendo interpretar malvados favoritos, pode entrar Hyun Su, ou devo dizer Beak Hee Sung?

Filho de um Serial Killer, Hyun Su sofre por ser filho de quem é, até assumir a identidade de Beak Hee Sung, atualmente é casado com a detetive Cha Ji Won, e junto com ela teve um linda filha, inclusive é a pessoa favorita de todo o mundinho dela e está determinado a cria-la diferente dele, tudo inicialmente é perfeito, exceto que Baek Hee Sung não é quem diz ser.

Sentiram o cheiro da preocupação? O cara é casado com uma detetive e esteve mentindo pra ela desdo início, sobre mais o que ele mentiu? Será o casamento todo um encenação da parte dele? O que é real?

Infelizmente nem o próprio Hyun Su sabe e nem confia nos próprios sentimentos pra saber o que está rolando, mas a vida de mentira parece está funcionando, então está tudo certo, exceto que o passado retorna para lhe assombrar, seu piores medos estão prestes a bater na porta quando um assassinato semelhante aos do passado voltam deixando seu verdadeiro nome em foco, preocupado e cansado de ver seu nome em evidência por algo que não fez, ele decide ir atrás de quem quer prejudicá-lo cometendo esses crimes e colocando na conta dele.

Porém o preço da verdade pode ser bem caro, e a bondade pode está trajada de interesse, por que digo isso? Nunca confiei na família que deu de bom grado uma identidade pra ele assumir, meu erro foi procurar um culpado, quando na verdade era a família inteira, e no andar da carruagem você vai entendendo o porquê.

Inicialmente tive a impressão de que o Hyun Su havia os obrigado a isso, a hostilidade deles com ele, era bastante evidente dando a entender que eles não gostavam nem pouco dele está usurpando o lugar do filho, mas que não tinham outra escolha, afinal o drama vendia o personagem como um vilão, porém sempre me incomodei com o patriarca, a mãe nem tanto, mas o pai tinha muita coisa a perder, com o andar do drama vamos vendo que mais uma vez Hyun Su é usado, o doutor necessita de um filho para manter as aparências, afinal ele está cobiçando um alto cargo e necessita ter uma vida famíliar perfeita, o verdadeiro filho deles é um vegetal alimentado por máquina, quem daria um cargo pra uma pessoa assim? Na verdade quem pensa assim? Só o doutor mesmo. Porém o Hyun Su agarra a oportunidade de assumir uma identidade, sem o peso que ele carrega só por ser filho de quem é, um novo começo pra quem passou anos de vida sofrendo pelos atos do pai.

Porém no meio do caminho da vida dele como Beak Hee Sung, ele conhece Cha Ji Won, a mulher que mais tarde lhe dará uma verdadeira família.

E quem, mesmo ele não tendo explicação pra isso, ele quer proteger de tudo e todos, inclusive da verdade, o nome disso é AMOR, Hyun Su se você não sabe,eu lhe digo AMOR.

Ji Won tem o sonho de se torna detetive/policial, mas também se encanta a primeira vista por Beak Hee Sung e com ele forma uma família, até que em do seus casos ela começa a desconfiar do marido, e antes de ir lá e acusa-lo, ela passa a fazer o que nenhum policial dignou-se a fazer, investigar se o Hyun Su é realmente culpado de tudo que o acusa ou não e como ela vai fazer pra passar pano e limpa a barra dele, tudo isso tendo que lhe dar com choque de que viveu um mentira, mas até onde era uma mentira ela não tem ciência, pra mim ele só mentiu o nome, tudo que eles construíram era pura verdade.

Com a verdade pronta para ser exposta, ela inicia uma corrida contra o tempo, enquanto tenta encontrar evidências para provar porque seu marido, apesar de está usurpando o lugar de outro, não é culpado do que o acusam. Digamos que é a primeira pessoa a confiar cegamente no Hyun Su em toda a vida dele.

Essa é a primeira parte do drama, quando as mentiras são expostas e necessitam ser esclarecidas, para isso Hyun Su pede a esposa que ela deixe ele pelo menos ir atrás de quem sempre o quis prejudicá-lo, já que ele preso não poderá fazer nada, e de certa forma para ele a polícia é falha, nunca o ajudou e ele não tem confiança de que faça agora, devido ao pré julgamento que a justiça tem dele, para lei ele já é culpado só por ser filho de quem é.

Ji Won que está ciente que nesse angu tem caroço, pedi a ele que confie, e que ela mesma vai investigar para inocenta-lo o mais rápido possível, afinal o lugar mais seguro é dentro da delegacia e ela quer proteger o boy, nem que pra isso tenha que mantê-lo preso, mas Hyun Su é tão teimoso e determinados quanto ela, e começa uma caçada por conta própria, deixando a gente com o coração na mão, já que ele flerta com a morte várias vezes e escapa fedendo dela.

Entramos no clímax, a segunda parte do drama, Ji Won e Hyun Su estão numa corrida contra o tempo, ela atrás de provas que possa inocentar o homem que ama, antes que todos descubram quem ele é, e ele atrás da pessoa que empurrou seu crimes nas suas costas, em quanto isso o vegetal volta a vida e máscaras vão caindo, a família agora não precisa do Hyun Su e deseja colocar o Beak Hee Sung no lugar a qual pertence e sempre foi dele, mas o buraco é mais embaixo, e as coisas não vão ser tão fácil assim como foi no passado.

O bom desse drama é a evolução do personagem principal, que é uma pessoa que não tem sentimentos, mas que ironicamente é a que sente de mais e nem tem ciência disso, mas os roteiristas da TvN tem um sério problema em encerrar um drama, e me vem com outra tragédia no último minuto, o personagem não sofreu o suficiente, vamos empurra aqui outro problema pra ele enfrentar, já que o antigo aparentemente tá resolvido, vou te conta uma coisa essas coisas são emocionante pra penúltimo episódio, pra último, onde o personagem passou o drama inteiro sofrendo, era pra ser uma hora e vinte minutos de muito amor, pra gente terminar com um sorriso na cara, não com cara inchada de tanto chorar, foram cada porrada que eu achei que não iam parar mais e eu ia chorar até o último minuto, mas essa nova invenção dos roteiristas não derrubou a qualidade do drama, só não foi 100% satisfatório.

O importante que no último minuto eles nos entregaram um "Happy Ending" sugestivo, ele não melhorou, mas vai melhorar aos poucos, afinal ele encontrou seu ponto de partida, então só tem que começa de novo.

Pra resumir, UMA ABRAÇO A TRÊS NÃO FOI SUFICIENTE TvN, eu esperava mais de você. Por isso não estou sabendo direito como dar adeus esse drama, mas alguém ficou com a sensação de vazio? Que ficou faltando algo?

- Kim Rae-won awalnya ingin menjadi pemain bola basket profesional, tetapi ketika tendon pergelangan kaki yang cedera mengakhiri impian masa kecil itu, ia beralih ke dunia akting dan belajar Teater dan Film di Universitas Chung-Ang . Dia membuat debut aktingnya di drama remaja 1997 Me , dalam peran seorang pemula di klub penyiaran sekolah menengahnya. [1] Ini diikuti oleh drama remaja lain, School 2 (1999) dan film Plum Blossom (2000). Lalu dia membintangi komedi romantis film yang My Little Bride , [7] dalam peran seorang lulusan perguruan tinggi dipaksa menikah seorang gadis sekolah menengah ( Moon Geun-young ). [8] My Little Bride menjadi hit dan menjadi film Korea terlaris kedua tahun 2004.
