While I'm okay with genderswapping Transformers in shows to better balance gender ratios, I do wish that wasn't apparently the first resort for writers once they've grabbed Arcee, Elita-1, and/or Windblade instead of just... Using one of the many female Transformers that already exist.
Other female characters I want to see animated:
Tumblr media
Autobot Road Rage, my tippy top pick. She is so cool and sexy.
Tumblr media
Decepticon Spacewarp. She's a deep space explorer that has lots of different adventures and finds herself questioning the Decepticon cause.
Tumblr media
Megaempress and the Four Guards. For the love of all things good, please pull a Ruckley and write these ladies something decent because the Unite Warriors comics are terrible with them.
Tumblr media
Autobot Javelin, sharpshooter and warrior! She has a really cool design and I think there are some really interesting ways you can take her character, especially if you bounce off the IDW2 story where she's traumatized from getting a head injury in combat!
Tumblr media
Decepticon sleeper agent Flip Side. I want to see a dedicated story arc based off of her story with Blaster and how she deals with realizing her life was a lie.
Tumblr media
Pyra Magna and the Torchbearers/Rust Renegades. While Victorion showed up in the Prime Wars trilogy, the separate components didn't seem to do so. I think either story from IDW1 or IDW2 would be fantastic story to explore in an animated story!
What female characters who've never been animated (or perhaps showed up for maybe 5 seconds) would you like to see?

Japanese G1 continuity is absolutely not normal about girls but damned if they don't give us some of the best ones
There was a significant amount of Transformers continuity released between 1987 and around 2007 that was produced in Japanese and is really only known to most English-speaking fans through fansubs, dubs that were only released in Australia, and the like. Shows like Headmasters, Victory, and Zone. Manga like Victory and 15 Go Go Go Teletraan (which was really mostly Kiss Players). Radio shows like Kiss Players.
I'm gonna be super up front. Japanese G1 is not normal about femmes in any way, shape or form. At the same time, it gave us some of the BEST and most underused female characters in the Transformers universe.
Headmasters, which came out right after the US G1 show ended, is particularly egregious. In Headmasters, Arcee has been reduced to Fort Max's administrative assistant, uses ridiculously polite and subservient language, and is also the only medic. And being a medic would be kind of badass if they let her be as badass as Ratchet, you know? But they absolutely do not.
Also, in Headmasters, Carly (now married to Spike) allows her son--a freaking child, not even a teenager--to go on missions when Spike can't and a human is needed, because uh, for some reason it's better for a 12 year old boy to go, not an adult woman?
But most of the good femmes don't come from Headmasters. And some of the best femmes we have are from Japanese G1.
Super-God Masterforce made it up to us by giving gave us Minerva, a human girl who is a Headmaster with a robot body (transtector) making her basically a bad ass mecha pilot, and who actively does fight.
The Victory manga gives us Esmeral, Deathsaurus' incredibly classy wife, and Lyzack, Leozack's twin sister, who is in charge of defending the homefront but really does want to go out and fight. Illumina appears in both the Victory manga and the anime. She's a little human girl who has a crush on Jan Minakaze and is always trying to get people to choose nonviolence.
(Lyzack later appears in an English-language comic - the Wings Universe--wherein she's basically Deathsaurus' servant and Starscream hits on her. I don't like that.)
There are a number of great femmes who were only ever toys. The Cobalt Sentries set gave us Howlback, leader of the Decepticon military police (called the Cobalt Sentries). She is basically Ravage's twin sister but instead of being super stealthy she can turn your attacks right back on you.
(Later she appears in several English language comics and in at least one she is canonically trans. I'm not a fan of her depiction in the SG Recordicons Batman tribute arc, though.)
The Unite Warriors toyline - Takara's response to Combiner Wars, basically - gave us the combiner Megatronia, made up of Megaempress, and her four guards, Lunaclub (sometimes called Luna Clover or Luna Trefle), Flowspade, Moonheart, and Trickdiamond. They are incredibly awesome.
(IDW 2019 used Trickdiamond, but none of the others. Tricky was one of Swindle's contacts.)
Then there's the elephant in the room that everyone pretends isn't there...Kiss Players.
So, okay. There is nothing normal about Kiss Players whatsoever. On the other hand, I'd rather listen to KP than watch RID2015 which is just blatant copaganda from hell.
Kiss Players had an interesting plot involving little bits of Galvatron and Unicron getting into humans and creating the Kiss Players--humans who could give TFs a powerup by kissing them and then merging with their internals somehow. Then there are the Legions, the dick-tongued monsters that everyone who hasn't actually listend to the show or read the manga thinks are Megatron.
The dick-tongued monsters are gross. It is also gross that some of the Kiss Players are barely teenagers and definitely not adults and are constantly ending up in Situations.
But the plot centres around the apparent rise of Convoy, or Optimus, from the dead, and his transformation into a weird groomery dude, which many people don't understand there was an actual reason for, because it's not Optimus, it's someone else riding around in his body.
Melissa Faireborn is like if you chopped Marissa Faireborn's IQ in half, dyed her hair blond and threw out any pants or skirts that covered her knees. She is nothing like Marissa and I treat them as cousins, but Xiaoxiao Li is amazing and her real lover.
Anyhow, this female scientist (Dr Amaou) lost her mind over the loss of her daughter during the events of the 1986 movie et sequelae, and she's got to be stopped from turning Atari and her Autorooper robot pal into a permanent fusion to reincarnate her daughter Shizuku (whom for some reason I always want to call Setsuna instead).
It's a little confusing because most of the really good parts of the plot got jammed into a few episodes near the end of the season, although once you know what it is, it's clear that it's being set up. That artist just likes borderline lolicon way too much.
The second season of KP is very squeaky clean and sends the girls out to collect what they think are Allspark fragments, and they are very annoyed because Ravage, whom they call "black panther man" keeps getting in their way and fucking with them, only to later find out that the bots who gave them this task are Unicronian heralds and Ravage is trying to stop them from helping Unicron do what Unicron does.
Rosanna, everyone's favourite robot pop idol, comes from the second season of KP, although you don't see very much of her or her companions Glit and Sundor.
Incidentally KP sets up the Unicron Trilogy and some of its characters end up in the UT--which did come to the US, and gave us Alexis Thi Dang.
(This post is brought to you because I just wrote an Esmeral thing and someone was musing separately about Megaempress as a parent and I almost ended up writing this post while reblogging them, because I'm a nerd with a hyperfixation).

Transformers Warfare: Megaempress & The Five Guards
As one of the few all femme combiners teams known to exist, Megaempress and her Five Guards are among some of the highest ranked Decepticons, with Megaempress even being considered for an alternate second-in-command to Megatron in case Starscream outlives his usefulness. But like the egotistical Seeker, Megaempress desires power and views Megatron as an obstacle in her way to obtaining it. Time will tell if she follows in Starscream's footsteps. After all, her team is already a force to be reckoned with.
Megaempress
The self proclaimed Empress of Destruction, Megaempress, much like Megatron himself, is charismatic and powerful, and very willing to flaunt it. Though she has a coral of bodyguards aiding her, she is unafraid to step into battle and show her foes exactly how she got such a high place in the Decepticon army.
Megaempress transforms into a Mitsubishi Fuso Great fire engine. She is armed with a rail fusion cannon and a "Judge Pickel" axe. Yes, she's aware of how ridiculous that name is.
Lunaclub
The younger and far more immature twin sister to Moonheart, Lunaclub is your average Starscream fangirl. Though she is loyal to Megaempress, as an inherit member of Megatronia, it certainly wouldn't surprise anybody if she suddenly fell in with the Seeker... especially with rumors that Starscream is planning to splinter away from Megatron, and take a few troops with him in the process. Only tIme will tell where Lunaclub ends up, however.
Lunaclub transforms into a Aérospatiale SA 360 Dauphin. She is armed with a Flame Sword and has the elemental ability to control fire.
Moonheart
Lunaclub's far calmer and less excitable sister, Moonheart is the medic of the team. Originally serving under Soundwave in the early days of the war, Moonheart would later join with Megaempress, where she would prove to be a valuable, loyal member.
Like her sister, Moonheart transforms into a Aérospatiale SA 360 Dauphin. Unlike her sister, she has the elemental ability to control water and wields a "Blizzard Blade".
Flowspade
Originally serving Shockwave during the war, Flowspade was won over by Megaempress's charisma and became genuinely loyal to her, officially joining the Five Guards. Now serving as a spy for "her empress", Flowspade is a protective warrior, and one who always aims to please.
Flowspade transforms into a Ferrari 458 Italia. She is armed with a "Tornado Cutter" blade and has the elemental ability to control wind.
Trickdiamond
A Decepticon with ties to damn near everyone and everything, most notably Swindle, Trickdiamond is the least trustworthy member of the 5 Guards. She is a cutthroat business woman who refuses to take anything seriously, save for her money making schemes, of which she is in charge of several.
Trickdiamond transforms into a Lamborghini Countach. She is armed with a "Quake Shield" and has the elemental ability to control earth.
Stormjoker
One of the less notable members of the Five Guards, Stormjoker originally had ties to the Insecticons, but her alt mode and general cleanliness meant she never quite fit into the group, which made her desperate for connection. However, after forming Megatronia for the first time, the shock to her core left her numb, and now she's is a bot who prides herself in her individuality, and one with a fear of intimacy. Time will tell if she outgrows this... or if she even stays with the team.
Stormjoker transforms into a Honda Goldwing GL1200. Unlike her other teammates, she has no control over any elements, but she is armed with twin vaporator cannons.
Thunderblast
Nominally a member of the 5 Guards, Thunderblast, like many other Decepticons, is obsessed with power. But rather then trying to obtain it herself, she'd rather let somebody else do the heavy lifting while she latches onto them as a romantic consort. While this normally earns her the ire of many a higher ranking Decepticon. Megaempress, on the other hand, has no qualms about this action... which is probably why she's Thunderblast's latest focus of attention. Megaempress is all too pleased to keep the femme by her side, should she have need for a replacement limb for Megatronia... or a bullet shield.
Thunderblast transforms into a speedboat. She is armed with a big ass missile launcher almost as long as she is tall, and a Neutron Assault Rifle.
Megatronia
Ultimate weapon of Megaempress and her 5 Guards, Megatronia is a powerful fusion of the 6 female Decepticons, and perhaps one of the more put together combiners, mentally speaking. Though as loud and boisterous as, say, Bruticus, she's far more stable, and that makes her a far more dangerous combatant, even for another combiner.
Megatronia, as a combined form, has no alternate mode. She is armed with Destopia, a powerful blade with a vibrating edge said to be capable to slicing through anything and everything.

leaders, deputies and healers (redraw)
huge, and I mean MASSIVE infodump under the cut, watch out!!
LEADERS
Palestar (she/her), Leader of Stormclan - Palestar’s backstory is one shrouded in mystery. All that is known about her ascent to leadership is that she killed the previous Stormclan leader - Creekstar - who was known as a callous tyrant. Rumours ooze around the festering wound that Creekstar left in her clan, and whilst her fellow leaders are viciously curious about the events that lead to her annointment as leader, Palestar is thoroughly tight-lipped about it all.
Ouzelstar (he/him), Leader of Snowclan - A traditionalist and a shithead. Ouzelstar was a virulent warrior, intent on keeping his clan free from anything he believed would threaten the tradition that Snowclan had supposedly stood on for so many years. As leader, his cutthroat attitude has calmed a bit, mostly due to his fears over dividing his clan any further - though he is not above putting down cats he deems ‘lesser’, such as his deputy, Kestrel, whom he named Half-face.
Dapplestar, (he/him) Leader of Gladeclan - The oldest of the leaders and a gentle soul. Dapplestar has had the fortune of leading Gladeclan through many of its most comfortable seasons, and as such has adopted a very mellow outlook on life. His indecisive attitude has troubled them, however, when choosing deputies. After struggling for many moons with cats who wanted to abuse power and ignore duties (or those who were very obviously just waiting for him to keel over), he sought guidance from his ancestors. Lionsong was appointed deputy after Starclan named him as the future saviour of the clan. Knowing that a prophecy has named Lionsong as his successor, and confident in his abilities to lead, Dapplestar is ready to retire and live out the last of his days in the warmth of his clan.
Sandstar (they/them), Leader of Meadowclan - It is difficult to describe Sandstar without using the word ‘bitchy’. Taking their assessment at an exceptionally young age and then going on to become deputy and leader, Sandstar has earned the confidence and precedence they carry themselves with - not that it doesn’t annoy their fellow leaders somewhat. Despite all their pride and gumption, they regularly find themselves bored by the toils of leadership and often delegate their duties to their worrywart deputy, Ravenshine. They have two mates, Mothswoop and Appledawn.
DEPUTIES
Bluehaven (he/him), Stormclan’s Deputy - In the aftermath of Creekstar’s rule and Palestar’s rise to power, Stormclan was weakened and divided. In-fighting began to stir between those who supported and those who opposed Palestar’s leadership, and to quell this discord Palestar appointed Bluehaven, one of her most outspoken opposers, as deputy. Despite his objections to her leadership, Bluehaven was shaken by Palestar’s decision, initially believing it to be a trick, and later, a test of his loyalty. He warmed up to his new role after Palestar made further efforts to rebuild her clan, including pardoning exiled cats and banning the murder of rogues (an action that Creekstar had permitted). Nowadays his relationship with Palestar is tense but professional - though there are rumours she only made him deputy because she knows he won’t usurp her like she had to Creekstar.
Kestrel (he/him), Snowclan’s Deputy - Kestrel was born in Stormclan to Pineshadow and an unknown father. Not long before his apprentice ceremony, his mother fled their home, taking him to Snowclan. There, Ouzelstar took him in, whilst his mother was turned away into the frozen wilds. From a young age Kestrel demonstrated an intuition and selflessness beyond his age - he was left significantly scarred after defending his clanmate from a badger. Though most of his clanmates afforded him sympathy and admiration for this action, there were others who were angered by it - namely Ouzelstar, who would give Kestrel the warrior name ‘Half-face’. Kestrel went on to become deputy after Thawflank stepped down to care for his son and grieve his mate, and remained in the role long after this once Ouzelstar realised his competency far exceeded Thawflank’s (and he didn’t argue with him like Thawflank did). As deputy, he puts his duties above all else, especially any personal grudges he might harbour.
Lionsong (he/him), Gladeclan’s Deputy - Lionsong suffered a rough childhood, one that he still occasionally blames himself for. Having lost both his parents at a young age, in different ways, Lionsong grew up under the guidance of his mentor, Brightnettle. As an adult, Lionsong has committed himself to serving his clan to the best of his ability, and is known by his clanmates to be resolute but compassionate - making him a perfect candidate for deputy. Having been named by Starclan as the ‘saviour of his clan’, Lionsong wonders what lies in his future, and whether his future role as leader could clash with the actions required of a hero. He has a mate named Ashfall.
Ravenshine (she/her), Meadowclan’s Deputy - Born a kittypet and abandoned by her owners, Ravenshine struggled to adapt to a life of scavenging on the streets of her twoleg-place. She found Meadowclan after trying her luck hunting in the fringes of the town and stumbling across a border patrol. Desperate and hungry, she was prepared to fight these new, strange cats for her dinner, but was surprised when they invited her to their clan. She found the warrior life suited her well (though she is prone to sunburn more than the average Meadowclan cat, due to her lack of fur) and quickly earned the trust of Sandstar. She enjoys organisation and strategising, both of which make her suited to her role as deputy - though she does have a bad habit of over-worrying, something that isn’t helped by her leader’s lackadaisical antics. She has a crush on her clanmate, Flaxeneye.
HEALERS
Lichenfrost (she/her), Stormclan’s Healer - Lichenfrost is unusually friendly for a Stormclan cat. She was apprenticed to Frostwhisker, a key figure in the turmoil Stormclan experienced under Creekstar’s leadership, until his brutal death at the claws of a clanmate. Lichenfrost was understandably devastated, having witnessed it with her own eyes, and struggled for many moons as her clan’s sole healer. Whilst the bright sting of shock has long since left, she still finds herself struggling under the weight of her grief from time to time, a feeling she mostly tries to battle with a warm smile and a good talk, and maybe only occasionally some poppyseed.
Berrystem (she/her), Snowclan’s Healer - Berrystem apprenticed under Cedarsmoke, a quiet and often unsettling cat. Almost as soon as she had earned her name, he left the clan, saying goodbye only to her. As an apprentice, Berrystem was fiercely passionate about her duties, finding solace in healing clanmates and peace in having time to herself - not to mention, a small part of her was both humbled and thrilled by the importance of her role. As she got older, however, her devotion began to waver - and almost faltered completely when the Blight hit her clan. After the death of both her apprentice, Mumblepaw, and her brother’s mate, Tumblestone, Berrystem travelled to the Peak and begged her ancestors for something, anything she could do to save her clanmates. She was met with silence. Distraught and hopeless, Berrystem started avoiding her clanmates out of guilt, spending all her time in her den tending to the dying. When the Blight finally began to clear in the warmer months, the damage was done; their small clan was smaller and Berrystem believed it was all due to her. Losing her brother to his grief and her friends to their duties, Berrystem found an unlikely bond with the only other cat who felt ostracised from the clan; Martenfur. The two would soon form a warm friendship, with Martenfur often helping Berrystem fetch those herbs that were just a little too tall for her to reach.
Littleshadow (she/her), Gladeclan’s Healer - Littleshadow became a healer far later in her life than most cats. She was 40 moons when the clan’s current healer, Duskfoot, died suddenly in a dog attack. Having been the only cat with a higher-than-average knowledge of herbs and remedies, Littleshadow stepped in to help her clan. Trained mostly by Beechbark, Littleshadow quickly learnt the ways of a healer and took up the role full-time - leaving her mate, Cindertail, behind.
Beechbark (he/him), Meadowclan’s Healer - Beechbark is the oldest of the current healers, having outlived not only his mentor but the clan’s previous leader. Despite this, he refuses to pick an apprentice on the principle that none of his clan’s current young ‘uns show enough respect and diligence for his liking. His clanmates fear that he’ll die before taking an apprentice, and his clan will be left healer-less like Gladeclan had been. Little do they know, Beechbark fears that if his clan has a newer, younger healer then they’ll see no use for him, and usher him off to the elder’s den. He’s not ready to give up his role just yet.

Say hello to Moonheart/Marisol Hernandez Catlett and Lunaclub/Luna Henandez Catlett!
Note before I continue on: I will not be writing Lunaclub with her "funny" obsession with and stalking of Starscream nor Moonheart's own "milder" fixation on Soundwave. Admiration and respect? Sure, but do not expect any of the sketchy Unite Warriors plotline here.
These two are a pair of twins from southern California! They were born to an older couple who worked in a lower end hospital, but did what they could. However, when the girls were 8 years old, they figured out that Marisol was an Outlier. The two girls were having an argument over a show when her ability activated and Luna suddenly "fell asleep". A strange sweet smell lingered in the air and, after a moment, they felt woozy themselves. They connected the dots. Their sweet little Marisol was an Outlier who could emit an anesthetic! They opened all the windows before taking Marisol outside to calm her down. They had a very serious talk that night with the girls. If Marisol's abilities were discovered by anyone else, she'd be taken away from them. The family needed to be extra careful to make sure that no one would ever break up their family like that.
And so life continued. Marisol tried her best to make sure no one would ever know and Luna kept her secret and did her best make sure no one would ever look at her twin weird.
Along the way, however, Luna started to resent having to bear the burden of her sister's secret, especially as Marisol studied to follow after their parents and was eventually selected to enter the medical track. In the eyes of others, Marisol could do no wrong. Luna, instead of being like her sister and taking a "respectable" path, chose to go into martial arts, kickboxing specifically. The pair drifted apart through the years, though Marisol would request that Luna would let her check up on her.
As civil tension rose both young women looked to joining the rebellion. Marisol asked to meet up with Luna to discuss this. Their relationship had been uncertain for a while and she thought that this could be something they could agree and come together on. It worked. Both young women signed on.
Luna may have expected or even hoped that their different skillsets would have given them plenty of space, so that she wouldn't be compared to her twin. However, then Magdalene Ellison happened. Luna was placed on a mission that "Megaempress" was leading and was brought into her circle. Then she learned that Marisol was selected as the team's medic.
Just maybe this can be the catalyst for change in their relationship...

Back in D1 I spent a long time making sure my Guardian looked nice. Which was pretty hard since the hair options were bad. They're still bad. We all know they're Still Bad. But I made my Hunter as cute as I could. I never had Regrets like I know a lotta people had about their Guardian's appearance.
I have not seen what she looks like under the helmet up close in a long. Long. LONG time. I wear a helmet during cut scenes. I wear a helmet in the Tower. My Guardian lives in their helmet. Not because she's ugly but because that's just how my character is. And if I had I'd probably be like 'no' because
Tumblr media
When we got the ability to change our faces yesterday I went to my Hunter and was like '... well that's not Eric'. That is a COMPLETELY different bald Awoken woman who is so mad. It was pretty fucking hilarious actually. The face sculpt changes Bungie made years ago had really changed her!
Tumblr media
Anyway she's cute now. Much closer to her original look and now! With lipstick! uwu
Also Bungie are cowards and only give us purple for 'dark' skin options on Awoken. Give me actual blue god damnit.

Sip of Snips 1/10: Hellish
I had to dig through my scrivener to find this. Hell doesn't exist in my original WIPs so they were all out. This is also not a word I ever use. I went 'no shot!' when a single doc and a single instance of the word came up. Hilarious.
====+====
Savant used to be way more of a field Warlock. Sometimes coming with her on scouting assignments or she called him in when she needed a big explosion. She knew Savant didn’t appreciate how insane his Light generation was but she did. Because of that they used to spend a lot more time together. But between Gup and Savant spending years of his life playing Gambit to impress Drifter they just didn’t as much. Since he’d stopped playing Gambit it was better. Mostly he hated Crucible enough to take breaks from it and he could only suffer ogling Theo so much before he needed a break from that.
Which was why he’d showed up at her door way too fucking early with a small cup of coffee and said, ‘let’s go to Hunter’s Tree’. She’d blearily taken the coffee and only thanks to Ghostie had she gotten any clothes on to go with him.
Now they were in Hunter’s Tree waiting for Lily to deliver their drinks. Eric was in the booth side of the table while listening to Savant ramble on about Crucible stuff he’d learned from Theo. He was getting a lot better at Crucible. Still couldn’t kill anyone but at least he didn’t die instantly. She was only half listening. The other half was trying to stay awake. For regular people it was a normal time to get up, about eight, for Eric it was a hellish time. Her sleep schedule was erratic and unpredictable and she was tired a lot. She nodded along whenever Savant said something at least.
Lily, a pretty Awoken with moon white hair and skin came by with their drinks and food. “Please tell me it’s what I usually get?” Eric groaned quietly at Lily.
“Nope. Yarrow wanted to see how you liked this instead. Should still perk you right up,” Lily said brightly. Stupid ass Lily. She was a coffee addict like Eric except her not-girlfriend always made her whatever coffee she wanted so she was always annoyingly chipper. “It should taste better too.”
“Fine,” she sighed.
“And for you,” Lily put Savant’s absolutely not coffee in front of him. It looked like a milk shake. Then came an array of baked goods Savant had ordered.
“Thanks, Lily,” Savant said cheerfully.
“You’re both too cheerfully awake. Shut upppp,” Eric groaned.
Lily giggled, “She’ll be awake in a little bit,” Lily promised Savant with a smile and went off to go check on some other customers.
- The silver lining
