errands
fingers fiddled with your own, lightly running over each knuckle while you both stood in line. there were many others in the line with you both; children that looked up to the animatronic beside you in wonder, yet never strayed far from their fatigued parents, or elderly that chatted over a variety of topics that always seemed to change whenever you eavesdropped. you had your phone pulled out, at first to check the time, but then the robot at your side pinged you.
sunny shit: hey, do you think we should get some dish soap??? plus, i saw this rice cooker a couple aisles over- why does a cvs sell rice cookers???????
you raised a brow, looking over and up at him, a smile playing on your lips when he tilted their head at your phone screen, faceplate unreadable with a hushed, “why…?”
a cackle was suppressed, “yeah, sun. why are you texting me when we’re literally standing right next to each other?”
their voice box let out a huff, a little staticky at the end, “well!! since you’re so addicted to it, i figured i would get your attention through your phone!!! and it worked!”
shoving the device in a pocket with a less dramatic huff of your own, you patted him on their forearm with your now free hand in congratulation, while he seemed to preen at his amazing idea, “you really are a genius, dude, but,” you squeezed fingers around a silicone palm, “we are literally holding hands.”
he lightly swung your conjoined hands at the pressure, having clasped to each other the moment you first stepped foot in the store, with a faceplate moving to hover just over the top of your head. sun stopped short though, as the person in front of the pair of you advanced to talk to a frankly overworked pharmacist, and the bot guided you into stepping in time with him to take their place, “and?”
you stared at him for a moment, then rolled your eyes, “nevermind.”
a plastic grin bonked the top of your head after a pause taken to laugh, rays spinning as the bot pulled away, and a little smile of your own spread across your face, “well then, you never answered my texting message, friend. what do you think?”
you looked away to glance at the magazine covers you could now read clearly for a moment, conspiracy theories and trendy diets and political drama bolded on the surfaces, before you reached for your phone again. grinning a little wider when sun let out a tsk, clearly thinking you were going to answer him verbally. you typed back a reply.
awesomestindividual69: dish soap ya. and we are not getting the rice cooker. cope
the sun-themed animatronic watched you type quietly, swinging your joined hands still as what you assumed was a sort of fidget the longer you both stood still, waiting for the person at the counter to finish up. three dots appeared at the bottom left of the chat, and you still found it a bit uncanny how the bot could text from their head, while you stared at the corner of your screen for all of a second before gaining a response.
sunny shit: wow… so mean <:( …you really know how to break a poor animatronic’s heart…. !!
awesomestindividual69: cry harder sunny. pots work just fine <:(
sunny shit: horrible. horrible friend….
you laughed a bit under your breath, and sun squeezed your hand gently in their palm, scoffing a bit despite that ever-present beam of his. the person talking to the pharmacist at the counter was just finishing up though, so you pocketed your phone once more to step forward, sun trailing behind with the usual pep in his step. it seemed he always wanted any first impressions to be positive, even if it was at some random cvs down the street, and in spite of being slightly annoyed at not getting a new kitchen toy. sun would definitely not let it go, you knew.
you offered a toothy smile to the pharmacist as they repeated the spiel they always did, asking how things were going and what they could do for you with a cheery tone, though you could see weariness in their face, “heyo, all is well! could i pick up my prescription? it’s for…”
government names and birthdates were exchanged, while sun stood perfectly still next to you and observed. a couple people working to pack medication in the back gaped at his tall stature, and the fact that he was most definitely a walking automaton, but he only waved politely with a tinkle of the bells tied to his wrists. you saw in your peripheral how the grand total of three workers, too little of an amount for how much they had to do, nodded back with unsure quirks of their lips while you waited for your information to be run through the system. the pharmacist you were talking to hummed as they clicked away at their computer some more, then sighed a bit, never once daring to glance at sun when regarding you with an upturned mouth, “alright, that’s 5 mg of melatonin, yeah?”
you nodded, and you could just feel how badly the animatronic next to you wanted to start yapping to the poor soul about something or other from how their body shifted, but you tugged on the one hand of his you still held. you weren’t quite sure how they would react to one of his tangents, after all. sun tilted their faceplate with a quiet click, but stayed silent after interpreting the gesture correctly, tracing a little heart into the skin over the bone of your thumb with theirs while resigning to reassessing in his surroundings for the millionth time. you had to fight to keep a straight face like an idiot, instead watching the pharmacist walk away and sift through a rack of pre-packed medication with a squeeze of the bot’s palm, squinting at the alphabetized last names until they found yours.
they walked back to the counter once more, typing in a few more things while the screen of the card reader below changed to some sort of yes or no prompt. you never really payed any attention to them after the first couple of times, where the question had asked something about if you wanted email updates or not, so you absentmindedly pressed the red button. you were just glad the little baggie being handed to you was at the very least covered and paid for already, even if sun snatched it up the moment it left the person’s grasp. you blinked, but let both the bag and the suddenness of the move go, and you spotted sun’s rays spin a bit while he hugged the bag close to his slender frame.
you instead went to smile again at the pharmacist, who seemed to pay no mind to whoever grabbed the bag, already checking you off a digital list, “thanks, i hope you have a good day!”
they nodded back, preoccupied, and just as you were about to walk off and let the next person pick up their medication, sun piped up as well while waving the hand holding your bag, “yes, yes!! thank you, stay well!”
you raised a brow at the animatronic, then looked back at the person at the counter, who seemed to finally be craning their head to look up at him with a subtly apprehensive expression. maybe they were just trying to pay no mind to him in hopes of ignoring their nervousness, but sun tried anyways, waiting until they waved back with eyes that didn’t stay on him for long, “um… yeah, ‘course. you too, bye.”
the sun seemed to grin wider at that, waving happily while you dragged him away to let the next person get their meds, some geriatric staring at your animatronic like he was the harbinger of death. you were glad your friend usually let you pull him around, because otherwise not even the metal of his arm would creak in response to your tugging. a few kids peeked from their parent’s hold in seats just as you rounded into an aisle, as they no doubt had been for a while now, but they didn’t seem to think sun going to bring the rapture upon them. more so just curious about the sunny personality, you figured.
“dude, this is supposed to be an in-and-out thing, remember? we’re not gonna start chatting it up with everyone, unless you want the cops called on us,” you muttered, speed-walking to the cleaning supplies, and you didn’t doubt that the robot heard you. his replies always tended to be snappy, and this time was no exception.
“okay, but what’s even the fun in going out then, sunshine?? and you can’t expect me to not want to at least be polite! plus, why would they even call law enforcement on lil’ ol’ me?? huh???”
he unfurled a long finger clutching your bag of meds to poke his flat cheek in a show of innocence, the plastic around his eyes almost crinkling, and you finally stopped leading him hastily by the hand to deadpan at him. the pair of you were around the dish soaps now, and sun seemed to perk up a little immediately upon noticing, while you gestured to him as a whole, “sunny, my sweetest most goodest guy, i don’t wanna be rude but… you’re a seven foot tall, bright yellow robot. you definitely catch attention, good or bad, and so we only really leave the house for things we need. otherwise, we’d probably get arrested for being alleged public menaces, or get caught by fazco, or whatever.”
sun sifted through the selection of dish soaps silently for a moment, the rays jutting in and out of his faceplate in what you could only assume was thought, before he swiveled to you with an orange colored bottle of the stuff and a forever smile, “what does does this smell like, darling?”
“…are we just ignoring me now? jeez,” nonetheless, you twisted the bottle around until you found the label, huffing a bit, “uhh, it says orange, but sun-“
“fantastic!! you enjoy orange smelling things, yes? or would you prefer something else? hmm,” he swiveled back to hunch over the rack, but you tugged their faceplate back to you just as he let go of your hand to pluck up a purple bottle, brows furrowed. sun stilled at the both of your hands gripping the sides of their dinner plate head, rays tucking in so as not to poke you, and you shook your own.
“sun, you can’t smell, and i certainly don’t give a damn about how our dishes smell as long as they’re clean. i just need you to listen, and tell me you understand,” you tried to keep your voice down as you talked in the aisle, aware of people walking by as they perused the selection of products arranged on the shelves, thumbs rubbing over plastic, carved cheeks. the sun leaned into the touch, replying back with a rare mumble himself, and he was probably avoiding your gaze with how their face tilted just the slightest to the side.
“yeah.. we know. it’s just, you don’t really think that people will be out to get us all the time if we actually get to know them, do you? i mean, friends don’t tattle on friends, yes? plus, i doubt fazco gives a hoot about us anymore, or even knows we’re alive… either of us,” sun sighed into your hands, and you imagined he would be frowning if his facial structure allowed it, still bent over to stay held, “we should’ve b-“
“no, we’re not saying that in a cvs, of all places,” you bonked your forehead against his quick to cut him off, and the faint ache that bloomed across the skin from the unnecessary force was quickly forgotten with the little snort that made its way out the animatronic’s voice box, and a smile played on your lips with brows still bunched at how he perked up just the slightest, “and i don’t think we should even be having this conversation here, in the first place, actually. but uh.. you’re probably partially right, honestly. still doesn’t mean we start being reckless though, okay? some people are sometimes more focused on hating than loving.”
you let go of their faceplate after planting a swift peck to their forehead in silent apology, and it spun for a second before clicking to a stop at an angle, sun borderline giggling while he stood up straighter once more; though, he still ducked just below where the shelves ended to avoid being stared at, “darling, i’m always right!! but i guess you have a point, too. well.. we promise to be careful if you promise to stop worrying and relax, yeah?”
he punctuated the end of his words with a plastic grin bonking the top of your head for a little longer, and you couldn’t help doing anything but relaxing at the feeling, though rolling your eyes playfully a bit still, “sure, whatever, i promise… and i’ll keep you to your end.”
“just as we will keep you to yours,” the sun snickered, and you looked him over with a hum, shaking your head at him and how he hugged the items in his hands close.
“uhuh. anyways, ready to split? i could use some food in my stomach,” a gesture to the nearest cashier, and sun gasped loudly, which made you flinch a bit. you didn’t even have time to shoot him a questioning look, already being swept to the front of the cvs with mechanical fervor, and your eyes widened at how you were now the one being dragged.
“sunshine, we MUST get you home!! can’t have you starving, no no!! i’ll cook you something nice and filling.. !!! i learned a new recipe, y’know!!”
“buddy, calm down! i’m not dying-“
“ohh, but you ARE without the proper nutrition, dear!!! how could i have let this happen-??!!”
“wh- god… well, at least you’re not still on that rice cooker…”
“i’m such a terrible housemate… it’ll be the most delicious of meals, i swe- …OH!! THAT REMINDS ME-!!”
“NO.”
“really? you just took the melatonin, starlight.”
you had tugged on a hoodie with mild haste, now sliding your socked feet into slides with keys in hand. the moon hovered close to you while you stretched a bit, shuffling towards the door, before your hand went to push him back by their silicon chest draped with a simple t-shirt, “don’t care. i haven’t checked the mail in weeks, and i’ll forget to for a million more if i don’t do it now.”
“too bad, we’ve told you to for a while. will remind you again in the morning. come to bed,” he let you stop him, you knew, just as you knew that the plastic fingers carding through your hair were a device of manipulation. you swatted them away, ignoring the small grumble that came from their voice-box, as you had succumbed too many times to count.
a huff, and you turned to open the front door, briskly walking out, “nah, i’m good. i’ll be back in five, text me if anything.”
moon’s head peeked out of the doorframe as you turned down the corridor, heading for the apartment’s mailbox, glancing back at the leds with a rub of an eye only at the sound of his voice once more, “fine. if not back in five minutes, will get you, brat.”
that made you laugh, “oh no!!! not that word !!!! anything but that !!! i’m so scared!!!!”
“… should be, bratty brat,” their faceplate sinked back into your apartment and the words were distant, door shutting with a quiet click of finality. you just shook your head with a lingering grin as you rounded down to the stairwell.
you were sure the melatonin was kicking in.
your fingers fiddled with the small ring of keys you held in your hand, squinting when you missed the keyhole of your mailbox a couple times before finally slotting what was, thankfully, the correct key in and twisting. you were mostly just greeted with what seemed to be various scams and a bill or two, but your head felt fuzzy as you looked through the envelopes, not really registering any of the words you were reading. damn, you really missed your bed, actually. you probably shouldn’t have gotten up just as you were settling in.
so, you opted to actually read the mail in your apartment instead of ripping the envelopes open right when you got them out the mailbox, like you usually did. you shut the little door to the box, then proceeded to try and insert the wrong key in the keyhole to lock it up again, which resulted in another fumble session for the right one. eventually, you got it after a couple tries and questioning the purpose of anything at all, and sighed as you pocketed the ring of keys again. you patted your designated mailbox as a goodbye.
the mailbox was only a bit of a ways away from the building’s front door, and you figured you could spare a minute to check out the view from the windows adjacent to it. a couple steps towards one closest to you revealed the outside world, with its grey pavement and semi-dried grass, and a sky up above that was barely able to let the stars shine despite the night. curse light pollution. you leaned your head forward to rest your forehead on the cool glass.
it felt nice, but you dimly remembered that the window was probably not as clean as you would like to hope, which made you pull away with a grimace. you rubbed off the invisible germs with the back of the hand that wasn’t holding your mail. as you mused silently that it probably would’ve been better to just wash your face when you got back, you heard an all-too familiar mumble behind you, “what are you doing?”
a yelp almost tumbled out your mouth, but you bit your tongue as you whirled around to face the unamused animatronic, arms crossed in a way that was indicative of the fact that you were about to receive a lecture. or just be silently judged, as was commonplace for your moon. so, your response was less of an answer to that question and more of a hushed complaint, defensive, “wh- what are you doing sneaking up on me in the dark like that?! i could’ve had a heart attack and- and keeled over and died!!”
you’re not sure how a face with an eternal grin carved into it could be so clearly deadpan. maybe the tone helped express it further, “boo hoo, brat. it’s been four minutes and fifty nine seconds.”
a brow of yours raised, “so? you didn’t have to-“
“now five minutes,” moon hummed, faceplate tilting to an angle with three clicks. you felt the urge to kick him in the shin, but you knew that would hurt you unbelievably more than it would him.
“… seriously? you didn’t have to actually come get me, man. i would’ve been back soon,” you narrowed your eyes up at him, and he stared at you for a moment, before their faceplate snapped back to its original position, “you need sleep.”
you only caught that the words were spoken with a mild frustration after a good few seconds of processing, and you just waved him away after the fact, simply walking away from the annoyed bot and back to the hallway that lead to your apartment, “and you need to stop hovering so damn close all the time.”
“language,” he grumbled, trailing behind you soon enough, slouching as he walked. you didn’t need to look behind you to confirm it.
“english.”
“….. stupid,” he snorted, nudging you playfully in the back, which caused you to sway forwards a tad before you caught yourself. it had you smiling too-wide. he then proceeded to actually address your very thoughtful advice, unlike you ignoring his, “we will go hover around others and scare children, then. will forget about you, explore the world.”
that made you turn back around to look at him, snickering under your breath while the moon looked back with something you couldn’t quite identify. you probably seemed disheveled, you thought to yourself, “really, now?”
the response didn’t seem to require much thought, “no.. joking. we will wait for you. wouldn’t be much fun without.”
your smile must’ve dropped to something as surprised as how you felt, because he ticked their faceplate to the side again just the slightest, eyes still trained on you as you took a moment to respond, “really?”
“… really,” he reached out to pat your head, and you missed the slight hesitation due to how heavy your eyes had grown with fatigue. you turned away a bit, head going blank for a minute, before you just sighed, “i do need to sleep.”
“we know,” moon scoffed, his hand leaving your head to go limp at his side once again, before his tone grew to lilt in the same mischievous manner you so often dreaded, “wanna be carried? rock-a-bye babyy, on the treetop.”
you rolled your eyes, but couldn’t conceal small smile, “whatever- i’m not a baby, you jerk. i can walk by myself.”
“could’ve fooled us,” he moved to walk at your side, only really taking one big step before matching up with your pace again, faceplate craned down to chuckle at you.
“don’t care, didn’t ask,” it earned a click of your tongue alongside the words, before you swapped the mail you held from one hand to the other, and reached out to grab his with the newly free fingers. you weren’t really annoyed at all, you knew. moon took your hand without a second thought, plastic and metal thumb lightly running over each knuckle as per habit, and you felt a comfortable warmth settle in your rib cage; just another turn, and your apartment would be there, three doors down.
“…thank you.”
“for?”
“just- in general, i think.”
“hmm… okay. you’re welcome.”
“yeah. and also, i don’t think… i don’t think kids would be scared of you.”
“…”
“okay- i mean at first, sure, but you guys are very sweet! kids would like being around you again, if you would let them get to know you.”
“…. might be biased, starlight-“
“hey!”
“-but.. we’ll see. should get to bed for now, though.”
“..okay.”

[Deity meme, for Andreus]
Placed with reverence, white gloves of lace. They are delicate, the seams finished-- the gloves themselves feel like silk to the touch. Still, the material is sturdy, will not tear so easily despite its appearance.
A broach. Wings of silver curl around the base; hard to tell if the shape is fae or their more sinister cousins of the night. Perhaps it is both. The base is a ruby with a star in its core, a hard find, hard sought.
Lastly, a vase of Grecian make. The porcelain has been polished until it gleams. It is hard to tell if the vessel is meant for ashes or wine.
If my Muse was a Deity, what Offerings Would you Leave at Their Shrine?
((Secret Off-menu Guest Muse addition!))
Now this is fascinating.
The prince is wise enough to not think of these as offerings, lest he bring about the ire of the gods of his land, regardless of the true intent behind the... gifts.
The gloves and the broach are taken enthusiastically and tried on. Expertly made, beautiful; he'd even dare to say perfectly made with him in mind. A solid amount of time is spent in front of the mirror in his room, trying various outfits he's collected over the years to match the gloves and broach just right.
The vase does not arrive until later.
When it catches Andreus' eye in the reflection of the mirror, he pauses, turns around.
It's not a trick of the light.
He slowly pulls off the gloves and broach and sets them aside, almost instantly forgetting them as he approaches the vase. He hesitates to touch it for longer than he'd like to admit. It's cold and smooth, his fingertips gliding effortlessly over the body of the vase.
He didn't think he'd see one of these again.
To the untrained eye, yes, it would be impossible to know what such a vessel is for. But not Andreus - this vase came from the lands of his home. A hydria -- not bronze, so it wasn't for ashes -- meant for water, primarily, but used to transport other liquids as well. Small enough to be a hydriskos.
This gift is cradled with the same reverence with which it was given, with the prince almost kneeling as he rests his forehead against the lip of the hydriskos.
Gods, he misses home. The thought grips his heart, not for the first time, in an aching hold. The wine, the fruits, the clothes, the music, the smell of the Mediterranean Sea on the winds of the cliffs, he misses it all.
Perhaps... this is a sign from Olympus that he was heard.
He spends a while longer alone with the vase before he finally lifts his head, takes the hydriskos by both horizontal handles carefully -- ever so carefully -- and heads downstairs, painstakingly gentle in his steps as to not disturb the vessel at all.
"Icarus? Something was left in my room from home.."

Wolf Hunter by Harper A. Brooks
Falling for her target wasn’t part of the plan.
Tasha Ward exists as a phantom. Drifting from place to place, she can blend in to the point of invisibility—a trait highly useful for a deadly assassin like her. But after years of perfecting her skills, she wants to be seen.
No… It’s more than that. She wants the alpha of the murderous Redcliff wolf pack to look her in the eye as she plunges her knife straight through his heart.
Traveling deep into the pack’s territory alone, Tasha’s prepared for war... until she finally faces the pack’s ruggedly sexy leader and does the one thing she’s never done before. Hesitate.
As the new alpha, Reid Holden doesn't agree with many of the traditions his father believed in. Such as taking a woman to sacrifice once a year. Unfortunately, being on top means you’re always a target, and there are venomous snakes everywhere. Even in his own family.
Tasha’s meant to be another enemy, but Reid is finding it impossible to hate her. It doesn’t help that his wolf has already claimed her as its own. She may want him dead, but she may be the one person he’ll end up risking everything for.
Sizzling romance meets pulse-pounding suspense in Wolf Hunter, the latest gripping novel from USA Today Bestselling Author Harper A. Brooks!

moonkissed
the sun set on a peaceful day, and the moon made itself known. for some reason though, it decided to do so while you were in the bathroom, “friend.”
you pursed your lips at the tapping on the closed door, “moon, i’m literally taking a shit. give me a minute.”
“language.”
“whatever, then i’m taking a little booty-pooty, okay?”
“actually, might be worse. nevermind.”
“that’s what i thought. away with thee.”
“mean.”
you hadn’t really taken longer than two minutes after that, but you opened the door to find your robot keeling over dramatically in the hallway, as if dying from the agonizing wait he had to endure. you kicked at his leg lightly, snickering when he exaggeratedly jolted and writhed in pain, “oh, come on, dude. really?”
he didn’t move after that, dead still, with not even a claw at the air surrounding you, “how could you. too long. killed me. dead.”
a sigh, and you promptly turned around, headed for the kitchen, “tragic.”
not even five steps away, and the moon was by your side once more, “it’s late.”
you raised a brow at him, gently punching his arm from where he shuffled beside you, which earned you one back, “the sun just set, big guy. i’m pretty sure there’s still some light left, actually.”
a peek out the blinds confirmed it to be true, the sky still a mix of light pinks and purples that slowly were dissolving to the dark blues of night, and maybe you stood observing for too long. moon tugged at your shirt collar, lightly so as not to choke you, and you took the cue to step away, “never too early for sleep.”
you squinted at him, batting away his hand, to which he complied, and then made your way towards the kitchen again, “you’re just saying that cause you have an agenda. what if i wanted to hang out with you?”
he stayed silent for a moment, watching you look for some candy in the lower cabinets to snack on, “you hang out with us every day, star. not going anywhere. sleep.”
everything was in the upper cabinets, and you didn’t feel like getting a stool to give you the couple inches of height you needed to be able to reach. you turned to him, making a face while raising your arms in request, while he almost seemed to laugh in amusement, “i will sleep, just later. i wanna get some gummies now, though.”
his faceplate clicked as he rotated it to the side, hands reaching out to hover at your sides, “hm, magic word?”
you deadpanned at him, “seriously?”
“seriously.”
you pressed your hands together as if praying to some benevolent god, when really the animatronic bordered on the chaotic evil spectrum, “pretty pleaaseee? with a cherry on top??”
there was a low laugh from him, and he rested his palms on your hips, “and extra whipped cream? with the promise you will sleep at decent time, for once?”
rubbing at your forehead, you nodded along, “yeah, yeah, extra whipped cream, and i promise. can i get the gummies now?”
“of course.”
and with that, the moon lifted you into the air with no effort at all, holding you in place at his mid-torso while you wrapped your legs around him to stay secure, and rummaged through the cabinet until you found the gummies you wanted. you cracked the suckers open, and moon didn’t bother to put you down for a minute, supporting you with one arm and flicking your forehead playfully with a free hand, his faceplate slowly ticking back into place, “happy?”
you gave him a scowl as you popped a gummy into your mouth, rubbing at your forehead before flicking his in return, to which he gave you a less than impressed look that you pretended not to acknowledge with a laugh, “happy.”
“don’t understand why you love sugar so much.”
“put me down, you heathen.”
the next couple hours were spent playing video games, catching up on any work and the like, with the moon peering over your shoulder to mock you when you died or quietly redirect to the correct answer. you were torn on punching him in his flat face or giving him a fat hug, though you considered the former hurt way more, so a hug was chosen; he was confused, but let it happen, soothingly rubbing circles into your back. the pair of you were laying on the couch now, you being on your phone, almost doomscrolling, if not for the fact that moon pointed out something he found funny in the show he was watching every once in a while. the celestial animatronics were always very interested in any form of media, be it reality tv shows to puppet plays.
they must be glad to have the entertainment, a thought. you had looked up once more to catch a glimpse of moon staring at the television with rapt interest, only to find him looking right back at you silently. you raised a brow, “moon?”
he tapped his finger on one of your legs idly, that you had spread out onto him with little to no grumbling from the robot, and hummed to himself, “you promised.”
you checked the time on your phone again, groaning a little, “wh- really? it’s not even that late!”
moon narrowed his eyes, “promised.”
huffing, you shoved your cellular device into a pocket haphazardly, hauling yourself off the couch, “whatever, i regret it.”
with that, you started walking towards the bathroom, but not before yet again witnessing a contortionist trick that the robot did to flip off the couch and onto the floor beside you to follow along. you cringed at the fact that several bones would be broken if a human ever tried to even attempt that, while the moon held up it’s index and thumb in the shape of an L in your face, grin cheeky, “offended gasp.”
“apathetic scoff,” you didn’t laugh, not even a huff of air, but his smile still seemed to stretch at the edges as if placid while you opened the door, moon flicking on the dimmest of nightlights you could find at the store.
you thus began the tedious task of brushing your teeth, the animatronic placing floss and mouthwash on the sink from behind the mirror, while you squeezed out a bead of toothpaste on your brush. you gave him a grateful look, and moon simply ruffled your hair a little, smoothing it back into place when your expression fell into a scowl, chuckling. after the whole shebang was done, you presented an exaggerated smile to your animatronic roommate to show off the now cleaned teeth, which prompted a congratulatory thumbs up from said animatronic accompanied with a gentle push out the door. the door clicked behind you as you complained, trying to give him your best stink eye, “do i have to sleep? now?? it’s barely 11 o’clock!”
he didn’t have to push you anymore though, you trudged your way down the hall by your own accord, moon in tow, “yes.”
a high pitched, mocking “yEs” left you at his response, moon snickering at the stupid face you made to accompany it. you laughed at it yourself a bit, even if not at all thrilled to be laying in bed so soon.
you stared at the ceiling, not even able to count the popcorns due to the darkness. the only light source was the moon’s eyes, led’s sometimes flicking to you to check if you were still conscious, before going back to whatever they did in their computer head. it was maybe the eighth time when he decided to speak up, “can’t?”
a sigh, “what time is it?”
there was a pause, and you traced out the outline of stars you could barely see on their dumb jester pants, the bot patting your head in an attempt to soothe, “1:37.”
you groaned in annoyance, gripping the blanket tighter around you as you curled into him a bit more, arms meeting you half-way, “man.. at least i tried? ‘m sorry.”
he leaned down a little, the bottom of their faceplate bonking the top of your head, and it made you smile a little despite how your eyes burned when you closed them, “no apologizing, it’s okay.”
“okay,” you wrapped your arms around him, the latter reciprocating a light squeeze with arms that were already holding you prior, and you hummed, “need to get more melatonin.”
the animatronic traced the same star shapes into your back, “we will remind you to call. gummies do not work.”
you made a face at him, but didn’t move in the slightest, “i don’t like calling the doctor’s.. and the gummies taste good!! leave me alone!”
eyes looked at you for a minute, before hands began to push you off and untangle the animatronic out from under you, but you held on, “PFFT- wait, not literally!”
there were lilting chuckles, patting your back as hands pulled you back to rest against him, an amused moon relaxing back into his position to now rub at the skin under your eyes, “in the morning.”
you deadpanned, “evil.”
there were a couple more bonks pressed to your hair, which elicited a couple smiley grumbles from you, “the most.”
