writing patterns (tag game)

I read Jedi Mordsith's post with a general tag and thought I'd try it. The game is to list the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics, and see if there's a pattern. I have no idea so here goes. I don't know how to do the links. But they are on Ao3.

Vegas and Kinn are Mordsith and Confessor.

Hear me out.

Because we know Vegas uses pain to train his loyalists. He takes them from their comfort zones, isolates them, trains them till he is all they can think about, and then he releases them back into the world to cause havoc.

On the other hand, we have Kinn who doesn't do any of that. He exists in a world where the system has been created in order for people to love and respect him, regardless of his failures.

While Vegas uses violence, Kinn commands respectability. He's the heir to the legitimate business. Vegas is the heir to illegal one. Big and Ken are testaments to the success of both types of power. Because Big gave up his life to protect Kinn's happiness, and Ken would rather die than report what Vegas was doing.

Their paths may waver from time to time, but Kinn's and Vegas' destinies are set on the same course, with Vegas always having to feel like the fake one because he has to struggle for the things that come easy to Kinn. This is the same sentiment the Mordsith harbour towards Confessors. The idea that they have to work for what fate freely gives to Confessors is what makes them jealous and ruthless.

But when they work together?

Oh my god, Cara and Kahlan?

There was not one more iconic duo on LOTS than those two. No one can change my mind. And through it all, Cara retained her brash trigger-happiness. I'm not saying Kinn is a stainless hero. But neither was Kahlan. They were both careful about the enemies they made and for the most part, had a cleaner image. But when paired with the darker sides of their coins, Kahlan and Kinn had and have the potential to be unstoppable.

A long time ago I watched Sword of Truth series. I bought the book. I hate to admit it but I was really revved up to get to when the Mordsith got Richard. That turned around really really fast. I didn’t go forward reading that part for months and months. I didn’t think I would get that terrified and panicked reading a book. If you know you know. but I must have been traumatized so much that I was right there with Richard experiencing his emotions even when he sadly fell in love with her. I can see why. I feel why.
