would you ever be interested in making a tutorial on how to draw lycaon? i've admittedly never drawn anything furry or anime style before and i really want to learn how to draw lycaon
your art style is very beautiful btw and i absolutely adore all of your lycawise art as well <3
im not rlly good at these but i can try ......
for how to draw anthro/furry i suggest looking for actual furry artists, they would be more of a help! i can only show how i draw lycaon specifically + some observations/tips
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i basically just draw the same like when i draw human characters but just add the tube like shape for his snout, its like pushing nose chin area a bit forward etc. (again, for that look for furry artist to help w that, they prob have useful tips since this is more of their specialty than mine)
Tumblr media
lycaons snout is short and nicely shapey with a strong chin. his neutral expression is a bit frowney. what helps is to look at him closely and draw these simple shapes exaggerated and then smooth them out to look more natural. also add all his floof!!! it goes over smoothly into his hair n ears, lycaon takes great care of himself and grooms himself nicely so we gotta find a good middle thing between his immaculate appearance and floofy wolf nature
idk if this was of any help but good luck!!!

Hihi I searched ur blog to see if anyone’s asked anything similar and didn’t find anything but!!! I love your Shapey style. Do you have artists that inspire you? And do you have any recommendations on how to draw more loosely and shapey? Ty 💕💕
yeas, mainly kficc, owainigo, sanctus-ingenium, kanotynes and momopatchi.. theyre all here on tumblr but some post on other social media too
as for putting more shapes on ur art id say to try and force urself to approach lines differently, a normal exercise would be to draw in a continuous line (not lifting the pen from the surface youre drawing on), it makes you more conscious on how much pressure you use PLUS youre not allowed to overthink stuff (extra points if you dont erase anything) PLUS it makes your art gain movement.. potentially (also drawing w/o erasing in general is very very useful too, and dont be afraid of making rough or messy strokes or ILL FIND YOU!!!)
anyways thats just one exercise i do from time to time, youd also like to pay more attention on line weight (theres a billion tutorials on it and i sucks at explaining..), and well.. observe stuff. which shapes are the main ones that make the Thing look the way it Does, simplify, exaggerate, have funsies🎉

Bucket! Bucket, My favorite chibi artist!
Tumblr media
I think I did something wrong. Help, I beg of you.
Tumblr media
(if you need clarification on something I said let me know or if you need specific answers. also looking up references and tutorials are always good^^) Anyway
Tumblr media
Your artwork is already really good! It's a very cute style anyway I would recommend making the neck a bit longer, and giving more shape to the head. (Note: my artwork has more sharper lines and I noticed your style is more rounded and has more softer lines so I would recommend making it suited for your style) also maybe making the legs a bit longer if you want.^^
Tumblr media
Here's examples of my chibi's,(just giving you examples there isn't a correct way to draw more cartoonish/chibi artstyles) it's kinda rushed my bad. Anyway my portions are a bit more exaggerated and shapey, chibi's are more simplified usually so I would recommend making your shapes easier to read. (also a thing I noticed with chibi's is the heads are usually bigger so I would experiment with what you like portions wise.)
Tumblr media
You got this 😎 your Branzy drawing is already coming out great. Keep up the good work

6 for the ask game?
6 - 2000s western cartoons, its a more explicit inspiration now but i feel like my art became more cartoony without me really realising it until recently. aside from the western cartoons i watched this year, i definitely have reassassination to thank for my overly exaggerated, shapey current style, as the wide range of characters (and wide age range - the youngest character is 8 and the eldest is like 90) called for an end to my same face syndrome and more variety in body types.

There's something about the Hazbin Hotel/Helluvaboss art style
that I just cannot handle. As in, physically. I've never experienced anything like the instantaneous, visceral aversion I have to this aesthetic and it's both bewildering and upsetting because otherwise I think I probably might enjoy it. I just can't look at it for any length of time.
It's not the stylization per se, Promare, say, fuckin slaps, but every frame of these shows is just so exhausting. It feels like it's at 110% all the time, my eyes can never rest because it's at once extremely cartoony and extremely busy. I glance at one gifset that's made its way across my dash and immediately need a cuppa and a nap.
I think, in general, the biggest advantage of cartoon stylization is to make things more readable, so you can get the gist of it at a glance. And yeah, I can kind of sort of do that here. But the second I actually attempt to fully parse the frame, my eyes conclude they'd rather pop out of my skull and try their luck as ping-pong balls. The designs are at the same time super exaggerated, caricaturesque but also very patterned and intricate, so there's two layers of contradictory hyper-stylization. Actually, make that three layers, because the exceedingly vibrant and/or near monochromatic color palette plus a lack of shading flattens the frame and makes things even less distinctive. Value range is often woeful and very few screenshots I've seen pass the thumbnail test.
What gets me about this immediate reflex to look away whenever I see a snippet of these shows is that in isolation, the above are all things I usually crave. I am never more bored than when I see animation aping realism rather than leaning into its inherent strengths, I relish elegant, shapey character design, neon is my favorite color and expressive shading (or lack thereof) trumps "accurate" shading every time. I feel like I should enjoy these visuals but I just can't :(

TBWF Reread Ch1
This one will have spoilers for further in the series, so read at your own risk if you aren't up to around ch25.
Tumblr media
I especially like how the chapter covers look in the screentone heavy style of the early series.
"The sky looked noticeably vast today" connects back to the first color page in chapter 1 and the panel of Ren looking directly upward as he falls, continuing that small motif through the start of the series. This is also the only time Ren's dad is mentioned to my knowledge, with confirmation he's dead. Sheds some light onto what Ren's life was like prior, though you don't really see what his life was like until Springtime of Yuuth gives a look at what his home situation is like.
ch01p02 inverts ch00p14, with a mostly black page where Yuu calls to Ren at the top for ch00p14 and Lord Devil speaks Ren's name at the bottom of ch01p02. The difference is that while the ch0 page is from Yuu's point of view and thus the black section is solid, in ch1 it's from Ren's point of view so we get his internal monologue cutting into the void.
ch01p04 is the first full art page aside from the color view of the sky, an impactful way to show Ren's new situation. "Please tell me this is heaven" paired with obviously demonic imagery is a nice bit of irony.
ch01p05 shows an early look at Ramia's powers. It's visually consistent with when we see them actually used a while later, which is a nice touch. LD being a smug bastard and Ren being in denial on page 6.
The pages of Ren seeing the fabricated vision LD created followed by LD saying "are you ready to face reality" are great before you know but absolutely masterful when you have full context. On a first read, Ren is seeing his own horrible death, being forced to cope with it, and having to accept the situation is a great way of setting in the series' tone after the lighter but ominous chapter 0. On a reread though, when you know Ren didn't die and that the vision is fully fabricated, it's a sickening scene to see just how deeply Lord Devil manipulated Ren from the start.
ch01p12 is the first obvious sign of LD's bad vibes, with the speed lines and way the text "grab" is written showing the forcefulness of LD grabbing Ren, followed by the emotionally manipulative "you should be happy". Ren on p13 is so indignant that he has the courage to object to that, but even Ramia speaking (no offense Ramia but you're not the most intimidating) is enough to get him to meekly back down immediately. Page 14, LD smirks as Ren is falling apart, while Ramia notes his reaction.
p15, with the manipulative "I'm thinking of giving you a chance" Lord Devil is framing himself as oh-so-generous and benevolent. Ren is still in shock and highly vulnerable to manipulation and suggestion, and that's exactly what will happen.
My Art
This idea is something I had for a while, but I ended up just cutting my losses after starting over multiple times. I couldn't get what I had in my head down. In my head, LD would be more hunched forward, the arm shape even more exaggerated and... shapey? is that a term? as he looms over the scene. I imagined more of an abstract transition from his robes into the scene, but I didn't really know how to communicate that so his robes are just sort of opening like curtains here. Doesn't really make sense since it looks like he's just directly on top of it rather than looming over it.
I realized he looks like he has no legs in this drawing and I tried to lasso and move things, but I wasn't able to move everything at once since it was all on different layers and gave up.
For the future drawings I'm definitely just going to do sketches.
