However, you Hit the nail with the panel format issue, Dont get me wrong, telling an arc in few panels have also been used also in the eddsworld classic era before but it was fun to read cuz they weren't heavily storylin arc ( example : Mystery ) (1/2)

i feel it would be better for these longer comics to be made into shorts instead of comics. the weekly upload of 4 panel story comics is a nightmare. ive criticised TBATF for the same problem, uploading 4-panel comics in what is meant to be an outrageously long webcomic with lore and a lot of events. theres already a remedy for this because eddsworld HAS done longer comics before, and even if it hadn't its never too late to break the imaginary rules v, not everything, especially longer ideas with dead air in the middle, has to be formatted as a four-panel funny

as for the comic itself

its bound to make fans incredibly impatient knowing the next 5+ weeks are going to be about this particular thing that has very little pay off

it feels worth mentioning the pizza time comic which is another 4 parter which lacked any substance and left a lot of fans incredibly disappointed. if you want to put your ocs into your comics as part of the crew there is nothing wrong with that really but youve got to understand that a lot of people are not going to be interested in the mishaps of oc 1 and oc 2 instead of edd and his friends in a series called Eddsworld

very long and i personally did not find it entertaining at all

the problem is definitely not that theyre multi-parters but rather that theyre not self-contained multi-parters. edd made plenty of multi-part comics! but each of them also work as stand-alones, see:

this style of comics, funnies, originates from news papers - so if you were going to make a multi-part comic you would HAVE to make it funny on its own because its no good to get the paper one week, look at the funnies and the funnies dont even have a joke (or at least not a joke thats funny without the extra context). people need to be able to tune in whenever and still get the joke. the modern multi-parters dont account for that and instead make the next part without consideration as to whether its REALLY funny enough to be made into a comic or not.

the comics are made so you can crack the jokes youd have a hard time putting in the show, either because theyre too short to be animated on their own or because the situation is too specific to be organically put in the show (like the rubber one above). if the comic isnt going to have a joke one week, maybe its better to store that in the idea bank for an actual eddisode!

Announcing a fandom community server!

Hi, guys! This is sorta directed at my followers but also Obey Me fans (and other fandom people).

I mentioned, like, a looong time ago I wanted to do a community server, but I didn't really understand how to use Discord, but since then I've been in a zine, a few collabs, and hosted my own collabs (currently running one for Lucifer 👀). So, I have the experience and knowledge of running a server now!

My urge to create a fandom-centric server has really bloomed and after sitting on the it for a year, I feel confident enough yet still anxious to release a link of an invitation to it (found at the bottom)! It's still fresh, and bots haven't been implemented yet, but I really want to push this out.

I myself am in a lot of different fandoms, obviously Obey Me, but also Baldur's Gate, Stardew Valley, Kingdom Hearts, Persona games, What in Hell is Bad, a few obscure fandoms (like Alien Stage and Touchstarved) and older ones (Homestuck), so I have all the intentions to have this server be inclusive to webcomics, anime and manga and adjacent media, games from standard video games to phone games, graphic novels, books, otome and romance stuff, indie media like web series, cartoons, and games, and more as it grows.

I also want this server to be a hub for writers and artists to share their stuff they're too awkward or anxious to post and receive feedback, and as a place to get to know fellow-minded people in shared fandoms. AUs, theories, headcanons, crossovers, self-inserts, your MCs/OCs - all allowed!

A few things to note:

This is a fandom community server, but it might start out as Obey Me heavy because I'm trying to direct attention to that fandom since that's the one I am mostly in and participated in most things as a fan.

Adults and minors (16+) are allowed, but there are rules implemented that divide channels into SFW and NSFW categories and channels.

Writers, artists, content creators, cosplayers, fans that dabble, etc. are enthusiastically welcomed

The server can also function with channels regarding roleplays and self-publishing (commissions, Etsy shops, etc.)

I really want this server to kinda be a central spot for small fandoms or dying fandoms (like Obey Me) or old fandoms or growing fandoms and ones in-between basically non-existent and probably way too big. I want the server to be a community of different fandoms and the people that incorporate them, and I want it to be a fun place to just either relax with other fans and share works you like or works you've made or as a place to just dip in a silently lurk to look at what people are talking about or look at what is shared or as a place to lose your fucking minds when updates happen or something wild or devastating in the media occurs.

I want this to be a respectful but enjoyable place to come to and join and feel like you can invite friends or maybe even make friends!

Hard rules:

Before entering though, the server has a soft screening process for people to join.

Verifications will be done by me to make sure no one with ill intentions has a chance to cause harassment or harm to members. Fandoms can be toxic and mean in public places like here and Twitter, but this server will be, to the best of my ability, a space away from that.

Absolutely no pedophilic content is allowed. Like, none. It'll be one of the fastest things to get you kicked and banned and blacklisted.

There are rules and specific channels for certain ships and certain explicit content that can be talked about in the server if there are any questions.

This server is for fandom communities and politics and religious hot takes are not applicable here. This is a designated relief zone and none of that is really welcome.

So.. What am I doing?

In a simple sense. I have little OC ideas that I want to yeet into the world. Ideas that relate to my current life and inspirations. But I'm not really into making webcomics, or writing detailed scenes, or animating it, or just blabbering about it. So I thought... Why not do it all in a dedicated side blog?

I was inspired by Puuung's Love is In The Small Things yt shorts, the character dynamics in Loveless by Alice Oseman, and my current relations with my friends and queerplatonic partner.

"So... Am I basically making a romance series?" Not exactly. I want to create something with queer representation from my aromantic asexual perspective. Exploring the idea of alterous relationships and ideations, if I might add. If you don't know what that means, neither do I. Alterous attraction is a strange thing and isn't easy to define. I say it's the "unknown attraction" or the "wtf attraction" because you can't tell why you like someone. After all, alterous is defined as "outside of platonic, sexual, and romantic attractions." But what does that mean? Well, I can't say, but perhaps I can show you. A Quiet Story is a visual tale of Zephyr Dagger and Amanita Forrest. From strangers to whatever they are now, you'll see their relationship bloom over time. I plan on making little comic strips, written scenarios, a snippet of a memory, short animatics, etc. I will also be sharing doodles, concept art, and headcanons from myself or others.

Some law of talos facts and info off the top of my head (by someone who's very hyper fixated and wants people to know more about it!!!!)

Apparently some people just didn't know that law of talos was an oc tournament 😭??? I thought that was basic info but I guess not! I'm not counting it being a tournament as a fact but more people not knowing (also some people didn't know unknown person had comics for before and after each animation??? There's literally YouTube videos with both idk what to tell you guys 💀)

Unknown persons entries are the most popular, but the 5th animation is non canon! The canon ending was by the winner Blacklillian but it's currently lost media :( there's a description of it on the lost media page, a few meantions of plot points on the tv tropes (example)

An ask + drawing related to what happened to Karl after on unknown person's tumblr (unknownpsn) we can also gather a tiny bit from the winner announcement post comments, the main point I've noticed is people talking about their disappointment in the lack of action and badly done Karl but praising the more satisfying ending. There was also apparently an epilogue by Blacklillian but that is also currently lost :(

Blacklillians entrees (along with the majority of others) are lost media! Some info can be gathered/interpreted from the lost media page and the tv tropes page (both linked at the bottom along with the intro/winner post for the contest and the wiki) A few entries are up although it's few and far between but I do encourage you to look for them on competitors' deviant art pages (I'll edit this and add list who's is up in a little while) here's a chart of the tournament though!

I really like your style. Was it intentionally designed, or did you just sort of fall into it over time?

I wouldnt say I intentionally designed it, as in I haven't sat down and Engineered a specific style, and instead it was more of me finding what I liked and wanted to incorporate into my style.

You could probably trace my style back to its influences. I used to draw really round shapes (I still do but like they were just ovals and circles...I guess i just like that shape) until I started watching How to Draw Anime tutorials in middleschool T-T (shoutout to Mark Crilley lol)

But when I first joined social media back in 2016, I found all these crazy artists with really unique styles that really influenced me. I was drawn towards artists like star_bite/prince_canary and rawrgyle/grassflu who have very dynamic expressions and character poses :0 (also they ended up working on a Batman and Superman project respectively and how wild is it that my icons from forever ago now work on projects aligned with my current interests!!!) And as you get exposed to different artists you get exposed to the many ways you can Draw things and along with your natural affinities towards certain things (such as me being attracted to Bright and Bold colors and Shaped styles) you kind of naturally build a style.

And part of that is also just having fun Trying things out? Sometimes I wouldnt even try to emulate their style as much as I tried to just...do what they were doing? As in making my ocs and putting them in fun poses, and doing color palette trends and such etc.

I hope that helped! If you're curious I can break down some of my style checkpoints over the years. As you can see there was still some major anime influence in my style back then when I first joined social media around 2015/2016

Around that time, I also discovered the fandom around the Cartoons popular at the time, so I drifted away from anime and drew things like gravity falls/steven universe/otgw etc etc so it got Rounder I guess. I really liked how stylized characters looked and got obsessed with Shape Language and assigning characters distinct Shapes (box vs triangle vs circle etc). I also read a lot of webcomics and stuff like that so those played a part I guess

And then around 2019 I saw more artists drawing anime fanart with really sharp angles, which was completely different but so cool to look at so I tried to incorporate more angles into my art. I still had that very cartoony style but tried to push the Sharpness a tad bit more if you can tell. (I think the name of the artist I liked was jeluto?)

I think around this time I also focused a lot more on color as well and did a lot of paintings then and whenever I did more Painterly stuff I tended to switch Styles into something Less Cartoony T-T

Then by 2020, I revamped my ocs, actually tried to break down and study my own style and how I would draw them, and my style kinda fell into a mix of round vs sharp edges I guess. I tried to give myself Rules which I would follow when stylizing a character to keep it more consistent and intentional.

Then in 2021 some of that Fun Part of stylizing characters into something more Cartoony kind of took a backseat as I focused more on Pose Work and Body Expression instead which I think helped a lot :0

And here's some recent stuff from the past year! Still very cartoony, but less so than 2016 I'd say, and still using really bold colors!! Still love my Soft Vs Hard angles B]

And overall have stronger pose work :) I'm sure my style will evolve as I learn more and experiment more, because one thing I want to focus on is backgrounds and environments :0

A guide to my OCs!

hey guys, figured i’d make this post because i have a shit ton of OCs that i post a lot of and i haven’t really explained most of them. they’re all part of different stories/universes, so i’ll be listing them based off of that.

Rex Sucks at Bass

Rex Sucks at Bass, or RSAB, is my webcomic. as of making this post, i’ve posted the entire first chapter! i’ve been planning this comic since late 2021 and i’m holding myself accountable to finish it no matter what. it’s a supernatural/coming of age story that takes place in 2009 about young adult named Rex who has to deal with relationship issues, worries about his future, sexuality crises, and of course, the impending apocalypse. also all the characters are anthro animals but that’s mostly because they’re easier to draw than people. some prominent characters from RSAB are Rex Xavier, Frederick Zhansky, Henri Bal, Sylvia Rose, Alex “Cowboy” Lorenzo, Lola Ramon, Scott “Spott” Simmons, and Marvin Xavier.

We’re Just Young

We’re Just Young is a fake sitcom about teenagers making bad decisions and friendship. it has a bunch of storylines i’ve planned out, but i mostly just draw the characters out of context. its main character is Gilbert Quarters, who is a gay bass player just like every single other character i’ve ever created. its main story takes place in 1997-98, during the characters senior year of high school. there’s also a “spin-off” to We’re Just Young, which follows Gilbert and a few others in college as they form a band called The Halloween Goats and gain some mainstream success as both musicians and ghost hunters. some prominent characters in We’re Just Young are Gilbert Quarters, Gerry Dawson, Marzy Lee, and Jackson Jefferson. some more prominent characters in the spin-off are Raymond Emerson, Wallace Waxman, Leo Hall, Jimmy Nickel, and Sebastian Ingalz.

Untitled Space Story

when i was 13 i read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and thought “I need to write my own sci-fi story” and then this past summer i got really into Star Wars and ELO and decided to revamp the whole thing. Untitled Space Story follows the adventures of a small crew assembled by infamous space pilot Sonya Blasmo, who is essentially the butch lesbian version of a cross between Zaphod Beeblebrox and Han Solo. she was “retired” because she accidentally turned her wife into a robot but nobody knows that! all they know is that she’s taking to the skies again! the other characters in Untitled Space Story are Alexis “AL3X15” Goldberg, Mindinoma Lycentine, Mariella Young, Sheldon Spinelli, and Casper “Capers” McFarlin.

Heartstake Heartbreak

a really shitty, simple love triangle story about lesbians at some sort of shitty boarding school in the mid-2000s. the only three characters are Maxine “Max” Dallas, Phoebe Jean Weathers, and Francesca “Frankie” Knight. i created this one like a week ago.

Friends of Daisy Harrisson

Friends of Daisy Harrisson is a musical i wrote, and i don’t draw the characters too often, but i figured i’d still put it on this list. it’s got a really vague story, essentially Daisy goes missing and her wife (Freyja Windsnap), ex-husband (Jim Hartley), and childhood best friend (Barneston Williams) are all brought together through her disappearance.

fun fact: Rex Sucks at Bass, We’re Just Young, Friends of Daisy Harrisson, and Max Dallas is Not a Lesbian all take place in the same town! mostly because i do not want to create another town. the only reason Untitled Space Story does not take place in that town is because it takes place in space.

Most likely I'll be primarily posting art of my OCs. Right know there's a few different stories and groups of characters that are bouncing around my head, so all of my art posts will be tagged accordingly to avoid confusion.

#story: runes - Fantasy animals creating the worst interpersonal drama you've ever seen. My primary story, current webcomic, and brain fungus that I've had for years. #story: of the flesh - An angel is cast from the heavens, labeled as a sinner following a series of events they still do not fully understand. His story follows them having to adjust to mortal life, limits, and emotions. This leads them to unpack the sinful catalyst that it was punished for, the truth of what really happened to them, and if they're able to pick up the pieces of both their past and present self.

#story: snake eyes - HUGE wip story that I basically got brain blasted with. Follows two siblings in an urban fantasy setting having to survive off of crime and each other.

Hey I’m Eddee, I like to do art, be it digital drawing/painting, writing, or occasionally other things.

I like anime and manga, and have been reading more lately. I enjoy webcomics and cartoons as well. My favorite genre is by far fantasy, but I also enjoy some sci fi and especially superhero stuff. I’d like to read more books but haven’t found a good free source yet (I’m broke af and unincorporated in my area so library cards aren’t included in taxes)

I love comics and want to make my own someday.

Unfortunately I suffer from chronic fatigue, so I don’t do art as often as I’d like to, and often struggle to finish what I actually start. It’s a pain.

I do primarily oc and other original content, but I have made fanart and might do more.

Who am I?

My name is Casper, my birthday is July 24. I use they/them pronouns and I'm nonbinary biromantic and asexual. I love animals and I have a cat, her name is Midnight and I love her more than life itself. I like to read a little, my favorite book series is Warriors by Erin Hunter. I'm a writer and an artist, I'm currently writing three books and working on a small art print business called "Starlight Studio" where I make and sell galaxy themed art prints, with a frame included in each order and I'm writing two scripts for an object show created by me and my little sister and an animated series called "Call of The Stray" as well as a webcomic called Sunny Skies and Coral Depths. I like cooking and baking. I also like to to roleplay and create characters with fully detailed stories that I spend months to years on, one of which is my oc Kiry, you'll see a lot of her. I am also a beginner witch learning about paganism so you'll see a few things related to paganism and witchcraft.

Why am I here?

I'm here to get advice to help make my art style better and learn to draw more than just animals and furry ocs, as some of my ocs are humans or have human characteristics. I tried getting people on TikTok to help, but all I get is "your art is awful/bad" with literally nothing else and whenever I try to get them to elaborate, they never respond, so I'm here to try out anything people tell me to do as long as no one is telling me to stop drawing like a few people have done bc apparently wholesome furry art is "weird" so I'm gonna see if people here are more helpful. I'm also gonna try building up my small business and hype up my books and my shows.

Grad School - Week 3

This week was a roller coaster of emotions. However, I survived it and was rewarded with my sister and BIL coming to visit this week, as well as getting to act like a tourist in this new city with them!

Here's the fantasy gun I came up with-- the fun thing about art school is that I can just make my projects about my OCs and I am suddenly much more motivated to finish them. This one, I wanted to make a magical object infused with the power of the Sun.

I still like my mock-up better. Drawing circles using an isometric grid messes me up.

Love the idea of a small little pistol that can just do nuclear fusion on you. Die 1000 times die die die.

Anyways, my art history class was heavy this week, and when it wasn't heavy, it was kind of annoying. Like, I've been trying really hard to participate in discussions but every time I do, my professor doesn't really acknowledge me. She's really desperate for people to be talking, since most of the room doesn't participate, but she doesn't do anything to encourage it? And it makes me feel bad that nothing I say gets any reaction at all. It's like I might as well not talk.

I also attended a workshop for Webtoon because I'm formulating a backup plan for my story, because I do intend to keep my promise that I'll do something with it by the time I turn 30, and that will most likely be a webcomic. I do not think Webtoon is for me, though, in fact I'm kind of a hater now. Tbh my preference of webcomic format may be something homestuck-esque, I'm sad to say. I prefer 1 panel at a time or animated gifs to either scroll or page comics.

Yeah, otherwise, this week straight up sucked. This weekend has made up for it but I rather leave this week in the past. Sorry there's not as many images this week!
