although i never met them, there used to be a researcher at the lab who did the most batshit stuff. we keep our mosquitoes in mesh cages, so they can't escape but they can feed through the mesh (so we don't have to reach in and out of the cages and potentially let some loose). this old researcher used to grab the morning newspaper, roll up his pants, collapse in a chair and settle his calves over the mesh cages for literal thousands of mosquitoes to feed from him. for hours. i want to meet this man so bad.

As well as the ground-level water pot, Millie is keen to take her habitat game to new heights!  The boundary fence is made of ironbark posts and steel mesh, and from the window, she has observed stacks of birds use it to stop and survey the surrounding garden. That indicates it will also be a great spot to safely provide water for them, out of reach of predators.

- She attaches 2 galvanised steel brackets to a post and sits a large terracotta saucer on top.  Some silicone is used to hold the saucer lightly in position, and rocks are added to balance the bath and offer a route in and out of the bath.

- As a shallow elevated bath, this will need constant filling, so to ensure a consistent supply she installs some dripper to an irrigation timer.

- This runs 1-2 times a day to flush the bath with clean water and ensure the birds can set their watch to it.

The fence line is already heavily planted, with climbing native and exotic clematis, espaliered feijoas and even a callistemon.  But there is always space for more!  Under the drip of the baths Millie plants a native groundcover, austral bugle.

WATER POINT THREE :

The last water point offer is down low, a saucer of water placed on the ground near a habitat pipe installed for reptiles. To make the offering even more enticing, Millie plants some ruby saltbush.

When the game goes too far (Professor/Vic Chaos)

made a new one because sometimes inspiration is funny

Butters, after already having just Too Much on his plate, finds out his friends are setting up another game vis-a-vis FBW but don't want him to join in, trying to keep him from finding out, and it's just the cherry on the cake that drives him off the deep end, giving Vic a chance to slither on in.

He does have an ultimate goal here outside the game, and I must say, it is very Vic-coded lmao. He'd probably be most interested in Toolshed to help him keep the game going for long enough, but I'm open to just about any canon character that'd be playing!

It shouldn't really have bothered him. Really, in the grand scheme of things, finding out your friends don't want you to join in a game you used to play together as kids just really wasn't a Big Deal™. But the rejection and disregard that came from it absolutely was. He'd been battered and bruised and on shaky ground for a long time now, with seemingly not a single one of the people who care about him noticing, and this was the fist through the wall of his mental fortitude. They didn't want Professor Chaos to take part in their little game this time?

What a shame.

Mosquito was their new villain? Clyde? He was barely worth anything as a hero, and they're putting him in charge of setting up a worthwhile scheme to keep their game going? Idiots. This was who they were replacing him with, huh? Sure. Let Mosquito set up his pieces. Chaos had his own game to prepare.

Mosquito's monologuing skills weren't terrible, he has to admit, but the nasal drone made it hard to know just what he was saying half the time. Poor fool just didn't know how to project. Chaos watches in silence, tucked away undetected, as he gives his little speech to the camera, the clustered heroes on the screen looking suitably determined to play. It's charming, like a parent watching a toddler try and fail to do their job. Adorable.

Truthfully, Chaos doesn't even know what the supposed villain had in mind; he already knew Mosquito's plans would be put on hold once his own ideas got rolling, and sure enough, just as he catches that tone in Mosquito's voice indicating he's about to put things to action, Chaos stands and makes his presence known. He steps into frame, arms spread in a welcoming gesture, and while he receives a suitably afraid glance from Mosquito, he can hear the scoff from the other end of their video call. 'Alright, which one of you jagoffs told Butters?'

The voice makes him grin, just a flash of teeth, before he cuts in. "Aw, don't be like that, Eric," he coos, clasping gloved hands in front of himself in a demure parody. "Nuh-no one spilled the beans'r nothin', I just overheard. N' I figgerd I could probably come in and give yer new supervillain a hand! A gift!"

Chaos kicks aside a large but empty crate in the shed Mosquito was using for his 'lair', revealing a large window that looked out into a mesh cage. The subtle buzzing that could have easily been mistaken as electricity flashing through wires is shown to be thousands, if not millions of mosquitoes, hovering over a large pool of stagnant water where they'd obviously been breeding on a massive scale. Most of them kept close to the top of the cage, where heating pads covered sausage casings full of animal blood to keep them alive and sated.

"Thematically, appropriate, I know. You're welcome," he enthuses toward Mosquito. "But that ain't all! Oh no, whuh-where's the fun in that? Naw, lookee here-" Chaos slips a test tube out of his pocket, giving it a careful little shake so as not to damage the delicate insect within.

"Took me a minute ta get this lovely little lady, but boy was she worth every penny. Didja know there's still no effective vaccine for the Zika virus? Ain't that somethin'?" He pulls the stopper from the tube and shoves the opening through a little flap beneath the window, and the insect inside floats lazily upward to join the rest in feeding.

"One in a million, those aren't bad odds at all, huh?" Chaos shoves at a lever and the top of the mesh cage opens up. A swarm of mosquitoes take to the air, and Butters turns back to the camera with a wide grin. "Hope you fellas stocked up on yer bug spray!"

Even if there isn't, you can literally just bust through if you have to, they will not block a human that is determined to escape.

If your cat, like mine, likes to sit on windowsill that are far too narrow for her significant bulk, it's possible that over time your cat's butt and gravity combined will stretch and loosen the screen from its frame, culminating in a dramatic event where your cat just kund of falls out of your house and (from her perspective) gets teleported to another world
