Me and Hoddie have a royal au and your animation made me think of it again.

Nothing crazy special, but...ah...I should probably give a little context yeah...hmm.

Uh, okay. There's a kingdom. whose king and queen have died, leaving behind several possible heirs who are not their direct children. Right now, the king's first general is sitting on the throne, because the power of the army is, you know, a pretty powerful argument in a fight for the throne, right? This creepy regent is Cass. And Cass came to power thanks to Hoddie, who's basically the king's heir too, but she's pretty distant and her chances of the throne are quite slim. This has made her a professional rat and back stabber. The whole palace is busy weaving intrigue and destroying each other in a competition for power. Contests in cunning and sneakiness. A maximally intellectually uncomfortable environment in general.

Until Hoddie finds the true heiress. The king's blood daughter, to whom the throne should rightfully belong.

Problem? The problem is that the heiress needs to be two years older to be old enough to rule. And Hoddie and Cass' goal is to make sure she lives to that age in an environment where every other person wants to frame or kill her.

That heiress is you, Tap. But we couldn't think of what you'd look like in this au ahaha.

Did I understand correctly that my existence as an heiress was not known? It would be strange if the king was not looking for me, if I was the only heir (by blood), which means they were hoping for a new child, or already had plans for an indirect heir, or wanted to hide me. What other power is there, besides the king and the army, that holds the common people? Church. The king could have sent me to be trained as a priestess in order to gain support from them (either I was not considered worthy of receiving the throne in the future, which is why they preferred to hide me, or the king so badly needed their support that he was ready to sacrifice his only blood daughter) . Thus, from a young age, the beauty of a non-existent world somewhere beyond the heavens was drummed into my head and, in general, “God speaks all our actions.” I have an inconspicuous appearance, a position above a simple servant, but such priests are usually considered to be the daughters of high nobles, but not the king himself, which is why not everyone could know who I really was. Thus, they forgot about my existence ~ After the death of the king and all the heirs, the church quickly realized what to do next, and crushed me to itself, hiding me from the world until I reached the age of succession to the throne. (But children could take the throne under a regent. Could Hoodi become my regent as one of the older contenders for the throne?) So, back to the turmoil. Hoodie found me at church. Since childhood, my worldview could have changed greatly under the influence of the church, so, well, you will have to hammer a lot into my head, in addition to the throne’s education (You know... it's bit complicated to make a human sona not as a stupid little ball XDD... it literally can't get a shape at this point... maybe you will place a real bunny as the new king? It will be eating cabbage 24/7 and everyone will be happy)

i'm gonna do something i shouldn't and vaguepost about pathologic discourse i saw on my dash, specifically about daniil dankovsky and his position in relation to labor unions/organizing

i want to start by highlighting the idea that

a.) labor unions are a good thing

and that

b.) a good character would support that good thing

so people who think a character is "good" feel that character should/would support that good thing

this is the part of the post where i would get into more nuanced discourse except because i've only played the first game (and only the bachelor and haruspex routes) and don't feel prepared to cite certain passages from memory i feel unprepared to actually address some of the arguments made

so i'll just say this

i completely and totally understand the impulse to apply the simple a-b logic highlighted in the first part of the post to a character you like, and am not immune from doing so myself. but:

danil dankovsky is not a good person.

and he waltzes into town wearing the single most expensive piece of clothing in the game on his back.

I NEED to talk about the stupid ass names that were given for the Miraculous Paris Special in English. Like ya know I can get behind Claw Noir, and Shadybug's not bad (I like Toxinelle more but that's a whole other thing) but then we have the cheesiest name for good Gabe with cussing Betterfly.

The idea of there being a hero version of Gabriel "The Idiotic Asshole" Agreste is already a living joke but then you tack on freakin Betterfly and I just- I'm sorry I can't even think about that without laughing my ass off, like it's just sooooooo dumb.

I know that the French version is Hesperia which (according to the wiki) is either a type of butterfly or could mean "to trust" but it's DEFINITELY more suitable than Betterfly.

But No Thing it sounds similar to Vesperia AND it sounds like a girl's name!!

Ya, ya, ya, I know. I'm not saying they should've gone with that but practically anything would've been better (hehe) than Betterfly.

Poll's Origin Story (kind of)

Stardust wanders. That's their whole thing. They are a spirit, or more accurately an... entity? Minor deity? It's a little complicated, but what is important is that they wander, and they wander wherever they want. One day, they ended up in just the right place at the right time.

That little egg that Stardust found ended up being Poll, Of course.

It's a little hard to glean how long Poll was in the Federation labs and why they were made. Like many of the other eggs, Poll doesn't talk about what happened (if they remember at all) and generally pretends like it never happened. As far as they could figure out though, Poll had gone through all the testing and was in storage until the right set of islanders arrived.

Having spent their entire life surrounded by Federation employees, Poll's dragon form was *very* different from what it is today, to say the least.

After spending a little while around Stardust, their form changed to the one we know and love! Although since their papa is a shapeshifter too, their form resembles the dragons their genetics are from instead of their papa.
