WHAT YOUR CHARACTER WILL NOTICE ABOUT MINE

What they look like: He is large in the sense he is tall (about 6'4) and takes up a good amount of space, though he is not particularly wide or exceptionally broad shouldered - simply very dense with added muscle. The color of his hair doesn't quite have a name, or at least one that anybody would be confident in calling it due to how changes often in different aspects of lighting. This is partially due to an introduced artificial coloring that was added to his hair as a joke while he was napping among Ren's high elf friends; the elven dye in question is the type that can only really be seen in direct sunlight, and when it's visible - it gives his natural deep-blue (nearly black) and red tints a plummy, fuchsia sheen that shows the most concentrated level of pink at the ends of his hair when it's spiked up while the rest becomes a metallic, coppery-mauve.

As a half-orc, some (particularly other half's or full orcs) might find it unusual that he does not have a single facial scar as the violence and otherwise rowdiness among their kind is a usual indication they will have some marks on their face at early ages. Since he was raised in elven society and the condition of the face was to carry the reputation of one's house even amongst thralls, his face was spared any markings. Instead, he has his share of them on his lower back and the backs of his legs.

He has a mild case of vitiligo, but mainly on his firearms and palms as well as the back of one palm. There is also a spot on his sternum, between his shoulder blades, on a flank over his pancreas, and under his lip. His right temple/brow has the elvish word 'keeper' branded/tattooed in place as a sign of his past role in house Cragdew, and an enchantment to make him lie down.

What they smell like: A mixture of creek water and sometimes whatever bathing oil he finds in Ren's bag when he's had a wash in camp. By most standards, he carries the ever-present hint of sweat and sweat-sweetened leather from the bracing straps worn under light/medium armors. Hints of ironwood haunt the handle of his axe due to the handles of weapons and tools usually being the sturdy wood, and it rubs off on his hands. Blood and meat left in the sun too long festers inside a bag he keeps on his belt where he sometimes totes around the arms and legs of bodies found left on the road to use as projectiles in fights he senses are at hand. His breath is often a faint floral muddied with milk from whatever tea the camp has brewed in the morning that he slams full with goat milk.

What they taste like: Imagine a popsicle of everything described above under the smell category and give it a lick-cannibals don't @ him.

A kiss of course would taste like whatever he's gotten into last. His breath can be quite milky in the morning when hints of floral depending on the herbals of the tea he gets to have before setting out of camp, though his go to is licorice root. Other than that, he very much spicy and over spiced food, so there's a chance one might catch twinges of fresh peppercorn stuck in his teeth, coriander, and cumin. Overall if one had to lick him like the spider, he'd be salty and a bit on the dusty side from sweating and sleeping/rolling about in the dirt often as well as some dog fur from when he pays the Scratch tax.

What they sound like: Gravelly at times, his voice has a slight melodic upturn to the way he pronounces a few words, likely due to his upbringing and his general use of passable elvish. Though even with the practice in a softer language, he his larger lungs accompany his words with a bit more force than needed at times. His accent is a half breed of a London meets Mancunian with a sprinkle of Welsh (melody) in the mix. There are times his mouth is going so fast that he ends up adding extra words/phrases that don't need to be said or add to the conversation, but he has to chew something out to avoid chomping down on his tongue; think of it as if his mouth had the option to 'rage'. When calmer, however, his voice can roll slow and thick, especially when he's engaged in a bit of a sobering conversation. Speaking of sober, if he's not - good luck figuring out just what the hell he's saying.

What they feel like: Birvor feels like what wrapping one's arms around a cracked pantheon feels like: sturdy, stiff, and with the vague feeling that he will be unable to keep from crumbling forever. The uncertainty in his grasp when he feels that someone is to be added to his bulwark stems from being raised among those with frailer statures and of never quite knowing his own strength and failing to dial it back on many occasions. His hands look as though they'd feel delicate blanched ivory, yet they carry the callouses that turn his grip firm whether it is squeezing a shoulder in solidarity, gripping a jaw to twist a stubborn face towards his burning assessment of one's well being, or cupping a cheek with a softened resolve. Should one lean against him, the fast feeling of a heart enlarged to accommodate rages hammers in iambic pentameter. (They may also feel the squirming of his 3 additional stomach tadpoles riling up gut feelings to act on.)

I'm just gonna jump straight into it im bad at introing

Let's start with his colour. Blue matted fur with yellow claw like hands more similarly to a goat than a cat's. The colour blue was a good design choice due to how it manages to make him pop out more against the dark and bleaky backgrounds of the game. This comes into play more with the infamous vent chase sequence as the blue stands out more with the dark background. His yellow claws stands out enough from the blue so that your eyes are directed towards his long arms which once again, comes into play more at the vent chase sequence as the yellow makes his hand visible. It manages to stand out but not too much that it's annoying. The colour palette seems fitting of a toy with the added red bowtie thing and mouth, which cancels out the ikea colour palette. With how little red there are it helps it look more like a toy than an edgy character.

His face was perfectly designed to be able to look creepy but also friendly. Without his mouth opened, revealing his sharp teeth he looks friendly. The eyes reminding you of a googley (how do you spell it) eyes and yet when he reveals his sharp toothers those eyes only looks lifeless as it chases after you.

Now, with the yellow hands directing your eyes towards his arms, let's talk limbs shall we? His long stature towers over you, his lifeless eyes staring at you. Being in a dark and gloomy area as a giant being comes walks up to you could sure give some people a fright. Especially being so close to him. In the vent chase, you'd see how his hands twist in such a way that it'd remind you of a human arm bending in ways it weren't supposed to. Seeing such a giant thing in such a small space terrifies you knowing you can't escape it even if you go to a space so small it surely wouldn't have fit him. Seeing him take over most of the little space in the vents as he chases after you, being forced to wait for a door to open while knowing this giant creature is going after you with no way out other than running away from it.

And lastly, as his long lanky body falls over the railling hitting a few pipes(?) along the way as blood stains were left on said pipes. The thought of this furry toy like creature having guts and blood on the inside is uncanny. You turn around as the big red poppy flower painted against the grey bleak walls immediately getting your attention

The animal was mocking Usada. So naturally Usada got mad and tried to charge at it. 

  But charging at a temperamental animal with sharp horns spelled trouble (for Usada).

  “Aieeeee!”

  “Baa!”

  “For goodness sake!” Youko facepalmed from where she and the others were watching from the safety behind the fence.

  “Bringing Usada here was a mistake.” Hiromu said bluntly.

  “Usada!” Gorisaki shrieked as the goat headbutted the rabbit Buddyroid, sending it flying. Nick and the gorilla Buddyroid ran after it and got under it to break its fall before it could crash into the ground.  

  “Mou, why did you have to do that?” Youko groaned as she and Hiromu ran over.

  “It was challenging me!” Usada waved its arms agitatedly. 

  “How?” Nick cocked his head as he helped Gorisaki up.

  “It ate a carrot in front of me!”

  *Caw*Caw*Caw*

  The metaphoric crow flew past the group who stared at the rabbit Buddyroid in disbelief. Youko growled and grabbed Usada by the ears, twisting them painfully.

  “That’s it!?” She screamed. “You went after a goat because it ate a carrot!?”

  “Ow! Ow! Ow! Youko, let go!”

  “We are really sorry for the trouble caused.” Ryuuji bowed at the petting zoo’s baffled staff. He winced when Hiromu tried to pull off Youko only to be elbowed painfully in the side. “We won’t bring them again.”

Hello! It’s been a while lol. So anyway, I bought the light novel doujin of-- to put it simply-- an official Akuma no Riddle Isekai AU!

Here’s some brief, messy summary from me. It’s going to be long!

1st chapter title: "for some reason, none of the road leads toward the tower"

the story opens with tokaku and haru fighting a wolf like monster. tokaku is a knight, haru is a saint who casted buff spell on her

tokaku soon managed to defeat the monster, haru's defensive spell helped her too. they then talk about their outfit. haru got a graceful saint dress, and she said that hitsugi (lol) or humireko is more fitting to wear it. tokaku disagree and says it suits her best

haru then looks down and put her fingers together (sorry i cant english) and acting like "you really think so?", and in her monologue tokaku basically goes like "so cute that's my 8th fav expression"

tokaku then ask if haru want to stay in the first city. haru refuses, saying that "the saint and the knight of revenge" is fated to go together. tokaku says no need to believe in something they just heard about

but haru insisted and points her finger at tokaku, and tokaku knows she can't change her mind (she hides the fact that she actually will feel worry if they get separated. also Haru's pouting face is her 9th fav expression of her)

as they walk hand in hand into a forest toward a temple, tokaku remember about what has happened. flashback time!

tokaku woke up a dark, old room. she cannot find haru. then she sensed a presence and reach for her knives but found none. in front of her appears a devil, with horns and red eyes, black body that is a mix of a lion and goat. it reminds her of a movie she watched with haru

the devil greeted her as the knight of revenge, and tell her to find the shrine maiden and fulfill their mission together "as it is the only way"

when she tries to reach for it, the devil disappears and tokaku find a shiny silver horn of a monster. when she threw it away, it turned into a mercury like liquid and pierced into her hand. the pain knocks her out. when she comes to she already in her knight outfit. she have many questions, but she push them aside to find haru

she find herself in a european like town, but she doesn't see why someone should kidnap them and dump them here. then she remembers haru talking about a game where the protag got transported into a different world

she met some local kids who recognize her as the knight of revenge. but when she ask them about the saint, the kids start to speak in animal sound and so with the adult (piyo piyo, woof woof, caw caw). it confuses tokaku like hell. but then she meets an old lady who mimics owl sounds

the old lady says that this is what an Angel told them to do to avoid a curse, and Tokaku should do the same too or else. tokaku thought the whole town have gone nuts

she asked the old lady where the saint is, but the old lady ask "who is the best at mimicking an animal?" normally tokaku wouldn't have the patience to play around, but she knows that this is a quiz of short. she answer "a horse", as she spotted one before. she got it right

they pointed her toward a tower at the other side of the city. she's been walking for an hour but she keep meeting dead ends. she noticed that she keeps ending in a dead end on her 2nd time, and start asking the villagers. it's either because of how good she is at mimicking animal, or good at asking question, but the villagers are giving her enough pointer to  go with.

the only reason she keep getting the wrong turn or seeing dead end is because of her own mistake in missing the landmarks and such as the sun set. after walking for so long, tokaku grew tired and hungry. she tries to find food, or someone else to ask direction for. just then she hear the sound of footsteps from behind

"stop! i'm the knight of revenge. i need you to point me toward where the saint is!" and there, under the light, whether it's from the lamp or the moon, there she was, mimicking the sound of a cat. and tokaku went to hug ichinose haru

the 2nd chapter title is "All Saints wait for their Knight of Revenge... Or not"

POV changed to Haru, who woke up in a big garden filled with colorful Cosmos flower. also when Haru is nervous, she would put her hand over her chest and tighten it. sorry doesn't exactly know how to english it

she is then greeted by a blonde haired angel. the angel smiled, saying "oh so that's how you see me". haru asked where tokkau is, and the angel says that the "knight of revenge" is in the city outside

the angel explained that the knight and the saint will always need to be together, no matter what path they take. only people "who wish for each other" are chosen for the role. haru especially likes that one bit lol

angel confirms that they have been transported into another world

haru: omg it's a truck isn't it? we're dead, and it's because we are hit by a truck! -> angel: uh no you guys are still alive and well

angel: so anyway there is a reason to why you guys are transported her, an important mission -> haru: um sorry but tokaku and i lived in a peaceful world so we can't kill the demon lord for you -> angel says it's not that, but it is not her role to explain to them what it is. it's some one else's, and their mission is much more important than that

the angel then give her the power of the saint. as haru is losing consciousness, the angel told her that "she is waiting outside", then on her chest is attached the "Stigma"

POV switched back to tokaku and haru, who have been reunited. they are in an inn, and waiting for their meal to come

tokaku: what's up with that "nya~"? it doesn’t sound like an actual cat-> haru: mou! they said i have to! -> tokaku: (the nya) that's what i wanted to hear the most

they then was told that the one tasked to tell them is the "Maiden of the Water Mirror", they must go to their temple to see her

that night, tokaku and haru checked on each other stigma (yuri time!). the mark on their chest is an X, like a cross mark

"Hah!? Haru is the Saint!?" so Isuke Inukai say. Haru sees Isuke in a forest somewhere. then her vision changed to Suzu, who is cooking in a big witch like pot while singing "Kare~ Kare~"

the vision changed again to seeing a ship sailing across the ocean. the sail have skull mark on it. on the deck she could see Nio laughing, arms folded with a parrot on her shoulder. it sails toward a big port

then, haru sees hitsugi. she was earnestly praying, her hands folded. but then her face suddenly turn to face her "haru-san, you can't come here in that body. let us meet properly...”

hitsugi then gently pushed her away, up in the air, high enough to see "something" lies beyond the peak of the mountains

the 2nd chapter ends with tokaku and haru getting a ride to head to the temple, and haru telling tokaku that she don't think they are the only ones here

and that is the end of the first LN!

Deleting the Guilt

Here I am with a new song analysis in “Let’s Listen to”! Today’s subject is a song by the visual kei band Scapegoat, precisely one of their less known ones, Deletion noise, released officially as tenth track of their compilation Shokuzai no yagi (Scape goat) on 25th April 2018 (originally it has been released on an omnibus named Explosion Showcase in 2011). The song encloses all the common features seen in this band, such as an energetic sound and a melancholic theme, dealing with an aspect closer to their world.

THE MUSIC

An electronic dark intro and a fast drumming kick off the song, leading up to an highly heavy theme, empowered by aggressive notes; Haru’s voice is psychedelic, but pretty distinctive and articulated despite the track’s style; the song features even melancholic parts, especially in the refrain, in a strong and intense song.

THE WORDS

Written by the singer Haru, this song sees a quite simple layout, even if there’s something unusual in the parts written in English. If you read carefully, you will see that most lines are accompained by a more proper translation, even for helping in understanding the meaning, as they were grammatically wrong (we don’t know if it was made on purpose or it has been a simple mistaken knowledge of language). Talking about the meaning of the song, is good to note that it has been “officially” released in a compilation entitled like the name of the band, as for representing their true essence (in fact the album is composed by famous hits and several new tracks, mostly coming from live-limited releases or omnibuses) and the content of the text represents perfectly the atmosphere brought by them in all their works. The main theme is the act of deleting, erasing an orrible action made in the past, which starts to haunt who made it; the protagonist of the text lives through this haunting, feeling himself corrupted and damned by his guilt forever, an image which reflects Scapegoat’s concept, based on guilt and sin represented through music. And now... let’s analyze the song!

I) The text starts with the protagonist who sees that everything he looks at appears distorted, out of his own reality (Kono hitomi ni miru mono subete yugande mie hajime); he is afraid of believing on what he sees, feeling that his countdown is coming to an end (shinjiru koto ni obie owari e no Countdown, the countdown is a common image for Scapegoat’s songs, indicating the imminent judgement of own sins), so he looks for warmth and any other thing he can get with his hands (nukumori motomete samekitta/kono te ni tsukamu mono). He sees a fragment of the memory of the world, which is revolving like a lantern (Soumatou no you ni mawaru sekai no kioku no danpen ni, in Buddhism the lantern is a symbol of enlightenment and mostly, forgiveness) and starts to wonder what is his own place (jibun no ibasho wa doko ni aru no deshou ka?), feeling himself tired of losing things he cares most (nakusu koto ni tsukare samekitta), keeping to hang on everything he can get (kono te ni tsukamu mono).

II) The song which has left in the end, his own song, has become sleeping, so he is scared of feeling pain (itami ni furueru), while his eyes become dirty and clouded next to a beautiful world, because of his sin (utsukushiki sekai de yogorete nigoru hitomi). Then he describes his own guilt as a dream which repeats continously, wet by an endless rain (Nandomo kurikaesu yume/owaru koto no nai ame no naka nureteitemo); he chooses to not avoid it and to live through it, not wanting to be waked up during the dream, making it last for days (mou sukoshi dake soba ni isasete/kore ga yume nara samenaide/nidoto it's days).

III) Under the sun he doesn’t see anything more, asking to his interlocutor if he/she knows it; the sound of the song which had warped his heart appears broken (a reference to the image of the previous sequence) and the end, which is coming, puts everything out of order, so he decides to delete everything (likely a reference to death). He defines the measure of his sin countless, impossible to calculate (Kazoe kirenai hodo) and this guilt doesn’t arrive at him, mixing instead with his interlocutor (todoku koto no nai tsumi to kimi ga mazariau, it seems that the person he is talking with is a victim of his, a person beloved to him, who he hurt such in a way, likely with a murder, a not-so-new image for Scapegoat, as they used that concept in most of their musical videos), so he feels to drown in the tears which can’t be wiped out (nugue kirenu namida ni obore); finally nothing will decay, as everything is dirty and invisible for him, leaving his fate without any hope for the future days (nanimo mienai hodo yogore kuchiteku/it's days).

The sin is something which can’t be erased like nothing, as it stays carved inside anyone, shaping his life from that moment and beyond; Scapegoat goes on with their unique concept, in a song which goes right to the point in expressing how the guilt can be heavy and radical for someone’s life.
