Cop nabs The Hoff and Rhys Darby on Stewart Island / Rakiura

Hollywood star David Hasselhoff and Kiwi comedian Rhys Darby were nabbed by a local cop on Stewart Island / Rakiura this week.

The pair came to the attention of the island's sole officer Stuart while they were out and about in the community.

Southern District Police posted a pic of the trio on its Facebook page explaining how it came about.

"Stuart, our sole charge officer on Stewart Island (we know), was lucky enough to have a brief chat with David Hasselhoff and Rhys Darby while they were in the community filming for an upcoming show."

It added how it was "not a bad day in the office" for the star struck Stuart.

The pair are traipsing around Aotearoa as they film a new reality travel show Hoff Roading.

According to its production company Stripe Studios, the show will run for a season of 10, 23 minute long episodes.

The Hoff and Darby were also spotted at Auckland's Sky Tower last Friday.

The pair "bravely" did the Sky Walk together, 192m above the streets of Auckland — but did not do the Sky Jump.

This is not the Knight Rider star's first time in New Zealand.

He moved here temporarily in the mid-80s to record his second studio album Lovin' Feelings at Mandrill Studios in Auckland's Parnell.

Izabella was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on december 23, 1998 to a korean family, having two older sisters, one of them being Rosé from the popular kpop girl group Blackpink. At the age of five years old Izabella and her family moved to Melbourne, Australia; there, she started taking different classes since early age: jiu jitsu (even participating in national competitions), aerial and contemporary dance, she learned how to play the drums, the piano and the guitar, and even joined the church choir along with her sister Rosé.

In 2011, at age of 13 and influenced by her dad’s words, she attended an audition in Sydney, Australia for South Korean record label SM Entertainment, ranking at the top three among 1000 participants, and just some months after that, her sister Rosé signed with YG. They both dropped out of school and moved to South Korea with their mom.

At first, she was happy with being signed only as an actress and having small roles to start with her career, but then she realized that acting wasn’t her passion, and after two years, she parted with SM on good terms.

Some months after that, she got scouted by an agent of Starship Entertainment. Izabella even trained with the (now) monsta x members and even got contemplated to join the survival show “no mercy,” but she didn’t end up joining. In the winter of 2015, Izabella opens a soundcloud account and starts releasing her own songs under the stage name of “cherry,” her popularity starting to grow, even getting considered as one of the best underground rappers back then. In 2016, she decides on parting with Starship too on good terms.

Trying to not give up even after the circumstances and after seeing her older sister’s success, she joins “unpretty rapstar” in 2016 under the stage name of ‘cherry’, making it into the finals and ranking at 3rd place. A little about grief

As the holy day of Samhain (pronounced sow-in) approaches, it tends to be a time when many address grief in their lives. omg the europe thing reminded me of how this summer I worked social media/comms for a shakespeare in the park tour. as you might assume, park shows are very reliant on it not being rainy, and this summer was incredibly rainy. Even though we would only find out if we were cancelling the day of, we prob had a lot less money than dan, we had to transport our own lights and sound equipment, and I think an equally large team as dan, we still managed to cancel fewer shows than Dan's team. We might be even w dan if we count the times we had to move indoors .

The day of our first show, we had a tornado warning, flooding and a huge thunderstorm. We thankfully had an indoor location! Except the bathrooms of the location flooded, meaning we could not host a public show. We had to cancel, and that set the tune for the rest of tour... And STILL, by the end of it we were running out of space in the parks. I have no idea what Dan's team's excuse was.

I tried to keep our socials v, v active, so our audience could trust that should there be any changes, they would know immediately (we also told them they'd know by 4pm the day of). They could also message us, and I tried to clarify the voice and personality of the company to emphasize our accessibility. I got really good feedback, and NO ONE said they missed a show bc they couldn't find us, or came to a venue when the show was cancelled. This was my first time doing that type of job, and I'd id like to think i did a better job than dans team lol rip.

Also our shows were free, so unlike w dans audience, our audience wasnt losing money. sigh

but keeping socials very active and having updates in one place is such a good tactics! emails are good but sometimes they go to spam or don't come to inboxes at all.

most of Dan's shows were cancelled because of poor ticket sales. only Kitchener was cancelled because the venue wasn't renovated in time (i think). and they couldn't find a replacement for it. they managed to not cancel Auckland despite the flooding. idk who we should credit for that :) that show was handled quite well actually. they waited till the last minute but they offered refunds to those who couldn't make it because of the weather.

2014. Well, actually, 2013 this proposal went to Council. 10 years ago!

A very excited Council… then the wheels fell off when the administration couldn’t see the “value” in the event.

Creative Director on this was Philip McDougall. At the time Philip was EVP Creative in New York for the prestigious Experiential Company Jack Morton Worldwide & was rebranding San Francisco Bay Area in preparation for Super Bowl. He had been Creative on some of the largest broadcast events of the new century including Melbourne Commonwealth Games & Beijing Olympics as the head Creative of JMW Australia… he was home on a rest while waiting on his new position with another global giant & we decided to put our heads together to make something to celebrate our home town…

We aimed to show Wellington as vibrant & exciting to the world. Not celebrating ourselves to ourselves. Allowing others to celebrate us, our city & our place in the World - if only for the fact we are the first capital city to see the New Year!

We did this to instil some pride in our children in our home town. There was no gain for us. Sure we each have a son at Victoria & I even have a son who works at Paperkite as a Product Owner & Designer but he lives in Christchurch. But all my kids live overseas or Auckland & Christchurch & don’t see Wellington as “home” like we do.

When I first worked with Phil in 2000 I commuted to Melbourne but worked in a satellite office (old style remote) back here in Wellington or my studio in Melbourne… we worked on installations in Sydney & I worked on events in Auckland too.

But as Wellington gets more & more isolated the remote working style gets more difficult to justify. The issue for our home town is that it keeps telling us it has great food & theatre & entertainment however it’s not as good as Melbourne or Auckland or Christchurch right now - ask all those new students who went to Canterbury this year.

The issue is the town needs to stop making out it has a lot to offer & start offering a place that new people feel they are making a contribution… that’s what we wanted from LA DE DA 2014. A new culture that offered a place to belong & then celebrate that. And then show off about it to the World!
