i’ve been having a lot of fun with a paranatural au for mp100 in my spare time, here’s mob n teru! 

i have more written down in a really chaotic doc (and A Lot More i still need to do), but i havent drawn anything else worth posting so far ;w; feel free to ask abt it tho! the main esper crew is mostly down atm, plus various notes on the supporting esper cast 

some notes copied verbatim from twitter (mild manga spoilers): 

mob's powers are still linked to his emotions, in a barely different way due to the Assumed limits of pnat's rules. ive thought abt it A Lot and adapted Every Single One of his explosions, & ch100 functions relatively the same

ive thought similarly for teru, i didnt wanna just erase the fact that hes a really fast n smart learner when it comes to powers. the function of his tool is EXCLUSIVE to copying other Spirits' powers. teru copies others' energy manip as fast as he does in canon (ie. terada)

mob's relationship to ???% in this au is a bit of a combination of the relationship between King C. and Peekaboo with their respective mediums (but more Peekaboo leaning. i'm playing it fast and loose since we haven't seen too much of that)

originally, mob was a medium AND tool user (like spender), his tool assisted him in the suppression of ???% but then i....remembered Peekaboo exists, and the tool became pointless, because ???% is Not like spender's Shadow, it isnt some scary beast, it doesnt need to be contained

also i just realized i mayve not worded this clearly in teru's profile cuz i cant speak: teru doesnt have two spirits At Current, he's had two spirits Ever Total. from childhood to meeting mob he had an ego boosting jerk spirit, and the altercation with mob destroyed it/its tool

some doodles of mob and his (non grudged) spirit in their early years! i haven’t posted any paranatural au in a while 

since mob is a medium he'll take on more of his spirit's traits over time, so i tried making his hair different as a kid so the bowlcut can be a medium trait fdsfskf

mob used to tap into ???%’s powers when overcome with emotion, and it found joy and amusement in its powers being used by a child in such a mundane way. the same goes for mob showing its powers off to his friends and family 

a lot of the 100% and ???% events in mpnat are a result of mob’s spirit having developed a deep desire to protect the kageyamas after being around them for so long. an example of this is 100% Animosity: ???%’s inherent desire to protect the Kageyamas as well as Mob’s desire to protect Ritsu combine, enabling a properly collaborative use of ???%’s powers

their relationship is a delicate balance - when in sync their collaborative power, emotions, and understanding are unparalleled

cleaned n colored some spirit fusion sketches !! 

for the uninitiated spirit fusion is a concept in Paranatural where a spectral can temporarily fuse with the spirit in their tool, allowing them to use powers they can’t normally access. it also gives them funky clothes and never looks the same way twice 

we’ve yet to see medium-spirit fusion in canon, but a lot of my mp100 au hinges on the idea that it’s possible, so here’s some rambly thoughts about that: 

on the pnat wikia it’s stated that spectral-tool fusion is involuntary on the spirit’s part, so a lot of my medium-spirit headcanon plays on this rule in that it can either be involuntary for the medium and or is a result of running on survival instincts—which is important for Mob in this au, because a lot of his use of power in 100% events are influenced by snap decisions fueled by emotion and instinct, occasionally resulting in fusion (such as 100% Murderous Intent and 100% Rejection). ???% events become involuntary fusion of course 

toichiro, who is also a medium in this au, has known his spirit for a long time, allowing him to have a lot of control over his spirit when it comes to fusion. he can freely draw on that full power more and more, eventually resulting in his explosion of built up of power cuz Spirits And Spectrals Aren’t Built For That

hello i’m back with The Boys in my mp100 paranatural au ! 

they’re a bit more wordy than mob and teru’s profiles (i try so hard to keep them succinct agh). below the cut is some notes and the transcript of their profiles: 

SPECIAL THANKS TO my good friend @AlexTheMostlyOk on twitter who is a blessing that also happens to be a physicist and has helped a LOT with shou. i know nothing about physics so unfortunately if you have any questions i can’t exactly answer them, but alex agrees that shou’s whole powerset makes sense under the umbrella of Physics in both the original canon and in this au, so yah! 

the suzuki Charge Bomb has been adapted into a hereditary super op spec-shot technique of sorts. it can still be charged over a period of time, but the mechanics & limitations are different between his and his dad’s 

shou’s tool spins perpetually due to quantamaid’s influence (similar to how ed’s paintbrush can stretch in pnat). spectral energy acts as the fuel for this, which according to alex means it wouldn’t violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics >:3 

i actually have a Lot of adaptation thoughts about ritsu in this au (seriously i took 4 pages worth of notes while rewatching the big cleanup arc) but i’ll probably end up making that its own post because its. a lot. i have so much work to do. but! i can answer any questions about that if anyone has any 

Ritsu - Spectral - teal energy

A new spectral that awakened to his powers while briefly acting as a medium for a weak puppet spirit. Now the wielder of a tool that allows him to manipulate anything that fits in the cup of the spoon from a distance 

Movement Spirit: “Overmatter”

A stoic spirit with a passive personality. They don’t say much, usually offering very little guidance and letting their spectral take the reigns. Tooled in a spoon 

Shou - Spectral - red/orange energy 

The son of a powerful medium. He was unknowingly given a tool at a young age, kickstarting his development as a spectral. His tool allows him to manipulate certain aspects of physics on a small scale (ie. light refraction, his own mass)—this combined with his adept energy manipulation has made him a formidable opponent 

Physics Spirit: “Quantamaid”

A joyful spirit that acts somewhat like a mentor to Shou. Has an analytical mind but is a bit too much of a yes-man when it comes to his spectral, having known him since childhood. Tooled in a spinning top

#is dimple officially in this au or is he mostly irrelevant except for that one line 

@uniformbravo​ he absolutely is! how i’m approaching the development of this au is taking every story beat into account and adapting it to the new universe rules, which includes all of dimple’s stuff 

so far he functions similarly to hijack [spoilers for chapter 5 of paranatural], but with the ability to create spectrals if they’re host to him long enough (as he was in ritsu’s case. we’re talking like a day or two), and for his non-spectral hosts to be susceptible to spectral energy 

i haven’t entirely worked out the mechanics of how he controls spectrals that aren’t his energy color, but i’m messing around A LOT with how colors interact with each other so it’s not far off from being down yet
