The Song Of Memory (A Kisara & Ishizu Drabble)

"We've been expecting you, Miss Utahara."

The greeting is given as soon as the singer steps out of the car by the one she had contacted on Yugi Muto's recommendation, the very woman who was claimed to have the answers to all her many questions regarding the strange occurrences that had been going on recently. Kisara had traveled a great distance to meet with Ishizu Ishtar today, and without her sister, no less. While Shiori's company was to be expected and preferred in most situations, she had specifically requested she attend this meeting alone. This meeting was regarding Kisara's own circumstances, ones she didn't want to burden her sister with when she already had so much on her plate.

Upon walking towards the tomb keeper, who herself was accompanied by two bodyguards, the singer bowed her head in respect. This was not only a custom, but also a sign of gratitude. For securing this meeting had been of high importance to her ever since she learned that the answers she was looking for could be found with the elder woman.

"Thank you for taking the time to meet with me, Miss Ishtar. Considering your important position, I imagine you must be very busy. I very much appreciate you being able to fit me into your schedule."

"Of course. Now, will you please follow me? There is much for us to see and discuss." The woman gestures towards the entrance of the tomb, Kisara giving her a nod as she follows her down the dimly lit staircase. The two bodyguards then moved to guard the location's entrance. Seems they would have total privacy for this conversation, thankfully.

"This tomb is the current resting place of some of the relics that were once on display in Domino City's history museum. I originally brought them to Japan in hopes they would inspire the current generation of duelists, but with that task having been completed some time ago, they have been returned to their homeland."

"I see...So, that must be why you said we could not meet in Japan. You wanted to make sure I could see the relics, right?"

"Precisely. I hope these relics can inspire you Miss Utahara in the same way they both inspired Pegasus J. Crawford to create the game of Duel Monsters...and Seto Kaiba to host and battle in the Battle City tournament.

"He...He saw them too?"

Ishizu's words caused Kisara to halt in her tracks; her eyes widened as the flash of that man, of Seto Kaiba, flashed in her mind. Her encounter with him was the starting point of all the strange occurrences that had going on. The dreams. The visions. The strong ache in her heart when she sees him. Some of these she's experienced in the past, but they've only increased in frequency since their initial meeting. And it was the explanation behind these occurrences that she sought to find by coming here.

"Is something wrong, Miss Utahara?"

"N-No. It's...It's nothing." It clearly wasn't, but she couldn't lose focus now. Not when she was so close to the truth. "I was just...surprised. I...I didn't expect anything related to Duel Monsters to have taken inspiration from Egyptian history."

"Despite not being a duelist yourself, I think once you see them , the connection will become clear to you. Come, we're almost there."

She nods as she follows Ishizu deeper and deeper into the tomb, Kisara's heartbeat seeming to rise with each step. Was she getting nervous? Nervous about what she might learn? Or was it the thought of Seto Kaiba that made her heart race? She isn't sure, but regardless of the distraction, she pressed on until she met Ishizu at the bottom of the chamber.

"These two carvings you are about to see are from the 18th dynasty of Egypt that existed over 3,000 years ago. We at the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities have worked carefully to preserve these treasures so the legacy of our history is not lost to the sands of time. Please look at them at your leisure, and I'll be here to answer any questions you may have. Though, I believe the one you must look at is the one on the left."

She gives the other a nod before advancing forward, choosing to look at the tablet she was directing her towards first. Kisara is not sure what to expect when she looks at it. What did Ishizu mean by 'inspired'? What did these relics have to do with her experiences relating to her visions? To her weird connection to Seto Kaiba and the White Dragon? Guess the only way to find out was to see it with her own eyes.

Thus, with a deep breath, Kisara's gaze shifts to look at the stone. And the second she laid her eyes upon it, seeing the image in full, she froze, unable to do anything but look with widened eyes and process the unbelievable imagery before her eyes that seemed to fit the picture perfectly into the missing pieces of the puzzle of this mystery.

"That dragon...That dragon is...!" Flashes of different memories of her dreams and visions are shown before her eyes, and all of the dragons in this carving are seemingly depicted as plain as day. "The White Dragon...Blue-Eyes...White Dragon...The dragon from my dreams...It's...here on this stone, but...how? How could a creature of my dreams be on this stone, and later turned into a Duel Monsters card that is only owned by-"

Kisara pauses, realizing an important detail. Beautiful blue hues then start to shift their gaze from the carving of the beast to what was below. Or rather, who was below it, the very figure depicted as battling side by side with the dragon.

"It...It's him..." She speaks softly as she approaches the stone, gently touching the face of the figure depicted there for reasons she can't understand. "It's that man from my vision...The one that looks just like...!"

"Seto Kaiba." Ishizu's voice brings Kisara's focus back, her head turning back to face the woman who had approached her. "That is a depiction of a priest known as the 'White Beast Tamer', a loyal and prideful member of the Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, Pharaoh Atem's, court. Despite being in his service, he considered the king both his greatest friend and greatest rival. The battle between these two destined duelists is what is carved here on this stone."

Her eyes then wander to the opposite side of the tablet, the side featuring both the king and the magician carved above him. "That's Pharaoh Atem? But...but he looks just like Yugi Muto! Why...Why do these two figures look like people from the present? And what does all of this have to do with me? I came here looking for answers, but...I'm more confused than ever!"

Her heart was racing. Not only from the anxiety of the situation, but also because of what she saw on the stone and in the flashes of memory. There was clearly a connection between all these things. That was undeniable, and yet the very nature of it was still frustratingly unclear. Luckily for her, she had someone who could elaborate a bit.

"Miss Utahara." Ishizu speaks, gently placing a hand on Kisara's shoulder to try and help ease the obvious panic in her soul. "What does your heart tell you when you gaze upon this tablet? What feelings does it evoke? What words? What sights? It is in them that you may find your answers."

A hand is moved over her heart. The white-haired adult can still feel it racing in her chest, as if threatening to escape. She tries to take deep breaths in an attempt to calm herself enough to focus on the confusing cloud of feelings deep inside, once again her gaze shifting to the stone, specifically its left side. Silence fills the chamber for minutes on end as she continues to look, and it is only broken once an instinct takes hold of her, an instinct that allows her to convey what she is feeling in the only way she knows how...through the expression of her soul.

🎵"Once, like a dream...You looked at me...And everything felt new..."🎵

Her song is accompanied by images, images that were as clear as day to her. She sees herself beaten and stoned by a crowd, only for it to stop once he, the priest, intervenes and saves her life.

🎵"Time slipped away...The past seemed to fade...My hope restored by you..."🎵

She now sees herself looking at the priest from her weakened position on the ground, whose image seemed to glow in the sunlight. He was a beacon of light. The light of hope that she desperately tries to reach for.

🎵 "And I know, for some, it's temporary...Like a shooting star soon out of view..."🎵

Kisara finds her visions to now be of herself behind bars, watching the priest slowly turn and leave towards a darkened hallway. It then shifts to herself in the center of what appeared to be an arena, faced down by horrifying monsters. However, she turns around, now facing the image of the priest staring back at her.

🎵"But this will always be...It's my destiny...To be in love with you..."🎵

The priest in her images then moves in front of her, summoning a creature through his magic to defend her. Circumstances then cause the floor beneath them to fall, leaving them both dangling by a thread. That's when her body emits a bright blue aura, and from within that aura appears...the White Dragon...

🎵"Some people fall in love for life..."🎵

She finds herself behind bars again, her cell now breaking down around her. That's when he appears, like a miracle, to break her free, taking her by the hand as they escape a crumbling palace.

🎵"Others never get it right..."🎵

He then speaks to her. They are words Kisara cannot hear directly in her vision but are ones she can seemingly understand. They tell her to run, run away from this land, and don't look back. Despite her hesitance, she runs away from him, seemingly never to return to his side.

🎵"Love's fickle when it calls..."🎵

But...she ends up turning around, unable to leave him behind. He looks back at her a moment, screaming out her name, before everything is consumed in a dark light that strikes her core.

🎵"One thing that I know for sure..."🎵

Everything slows around her as her body slowly wilts, akin to that of a dying flower. She can see the panic in the priest's eyes as he cries out for her, a sign of his care for her. That...That was enough for her, she feels, to see him be concerned over her well-being, a feeling that can't help but feel a bit distant as these memories replayed.

🎵"Longer than our lives endure..."🎵

The sight before her now is a familiar one. She sees herself in his arms and knelt before a tablet depicting the White Dragon. Even now, seeing this sight fills her soul with an intense sadness, enough to cause tears to flow from her physical eyes and for her to drop to her knees.

🎵"You're my forever fall..."🎵

Kisara's eyes return back to reality, once again facing the stone as her song concludes. She reaches for the depiction of the priest once again, and for a moment, his image flashes in her mind. He smiles at her, reaching out his hand, before the image breaks and her hand finds itself touching the cold gravel of the tablet.

"Lord Seto...That's your name...That's who you are...The man who...saved me...in the past...The man who I wanted to repay...The man that I..." Her hands move to cover her heart, and her tear drops fall on the skin like dew drops. "Loved..."

She takes a few moments to herself to steady her spirit, slowly wiping the tears from her eyes with a handkerchief from her pocket. Kisara then stands up, one movement at a time, and turns back towards Ishizu. The look in her eyes is different than before, both murkier from her tears but almost...clearer somehow, as if some fog had been lifted.

"So...I'm the vessel for the White Dragon, or rather...I was in a previous life. And what I've been seeing...What I've been experiencing...That song I just sung...It was me connecting to that part of myself, wasn't it Miss Ishtar?"

"Yes. Just like the destined duelists the tablet depicts, it seems your journey, too, has not yet reached its final conclusion."

"Does this mean that...I still have the White Dragon inside of me? Could that be why I see it in my dreams?"

"I'm not so certain of that. In ancient times, Egyptian sorcerers trapped creatures, both good and evil, into stone tablets that they could summon at will. Today this practice is represented by the Duel Monsters cards duelists can summon to aid them in battle. If you still had the spirit of the White Dragon within you, then I think there could be no card of it."

"I guess...I guess that makes sense. And those cards...They belong to..." A puzzle piece seemingly clicked in her mind as she was putting things together, things she wanted to confirm with the women first just to be certain. "Miss Ishizu, Does...Does that mean that Seto Kaiba is..."

"He is as you suspect. He is the priest reborn in this new age, and he is fully aware of his ancient heritage."

"Then...Then, does he know about..." Her words die in her throat, and she remembers one crucial detail from the memories of her human life she had just seen. While her past life's feelings for the priest had been clear, they were ones she did not get to express. For her past self passed away before being given the chance to say what she felt to him, of the love she had for him deep inside.

At least...as far as the blue-eyed women knew, anyway. There were more secrets of her past still yet to reveal themselves. The memories of her human life during her time in Egypt had been unlocked to her. However, the secrets housed within the other parts of her soul, the ones tied to the four Blue-Eyes White Dragons, still were out of reach, and until she could reconnect and access them, the full truth would still be just a mystery.

"I do not know what he knows and does not know at this current moment. What I do know is that he has outwardly rejected and denied his claims to the past, to his very destiny on multiple occasions, despite what he has experienced first hand."

"I see...I cannot say I'm surprised. He is...a very mysterious and cold person, with his heart seemingly sealed off from the world..."

It was a stark contrast to what she witnessed from the priest in her visions, who always appealed to her as warm and protective. Then again, she doesn't know Seto Kaiba that well at all. Could he too be hiding a part of himself?

"But honestly, after learning all of this? I...I want to get to know him, more than I did before. I don't know what fate has in store for us, or how I'm going to handle these new...feelings from my past." Contending with a love, a powerful one that seemingly crossed time to the present day, that is hers but also not hers was going to be challenging, after all. "All I do know is that I should at least try. I'd forever regret it if I didn't."

"I wish you the best of luck with your efforts. Now is there anything else I can help you with? You still haven't looked at the second carving."

"I...I think I got more than I could ever ask for just by looking at the first one. If anything, it gives me an excuse to see you again. Thank you, Miss Ishtar. Thank you for everything." Kisara bows her head in gratitude once more, a soft smile characteristic of her gracing her face.

"You can just adress me as Ishizu."

"Only if you address me as Kisara."

"Alright, Kisara. I'm glad I could be of help to you. You are free to contact me anytime should you need it."

"I appreciate it, Ishizu. Thank you again."

With permission to be casual around one another exchanged, the two ladies leave the tomb, and Kisara heads back on her way to her hotel. The singer is sure to call her sister and tell her the meeting was successful and that she will be flying back to Japan in the morning. Seems like she has a busy schedule ahead of her when she gets back. She did take a few days off just for this trip, meaning she'd have to play catch up when she returned home.

As the Blue-Eyed Maiden sat in her room, her hands were busy writing in her songbook. She was writing down the song she had sung in the tomb, a song that she had known how to sing and knew the notes to without needing to think. It was a song that seemingly came from her soul, a song that Kisara...wanted to share with him someday, no matter what his reaction may be. It would not be for herself now, but rather who she used to be, to say what she never got to say before...before her death.

Is kurama's stepfather rich?

Hard to tell. He's the president of a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) where Shiori Minamino works part-time, and Kurama joins after high school. However, Togashi has never mentioned what kind of business he runs.

For example, Togashi family has a paper store in Shinjo, Yamagata. They aren't rich, but have led a good life. On the other hand, the family of his wife Naoko Takeuchi had a jewelry store. She'd already had a Porsche before becoming well-known as the author of Sailor Moon.

Kurama lives in a nice house, attends a good private high school, gave his mom a honeymoon trip to Europe... they seem to have an income of a middle, maybe upper middle class. Mr. Hatanaka looks like a nice and simple man, I don't think he's the rich type, going out there driving a Ferrari. The couple also wanted a small and intimate wedding ceremony, and only invited close relatives.

Mr. Hatanaka seems cooler in the anime version. I also like that in the manga he was very worried when Shiori was in the hospital.

BTW, I'm also interested in the biological father, Mr. Minamino. What did he do? Did Shiori receive any Widowed Parent's Allowance? How did he die? So many questions.....!!!!!

various influences on my silly fanfics

gnosticism is probably the ultimate drive of most of my fics. you know, besides the need to write a bunch of smut.

tennessee williams --particularly "cat on a hot tin roof" as the perma-adolescence and perma-self-pitying brick has consigned himself to parallels that of aging rockstars pretty accurately. williams' reliance on implication rather than statement, motivated though it was by the times, is also something i've pulled from.

mr. skeffington --end scene was a pivotal inspiration for "back to the garden." "mr. skeffington has come home."

whatever happened to baby jane? --next to last scene, particularly for my paul/peter stuff. ~*~you mean, all this time, we could've been friends?~*~

utena --the black rose saga and apocalypse arc in particular. in the black rose saga, the duelists end up in what amounts to an inverted/twisted therapy session/confessional where they reveal their true motivations. shiori's was a big influence on "little t&a" ("what i did with him made me feel even more pathetic than before" and the "it's no use, it's just no use") and various other fics to one degree or another. juri's constant holding of shiori at arm's length, while shiori tries any means at all to get back at her/force juri's attention on her, is pretty intriguing. the entire utena series is a mess but it's fascinating, with its theme of cyclical hurt.

evangelion --hurt people hurt people, news at 5. this series is still dear to me (and was once very dear to my wallet), and i hold a peculiar fondness for the maligned rebuild movie series, as in it (not the largest theme of the series), asuka and shinji effectively move past each other; asuka ostensibly "grows up," but can't let go. the eventual bridging of the gaps between them was influential.

solaris --more on how our limited, surface understanding of even the people most important to us has a pretty grave impact, all on a weird sci-fi backdrop. i'm not giving this one the introspective review it deserves, but it's more than worth the watch.

la strada --anthony quinn doing the same carnival stunt over and over.

requiem for a heavyweight --way past his prime, physically destroyed boxer tries to make a life for himself outside of the ring, and finds out he can't.

rocky --underdog ends up with a shot at the title. ends up with four million sequels, franchised, overbulked, and overproduced. and he keeps going. and he keeps going! and he keeps going! does this remind you of anything? because it should.

performance --i have discussed this one at length but the down-but-not-yet-out rockstar has pretty obvious parallels to kiss.

spinal tap --oh, come on. this scene is a kiss reference.

Sure! You can have a quick summary of each:

Ms. Vos [sciences]: the woman from Chapter 1 who escorted you to the dorms. Arguably the sweetest woman at the whole school, although her classes are known to be difficult

Mr. Owens [maths]: a man who just Doesn't Care. You can send an email asking for an extension with a full detailed explanation and just get "whatever" as a response back. Somehow, he's great at teaching, and his explanations are perfect

Mrs. Shiori [arts]: an older woman who always has her head in the clouds. She's very passionate about the arts, and despite her initial mild demeanor she's been known to kick out students who don't take it seriously or just want an easy grade/elective

Prof. Stone [humanities]: as long as you do the reading and show up to class you're guaranteed the A. They have a more serious demeanor, and yet if you talk to them, they're kinda...weirder then expected? It's hard to read them

Oh god, I feel like I'm getting very emotional, Basic Instinct really was my first baby on the internet after the many 'miscarriages' I wrote back when I was a teen. Ten years have passed since the day Akashi moved in with his grandmother. Thanks to her trying to help your mom, your mom had improved greatly and seeing her return to the mom you had known before her relapse was the greatest gift you had ever been given. Masaomi, on the other hand, had always remained somewhat of an eyesore. You had been as graceful as you could and Akashi had complimented you for holding out as long as you did until that one dinner party about 5 years ago. It had been the time when the two of you had began discussing marriage and planning out your future together. At that point, you had been with each other for 5 years and were certain enough your relationship was one of lasting nature. Masaomi had attended the dinner were Akashi had announced to his grandmother that the two of you were intending to look for engagement rings. Rima had been overjoyed at the news, having considered you her granddaughter already at that point. Masaomi, being the unsupportive douchebag he is, wasn't happy with the news. Whilst he had always been a little too stiff and formal with you around, he hadn't dared to act coldly in front of you. But this time, his disapproval had outweighed his fear for his mother in law on a level none had ever seen before. "Seijuro, I have tolerated this romance of yours because you had to make a scene about it but this is enough-" Masaomi hadn't been able to finish his sentence because of Rima suddenly stabbing his chicken with her knife, her eyes looking scary in a way you had previously only seen before on Akashi's other personality. The air had been tense, and neither you or Akashi dared to move or say a word. After Masaomi had been kicked out, Akashi had held you reassuringly, promising you that his father was simply an malicious idiot for not seeing how happy you made him, how wonderful of a wife you'd be. You had tried not to kiss him, considering Rima had still been present, but you still ended up giving him a warm peck. Masaomi, naturally, hadn't been invited to the wedding, neither any of the elite kids but all of your and Akashi's friends had been. It had been a vibrant wedding, and you had felt so happy it felt like it could kill you but in the most wonderful way, as if you were melting into a puddle of pure bliss. Being called Mrs Akashi had given you a lot of goosebumps over your honeymoon trip. It had finally come true, you had finally married the boy you loved so dearly. Akashi was an attentive husband and he dotted on you a lot, especially now. Now there was that sweet bundle of joy resting in your arms, your firstborn. With Akashi's bright red hair and your eyes, your daughter happily waved her little arms at you. Shiori was such a beautiful sweetheart, it kept baffling you to think this precious little angel actually was your daughter and you were allowed to love and nurture this sweet little girl. You knew there might be a time where that could change, where she could have a rebellious phase and pierce herself behind your back or whatever she wanted that you would disapprove of, but you knew you wouldn't love her any less. Akashi had been surprisingly pleased with having a daughter for a firstborn, considering the preference for a male firstborn had been installed in him at such a young age, but he loved his cute little princess, and Fujioka despite getting very old made an excellent babysitter. You felt so blessed with the family you had. "There my ladies are, how is my little strawberry?" "She's in a very playful mood, " you reported with a fond smile. Akashi wrapped his arms around you, leaning his head against your shoulder to take a peek at his daughter. "You know my favorite thing about her?" You shook your head. "It's that she got that sweet laugh of yours, it never fails to cheer me up." At that, you and your daughter laughed in unison, blessing Akashi's heart with warmth.

looking for love in all the wrong places (part 1)

kuranosuke kiba x mc x kunihiro kasai

Kuranosuke never thought he’d ever fall in love. To be clear his parents have a perfectly healthy relationship. So did everyone else in his family.

Kuranosukes family wasn’t the reason for his issues his capability of love, well for once they weren’t. What actually shaped his views on love and his own inability to fall for someone was well … himself.

The problem wasn’t either that he wasn’t capable of falling in love. Rather, the issue was that he thought he was incapable of making anyone happy. So therefore the only logical conclusion to the hard headed Kiba was that: In fact, love wasn’t meant for him.

Things went south for his marriage after all. He was living in his own bubble when he thought that their marriage was fine. He didn’t love her but he liked her. Shiori was his wife after all.

Being betrayed again however wasn’t an option. “I cheated on you. Please separate from me.” Those were the last words he heard from his ex wife. Words that had felt like a stab wound to his heart. Therefore, love wasn’t for him. He couldn’t make anyone happy after all.

Kuranosuke didn’t think he was being cynical when he told Ukyo off for trying to drag him to mixers. “Kuranosuke you’ll die alone at this pace.” Was what Ukyo had said. To Kuranosuke however this hadn’t sounded like such a bad idea.

Again, Kuranosuke never thought he’d ever fall in love. So then why at his age was his heart beating so fast? Maybe it was his health. It had to be. Maybe it was time to visit a cardiologist. Or maybe it had to do with the one change a few years back.

When MC had to shift departments and work under Kuranosuke. He definitely didn’t have the kindest words to say. However he did see the potential.

To an outsider it would look like Kiba thought of this as another nuisance. But the wheels were spinning inside his head. He was looking forward to the years to come and MCs growth.

MC took on everything with a stride. Just within few short years she was able to overcome and achieve so much. MC would tease her boss about it. “Mr. Kiba, i might have 3 industry awards to my name now but i still think my biggest achievement is to overcome the hurdle known as you.” Kuranosuke would give her an instant scowl.

The truth is. He respected MC. Through out the years they had worked together MC had never once given him a reason to think otherwise. He loved her work ethics. He loved her ability to give out a hand when needed. He loved her ability to put on a smile when things were hard. He loved her ability to not back down or to give up. He loved. He loved. Yeah that must been it. He loved her as a colleague.

But for some reason he’d find himself holding her gaze for a little longer than necessary. Find himself reaching out for her hand but retracting it faster than the speed of light. What had gotten into him. Something was wrong with him. Why was his heart beating this abnormally just at the sight of MCs smile.

Kuranosuke Kiba was a logical man. Deep down he could put words to these abnormalities. However, he didn’t dare to cross that line. He wasn’t capable of making anyone happy after all.

And then the next shock came. The news that spread around the office like wildfire had him choking on the air. Get a grip Kuranosuke. “Kunihiro and MC are engaged.” Those were the inescapable words of his colleagues.

The man himself, Kunihiro had to make a public announcement to everyone in the office, that yes in fact him and MC were engaged. No, that didn’t mean he gave her any preferential treatment. The gossip died down few hours afterwards when everyone had their fill.

Kuranosuke however was still in daze. Kunihiro was his friend. He’d even say best friend if that word didn’t make him cringe. They had gone through a lot together. Kunihiro had been there for him throughout his divorce. So if Kunihiro were to get engaged he surely would’ve told Kuranosuke.

Something wasn’t right. Kuranosuke chose the simple approach of luring his friend out on a paid dinner at the stall they used to eat at their university days.

“I didn’t think you were ready to lose your harem of women yet.” At hearing that Kunihiro had laughed. “It’s more complicated than that. We were arranged. I had few dates with MC. I like her more than i thought i did. It’s been a few weeks since i realized it. You know I never knew a day like this would come. But I cut every one of those women out of my life.” Kuranosuke was indeed shocked at what his friend had told him.

The shock however was overcome by something very ugly very quick. Kuranosukes grip on his beer glass and his white knuckles were the proof of that. There was a pang in his heart too. Get a grip again. That’s what Kuranosuke told himself.

“Just so you know i don’t want to hear about any of your marital problems in future so you better treat her right. MC talks a lot too.” That was his attempt at giving his friend his blessings. But why didn’t it feel genuine? Why was his heart hurting?

“You know Kuranosuke you sound almost worried about her?” Kunihiro had his usual smile. What had meant to be a little teasing from Kunihiro had been met back with a serious response. “Maybe i am. She’s good Kunihiro. Don’t mess it up.” Kunihiro was shocked to say the least.

But that conversation was shut down there when Kuranosuke had dropped more than enough bills to cover both of their meals and left. Some half excuse about a piles of projects waiting for him.

He was going to give himself the weekend. To let these ugly feelings of jealousy take over. He didn’t have more right after that, after all. When he didn’t dare to name the abnormalities. When he didn’t think he could make her happy. When it was his friends happiness in question.

He would not be like Inomata. He would not betray his friend. He would take these feelings to his grave. Yeah. That’s what they were. Kuranosuke owed it to himself. To admit it once. “I love her. Not as subordinate. Not as her boss. I love her.” That was it. This would pass too.

“This would pass too.” Yeah right. The words he had uttered like a mantra. It was hard. MC wasn’t a woman you would have a fleeting attraction to after all. Kuranosuke had to take his precautions. For once in his life. He couldn’t act like everything was ok.

So he did what he had to. When MC would join him at the roof top he would practically run away with some new excuse every time. He’d go back to the beginning of his and MCs day. Only speak to her in a few syllables of “yes” and “no’s”. Distance was the best option.

It was awful. Kuranosuke knew better. He shouldn’t had to act any different. But when he couldn’t breathe because of her presence. All he knew to do was to run. As long as he did his job as her boss. As long as she could grow under his wing.

And when the recent project was done. Everything settled. And a peculiar request came from Ukyo. Kuranosuke really wondered if MC really could grow anymore working with him. “How about letting MC work with me from now on? She’d get new perspective.” Kuranosuke instant thought was: NO.

But then he had to take a step back. Was it his desire as a man speaking or was it his desire as a boss. He couldn’t be selfish. Not with MC. If not being able to work with her meant that she could achieve more. Then he was willing to let her go. Again.

And after a month. There was no one there to nag at him. No one that would put up a smile at every hardship. No one whose hand he wanted to reach out to. The feeling of emptiness had overtaken him. But this would pass too.

What he hadn’t expected was MC chasing him down and cornering him. Not in his wildest dreams had he expected this outcome. “Was it something I did? Was my worth ethics weak? Did I offend you somehow? Did I make a mistake somewhere?” MC was on a tangent.

Kuranosukes head hurt. What was she going on about? Kuranosuke simply gave her a question mark look to let her continue. “Mr. Kiba, you started to avoid me like as if I was the plague. Fine I can take that, you’re my boss it’s not like you owe me an explanation. It still hurts. But I thought even if you spoke to me in two syllables I’d still be working under you. And then I get an email that I’m suddenly starting to work for Mr. Sengkawa. So did I mess up somewhere or- was i just so disposable? I like working with you. I don’t understand the sudden switch up.” Her voice was shaken up.

Everything hurt once again. His head. His heart. At this moment all of Kuranosukes restrain was being tested. There was nothing more he wanted to do than to take MC in his arms. Reassure her that she isn’t one to blame for anything. Calm down her so she doesn’t quiver when she speaks. But he didn’t have that right.

“Sengkawa requested you. He’s an exceptional designer.” Kuranosuke was coward. If he wasn’t one he’d tell her it has nothing to do with her but more with himself. But since he was a coward he could only offer her 2 sentences.

The look however he saw on MCs face broke all his resolve. She looked crestfallen. A dam that was going to break any second. “MC i-“ it took him one second to comeback to his senses. He almost had lost his senses and said it.

“I respect you and your work ethics. You were a valuable asset to my team.” And i love you. I love you so much that it consumes my very being. But that part he could never tell her. And that was it. That’s all consolation he could offer her.

Luckier and the luckiest (Kuranosuke Kiba x MC) (Scenario)

Summary: Coming home to the love of his life was a scenario Kuranosuke Kiba could hardly imagine. Yet, he was even luckier than just this.

"Imagine coming home to this," a voice said through the phone, and MC giggled. She put the phone on the counter and continued to cook.

"Knowing your brother, he will complain that I'm cooking too messy and will make me clean everything before starting to eat."

A duet of soft laughs reverberated through the kitchen. When the women calmed, MC continued smiling while cutting the vegetables.

"Are these the tomatoes Kuranosuke is harvesting?"

MC nodded and showed the tomatoes to the oldest of Kiba's kids. The fashion vlogger in her woke up, and she started to pose with the tomatoes, entertaining her sister-in-law.

"Is there at least one thing Little Kura is bad at?" the oldest woman commented more to herself. Hearing this, MC stopped everything and looked at the camera.

"What did you just call him? Little Kura?"

Before answering, Kuranosuke's sister let out a hearty laugh. "My brother is going to kill me. But I'll tell you if you keep this a secret," the story began after MC nodded a few times. "When he was born, everyone called him Little Kura because Kuranosuke is too long. However, as we all know, he started to show his pretentious personality, and we stopped because it didn't suit him. So, even in the family, he is called Kuranosuke. Yet, from time to time, it slips from us, especially from my mom and me, because we called him like this the longest. But it's safe to assume that he hates this nickname," Again, a wave of laughing shook the Kiba household's walls. "I would pay to see you calling him like this. I tried to bribe Shiori to do it, but she was too calm for mischief games like this."

After hearing Kuranosuke's former wife's name, MC fell silent. No, she wasn't jealous. She was just curious to know snippets of information about the love of her life before he had become the love of her life. So, talking as often as possible with his family was one of the tools she used for this, even if it broke her heart to understand more and more how the Kiba family saw their middle kid.

"Can't believe that he is so lucky. None in our family believed that he would by himself find someone as wonderful as you," MC's sister-in-law added with a content smile on her face.

"I don't understand why, though," Mrs. Kiba commented while mixing the vegetables. "Kuranosuke is never cruel, and all his criticism is constructive. And both of us know that he cares more than he shows. Every woman wants a man who cares, and he does. He won't ever admit out loud that he is worried about letting me walk alone at night, so he comes to walk me home after work. He never says half of his sweets are mine but always leaves them for me in the fridge. But he won't ever hide that he loves me. It doesn't matter where and when, Kuranosuke always makes sure I'm the most important he has in his life. He wasn't lucky to get me. I was luckier to get him," MC explained to her sister-in-law, finally getting enough courage to try to convince the Kiba family that their "black sheep" deserved their love and understanding as much as the rest of them.

For a while, the oldest Kiba was silent. MC even tapped on the screen a few times to make sure it wasn't a bug. She barely saw her sister-in-law not talking for so long.

"Hi, Kuranosuke," were the first words the older sibling said. Suddenly, MC turned back and saw her husband in home slippers, with his tie loose, and playing with their cat. He got Haru in his hands, not caring that the cat's hair would stick to his white shirt.

"When did you get home?" MC asked while looking from one Kiba to another.

"If you weren't so engrossed in talking behind my back, you would have known."

MC put the food on the lowest fire and waved goodbye to her sister-in-law, following her husband.

"How was work? I nearly finished the dinner. Will you let Haru go so I can give you a welcome-home kiss?"

MC's last sentence finally made Kuranosuke look at her. For an untrained eye, the man looked like The Blizzard he was at work. Yet, when the woman tilted her head, a grin appeared on her face.

"You got shy after hearing all I said to your sister?"

Kuranosuke couldn't look his wife in the eyes, so he turned his head after Haru, but it gave him away. Before he understood what he had done, MC's hand was on his ears while her thumb caressed his cheeks.

"Little Kura is so cute!"

"What did you just say? I'm going to kill her!"

MC laughed, but her husband was too "furious" at his sister to stay calm. So, her grip on him tightened.

"Can you shut up for a second, so I could kiss you?"

Before Kuranosuke could answer, he lost himself in the warmth of MC's lips.

"I love you," he whispered between kisses and pressed MC against the wall, lifting her on his waist.

"The dinner is on the stove."

"Fuck dinner."

MC's fingers got lost in Kuranosuke's hair while her legs hugged him tighter against her.

"How can I think about food when my wife talks so sweet about me behind my back?"

MC didn't answer. Instead, she put some space between them to undo Kuranosuke's buttons. In the meantime, the husband put a few strands of hair behind his wife's ear and admired the beauty in front of him.

"I think that I'm the luckiest one in this relationship. Loving you was the best thing that happened in my life."

MC gave up on getting herself together to concentrate on the buttons and kissed her husband as hard as possible, putting all her feelings on the tip of her lips. They were a family of lucky people, more definitely.

RGG Tactics Karaoke Notes, for Shits and Giggles

Aoyagi: he's the protag so he gets his own song. Don't ask me what it is. I am not a songwriter. He also sings Bakamitai (the photo is Majima, with distressed Aoyagi and Nishida in headlocks) and 24-Hour Cinderella. There is a mandatory karaoke bit in Chapter 1 where he sings the latter with Majima and promptly gets noogied within an inch of his life for taking over the #10 spot (by a single thousandth of a point) on the leaderboard Majima was up to that point sweeping.

Chiba: Seems like a Machine Gun Kiss guy to me.

Sugihara: Haven't decided yet. Maybe he gets his own song? In any case, bringing Kuroshi along will result in some special accompaniment lines.

Shiori: Like a Butterfly, duet with Aoyagi. It is heavily implied though probably never stated outright that they briefly dated and split on friendly terms during the three-year timeskip between Chapter 2 and 3.

Doc Nakamura: Bakamitai because the video plays right into a running gag. We know he's married. He says it in so many words, multiple times. We hear rumors around town that his wife is smoking hot and possibly a famous model or an actress or at least should be. We might hear her voice once or twice but we will never, ever see her. And Doc will sing Bakamitai and the player will think ah, finally, we will see Mrs. Nakamura and the photo turns out to be something just... completely random and unrelated that is never, ever explained.

Akemi: Heartbreak Mermaid, obviously in her full magical girl regalia.

Nishida: Get to the Top, and bringing Majima along triggers some vicious roasting from the sidelines.

Minami: Kamurocho Lullaby, and he's just as bad at it in the minigame as he is in that cutscene.

Majima: Majima joins the battle roster at the end of the Kiryu Everywhere postgame plotline and brings all of his karaoke shit with him. Bringing OG Nishitani along will trigger some amusing interjections from the sidelines, which Majima will resolutely Ignore. If he's invited along and Nishida, Minami, or Aoyagi are singing, he will heckle them mercilessly.

Kuroshi: Doesn't join the roster proper until the postgame but does tag along as a guest at a few points in the main story. Does not sing but will accompany.

OG Nishitani: Joins the roster as a support unit in the postgame and definitely sings, though I haven't decided what yet. Bringing Majima along will trigger some amusing interjections, from both of them.

Yamaoka: Joins the roster in the postgame. Will not sing or accompany and will tell Aoyagi to go fuck himself and hang up if you try to invite him.

ADDENDUM: "Beefgnaw, isn't Aoyagi a literal chef? Shouldn't he get Hell Stew?" Ah. yes. no, actually. He'd probably appear in the video, but if anyone's going to sing that one it's going to be the as-yet unnamed hostess who has a side hustle as a vocalist in an all-girl death metal band. However, Ms. Death Metal would more likely get her own song.
