While Spike was taking care of pets, how did the Girls do?

The episode begins with, yes, this episode taking place at the same time as Just for Sidekicks. Twilight wanted to go back but Rainbow Dash drags it along. They’re the welcoming committee for the Equestria Games Inspector to convince her for having the games at the Crystal Empire. And of all the ponies, its Rainbow Dash that’s taking this the most serious.

That’s because as a kid Cloudsdale had a chance to host the games. But they got passed up and Dash has been disappointed since. And since the Crystal Empire was gone for years, she doesn’t want them to be disappointed as she was. But the problem is not only is Cadance’s hair dresser is sick (she is hoping to do a traditional hairstyle to show how important the games is to Crystal Empire) but the Inspector is coming in basically 10 minutes.

So if you were meeting someone who is coming from out of town, how would you describe them? Would you mention something that can stand out like their hair color or have a picture of them? Or would you say a specific object that basically anyone could have. These girls, despite having a name, went with “person with flower bag”. Like seriously? They don’t even confirm if her name is Mrs. Harshwhinny, they just automatically assume.

So while the girls show that lady a good time and Rarity tries her best to actually do the hairstyle...

Mrs. Harshwhinny is having a terrible time.

Though considering how the tour is going, she’s probably having a better time going alone.

Of course, by the time the girls figure it out they’re going into panic mode. So while they try to find Harshwhinny, Ms. Peachbottom (the pony they were showing off to) goes to the Crystal Spa where both Princess Cadance and Mrs. Harshwhinny are currently at. She goes on to talk about her experience so far to Harshwhinny before the girls arrive.

So by the time they arrived all heck is broken loose. Rainbow Dash takes the blame since she was so worried about not getting the games here she went overboard. Which is true. But because Harshwhinny was actually intrigued with Peachbottom’s story, she’s actually impressed with the Crystal Empire. To her, this was the first ever unvarnished, unrehearsed, and unbiased appraisal of a potential host of the Equestria Games.Considering how much was Ad-libbed, its fair.

It ends with the Crystal Empire being the host of the games, and the girls go home right as Just for Sidekicks are up to the reveal. Overall, its a nice attempt at a dual story but between Spike being selfish for most of his time and the girls being so eager to please they got the wrong person, it wasn’t that successful. Even as two separate stories they are pretty weak. But next week Season 3 ends. As for how this fits in canon, probably get rid of Twilight since this is Rainbow Dash pushing it.
